Blockchain technology has developed significantly over the last decade. One of the reasons for this is its sustainability architecture, which does not allow modification of the history of committed transactions. That means that developers should consider blockchain vulnerabilities and eliminate them before the deployment of the system. In this paper, we demonstrate a statistical model checking approach for the verification of blockchain systems on three real-world attack scenarios. We build and verify models of DNS attack, double-spending with memory pool flooding, and consensus delay scenario. Since very few contributions to the development of an unified memory orchestration framework for efficient management of both host and remote idle memory have been made, we present Valet, an efficient approach to orchestration of host and remote shared memory for improving performance of memory intensive workloads. The paper makes three original contributions. First, we redesign the data flow in the critical path by introducing a host-coordinated memory pool that works as a local cache to reduce the latency in the critical path of the host and remote memory orchestration. Second, Valet utilizes unused local memory across containers by managing local memory via Valet host-coordinated memory pool, which allows containers to dynamically expand and shrink their memory allocations according to the workload demands. Third, Valet provides an efficient remote memory reclaiming technique on remote peers, based on two optimizations: (1) an activity-based victim selection scheme to allow the least-active-chunk of data to be selected for serving the eviction requests and (2) a migration protocol to move the least-active-chunk of data to less-memory-pressured remote node. As a result, Valet can effectively reduce the performance impact and migration overhead on local nodes. Our extensive experiments on both NoSQL systems and Machine Learning (ML) workloads show that Valet outperforms existing representative remote paging systems with up to 226X throughput improvement and up to 98% latency decrease over conventional OS swap facility for big data and ML workloads, and by up to 5.5X throughput improvement and up to 78.4% latency decrease over the state-of-the-art remote paging systems. 1 The exponential growth of data has driven technology providers to develop new protocols, such as cache coherent interconnects and memory semantic fabrics, to help users and facilities leverage advances in memory technologies to satisfy these growing memory and storage demands. Using these new protocols, fabric-attached memories (FAM) can be directly attached to a system interconnect and be easily integrated with a variety of processing elements (PEs). Moreover, systems that support FAM can be smoothly upgraded and allow multiple PEs to share the FAM memory pools using well-defined protocols. The sharing of FAM between PEs allows efficient data sharing, improves memory utilization, reduces cost by allowing flexible integration of different PEs and memory modules from several vendors, and makes it easier to upgrade the system. One promising use-case for FAMs is in High-Performance Compute (HPC) systems, where the underutilization of memory is a major challenge. However, adopting FAMs in HPC systems brings new challenges. In addition to cost, flexibility, and efficiency, one particular problem that requires rethinking is virtual memory support for security and performance. To address these challenges, this paper presents decoupled access control and address translation (DeACT), a novel virtual memory implementation that supports HPC systems equipped with FAM. Compared to the state-of-the-art two-level translation approach, DeACT achieves speedup of up to 4.59x (1.8x on average) without compromising security.1Part of this work was done when Vamsee was working under the supervision of Amro Awad at UCF. We present GAMER-2, a GPU-accelerated adaptive mesh refinement (AMR) code for astrophysics. It provides a rich set of features, including adaptive time-stepping, several hydrodynamic schemes, magnetohydrodynamics, self-gravity, particles, star formation, chemistry and radiative processes with GRACKLE, data analysis with yt, and memory pool for efficient object allocation. GAMER-2 is fully bitwise reproducible. For the performance optimization, it adopts hybrid OpenMP/MPI/GPU parallelization and utilizes overlapping CPU computation, GPU computation, and CPU-GPU communication. Load balancing is achieved using a Hilbert space-filling curve on a level-by-level basis without the need to duplicate the entire AMR hierarchy on each MPI process. To provide convincing demonstrations of the accuracy and performance of GAMER-2, we directly compare with Enzo on isolated disk galaxy simulations and with FLASH on galaxy cluster merger simulations. We show that the physical results obtained by different codes are in very good agreement, and GAMER-2 outperforms Enzo and FLASH by nearly one and two orders of magnitude, respectively, on the Blue Waters supercomputers using $1-256$ nodes. More importantly, GAMER-2 exhibits similar or even better parallel scalability compared to the other two codes. We also demonstrate good weak and strong scaling using up to 4096 GPUs and 65,536 CPU cores, and achieve a uniform resolution as high as $10{,}240^3$ cells. Furthermore, GAMER-2 can be adopted as an AMR+GPUs framework and has been extensively used for the wave dark matter ($\psi$DM) simulations.
