The article looks at the increasing amount of research supporting the benefits of collaboration between teachers and administrators as an effective method of improving student outcomes. Particular attention is given to a study which found the most successful organizations featured a coherent instructional guidance system, a student-centered learning approach, and leadership focused on engaging parents, teachers, and community members. Examples include districts in Springfield, Massachusetts, Hillsborough County, Florida, and Cincinnati, Ohio.
