The article discusses a robot which can digitize books. Munich, Germany's Bavarian State Library has enlisted the aid of a robot to make more of its books digitally available to online readers. The robot, or "ScanRobot," can scan up to 1,5000 pages in one hour by using a gentle suction and air flow which allows it to turn the pages before scanning. The Bavarian library has thousands of books available online for users to access and is joining with Google Inc. for the digitizing of more modern books in its collection. Some German media reports that it will scan 37,000 literary works from the 16th century, equaling some 7.5 million pages, by the year 2009.
