The article discusses the findings of a survey on the child care system in Australia conducted by the periodical "Choice" in June 2006. Sixty-four percent of respondents reported that the biggest obstacle they faced when looking for child care was long waiting lists. A commercial child care centre is commonly used by respondents while 35% of them used community-based/nonprofit centres. Survey respondents are calling for government assistance to cover their costs for child care.
