In recent years, the migration of people from Myanmar into Thailand has increased tremendously. Since 2005, when the Thai government officially allowed migrant children to enroll in Thai government schools, there has been a steady increase in the number of migrant students. In such a context, it is imperative that teachers develop multicultural competence, or the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required to work with culturally diverse students. However, teachers in Thailand reported that they have not been trained in the knowledge and skills to teach in multicultural classrooms. The study has two main objectives. Firstly, it attempts to design a multicultural education training program that incorporates modules that will lead to building and strengthening teachers’ multicultural competence. Secondly, it implements the training program, and measures the level of multicultural competence of teachers who received the training by comparing them to those who do not receive the training. Results revealed that teachers appraised the module about cultures of migrant students and the module about the rules and regulations in enrolling and graduating migrant students as the most useful. Results from an independent-samples t-test showed that the overall multicultural competence level of teachers who participated in the program was significantly different from those who did not participate; teachers who took part in the training demonstrated a higher level of multicultural competence compared to those who did not participate.

Dialogische Evaluationen folgen in Bewertung und Verbesserung von Lehrveranstaltungen einer qualitativen Forschungslogik. Durch genuine Dialoge wird hierbei die Grundlage für den Austausch zwischen Lehrperson und Lernenden mit dem Ziel geschaffen, die Veranstaltung im verbleibenden Semester auf Basis gemeinsam ausgehandelter Maßnahmen zu optimieren. Seit ihrer Entwicklung und erstem Einsatz an der Universität Bremen wird die Dialogische Evaluation an mehreren Hochschulen in unterschiedlicher Ausgestaltung eingesetzt. Wesentliches Differenzierungsmerkmal ist hierbei die Besetzung der Rolle der Evaluatorin*des Evaluators: studentische oder professionelle Evaluator*innen, die auch als Moderator*innen zwischen Lehrperson und Lernenden vermitteln, oder aber der grundsätzliche Verzicht auf diese Position. Welche Konsequenzen zieht solch eine andersartige Ausgestaltung nach sich? Dieser Frage wird anhand der Zusammenschau von Besetzung der Stakeholder-Position der Evaluatorin*des Evaluators mit dem Nutzungsdiskurs nachgegangen. Was im Hinblick auf die Chance der Nutzung Dialogischer Evaluationsergebnisse hieraus folgt, wird abschließend beleuchtet., Dialogical Evaluations follow a qualitative research logic for the assessment and optimisation of a course. Genuine dialogues create a foundation for exchange between teacher and students, with a goal of deriving negotiated measures for optimising the course in the time remaining in the semester. Since its development and first implementation at the University of Bremen, Dialogical Evaluation has been used at several universities in various forms. One important distinguishing feature here is the role of evaluators (i.e., student or professional evaluators who also function as moderators and mediate between students and teacher), or in some cases the decision to exclude such a position. What are the consequences of such different configurations? Here, we will answer this question by drawing on a review of the evaluator stakeholder-position and the discourse on evaluation use. Finally, we will show the consequences of the use of dialogical evaluation findings.

Mit der Einführung der neuen Pädagoginnen- und Pädagogenbildung in Österreich gehen Änderungen des Lehrer/ innendienstrechts einher. Eine Neuerung stellt die Umsetzung einer verpflichtenden Berufseinstiegsphase für alle Lehrerinnen und Lehrer dar. Dieser Artikel präsentiert am Beispiel eines Modellprojekts im Bundesland Steiermark, das in drei Schulbezirken von 2012 bis 2014 durchgeführt worden ist, Vorbereitungs- und Implementierungsstrategien von Mentoring im begleiteten Berufseinstieg. Am Beispiel der Primarstufe werden Gelingensbedingungenund relevante Faktoren von Mentoring und begleitenden Fortbildungsangeboten für Schulleiter/ innen, Mentorinnen und Mentoren sowie Berufseinsteiger/ innen diskutiert. (Autorenreferat), Due to the development of a new teacher training program in Austria, changes in service law come now into effect. These include obligatory support for all teachers during their first steps into the new profession. This article exemplarily outlines a model project in Styria (2012–2014) that considers strategies for preparing and implementing mentoring. Furthermore, circumstances and factors for a successful application of mentoring are discussed for teachers at the beginning of their careers in primary schools. (author's abstract)
