OPTIMISM - Abstract
The current research aims to form a standard to measure the orientation towards life among orphaned adolescents to provide researchers in the field of Mental Health with suitable standards for measuring Orientation towards life among Orphaned adolescents, The researcher has built the scale in the light the results of theoretical frameworks and previous studies that dealt with concept of orientation towards life, and it was reached the final image which consisted of (33) statement, distributed on three basic dimensions (Optimism, Pessimism, Orientation towards future). This scale was applied to a sample of (105) male and female orphan adolescents of residing in residential institutions and those residing among their extended families, of age ranged between 15-18 years, with a mean chronological age of (16.45), and a standard deviation of (0.87). The validity and reliability of the scale were measured to ensure of the psychometric efficiency of the scale, The researcher has followed in measuring the validity several methods, including the validity of the arbitrators, the validity of affirmative construction. As for the credibility of the scale the researcher relied on Alpha Cronbach's method, The half-segmentation method and retest method The scale seemed to has acceptable credibility and validity indications at (0.01).
