The Sálim Ali Centre for Ornithology and Natural History (SACON) has released a policy document for bird conservation in the urban landscape of the National Capital Region (NCR) in India. The NCR is home to almost one-third of India's bird species and is experiencing rapid urban growth. The document, developed in consultation with various stakeholders, outlines management priorities, strategic approaches, and financing for conserving avian diversity, habitats, and landscapes. It addresses 14 thematic areas, including the conservation of rare and threatened species, wetland birds, migratory birds, urban birds, and the impacts of development projects. The policy document aligns with the principles and policies discussed at the September 2023 G20 summit in New Delhi. [Extracted from the article]
