In this note, we will apply the results of Gross–Zagier, Gross–Kohnen–Zagier and their generalizations to give a short proof that the differences of singular moduli are not units. As a consequence, we obtain a result on isogenies between reductions of CM elliptic curves. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Let $\unicode[STIX]{x1D707}(m,n)$ (respectively, $\unicode[STIX]{x1D702}(m,n)$) denote the number of odd-balanced unimodal sequences of size $2n$ and rank $m$ with even parts congruent to $2\!\!\hspace{0.6em}{\rm mod}\hspace{0.2em}4$ (respectively, $0\!\!\hspace{0.6em}{\rm mod}\hspace{0.2em}4$) and odd parts at most half the peak. We prove that two-variable generating functions for $\unicode[STIX]{x1D707}(m,n)$ and $\unicode[STIX]{x1D702}(m,n)$ are simultaneously quantum Jacobi forms and mock Jacobi forms. These odd-balanced unimodal rank generating functions are also duals to partial theta functions originally studied by Ramanujan. Our results also show that there is a single $C^{\infty }$ function in $\mathbb{R}\times \mathbb{R}$ to which the errors to modularity of these two different functions extend. We also exploit the quantum Jacobi properties of these generating functions to show, when viewed as functions of the two variables $w$ and $q$ , how they can be expressed as the same simple Laurent polynomial when evaluated at pairs of roots of unity. Finally, we make a conjecture which fully characterizes the parity of the number of odd-balanced unimodal sequences of size $2n$ with even parts congruent to $0\!\!\hspace{0.6em}{\rm mod}\hspace{0.2em}4$ and odd parts at most half the peak. We discuss the generalizations of the concept of Chebyshev's bias from two perspectives. First, we give a general framework for the study of prime number races and Chebyshev's bias attached to general L-functions satisfying natural analytic hypotheses. This extends the cases previously considered by several authors and involving, among others, Dirichlet L-functions and Hasse–Weil L-functions of elliptic curves over Q. This also applies to new Chebyshev's bias phenomena that were beyond the reach of the previously known cases. In addition, we weaken the required hypotheses such as GRH or linear independence properties of zeros of L-functions. In particular, we establish the existence of the logarithmic density of the set {x ≥ 2: ∑p≤xλƒ(p) ≥ 0} for coefficients (λƒ(p)) of general L-functions conditionally on a much weaker hypothesis than was previously known. Let $d_{3}(n)$ be the divisor function of order three. Let $g$ be a Hecke–Maass form for $\unicode[STIX]{x1D6E4}$ with $\unicode[STIX]{x1D6E5}g=(1/4+t^{2})g$. Suppose that $\unicode[STIX]{x1D706}_{g}(n)$ is the $n$ th Hecke eigenvalue of  $g$. Using the Voronoi summation formula for $\unicode[STIX]{x1D706}_{g}(n)$ and the Kuznetsov trace formula, we estimate a shifted convolution sum of $d_{3}(n)$ and $\unicode[STIX]{x1D706}_{g}(n)$ and show that $$\begin{eqnarray}\mathop{\sum }_{n\leq x}d_{3}(n)\unicode[STIX]{x1D706}_{g}(n-1)\ll _{t,\unicode[STIX]{x1D700}}x^{8/9+\unicode[STIX]{x1D700}}.\end{eqnarray}$$ This corrects and improves the result of the author ['Shifted convolution sum of $d_{3}$ and the Fourier coefficients of Hecke–Maass forms', Bull. In this paper, we study real-dihedral harmonic Maass forms and their Fourier coefficients. The main result expresses the values of Hilbert modular forms at twisted CM 0-cycles in terms of these Fourier coefficients. This is a twisted version of the main theorem in Bruinier and Yang [CM-values of Hilbert modular functions, Invent. Math. 163 (2006), 229–288] and provides evidence that the individual Fourier coefficients are logarithms of algebraic numbers in the appropriate real-quadratic field. From this result and numerical calculations, we formulate an algebraicity conjecture, which is an analogue of Stark’s conjecture in the setting of harmonic Maass forms. In 2006, F. Luca and I. E. Shparlinski (Proc. Indian Acad. Sci. (Math. Sci.)116(1) (2006), 1–8) proved that there are only finitely many pairs (n, m) of positive integers which satisfy the Diophantine equation |τ(n!)|=m!, where τ is the Ramanujan function. In this paper, we follow the same approach of Luca and Shparlinski (Proc. Indian Acad. Sci. (Math. Sci.)116(1) (2006), 1–8) to determine all solutions of the above equation. The proof of our main theorem uses linear forms in two logarithms and arithmetic properties of the Ramanujan function. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]

Kloosterman sums for a finite field $\mathbb{F}_{p}$ arise as Frobenius trace functions of certain local systems defined over $\mathbb{G}_{m,\mathbb{F}_{p}}$. The moments of Kloosterman sums calculate the Frobenius traces on the cohomology of tensor powers (or symmetric powers, exterior powers, etc.) of these local systems. We show that when $p$ ranges over all primes, the moments of the corresponding Kloosterman sums for $\mathbb{F}_{p}$ arise as Frobenius traces on a continuous $\ell$-adic representation of $\text{Gal}(\overline{\mathbb{Q}}/\mathbb{Q})$ that comes from geometry. We also give bounds on the ramification of these Galois representations. All of this is done in the generality of Kloosterman sheaves attached to reductive groups introduced by Heinloth, Ngô and Yun [Ann. of Math. (2) 177 (2013), 241–310]. As an application, we give proofs of conjectures of Evans [Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. 138 (2010), 517–531; Israel J. Math. 175 (2010), 349–362] expressing the seventh and eighth symmetric power moments of the classical Kloosterman sum in terms of Fourier coefficients of explicit modular forms. This paper proves two results on the field of rationality $\mathbb{Q}({\it\pi})$ for an automorphic representation ${\it\pi}$, which is the subfield of $\mathbb{C}$ fixed under the subgroup of $\text{Aut}(\mathbb{C})$ stabilizing the isomorphism class of the finite part of ${\it\pi}$. For general linear groups and classical groups, our first main result is the finiteness of the set of discrete automorphic representations ${\it\pi}$ such that ${\it\pi}$ is unramified away from a fixed finite set of places, ${\it\pi}_{\infty }$ has a fixed infinitesimal character, and $[\mathbb{Q}({\it\pi}):\mathbb{Q}]$ is bounded. The second main result is that for classical groups, $[\mathbb{Q}({\it\pi}):\mathbb{Q}]$ grows to infinity in a family of automorphic representations in level aspect whose infinite components are discrete series in a fixed $L$-packet under mild conditions. In this paper, we construct a generalization of the Kohnen plus space for Hilbert modular forms of half-integral weight. The Kohnen plus space can be characterized by the eigenspace of a certain Hecke operator. It can be also characterized by the behavior of the Fourier coefficients. For example, in the parallel weight case, a modular form of weight $\kappa + (1/ 2)$ with $\xi \mathrm{th} $ Fourier coefficient $c(\xi )$ belongs to the Kohnen plus space if and only if $c(\xi )= 0$ unless $\mathop{(- 1)}\nolimits ^{\kappa } \xi $ is congruent to a square modulo $4$. The Kohnen subspace is isomorphic to a certain space of Jacobi forms. We also prove a generalization of the Kohnen–Zagier formula. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]
