The article presents information on Halifax Public Libraries' Keshen Goodman Branch designed for and by the community. In July 2001, doors to the Keshen Goodman Public Library were opened. Situated just 15 minutes from downtown Halifax, Nova Scotia, it was built to serve the expanding populations of the western region of Halifax Regional Municipality. Keshen Goodman Public Library is the result of a generous bequest left by philanthropist Marion Keshen. Born in Halifax, she was a regular library user. After her death in 1992, Halifax Libraries received $2.75 million. Those funds were to be used to build the library.
