Objective:To explore the relation of depression to quality of life and family support in patients with type 2 diabetes. Methods:Totally 775 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus from 4 community health care centers of Beijing were collected. They were assessed with the eight-item Patient Health Questionnaire depression scale(PHQ-8), Diabetes Specific Quality of Life Scale(DSQL),self-compiled Diabetes Family Support Questionnaire and self-compiled Diabetes Self-Efficacy Questionnaire.A binary logistic regression model was used to analyze the related factors of depression in patients with type 2 diabetes. Results:The positive rate of depression symptom screening was 16.8%(130/775).In the binary logistic regression model,females(OR=1.85),patients under 50 years old(OR=2.57) and with a disease course within 5 years(OR=2.91) were more likely to have depression symptoms.Patients with better quality of life(DSQL score,OR=0.10) and family criticism support better supplydemand matching(OR=0.62) were less likely to have depression symptoms. Conclusion:Female, younger age, shorter disease course, poorer quality of life and family criticism support with poorer supply-demand matching may be risk factors of depression symptoms in patients with type 2 diabetes in community.
