The author discusses her support of 2008 U.S. vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin. She comments on the sexualization of Palin in mass media and suggests that she was chosen as a running mate by 2008 U.S. presidential candidate John McCain to appeal to sexist conceptions of women. The author suggests her objectification by students during her career as a college professor may be due to conceptions of gender roles and maternity.
