Abstract

Research has been conducted on the pleiotropic COP/DET/FUS proteins which are capable of repressing photomorphogenesis in Arabidopsis. Results indicate that COP10 encodes a protein similar to the ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme variant proteins.

Abstract

FIN219 has been found to determine a link between the downstream regulator COP1 and phytochrome A in light control in Arabidopsis development. FIN219 is an auxin-regulated gene. Plants must adapt to changing environments, light being on of the very important ones. Study findings suggest FIN219 may be a critical link for phytochrome A-mediated far-red inactivation of COP1. To find genes involved in light inactivation of COP1, a genetic screen was used to identify extragenic modifier mutations of a temperature-sensitive cop1 allele.
