Introduction. CONAMED is an instance for patients to express their dissatisfaction when they perceive that the medical care was poor. Material and methods. Retrospective analysis of cases concluded in CONAMED during the period 2007- 2011, by type of service provided, type of conclusion, medical institutions and related specialties disagreements. Results. 70.588 cases were concluded in the following ways: guidance 48%, 33% Specialized counseling, complaints 12%, 5% immediate management and opinions 2.3%. Institutions with the highest number of complaints was 54.3% IMSS, and private services 24.5%. Most common specialties: emergency 17%, trauma and orthopedics 16% and obstetrics and gynecology 15%. Evidence of malpractice in 27% of the cases analyzed. Conclusions. CONAMED model has shown its advantages, since 85.2% of cases were resolved through guidance, expert advice and immediate management.
