The objective of this research was to characterize students who select an undergraduate major in physical education, in terms of their perceived self-efficacy in academic performance, by comparing their profile with that of students who select another major. The total sample was 2,089 students with a median age of 18.23 years (standard deviation = 0.74): 902 females and 1,187 males newly enrolled in undergraduate majors offered at the Universidad Autónoma de Chihuahua. The research adopted a quantitative focus with a descriptive design, ex post-facto and transversal. The results obtained from comparing students in physical education with students in other disciplines show that the perceived self-efficacy in academic behaviors is very similar among all of the students.
