In this article, the author presents her views on importance of faculty- and teacher-student relationships for Closing Opportunity Gaps. Topics discussed include importance of Micro-internships to expand networks and experiences, especially for low-income students ; importance of Supportive relationships with coaches, mentors and role models to help with student retention and degree attainment; and information on nonprofit Beyond 12, which offer virtual coaches to low-income students.
