The strategies established for HIV prevention directed at immigrant populations are diverse and not very specific about the characteristics of these groups. Objective: To analyze the concept of "primary prevention of HIV in the immigrant population". Methodology: The steps suggested by Walker and Avant were followed, so a structured review of the literature in dictionaries and databases (Embase, Pubmed and Ebsco) was carried out. Results: There is no evidence of the existence of a definition on the specific term, so a proposal is made that encompasses the strategies identified in the literature, specific in this population. Conclusions: primary prevention of HIV in migrants is identified as a great opportunity to strengthen coverage of universal access to vulnerable populations, as well as being a complex process that requires a multidisciplinary approach in structural, biomedical and behavioral areas that are developed with the axis being adaptations to cultural needs. Justification: Immigration in Spain is a very important phenomenon which reverberates in the field of the health. Objective: To investigate the relation between the choice of epidural anesthesia and the nationality of the women, and in turn, to observe if other factors also influence this decision. Design and Methodology: Quantitative, cross-sectional and descriptive study of 634 women who have given birth at the Northwestern Hospital in the Region of Murcia. The variables selected were: obstetric history, age, type of anesthesia, the nationality of women and reasons of rejection of epidural anesthesia. Results: The 8, 51% of women who have given birth in the Northwestern Hospital in the Region of Murcia in 2010 were immigrants. As for nationality, 20, 37% of women immigrants have not used any type of anesthesia. We found a significant difference with the Spanish immigrant women in which only 4, 31% rejected (P< 0,001). In relation to abortions, women who do not prefer any anesthesia are those who do have abortions (P<0, 05). Younger ages for women, 16 to 25 years, is associated with no use of epidural anesthesia (P<0, 05). Conclusion: Immigrant women make less use of epidural anesthesia. It is a challenge for nurses to learn the different cultures and to carry out work in an increasingly multicultural society. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The changes in demographic, economic, socio-cultural and health foster the emergence of a new set of caregivers: the hired caregiver, covered generally by immigrant women. This article is a study that aims to inquire into this new reality, focusing mainly on knowing the experiences and emotions of immigrant carers in relation to people and their environment maintained. The study, a qualitative research, collected through direct testimony of caregivers, which is their lived experiences, that is, the stories of a difficult and complex context, where it crosses a double need for affection: on one hand, the one of those suffering bereavement of immigration, by the distancing of their own family, by the harshness and precariousness of their migrant status and on the other hand, those who in old age, beyond physical dependence, suffer from loneliness. It demonstrates the emotional and relational nature of care and the positive contributions of these immigrant women to a situation characteristic of global societies, and with aging populations. In Spain, immigration is a recent and exponentially increasing phenomenon. In the geographical area corresponding to the department of health no.18, most immigrants come from South America, Morocco and Romania. The feeding patterns of these people have a strategic value regarding culture and health. We present a work in which 170 immigrants have been interviewed, with the aim of assessing one of the main aspects: food consumption. The results indicate that immigrants maintain a balanced consumption of immediate principles, although some basic foods groups are insufficiently consumed by them. In addition, the length of their stay could be considered a crucial factor towards the assimilation of the currently unbalanced nutritional pattern of Spanish people. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Nursing, profession specialized in caring for people, faces in these moments the fact of having to care for people from other cultures. Sometimes only negative aspects from them are perceived and often without even being conscious of such perception. Thus, the aim of this work is to motivate reflection and critical thought on the problem of working with stereotypes of others. Hope is placed on mutual respect based on previous knowledge.
