The article reports on the issues for selecting collections and describing collection contents in the Digitization of the California history collection of the University of the Pacific's library. According to the author, photographic collections were first selected for digitization because of its broad use. Furthermore, selection and documentation process of the collections for digitization are discussed in the article. Among the collections that were digitalized by the university includes the stereographic images of the photographer Charles Pitcher Spooner, the aerial photographs of the University's campus in Stockton and the photographs of the nature writer John Muir.
