Multidisciplinary approach is the standard in Oncology care to optimize results. In this article we present this standard methodology and one case of parotid sarcoma. Parotid tumors represent 3% of all head and neck neoplasms. Eighty percent of all cases are benign tumors, mainly pleomorphic adenoma. Mucoepidermoid carcinoma is the most frequent malignant tumor. Parotid sarcomas are very infrequent. The biological behavior of this type of sarcoma has been described in few series with small number of cases. Gastric Cancer is one of the leading cancer diseases in Mexico. Unfortunately the vast majority of patients have advanced disease when they first seek for medical care, as it happens in many occidental countries. Treatments in these stages of disease are based on multimodal therapies, mainly surgery. In trying to prolong overall survival for this neoplasm, novel treatment modalities have been included in new trials. In this review we present epidemiological statistics in Mexico, proposed etiological factors, their clinical features, the recommended diagnostic studies and a review of the existing classifications and present different surgical techniques based on clinical stage as well as the psycho-oncology approach a the quality of life issues with the aim to schematize the integral way to approach patients with gastric cancer since an holistic perspective. Objective. Report the experience in our hospital in the use of stents in the upper digestive system cancer patients in palliative care for obstruction and fistulas or post-surgical event with the presence of high anastomotic leak. Material and methods. Books were reviewed interventional radiology service and followed up patients who were placed in the upper gastrointestinal tract stent in a period of three years. They scored their demographics, indication, and whether it was useful or not placement. Monitoring was defined whether they were alive, dead or lost with or without disease. Results. 11 patients were obtained. There were five women, mean age was 63.3 (range 44-90). Two cases were fistulas; five cases were anastomotic leakage and four cases of obstruction of the digestive tract. In ten cancer cases could be documented, eight of gastric origin, two in the esophagus and the patient with the fistula esofagopleural although endoscopy was performed three times for biopsy, none were diagnosed with malignancy. At the time it was completed to collect the information only has three living patients, one with systemic treatment tumor activity and two without disease. Conclusions. The procedure for placing stents by interventional radiology is a big success. Can be used in fistulas, anastomotic leaks and upper gastrointestinal obstruction. It is a management alternative to avoid palliative surgical procedures in case of obstruction by reducing the length of hospitalization and surgical procedure and its complications. It is a rescue tool in cases of patients with anastomotic leak rates. And have a big success to alleviate the high fistulas. Introduction. Gastric cancer has a high mortality rate worldwide wich detection is mode through endoscopy. Objective. To stablish the diagnostic accuracy for gastric cancer histological biopsies taken by endoscopy in the period January to December 2007. Material and methods. A total of 940 patients charts with psitive endoscopic were reviewed was perfomed to compare. Results. We included 940 patients, 780 (82.97%) with benign-looking ulcer, 160 (17.02%) malignant ulcer by endoscopy, the latter in 45 (28.1%) were histologically confirmed malignancy, in 115 studies (71.8%) is not reported in cancer biopsy. Of the 45 patients with a diagnosis of malignancy and 35 of them were diagnosed in the first review and during six months follow-up, ten patients were retreated another endoscopy for suspected malignancy in which confirmed the diagnosis. Endoscopy sensitivity for diagnosis of gastric cancer was 0.28. Histological examination sensitivity of the first endoscope for diagnosis of gastric cancer was 0.77. Conclusions. The results of this study shed the accuracy of endoscopy for the diagnosis of gastric cancer is lower than that determined by the literature. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
