According to a report by the U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission, China has been increasing its level of corporate espionage and gave an example of a concerted cyber attack on one unnamed high-technology company. The commission said that the attack was probably sanctioned by the government of China, because of the sophisticated and professional aspects of the operation.

The United States Department of Justice's arrest of four individuals on charges of spying for China have drawn criticism from Chinese authorities, who call the charges baseless. Officials in the U.S. have said that these cases show how China collects information about the U.S. weapons sales and space programs.
