An introduction to the journal is presented in which the authors discuss topics addressed in the issue, which include the promotion of English-speaking communities in Quebec (ESCQ), differences in schooling in Quebec and Vermont in history, and tourism on Lake Memphremagog, Quebec.

The article presents an overview of an action research study into the socioeconomic status and access to health care for English-speaking Canadians living in Quebec. The author describes the challenges that this group faces in accessing health care services and the work that Quebec's Community and Social Services Network has done to improve this access across regions of Quebec by working with 18 regional partners.

The article focuses on the role that voluntary community associations working with the English-speaking populations of Quebec City, Quebec, have had in the promotion of public health initiatives and in providing other social services. Among the topics discussed are how these organizations have worked on HIV prevention, elder care, and alcohol abuse prevention. The authors describe information from interviews with organizers and participants in these voluntary organizations and present information about certain organizations that have ceased to operate.

An introduction is presented to a special issue on Quebec which discusses various reports within the issue on topics including immigration, the English-speaking communities of Quebec (ESCQ), and ice cider.

An introduction to articles in this issue on topics such as immigration and integration in Quebec's English-speaking areas, a French-speaking cultural organization in 19th century Sherbrooke, Quebec, and a story about the settlement of a Scottish immigrant family in 19th century Quebec, is presented.
