Medical wound dressings are effective in protecting wounds, maintaining moisture, creating an optimal healing environment and accelerating wound healing. However, their deficiencies in mechanical properties, adhesion and prevention of adhesion to the wound bed have been identified as limiting factors for their therapeutic efficacy in wound healing. To address these issues, we prepared glycosilicone gel dressings consisting of hydrophobic polysiloxanes and highly hydrophilic polysaccharides via ester exchange and silicone hydrogen addition reactions. Silicone gel dressings exhibit skin-like "respiratory" properties, with good permeability to O 2 and CO 2 . Additionally, elongation and other important parameters are similar to those of the skin, which provides a foundation for the application of silicone gels in the field of wound dressings. The introduction of Aloe vera polysaccharide (AP) results in the glycosilicone gel exhibiting certain mechanical properties, including a tensile strength of 0.35 MPa and an adhesion force of 10 N/m. Furthermore, a mouse model of total skin defect demonstrated that the wound healing rate of the mice on the 12th day was 98 %, which effectively promotes wound healing. Aluminum‑lithium (AlLi) alloy polishing and grinding processes in wet dust collector systems could cause hydrogen fire and explosion. From the fundamental perspective of preventing hydrogen explosions, a safe, nontoxic, and sustainable modified green hydrogen inhibitor based on chitosan (CS) and sodium alginate (SA) was developed in this study and was used as a hydrogen evolution inhibitor for the processing of waste dust from AlLi alloys. The structure and elemental distribution of the synthesized material were characterized through characterization experiments. Hydrogen evolution experiments and a hydrolysis kinetic model were used to explore the inhibitory effect of modified CS/SA on AlLi alloy dust, and the results revealed that the inhibitory concentration of the hydrogen explosion lower limit was 0.40 wt%, with an inhibition efficiency of 91.93 %, indicating an 11.88-61.44 % improvement over that of CS and SA. As the inhibitor concentration increased and the temperature decreased, the hydrogen inhibition effect increased. Characterization experiments and density functional theory showed that CS/SA primarily formed a dense physical protective barrier on the dust surface through chemical adsorption and complexation reactions, interrupting the hydrogen evolution reaction between the metal and water. In this study, a low field nuclear magnetic resonance (LF-NMR) homogeneous sensor was constructed for detection of Escherichia coli (E. coli) based on the copper metabolism of E. coli triggered click reaction. When live E. coli was present, a large amount of Cu 2+ ions were transformed into Cu +  via copper metabolism, which then catalyzed a Cu + -catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAC) reaction between two materials, azide group modified gadolinium oxide nanorods (Gd 2 O 3 -Az) and PA-GO@Fe 3 O 4 i.e., graphene oxide (GO) loaded with large amounts of alkynyl (PA) groups and Fe 3 O 4 nanoparticles simultaneously. After magnetic separation, unbound Gd 2 O 3 -Az was dissolved by added hydrochloric acid (HCl) to generate homogeneous Gd 3+ solution, enabling homogeneous detection of E. coli. Triple signal amplification was achieved through the CuAAC reaction induced by E. coli copper metabolism, functional nanomaterials, and HCl assisted homogeneous detection. Under the optimal experimental conditions, the linear range and limit of detection (LOD) for E. coli were 10-1.0 × 10 7  CFU/mL and 3.5 CFU/mL, respectively, and the relative standard deviations (RSDs) were all less than 2.8 %. The North China Plain (NCP), known for its dense population, extensive urbanization, and developed industry and agriculture, faces one of the foremost ozone (O 3 ) pollution issues nationwide and even globally. Currently, most studies focus on daytime peak O 3 levels, with insufficient understanding of the increase in nighttime O 3 concentrations. Based on data from 204 national atmospheric composition monitoring sites in the NCP from 2015 to 2023, we investigated the characteristics of nocturnal surface O 3 enhancement (NSOE) events and explored potential formation mechanisms. The mean annual frequencies of single-site and regional NSOE event in the NCP between 2015 and 2023 are 42 % and 21 %, respectively. The daytime peak O 3 concentrations before and after NSOE events exceeded those during the corresponding periods of non-NSOE events by 84 ± 19 and 32 ± 15 μg/m 3 , respectively. The overall effect of the NSOE events was to decelerate the rate of decline in nighttime O 3 concentrations and resulted in a reduction of NO 2 and CO concentrations from 22:00 onwards. Low level jet (LLJ) and vertical mixing were the main factors affecting NSOE events in the NCP. The proportion of NSOE events affected by LLJ in four representative cities ranged from 57.6 % to 79.5 %. Furthermore, the high concentration of O 3 in the residual layer before the NSOE event and the reduction of atmospheric stability during the NSOE event favored downward mixing of upper layer O 3 . The primary weather systems influencing the four most severe regional NSOE events were LLJ, typhoon, and cold fronts. The first two events were dominated by vertical mixing of O 3 , while the latter two events were mainly affected by horizontal transport. Dithiocarbamates have been widely used in various industrial applications, such as insecticides (ferbam) or drug (disulfiram). This study explored the inhibitory effects of dithiocarbamates on human and rat gonadal 3β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenases (3β-HSD) and investigated the structure-activity relationship and mechanistic insights. The inhibitory activity of six dithiocarbamates and thiourea on the conversion of pregnenolone to progesterone was evaluated using human KGN cell and rat testicular microsomes, with subsequent progesterone measurement using HPLC-MS/MS. The study found that among the tested compounds disulfiram, ferbam, and thiram exhibited significant inhibitory activity against human 3β-HSD2 and rat 3β-HSD1, with ferbam demonstrating the highest potency. The mode of action for these compounds was characterized, showing mixed inhibition for human 3β-HSD2 and mixed/noncompetitive inhibition for rat 3β-HSD1. Additionally, it was observed that dithiothreitol dose-dependently reversed the inhibitory effects of dithiocarbamates on both human and rat gonadal 3β-HSD enzymes. The study also delved into the penetration of these dithiocarbamates through the human KGN cell membrane and their impact on progesterone production, highlighting their potency in inhibiting human 3β-HSD2. Furthermore, bivariate correlation analysis revealed a positive correlation of LogP (lipophilicity) with IC 50 values for both enzymes. Docking analysis indicated that dithiocarbamates bind to NAD + and steroid-binding sites, with some interactions with cysteine residues. Background: Australian states and territories used test-trace-isolate-quarantine (TTIQ) systems extensively in their response to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020-2021. We report on an analysis of Australian case data to estimate the impact of test-trace-isolate-quarantine systems on SARS-CoV-2 transmission., Methods: Our analysis uses a novel mathematical modelling framework and detailed surveillance data on COVID-19 cases including dates of infection and dates of isolation. First, we directly translate an empirical distribution of times from infection to isolation into reductions in potential for onward transmission during periods of relatively low caseloads (tens to hundreds of reported cases per day). We then apply a simulation approach, validated against case data, to assess the impact of case-initiated contact tracing on transmission during a period of relatively higher caseloads and system stress (up to thousands of cases per day)., Results: We estimate that under relatively low caseloads in the state of New South Wales (tens of cases per day), TTIQ contributed to a 54% reduction in transmission. Under higher caseloads in the state of Victoria (hundreds of cases per day), TTIQ contributed to a 42% reduction in transmission. Our results also suggest that case-initiated contact tracing can support timely quarantine in times of system stress (thousands of cases per day)., Conclusion: Contact tracing systems for COVID-19 in Australia were highly effective and adaptable in supporting the national suppression strategy from 2020-21, prior to the emergence of the Omicron variant in November 2021. Biodegradable self-healing hydrogels with antibacterial property attracted growing attentions in biomedication as wound dressings since they can prevent bacterial infection and promote wound healing process. In this research, a biodegradable self-healing hydrogel with ROS scavenging performance and enhanced tissue adhesion was fabricated from dopamine grafted oxidized pectin (OPD) and naphthoate hydrazide terminated PEO (PEO NH). At the same time, Fe 3+ ions were incorporated to endow the hydrogel with near-infrared (NIR) triggered photothermal property to obtain antibacterial activity. The composite hydrogel showed good hemostasis performance based on mussel inspired tissue adhesion with biocompatibility well preserved. As expected, the composition of FeCl 3 improved conductivity and endowed photothermal property to the hydrogel. The in vivo wound repairing experiment revealed the 808 nm NIR light triggered photothermal behavior of the hydrogel reduced the inflammation response and promoted wound repairing rate. Microplastics and antibiotics not only pollute aquatic environments and threaten human health, but are also tricky to remove. Microplastics adsorb antibiotics, and, before being released into the natural environment, most microplastics pass through some wastewater treatment and/or disinfection (such as chlorination) facilities. It is therefore necessary to understand how these treatment processes may affect or alter microplastics' properties, particularly their ability to adsorb antibiotics, and whether or not the two, when bound together, may present exacerbated harm to the environment. This study used both laboratory tests and molecular dynamics simulation to investigate the mechanism through which chlorinated microplastics (specifically polystyrene) adsorb the antibiotic tetracycline, and showed that chlorination gave the polystyrene a larger interaction area (> 21%) and more free energy (> 14%) to adsorb tetracycline. Van der Waals (vdW) forces played a more dominant role than electrostatics in facilitating tetracycline's adsorption. Moreover, a density functional theory analysis demonstrated that the vdW potentials of the microplastics decreased as more and more hydrogen atoms became replaced by chlorine, suggesting a facilitation of the adsorption of polycyclic antibiotic molecules. The experimental results confirmed the simulation's prediction that a higher degree of chlorination significantly increases the polystyrene's adsorption capacity, whereas pH and salinity had almost no effect on the adsorption. In this work, three morpholine-modified polyacrylamide derivatives (MMPAm) were successfully prepared by free radical polymerization of monomers with morpholine moiety. The intramolecular aggregation of morpholine rings on macromolecular backbone gives MMPAm a significant polymerization-induced emission (PIE). Particularly, poly(N-morpholine acrylamide) (PNMPA) has the characteristics of strong fluorescence at 450 nm, and its fluorescence quantum yield reaches 2.87 %. The introduction of morpholine moiety, the length of CH 2 spacer between morpholine ring and the backbone and the molecular weight play the important roles in PIE properties of PNMPA. Interestingly, PNMPA can recognize and detect Cu 2+ specifically even in the presence of 12 other metal ions by thorough fluorescence quenching, and the detection limit of PNMPA is 17.3 μM. Furthermore, the dynamic quenching of PNMPA by Cu 2+ ions and the complexation ratio of 1:2 according to JOB's working diagram were confirmed by fluorescence titration. Under the assistance of EDTA, a reversible detection system for Cu 2+ is achieved, and a portable test paper from PNMPA for the detection of Cu 2+ was also made. Intense human activities have significantly altered the concentrations of atmospheric components that enter ecosystems through wet and dry deposition, thereby affecting elemental cycles. However, atmospheric wet deposition multi-elemental stoichiometric ratios are poorly understood, hindering systematic exploration of atmospheric deposition effects on ecosystems. Monthly precipitation concentrations of six elements-nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), sulfur (S), potassium (K), calcium (Ca), and magnesium (Mg)-were measured from 2013 to 2021 by the China Wet Deposition Observation Network (ChinaWD). The multi-elemental stoichiometric ratio of atmospheric wet deposition in Chinese terrestrial ecosystems was N: K: Ca: Mg: S: P = 31: 11: 67: 5.5: 28: 1, and there were differences between vegetation zones. Wet deposition N: S and N: Ca ratios exhibited initially increasing then decreasing inter-annual trends, whereas N: P ratios did not exhibit significant trends, with strong interannual variability. Wet deposition of multi-elements was significantly spatially negatively correlated with soil nutrient elements content (except for N), which indicates that wet deposition could facilitate soil nutrient replenishment, especially for nutrient-poor areas. Wet N deposition and N: P ratios were spatially negatively correlated with ecosystem and soil P densities. Meanwhile, wet deposition N: P ratios were all higher than those of ecosystem components (vegetation, soil, litter, and microorganisms) in different vegetation zones. High input of N deposition may reinforce P limitations in part of the ecosystem. This study applies Value-Belief-Norm (VBN) theory to investigate fishers' pro-environmental behavioral intention and their support for policies to reduce marine litter. While pro-environmental behavioral intention is often associated with personal environmental intention at the household level, policy support represents their support for government action at the political level. Therefore, we examine whether fishers are willing to engage in both of these dimensions. Data from 369 Vietnamese fishers are analyzed using structural equation modeling with FIMIX-PLS and PLS-POS. The results show that the sequence of values, beliefs, and personal norms can explain the fishers' pro-environmental behavioral intention and their support for policies addressing marine litter. Two segments of the fishers are detected from the sample with different perspectives of engagement intention. Fishers in segment 1 placed great emphasis on the consequences of marine litter on fishing activities as a motivator for their responsible actions. Meanwhile, fishers in segment 2 express pro-environmental engagement intention driven by the concern about responsibility and moral obligation. A binary logistic regression indicates that the risks of marine litter on fishing activity can provide the explanations for the differences between them. Our findings highlight both fishers' pro-environmental behavior and policy support as important strategies for dealing with marine litter in fisheries. With the rise of the concept of carbon neutrality, the current wastewater treatment process of industrial organic wastewater is moving towards the goal of energy conservation and carbon emission reduction. The advantages of anaerobic digestion (AD) processes in industrial organic wastewater treatment for bio-energy recovery, which is in line with the concept of carbon neutrality. This study summarized the significance and advantages of the state-of-the-art AD processes were reviewed in detail. The application of expanded granular sludge bed (EGSB) reactors and anaerobic membrane bioreactor (AnMBR) were particularly introduced for the effective treatment of industrial organic wastewater treatment due to its remarkable prospect of engineering application for the high-strength wastewater. This study also looks forward to the optimization of the AD processes through the enhancement strategies of micro-aeration pretreatment, acidic-alkaline pretreatment, co-digestion, and biochar addition to improve the stability of the AD system and energy recovery from of industrial organic wastewater. The integration of anaerobic ammonia oxidation (Anammox) with the AD processes for the post-treatment of nitrogenous pollutants for the industrial organic wastewater is also introduced as a feasible carbon-neutral process. The combination of AnMBR and Anammox is highly recommended as a promising carbon-neutral process for the removal of both organic and inorganic pollutants from the industrial organic wastewater for future perspective. Membrane technologies are effective for treating leachate, but they generate leachate concentrates (LCs), which contain elevated humic acids (HAs) and metals. LCs are very challenging and expensive to treat; but in-situ coagulation-electrochemical oxidation (CO-EO) treatment is promising. We previously hypothesized and proved that substituting the widely used graphite cathode with an Al cathode will generate Al(OH) 3 floccules that would enhance HAs removal in CO-EO systems. However, the fundamental mechanisms are unclear. Here, we examined this hypothesis using laboratory experiments (using an Al cathode and a Ti/Ti 4 O 7 anode CO-EO system) and performed molecular dynamics (MD) simulation to investigate the underlying mechanisms. Up to 84.2% HAs was removed by the Al-cathode system, which is ∼10% higher than a graphite cathode-based system. Based on MD simulation we found that enhanced HAs removal occurred via two steps: (1) degradation by oxidants produced at the anode, and (2) subsequent coagulation with the Al(OH) 3 generated from the Al cathode. This finding challenges the current belief that whole HAs and Al(OH) 3 directly flocculate. Meanwhile, metal removal efficiency by the graphite cathode system was only 0.8-13.9%, which increased up to 13-folds at most when in the Al cathode system. Antifreeze (glyco) proteins [AF(G)Ps], which are widely present in various extreme microorganisms, can control the formation and growth of ice crystals. Given the significance of cryogenic technology in biomedicine, climate science, electronic energy, and other fields of research, scientists are quite interested in the development and synthesis high-efficiency bionic antifreeze protein materials, particularly to reproduce their dynamic ice shaping (DIS) characteristics. Single ice crystal shaping materials, a promising class of ice-controlling materials, can alter the morphology and growth rate of ice crystals at low temperatures. This review aims to highlight the development of single ice crystal shaping materials and provide a brief comparison between a series of natural and bionic synthetic materials with DIS ability, which include AF(G)Ps, polymers, salts, and nanomaterials. Additionally, we summarize their applications in cryopreservation. Finally, this paper presents the current challenges and prospects encountered in developing high-efficiency and practical single ice crystal shaping materials. STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE: The formation and growth of ice crystals hold a significant importance to an incredibly broad range of fields. Therefore, the design and fabrication of the single ice crystal shaping materials have gained the increasing popularity due to its key role in dynamic ice shaping (DIS) characteristics. Especially, single ice crystal shaping materials are considered one of the most promising candidates as ice inhibitors, presenting tremendous prospects for enhancing cryopreservation. In this work, we focus on the molecular characteristics, structure-function relationships, and DIS mechanisms of typical natural and biomimetic synthetic materials. In this study, yeast dietary fiber (YDF) was incorporated into konjac glucomannan/kappa-carrageenan (KGM/κ-KC) for the development of fat analogs, and the impact of YDF on the gelation properties and behavior of KGM/κ-KC composite gels was assessed. YDF improved the composite gel whiteness value, and affected the mechanical properties of the composite gel, especially enhancing its hardness, and decreasing its chewiness, elasticity, and gel strength, making it more similar to porcine back fat. When the yeast dietary fiber content was 0.033 g/mL and the heating temperature was 80 °C (T80-2), the textural properties of the composite gel were closest to porcine back fat. The frequency sweep results suggested that YDF incorporation led to enhancement of the intermolecular interaction and intermixing and interaction among more easily at higher processing temperatures (80 °C and 90 °C). By scanning electron microscopy, the fatty surface of porcine back fat was flat and covered with a large amount of oil, while KGM/κ-KC/YDF composite gels developed a dense, stacked network structure. YDF caused more fragmented, folded, and uneven structures to emerge. Overall, YDF could influence the gel behavior of KGM/κ-KC composite gels, and change their colors and mechanical properties. Low-density lipoprotein (LDL) is the main carrier of cholesterol transport in plasma, which participates in regulating lipid homeostasis. Studies in mammals have shown that high levels of LDL in plasma absorbed by macrophages trigger the formation of lipid-rich foam cells, leading to the development of atherosclerotic plaques. Although lipid-rich atherosclerosis-like lesions have been discovered in the aorta of several fish species, the physiological function of LDL in fish macrophages remains poorly understood. In the present study, LDL was isolated from the plasma of large yellow croaker (Larimichthys crocea), and mass spectrometry analysis identified two truncated forms of apolipoprotein B100 in the LDL protein profile. Transcriptomic analysis of LDL-stimulated macrophages revealed that differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were enriched in various pathways related to lipid metabolism, as confirmed by the fact that LDL increased total cholesterol and cholesteryl esters content. Meanwhile, the gene and protein expression levels of perilipin2 (PLIN2), a DEG enriched in the PPAR signaling pathway, were upregulated in response to LDL stimulation. Importantly, knocking down plin2 significantly attenuates LDL-induced cholesterol accumulation and promotes cholesterol efflux. Furthermore, the transcription factor PPARγ, which is upregulated in response to LDL stimulation, can enhance the promoter activity of plin2. In conclusion, this study suggests that LDL may upregulate plin2 expression through PPARγ, resulting in cholesterol accumulation in fish macrophages. Organic nitrogen (N) is an important component of atmospheric reactive N deposition, and its bioavailability is almost as important as that of inorganic N. Currently, there are limited reports of national observations of organic N deposition; most stations are concentrated in rural and urban areas, with even fewer long-term observations of natural ecosystems in remote areas. Based on the China Wet Deposition Observation Network, this study regularly collected monthly wet deposition samples from 43 typical ecosystems from 2013 to 2021 and measured related N concentrations. The aim was to provide a more comprehensive assessment of the multi-component characteristics of atmospheric wet N deposition and reveal the influencing factors and potential sources of wet dissolved organic N (DON) deposition. The results showed that atmospheric wet deposition fluxes of NO 3 - , NH 4 + , DON and dissolved total N (DTN) were 4.68, 5.25, 4.32, and 13.05 kg N ha -1  yr -1 , respectively, and that DON accounted for 30 % of DTN deposition (potentially up to 50 % in remote areas). Wet DON deposition was related to anthropogenic emissions (agriculture, biomass burning, and traffic), natural emissions (volatile organic compound emissions from vegetation), and precipitation processes. The wet DON deposition flux was higher in South, Central, and Southwest China, with more precipitation and intensive agricultural activities or more vegetation cover, and lower in Northwest China and Inner Mongolia, with less precipitation and human activities or vegetation cover. DON was the main contributor to DTN deposition in remote areas and was possibly related to natural emissions. In rural and urban areas, DON may have been more influenced by agricultural activities and anthropogenic emissions. This study quantified the long-term spatiotemporal patterns of wet N deposition and provides a reference for future N addition experiments and N cycle studies. Herein, a Faraday cage-type electrochemiluminescence biosensor was designed for the detection of human breast cancer cell MCF-7. Two kinds of nanomaterials, Fe 3 O 4 -APTs and GO@PTCA-APTs, were synthesized as capture unit and signal unit, respectively. In presence of the target MCF-7, the Faraday cage-type electrochemiluminescence biosensor was constructed by forming a complex "capture unit-MCF-7-signal unit". In this case, lots of electrochemiluminescence signal probes were assembled and could participate in the electrode reaction, achieving a significant increase in sensitivity. In addition, the double aptamer recognition strategy was adopted to improve the capture, enrichment efficiency and detection reliability. Under optimal experimental conditions, the limit of detection was 3 cells/mL. Toxic heavy metals in industrial hazardous waste incineration (IHWI) fly ash can be effectively stabilized by using microwave-assisted hydrothermal technology. However, few works have focused on the relationship between mineralogical conversion and stability of heavy metals of fly ash during hydrothermal process. This study investigated the effect of mineral phase transition process on the stabilization and migration behavior of heavy metals in IHWI fly ash using coal fly ash as silicon‑aluminum additive. Mineral composition analysis reveals that after microwave-assisted hydrothermal treatment (MAHT) of IHWI fly ash, zeolite-like minerals (e.g., tobermorite, katoite and sodalite), secondary aluminosilicate minerals (e.g., prehnite and anorthite) and other newly-formed minerals (e.g., wollastonite, pectolite and larnite) were found. The leaching concentrations of heavy metals (Cr, Ni, Cu, Zn, Cd and Pb) in IHWI fly ash decrease sharply after MAHT with the most obvious decreases in Cu, Pb and Zn. Spearman correlation analysis show significantly negative correlation between the content of zeolite-like minerals and the leaching concentrations of most heavy metals (e.g., Ni, Cu, Zn, Cd and Pb). These results suggest that the immobilization effects of heavy metals in IHWI fly ash can be effectively enhanced by promoting the formation of zeolite-like minerals during the MAHT. Whether in aquaculture or in nature, starvation stress limits the growth of fish. The purpose of the study was to clarify the detailed molecular mechanisms underlying starvation stress in Korean rockfish (Sebastes schlegelii) through liver transcriptome and metabolome analysis. Transcriptome results showed that liver genes associated with cell cycle and fatty acid synthesis were down-regulated, whereas those related to fatty acid decomposition were up-regulated in the experimental group (EG; starved for 72 days) compared to the control group (CG; feeding). Metabolomic results showed that there were significant differences in the levels of metabolites related to nucleotide metabolism and energy metabolism, such as purine metabolism, histidine metabolism and oxidative phosphorylation. Five fatty acids (C22:6n-3; C22:5n-3; C20:5n-3; C20:4n-3; C18:3n-6) were selected as possible biomarkers of starvation stress from the differential metabolites of metabolome. Subsequently, correlation between these differential genes of lipid metabolism and cell cycle and differential metabolites were analyzed, and observed that these five fatty acids were significantly correlated with the differential genes. These results provide new clues for understanding the role of fatty acid metabolism and cell cycle in fish under starvation stress. The complex and rigid floc structure often limits the reutilization of waste activated sludge (WAS). Electrochemical pretreatment (EPT) is one of the most effective technologies that can enhance WAS disintegration. But a comprehensive investigation into how multiple EPT conditions work was rarely reported. The study evaluated the effects of multiple EPT conditions, i.e., different electrolytes (NaCl, Na 2 SO 4 , and CaCl 2 ), electrolytes dosage (0 g/L, 0.5 g/L, 1.0 g/L, and 3.0 g/L), EPT current (0 A, 0.5 A, 1.0 A, and 3.0 A) and EPT time (0 min, 30 min, 60 min, and 90 min) on WAS disintegration. The results showed that NaCl was outstanding from other electrolytes in promoting more WAS disintegration. Besides, a relatively higher NaCl dosage, a higher EPT current, and a longer EPT time promoted more reactive chlorine species (RCS), thus enhancing WAS disintegration in terms of extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) structure destruction and biodegradable organic matter release. After EPT for 60 min at NaCl dosage of 1.0 g/L and current of 1.0 A, the EPS multilayer structure destruction, biodegradable organic matters release, and soluble chemical oxygen demand (SCOD) increase in the supernatant were enhanced by 17.2 %, 130.5 %, and 238.7 %, respectively. Then a predictive quadratic model was established and the impact significance of the above EPT factors for enhancing WAS disintegration followed dosage of NaCl > current > EPT time. The yellow color of the skin is an important economic trait for yellow chickens. Low and non-uniform skin yellowness would reduce economic efficiency. However, the regulatory mechanism of chicken skin yellowness has not been fully elucidated. In this study, we evaluated the skin yellowness of 819 chickens by colorimeter and digital camera, which are from the same batch and the same age of 2 pure lines with significant differences in skin yellowness. A total of 982 candidate differential expressed genes (DEGs) were detected in duodenal tissue by RNA-seq analysis for high and low yellowness chickens. Among the DEGs, we chose fatty acid translocase (CD36) gene and identified a single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) upstream of the CD36 gene that was significantly associated with skin yellowness at multiple parts of the chicken, and its different genotypes had significant effects on the promoter activity of the CD36 gene. Activated sludge (AS) offers great potential for resource recovery considering its high organic and nutrient content. However, low recovery efficiency and high costs are directing the focus toward the high-valuable resource recovery. This study extracted 71.5 ± 5.9 mg/g VSS of alginate-like exopolysaccharides from AS (ALE/AS) and applied it to mortar as a novel biopolymer agent for crack self-healing. With a mortar crack of 120 μm, addition of 0.5 wt% ALE/AS yielded a high crack closure ratio of 86.5 % within 28 days. In comparison to commercial healing agents, marginal flexural strength reduction with ALE/AS addition (17.9 % vs 30.2-50.5 %) was demonstrated. The abundance of COO - group in GG blocks of ALE/AS resulted in a higher cross-link capacity with Ca 2+ , while the reduction of hydrophilic residues (e.g., COO - and OH) after complexation engendered a lower swelling capacity, which facilitated self-healing and flexural strength maintenance. Molecular dynamics (MD) revealed that lower Ca 2+ diffusivity, arising from the stronger electrostatic interactions between the COO - groups and Ca 2+ , resulted in a high Ca 2+ concentration around the cracks, leading to CaCO 3 deposition and healed cracks. A comprehensive set of observations were collected along a sea-coast-inland area. According to these observations, the planetary boundary layer heights (PBLH) during winter and summer for sampling locations in sea, coast, and inland areas were 737 m, 483 m and 372 m, and 450 m, 645 m and 646 m, respectively. Little seasonal difference was observed for the daily variation of sensible heat flux over the sea, with the maximum of 55 W/m 2 at 12:00 in winter and 27 W/m 2 at 13:00 in summer. The duration of sea breeze was ∼10 h in summer and only 3 h in winter, extended to inland area ∼ 50 km and upward 920 m vertically. PM 2.5 at coastal area was about 5 μg/m 3 higher than inland during summer afternoon. Over the sea, PM 2.5 mainly concentrated below 200 m in winter, increased with height at night and decreased with height in the morning below 300 m in summer. A typical land-sea breeze episode was analyzed with observed and simulated result. According to the observed data, the sea breeze extended to inland ∼50 km and upward 300 m vertically. From the simulating result, there was a clear temperature gradient between sea and land from surface to 400 m, when influenced by the sea breeze, the wind and temperature profiles showed different characteristics, and forming a high concentration center of PM 2.5 at 300 m. Background: To assess the outcomes and risk factors for adult patients with acute fulminant myocarditis (AFM) supported with venoarterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VA ECMO) in China mainland., Methods: Data were extracted from Chinese Society of ExtraCorporeal Life Support (CSECLS) Registry database. Data from adult patients who were diagnosed with AFM and needed VA ECMO in the database were retrospectively analyzed. The primary outcome was 90-day mortality after ECMO initiation in patients with AFM supported with VA ECMO. Cox proportional hazard regression model was used to examine the risk factors associated with 90-day mortality., Results: Among 221 patients enrolled and followed up to 90 days, 186 (84.2%) patients weaned from ECMO and 159 (71.9%) patients survived and discharged home. The median age was 38 years (IQR 29-49) and males (n = 115) represented 52.0% of the total accounted patients. The median ECMO duration was 134 h (IQR 96-177 h). The main adverse event during ECMO course was bleeding (16.3%), followed by infection (15.4%). In the multivariate Cox model analysis, cardiac arrest prior to ECMO initiation (adjusted HR 2.529; 95%CI: 1.341-4.767, p = 0.004), lower pH value (adjusted HR 0.016; 95%CI: 0.010-0.059, p < 0.001) and higher lactate concentration at 24 h after ECMO initiation (adjusted HR 1.146; 95%CI: 1.075-1.221, p < 0.001) were associated with 90-day mortality., Conclusions: 71.9% patients with AFM (clinical diagnosed) supported with VA ECMO survived. The feasibility of anaerobic membrane bioreactor (AnMBR) for the treatment of N, N-dimethylformamide (DMF)-containing wastewater was theoretically compared with the conventional activated sludge (CAS) process in this study. The electricity consumption and expenditure, bio-energy production and CO 2 emission were investigated using the operational results of a lab-scale AnMBR operated in a long-term operation. The AnMBR was capable of producing bio-methane from wastewater and generated 3.45 kWh/m 3 of electricity as recovered bio-energy while the CAS just generated 1.17 kWh/m 3 of electricity from the post-treatment of excessive sludge disposal. The large quantity of bio-methane recovered by the AnMBR can also be sold as sustainable bioresource for the use of household natural gas with a theoretical profit gain of 29,821 US$/year, while that of the CAS was unprofitable. The AnMBR was also demonstrated to significantly reduce the carbon emission by obtaining a theoretical negative CO 2 production of -2.34 kg CO 2 /m 3 with the recycle of bio-energy while that for the CAS was 4.50 kg CO 2 /m 3 . Sulfated polysaccharides (SP) are widely used as industrial additives and pharmaceutical intermediates. As SP can only be extracted from sea algae, making them scarce raw materials. Recently, SP have been detected and extracted from the waste activated sludge of a saline secondary wastewater treatment plant, suggesting that there are alternative primary producers and synthesis pathways of the SP within the biological activated sludge. This study aimed to identify the primary SP producers, the SP biosynthesis pathways as well as the SP production rates in different types of activated sludges cultivated anoxically and/or anaerobically, with and without the presence of sufficient sulfate. The results showed that alternating anaerobic/anoxic conditions in sludge effectively produced the SP by the ordinary heterotrophic organisms (OHOs). The synthesis pathways for the three most common bioactive SP viz. fucoidan, carrageen, and heparin, were identified and elucidated at both the substrate and enzymatic levels. The Western Blot analyses revealed key enzymes for the SP synthesis (e.g., GDP-L-fucose-synthetase, GDP-fucose-pyrophosphorylase, β-1,4-galactosyltransferase), when sulfate was sufficient (>170 mg S/L) under an alternating anaerobic/anoxic conditions. In contrast, the absence of sulfate suppressed the SP production during the initial step of the SP generation. The synthesis of the SP in the sulfate-reducing (anaerobic) sludge was suppressed by the enzymatic inhibition, when sulfide exceeded 160 mg S/L, due to the competition for energy between the SP synthesis and sulfide detoxification. However, in the case of the sulfide-oxidizing sludge both the organic carbon and metabolism energy deficiencies inhibited the SP production. Considering the large volumes of treated water and incomplete elimination of pollutants, wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) remain a considerable source of microplastics (MPs). Chlorine, the most frequently used disinfectant in WWTPs, has a strong oxidizing impact on MPs. However, little is documented, to date, about the impact of chlorination on the transformation of MPs and the subsequent environmental behaviors of the chlorinated MPs when released into the aquatic environment. This study explored the response of the physicochemical properties of specific thermoplastics, namely polyurethane (TPU) MPs and polystyrene (PS) MPs, to chlorination and their emerging pollutant [tetracycline (TC)] adsorption behavior in aqueous solution. The results indicated that the O/C ratio of the MP surface did not significantly change, and that there were increases in the O-containing functional groups of the TPU and PS MPs, after chlorination. The surface area of the chlorinated TPU MPs increased by 45 %, and that of the chlorinated PS increased by 21 %, compared with the pristine ones, which contributed to the TC adsorption. The adsorption isotherm fitting parameters suggested that the chlorinated TPU fitted the multilayer adsorption, and the chlorinated PS was inclined to the monolayer adsorption. The relative abundance of the O-containing functional groups, on the TPU surface, led to the release of CHCl 3 molecules, and the clear surface irregularities and fissures occurred after chlorine treatment. No fissures were found on the surface of the chlorinated PS MPs. Medical Visual Question Answering (VQA) targets at answering questions related to given medical images and it contains tremendous potential in healthcare services. However, researches on medical VQA are still facing challenges, particularly on how to learn a fine-grained multimodal semantic representation from relatively small volume of data resources for answer prediction. Moreover, the long-tailed distribution labels of medical VQA data frequently result in poor performance of models. To this end, we propose a novel bi-level representation learning model with two reasoning modules to learn bi-level representations for the medical VQA task. One is sentence-level reasoning to learn sentence-level semantic representations from multimodal input. The other is token-level reasoning that employs an attention mechanism to generate a multimodal contextual vector by fusing image features and word embeddings. The contextual vector is used to filter irrelevant semantic representations from sentence-level reasoning to generate a fine-grained multimodal representation. Furthermore, a label-distribution-smooth margin loss is proposed to minimize generalization error bound of long-tailed distribution datasets by modifying margin bound of different labels in training set. Denitrifying sulfur conversion-assisted enhanced biological phosphorus removal (DS-EBPR) was recently developed for saline wastewater treatment. However, the main functional bacteria and the interrelationship of functional bacteria of the DS-EBPR have not been defined and identified so far. This study used metagenomics and multivariate statistics to deduce the functional microbial community and distribution of functional genes associated with the critical metabolic pathways of carbon (C), nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P) and sulfur (S), particularly regarding how they would behave under the alternating anaerobic-anoxic conditions inside a long-term DS-EBPR system. An analysis of the metagenomics and metabolic functions identified 11 major microbial species which were classifiable into four groups: sulfate reducing bacteria (SRB, 0.8-2.2%), sulfur oxidizing bacteria (SOB, 31.9-37.7%), denitrifying phosphate accumulating organisms (DPAOs, 10.0-15.8%) and glycogen accumulating organisms (GAOs, 3.7-7.7%). The four groups of microorganisms performed their respective metabolisms synergistically. In terms of distribution of functional genes, SRB (Desulfococcus and Desulfobacter) and SOB (Chromatiaceae and Thiobacillus) are not only encoded by the related sulfur conversion genes (sqr, dsrAB, aprAB and sat), but also encoded by the necessary ppx and ppk1 gene for P removal that they can be considered as the potential S-related PAOs. Between the anaerobic and anoxic conditions, the metagenome-based microbial community remained structurally similar, but the functional genes, which encode various key enzymes for the P, N, and S pathways, changed in abundance. The use of non-decontaminated recycled poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) in food packages arouses consumer safety concerns, and thus is a major obstacle hindering PET bottle-to-bottle recycling in many developing regions. Herein, machine learning (ML) algorithms were employed for the discrimination of 127 batches of virgin PET and recycled PET (rPET) samples based on 1247 volatile organic compounds (VOCs) tentatively identified by headspace solid-phase microextraction comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography quadrupole-time-of-flight mass spectrometry. 100% prediction accuracy was achieved for PET discrimination using random forest (RF) and support vector machine (SVM) algorithms. The features of VOCs bearing high variable contributions to the RF prediction performance characterized by mean decrease Gini and variable importance were summarized as high occurrence rate, dominant appearance and distinct instrument response. Further, RF and SVM were employed for PET discrimination using the simplified input datasets composed of 62 VOCs with the highest contributions to the RF prediction performance derived by the AUCRF algorithm, by which over 99% prediction accuracy was achieved. Knowing which proteins interact with each other is essential information for understanding how most biological processes at the cellular and organismal level operate and how their perturbation can cause disease. Continuous technical and methodological advances over the last two decades have led to many genome-wide systematically-generated protein-protein interaction (PPI) maps. To help store, visualize, analyze and disseminate these specialized experimental datasets via the web, we developed the freely-available Open-source Protein Interaction Platform (openPIP) as a customizable web portal designed to host experimental PPI maps. Such a portal is often required to accompany a paper describing the experimental data set, in addition to depositing the data in a standard repository. No coding skills are required to set up and customize the database and web portal. OpenPIP has been used to build the databases and web portals of two major protein interactome maps, the Human and Yeast Reference Protein Interactome maps (HuRI and YeRI, respectively). Hydraulic fracturing wastewater (HFW), a byproduct of hydraulic fracturing oil extraction, contains a complex mixture of oil, aldehydes, and benzene compounds. Efficient and eco-friendly HFW treatment means are critical for the oil extraction industry, particularly in developing countries. In this study, two biological processes namely an anaerobic/anoxic/moving bed biofilm reactor (A 2 -MBBR) and an A 2 -MBBR with a microfiltration membrane (A 2 -MFMBBR) were established, and assessed for the real HFW treatment. Removal efficiencies of chemical oxygen demand (COD) and NH 4 + -N were over 92% and 95%, respectively, in both processes with a hydraulic retention time of 72 h. The majority of organic compounds in both systems identified by GC-MS were degraded in the anaerobic units. In comparison, A 2 -MFMBBR demonstrated higher removal efficiencies for oil, total suspended solids, and complex compounds. The average relative abundances of refractory compound degrading bacteria were 43.4% and 51.6% in the A 2 -MBBR and A 2 -MFMBBR, respectively, which was consistent with the COD and oil removal, and suggested that the MBR could maintain a high diversity of microorganisms and contribute to deep recalcitrant organics degradation. The aerobic granular sludge (AGS) effectively mitigates the membrane fouling of a membrane bioreactor. However, the role and effects of the concentration polarization (CP), induced during the AGS filtration process on the membrane fouling and membrane cleaning efficiency, remain unclear. In the present study, the AGS resulted in a higher CP proportion (>50%) and a lower CP resistance (<3 × 10 12  m -1 ), compared with the flocculent sludge, owing to the synergistic effect of the hydraulic shear and AGS scouring development, which improved the AGS in suspension and also minimized its deposition on the membrane. High-frequency interactions (contact and collision) between the AGS and membrane enhanced the CP resistance by returning more granular sludge from the cake layer to the CP, which proportionally increased the fouling resistance. Based on the correlation of CP and fouling resistance, the CP resistance was divided into 3 categories: high-intensity (2.76 × 10 12  m -1 ), medium-intensity (1.74 × 10 12  m -1 ), and low-intensity (0.62 × 10 12  m -1 ). At the high-intensity CP, most membrane pores were "sealed" (complete pore blocking [R 2  > 0.9015]) and the pore blocking condition was the most serious (K-value = 0.0622 s -1 ), while the membrane surface became denser and rougher. As a result, the permeability loss after the long-term filtration increased. In the chemical cleaning investigation, the alkaline detergents yielded an enhanced membrane cleaning efficiency to recover permeability. By reducing the CP, the membrane cleaning efficiency was marginally improved. Interferon gamma (IFN-γ) is a widely expressed cytokine that has potent antiviral and immunomodulatory effects. The expression and bioactivity of IFN-γ have been reported in several fish species. However, the molecular mechanism mediated by IFN-γ in fish macrophages has not been completely elucidated. This study used the macrophage cell line to investigate the functional activities and regulation mechanism of large yellow croaker IFN-γ (LcIFN-γ). Herein, the mRNA expression of Lcifn-γ was significantly upregulated in macrophages after LPS and poly(I:C) treatment. Recombinant LcIFN-γ protein (rLcIFN-γ) significantly enhanced the phagocytic ability and respiratory burst activity of macrophages. Meanwhile, rLcIFN-γ induced M1 phenotype polarization of macrophages with the upregulated expressions of pro-inflammatory gene. Moreover, rLcIFN-γ upregulated the IFN-stimulated genes (ISGs) expression and activated JAK (Janus tyrosine kinases)-STAT (signal transducer and activator of transcription) signaling pathway by causing the phosphorylation of JAK1 and STAT1 Tyr701 . Furthermore, the promoter activity of IFN-regulatory factor 1 (IRF1) was significantly upregulated by the phosphorylated transcription factor STAT1 through binding to its promoter region. In addition to the classical JAK-STAT pathway, rLcIFN-γ also activated multiple distinct signaling cascades such as mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) and protein kinase B (AKT) pathways. In the current study, MFCs treating saline wastewater with the different conductivities of 5.0 ± 0.2, 7.7 ± 0.6, 10.5 ± 0.9, 13.0 ± 1.0, 15.3 ± 1.0, and 16.0 ± 0.1 mS/cm were investigated. Increasing salinity drives a considerable shift of microbial communities, and it also affects metabolic pathways in MFCs. Overwhelming acetate oxidizing electron transfer with moderate conductivities between 7.7 and 13.0 mS/cm led to high energy outputs. Power generation at the low conductivities of less than 7.7 mS/cm was restricted by the competition between fermentative bacteria (e.g., Lactobacillus) and exoelectrogens (e.g., Pseudomonas and Shewanella) for substrate utilization. Increasing salinity beyond 13 mS/cm suppressed the fermentation of glucose to butyrate. It also induced sulfidogenesis; sulfide oxidizing bacteria Desulfovibrio (5.2%), Desulfuromonas (3.7%) and exoelectrogen Pseudomonas (1.1%) formed a sulfur-driven current production, thereby resulting in low energy outputs. Constructed wetlands (CWs) have been regarded as efficient technologies for both wastewater treatment and reuse of water resources. Most studies on CW treatment efficiency are limited to a short-term perspective, and there are still many unknowns about the long-term performance of CWs. Here we evaluated the performance of an integrated CW that has been in operation for more than ten years. The average removal rates of TN and TP were maintained at 53.6% and 67.3% over 10 years, respectively. The annual mass reductions in TN and TP reached 937.5 kg ha -1  yr -1 and 303.2 kg ha -1  yr -1 , respectively. In addition, TN removal rate was significantly higher in summer and autumn than those in spring, yet there was no seasonal difference in TP removal. The bacterial richness and diversity in summer and autumn were higher than those in spring. TN and TOC not only determine the bacterial community structure, but also affect the removal efficiency of CW. Denitrification and dephosphorization microorganisms were enriched and accounted for a considerable proportion (21.14-52.85%) in the bacterial community. mRNA markers provide a very promising method for the identification of human body fluids or tissues in the context of forensic investigations. Previous studies have shown that different body fluids can be distinguished from each other according to their specific mRNA biomarkers. In this study, we evaluated eight semen-specific mRNA markers (KLK3, NKX3-1, CKB, KLK2, PRAC1, SEMG1, TGM4, and SORD) that encompass 12 coding single nucleotide polymorphisms (cSNPs) to identify the semen contributor in a mixed stain. Five highly specific and sensitive mRNA markers for blood, menstrual blood, saliva, vaginal secretions, and skin were also incorporated into the PCR system as body fluid-positive controls. Reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), multiplex PCR and SNaPshot mini-sequencing assays were established for the identification of semen-specific mRNA. The amplicon size ranged from 133 to 337 bp. The semen-specific system was examined against blood, menstrual blood, saliva, vaginal secretions, and skin swabs. The eight mRNA biomarkers were semen-specific and could be successfully typed in laboratory-generated mixtures composed of different body fluids supplemented with 1 ng of semen cDNA. This system possessed a high sensitivity that ranged from 1:10-1:100 for detecting trace amounts of semen in semen-containing body fluid mixtures. Additionally, our results demonstrated that the cSNPs polymorphisms included in the mRNA markers were concordant with genomic DNA (gDNA). Despite the presence of other body fluids, the system exhibited high sensitivity and specificity to the semen in the mixture. This paper proposed a method for exact selecting the optimal filter length of minimal entropy deconvolution (MED) to solve it recovering a single random pulse when the filter length is not improper. The energy ratio of autocorrelation between the filtered signal and the residual signal is adopted to measure the salience of periodic impulses. Then this index is used as an objective function of genetic algorithms (GA) to form an adaptive optimal selection method of filter length. The proposed method is verified by two different rolling bearing fault experiments. The results show that the proposed method reveals the periodic impulses successfully from the casing signals. Challenges such as long-term cultivation and sludge floatation are common in flocculent sulfide-oxidizing autotrophic denitrification (SOAD) systems. The present study aims to optimize the granulation of SOAD sludge by mainly adjusting the reactor configuration and mixing mode. Three liquid-lift upflow reactors viz. a reactor equipped with a three-phase separator (Reactor A), a modified version of Reactor A equipped with a hydraulic regulator (Reactor B), and a reactor with a mounted baffle and intermittent mechanical mixing (Reactor C). These reactors were operated for more than 160 days. The results showed that dense and compact granules with 200 μm of diameter developed within 40 days and gradually increased to approximately 400 μm in Reactor C, which had a volatile suspended solids (VSS) concentration of 7500 mg VSS/L of sludge concentration; this Reactor C was also subject to modified reactor configuration and operating conditions. In comparison, filamentous granules formed in Reactor A due to a low substrate loading and granules formed in Reactor B but with significant biomass loss caused by sludge flotation. Both of the reactors only have ≤1000 mg VSS/L VS 7500 mg VSS/L in Reactor C. Also, Reactor C having 0.77 h of hydraulic retention time (HRT) and 0.94 kgNO 3 - -N/m 3 d & 1.87 kgS 2- -S/m 3 d of nitrogen and sulfide loading rate, respectively, showed a better performance in terms of nitrate removal (89%) and sulfur conversion (above 70%) due to its enrichment by the typical autotrophic denitrifiers (39.0% of Thiobacillus, 22.4% of Sulfurimonas) in the granules. Brucellosis is a highly infectious zoonotic disease caused by Brucella. It is necessary to control and eliminate brucellosis. The cell wall O-polysaccharides of pathogenic Brucella species are homopolymers of the rare sugar 4,6-dideoxy-4-formamido-α-d-mannopyranose. Herein, one neoglycoconjugate was successfully synthesized based on disaccharide [Rha4NFo(1 → 2)Rha4NFo] as epitope. Disaccharide specific antibodies were detected by ELISA and the immune protective effect was further evaluated with PBS as control. The result showed that the synthetic neoglycoconjugate can produce moderate immune responses in mice and significantly decreased splenic Brucella M5 burden comparing with control group. The chemically defined antigen identified the A antigenic determinant and provided a structural basis for understanding the fine specificity of polyclonal antibodies that bind the A antigen. Extending sulfate reducing sludge granulation to real sulfate-laden wastewater was trialed in this study. Two types of reactors, namely sulfate reducing upflow sludge blanket (SRUSB) reactor and continuous stirred tank reactor (CSTR), were used for granulation. Sulfate-reducing granules were observed after 5 months' operation of stepwise hydraulic retention time (HRT) shortening, recirculation cycle adjustment, and air scouring in the SRUSB reactor. Comparatively, granular sludge was achieved in the CSTR after 6 months of cultivation with an average size of 220 μm. With the process of granulation, the HRTs of the two types of reactors were reduced to 2.2 and 2.8 h, respectively for the SRUSB and CSTR reactors. The abundance of sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB) related genera reached 29.3 and 45% in the SRUSB and CSTR reactors, respectively. Incomplete organic oxidizing SRB were dominant in the CSTR and SRUSB is predominated by complete organic oxidizing SRB, which facilitated a higher organic loading rate. Considering the operating merits, the CSTR is preferable as a pretreatment unit (e.g., for acidification), while the SRUSB reactor can be used for maximum organics removal or sulfide production. Although emerging evidence has highlighted the heterogeneities of astrocytes under physiological versus pathological conditions, little is known regarding these processes in different brain regions during stress. Thus, the present study established a mouse model of chronic social defeat stress (CSDS) and isolated astrocytes from the medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC) and hippocampus. The results revealed dramatic A1-specific (neurotoxic phenotype) astrocytic responses, depressive-like behaviors, and significant inhibition of neuronal activities in both the mPFC and hippocampus according to electrophysiological data. Subsequently, astrocytes in the mPFC and hippocampus of CSDS mice were suppressed and this reversed the astrocytic responses and rescued depressive-like behaviors. Furthermore, when astrocytes were activated in the mPFC and hippocampus in healthy mice, there was a non-specific phenotypic activation of astrocytes in the absence of depressive-like behaviors. Next, microglia were depleted and the mice subsequently performed in the CSDS model; this reduced astrocyte responses and restored depressive-like behaviors. On the other hand, when microglia were depleted but astrocytes were activated in CSDS mice, this abolished the restoration of microglia depletion-induced depressive-like behaviors. Taken together, these results indicate that neuronal inhibition by astrocytes in the mPFC and hippocampus contributed to depressive-like behaviors mediated by activated microglia. Herein, a one-step electrochemical sensor for selective and sensitive detection of lead ion Pb 2+ was developed based on an integrated probe meso-tetra(4-carboxyphenyl) porphine (TCPP)-multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs)@Fe 3 O 4 , which is TCPP-modified magnetic multi-walled carbon nanotubes. In the integrated probe, TCPP is a porphyrin with a specific cavity structure which could selectively chelate with Pb 2+ , MWCNTs with good electric conductivity provide a place to load TCPP and form a specific adsorption state of Pb 2+ on the electrode surface, and Fe 3 O 4 enables the rapid separation and one-step fabrication of the electrochemical sensor. Based on it, the sample pre-enrichment, separation and determination can be integrated, making the whole process very fast and simple. In addition, fast scan voltammetry (FSV) with a scan rate up to 200 V/s could be used to improve the detection sensitivity greatly, benefitting from the specific adsorption state formed. Under the optimal conditions obtained through orthogonal experiments including adsorption time, integrated probe dosage and solution pH, there was a good linear relationship between the peak current and Pb 2+ concentration ranging from 2.0 × 10 -4  μg L -1 to 2.0 × 10 -3  μg L -1 , with the limit of detection (LOD) being 6.7 × 10 -5  μg L -1  (S/N = 3) i.e. 0.067 ppt. Analysis of actual water samples was successful. Benzo[a]pyrene (BaP) stimulates male reproductive toxicity. In this study, we want to examine the ameliorative potential of Lycopene (LYC) on BaP-induced testicular toxicity. Adult male Wistar rats were segregated into 5 groups: Control, LYC, BaP, BaP + LYC and BaP + PQ7. Sperm parameters, testosterone level, oxidant and antioxidant parameters were determined. MRNA and protein abundances of key genes were analyzed. Cell death and apoptosis were assessed by trypan blue exclusion and Annexin V-FITC staining assay, respectively. LYC inhibited BaP-caused decrease in sperm motility and epididymal sperm concentration, and increase in head, tail and total abnormal sperm rate. LYC inhibited BaP-caused decrease in testosterone level in serum and intratesticular fluids. LYC protected germ cells from BaP-caused oxidative stress. LYC also prevented BaP-caused germ cell death and apoptosis by inhibiting apoptotic pathway. Besides, LYC ameliorated BaP-mediated gap-junction dysfunction of sertoli cells, as shown by the inhibited sertoli cell death and apoptosis, the upregulation of Bcl2 and Cx43, the downregulation of Cleaved Caspase 3, Bax and CaM, and the decrease in Ca 2+ level. LYC ameliorated BaP-caused testicular damage via inhibiting oxidative stress and apoptosis, and relieving the gap-junction dysfunction of sertoli cells., (Copyright © 2019 Elsevier B.V.
