Oxylipins derived from polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) are important endogenous signaling molecules, but are little characterized in pulmonary hypertension (PH) due to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). In this study, we identified novel plasma oxylipins associated with PH risk in COPD patients. The plasma oxylipin profiles of COPD patients without PH (COPD-noPH) or with PH (COPD-PH) were obtained from discovery and validation cohort, using the process of LC-MS/MS analysis. There was a significant decrease in the plasma levels of both free docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and DHA-derived oxylipins in the COPD-PH group. The multivariable logistic regression model identified DHA and four DHA-derived oxylipins (13-HDHA, 10-HDHA, 8-HDHA and 16-HDHA) exhibited significant differences between the two groups after adjusting for sex, BMI, FEV1% predicted, and smoking status. The diagnostic value of these metabolites was further evaluated through ROC curve analysis. The transcriptome profiles in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) of COPD-PH patients and COPD-PH patients were detected through high-throughput sequencing. The enrichment analysis revealed that the upregulated differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were highly enriched in the interferon signaling pathway. In addition, DHA supplementation proved that DHA may inhibit the development of pH by reducing the secretion of interferons derived from PBMCs. This conjecture was further confirmed by the higher level of serum interferon-γ and interferon-α2 of COPD-PH patients than that of COPD-noPH patients. Nanoplastics (<1 μm) can serve as a transport vector of environmental pollutants (e.g., heavy metals) and change their toxicities and bioavailabilities. Up to date the behaviors of adsorption and desorption heavy metals on/off nanoplastics are largely unknown. Herein, polymeric membrane potentiometric ion sensors are proposed for in-situ assessment of the real-time kinetics of heavy metal adsorption and desorption on/off nanoplastics. Results show that nanoplastics can adsorb and release heavy metals in a fast manner, indicating their superior ability in transferring heavy metals. The adsorption behaviors are closely related to the characteristics of nanoplastics and background electrolytes. Particle aggregation and increases in salinity and acidity suppress the adsorption of heavy metals on nanoplastics. The desorption efficiencies of different heavy metals are Pb 2+ (31 %) < Cu 2+ (40 %) < Cd 2+ (97 %). Our proposed method is applicable for the detection of the plastic pollutants with size <100 nm and of the samples with high salinities (e.g., seawater). The widespread presence of microplastics and nanoplastics (MPs/NPs) in the environment has become a critical public health issue due to their potential to infiltrate and affect various biological systems. Our review is crucial as it consolidates current data and provides a comprehensive analysis of the cardiovascular impacts of MPs/NPs across species, highlighting significant implications for human health. By synthesizing findings from studies on aquatic and terrestrial organisms, including humans, this review offers insights into the ubiquity of MPs/NPs and their pathophysiological roles in cardiovascular systems. We demonstrated that exposure to MPs/NPs is linked to various cardiovascular ailments such as thrombogenesis, vascular damage, and cardiac impairments in model organisms, which likely extrapolate to humans. Our review critically evaluated methods for detecting MPs/NPs in biological tissues, assessing their toxicity, and understanding their behaviour within the vasculature. These findings emphasise the urgent need for targeted public health strategies and enhanced regulatory measures to mitigate the impacts of MP/NP pollution. Furthermore, the review underlined the necessity of advancing research methodologies to explore long-term effects and potential intergenerational consequences of MP/NP exposure. High-grade heavy metal elements in copper slag (CS) are worth recovering. Unfortunately, the high viscosity of leaching solution, low leaching efficiency, difficult filtration and low separation efficiency of valuable components exist in the traditional sulfuric acid leaching process. In this study, the above problems are solved by sulfuric acid pretreatment + curing + water leaching. Moreover, iron, cobalt and copper ions in solution are separated by stepwise precipitation. The final iron, cobalt, copper and silicon recoveries are 99.01 %, 98.45 %, 93.13 % and 99.52 %, respectively. Thermodynamic calculations show that H 4 SiO 4 can be converted to insoluble SiO 2 to improve filtration properties under curing conditions of sulfur dioxide partial pressures of 10 -20 ∼0 atm, oxygen partial pressures of 10 -20 ∼0 atm and 400-600k. Simulation studies of the phase equilibria of the components of the leach solution by Visual MINTEQ showed that the oxidation of Fe 2+ to Fe 3+ is necessary for the removal of Fe 2+ from the solution by precipitation. In this study, a one-step extrusion method is proposed to prepare blended polylactic acid (PLA)/thermoplastic starch (TPS) using a novel plant-derived compatibilizer, pyrogallic acid (PGA), to enhance the PLA/TPS compatibility. The effects of PGA on the mechanical behavior, fractured cross-section morphology, thermal and dynamic mechanical performance, and water resistance of PLA/TPS blends were systematically studied. Results demonstrate that the addition of PGA effectively improves the compatibility between TPS and PLA, resulting in enhanced tensile strength, crystallinity, elongation at break, thermal stability, and hydrophobicity of the blends. Specifically, incorporating 1.5 phr of PGA into the blend system yields the highest values for tensile strength (23.38 MPa) and elongation at break (16.96 %), which are 24.7 % and 233.2 %, respectively, higher than those observed for pure PLA/TPS blends. Furthermore, other properties exhibit obvious improvements upon incorporation of PGA into the blends. Okra is susceptible to browning during storage. The effects of konjac glucomannan/microcapsule of thymol edible coating (TKL) on antioxidant activity and reactive oxygen (ROS) synthesis of okra during low-temperature storage were investigated. Thymol edible coating of thymol concentration 40 mg/mL (TKL40) had a regulatory effect on okra browning. After 14 days of storage, compared with the control group, the weight loss rate of TKL was reduced by 5.26 %, the hardness was increased by 24.14 %, and the L ⁎ value was increased by 31 %. Moreover, TKL40 increased the scavenging capacity of okra for DPPH and ABTS free radicals, and activated catalase and superoxide dismutase activities by promoting the accumulation of total phenolics and flavonoids. TKL40 also reduced the cell membrane damage of okra during low-temperature storage by reducing the increase of malondialdehyde and H 2 O 2 during okra storage. Meanwhile, it delayed the increase of relative conductivity and the production of O 2 .- , inhibited the activity of polyphenol oxidase in the late stage, so reduced the combination of polyphenol oxidase and phenolics to reduce the browning. This paper summarizes the colonization dynamics of biofilms on microplastics (MPs) surfaces in aquatic environments, encompassing bacterial characteristics, environmental factors affecting biofilm formation, and matrix types and characteristics. The interaction between biofilm and MPs was also discussed. Through summarizing recent literatures, it was found that MPs surfaces offer numerous benefits to microorganisms, including nutrient enrichment and enhanced resistance to environmental stress. Biofilm colonization changes the surface physical and chemical properties as well as the transport behavior of MPs. At the same time, biofilms also play an important role in the fragmentation and degradation of MPs. In addition, we also investigated the coexistence level, adsorption mechanism, enrichment, and transformation of MPs by environmental pollutants mediated by biofilms. Moreover, an interesting aspect about the colonization of biofilms was discussed. Biofilm colonization not only had a great effect on the accumulation of heavy metals by MPs, but also affects the interaction between particles and environmental pollutants, thereby changing their toxic effects and increasing the difficulty of MPs treatment. Objectives: Cerebral arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) present complex neurovascular challenges, characterized by direct arteriovenous connections that disrupt normal brain blood flow dynamics. Traditional lumped parameter models (LPMs) offer a simplified angioarchitectural representation of AVMs, yet often fail to capture the intricate structure within the AVM nidus. This research aims at refining our understanding of AVM hemodynamics through the development of patient-specific LPMs utilizing three-dimensional (3D) medical imaging data for enhanced structural fidelity., Methods: This study commenced with the meticulous delineation of AVM vascular architecture using threshold segmentation and skeletonization techniques. The AVM nidus's core structure was outlined, facilitating the extraction of vessel connections and the formation of a detailed fistulous vascular tree model. Sampling points, spatially distributed and derived from the pixel intensity in imaging data, guided the construction of a complex plexiform tree within the nidus by generating smaller Y-shaped vascular formations. This model was then integrated with an electrical analog model to enable precise numerical simulations of cerebral hemodynamics with AVMs., Results: The study successfully generated two distinct patient-specific AVM networks, mirroring the unique structural and morphological characteristics of the AVMs as captured in medical imaging. The models effectively represented the intricate fistulous and plexiform vessel structures within the nidus. Background: Structural covariance network disruption has been considered an important pathophysiological indicator for schizophrenia. Here, we introduced a novel individualized structural covariance network measure, referred to as a texture similarity network (TSN), and hypothesized that the TSN could reliably reveal unique intersubject heterogeneity and complex dysconnectivity patterns in schizophrenia., Methods: The TSN was constructed by measuring the covariance of 180 three-dimensional voxelwise gray-level co-occurrence matrix feature maps between brain areas in each participant. We first tested the validity and reproducibility of the TSN in characterizing the intersubject variability in 2 longitudinal test-retest healthy cohorts. The TSN was further applied to elucidate intersubject variability and dysconnectivity patterns in 10 schizophrenia case-control datasets (609 schizophrenia cases vs. 579 controls) as well as in a first-episode depression dataset (69 patients with depression vs. 69 control participants)., Results: The test-retest analysis demonstrated higher TSN intersubject than intrasubject variability. Moreover, the TSN reliably revealed higher intersubject variability in both chronic and first-episode schizophrenia, but not in depression. The TSN also reproducibly detected coexistent increased and decreased TSN strength in widespread brain areas, increased global small-worldness, and the coexistence of both structural hyposynchronization in the central networks and hypersynchronization in peripheral networks in patients with schizophrenia but not in patients with depression. To date, no therapy has been proven to be efficacious in fully restoring neurological functions after spinal cord injury (SCI). Systemic high-dose methylprednisolone (MP) improves neurological recovery after acute SCI in both animal and human. MP therapy remains controversial due to its modest effect on functional recovery and significant adverse effects. To overcome the limitation of MP therapy, we have developed a N-(2-hydroxypropyl) methacrylamide copolymer-based MP prodrug nanomedicine (Nano-MP) that can selectively deliver MP to the SCI lesion when administered systemically in a rat model of acute SCI. Our in vivo data reveal that Nano-MP is significantly more effective than free MP in attenuating secondary injuries and neuronal apoptosis. Nano-MP is superior to free MP in improving functional recovery after acute SCI in rats. In order to reduce the quality loss of citrus and extend its storage time after harvest, it is essential to develop coated kraft papers with antibacterial and fresh-keeping properties. In this study, cinnamon essential oil (CEO)/soybean protein isolate (SPI) microcapsules were prepared by the coagulation method, and their properties were optimized. Then, the microcapsules were added to konjac glucomannan (KGM) as a coating solution to enhance the physical, and chemical properties of kraft paper by a coating method. The release behavior of CEO, tensile properties, antibacterial properties and preservation effects of the paper were investigated. The results show that when the ratio of wall to core was 7:3, the highest encapsulation rate was 92.20 ± 0.43 %. The coating treatment significantly reduced the oxygen and water vapor transmission rates of kraft paper. The shelf life of citrus treated with coated Kraft was extended by >10 days. (S)-equol, the most influential metabolite of daidzein in vivo, has aroused great attention due to the excellent biological activities. Although existing studies have accomplished the construction of its heterologous synthetic pathway in the context of anaerobicity and inefficiency of natural strains, the low productivity of (S)-equol limits its industrial application. Here, rational design strategies based on decreasing the pocket steric hindrance and fine-tuning the pocket microenvironment to systematically redesign the binding pocket of enzyme were developed and processed to the rate-limiting enzyme dihydrodaidzein reductase in (S)-equol synthesis. After iterative combinatorial mutagenesis, an effective mutant S118G/T169A capable of significantly increasing (S)-equol yield was obtained. Computational analyses illustrated that the main reason of the increased activity relied on the decreased critical distance and more stable interacting conformation. Then, the reaction optimization was performed, and the recombinant Escherichia coli whole-cell biocatalyst harboring S118G/T169A enabled the efficient conversion of 2 mM daidzein to (S)-equol, achieving conversion rate of 84.5 %, which was 2.9 times higher than that of the parental strain expressing wide type dihydrodaidzein reductase. Recent unsupervised domain adaptation (UDA) methods in medical image segmentation commonly utilize Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) for domain translation. However, the translated images often exhibit a distribution deviation from the ideal due to the inherent instability of GANs, leading to challenges such as visual inconsistency and incorrect style, consequently causing the segmentation model to fall into the fixed wrong pattern. To address this problem, we propose a novel UDA framework known as Dual Domain Distribution Disruption with Semantics Preservation (DDSP). Departing from the idea of generating images conforming to the target domain distribution in GAN-based UDA methods, we make the model domain-agnostic and focus on anatomical structural information by leveraging semantic information as constraints to guide the model to adapt to images with disrupted distributions in both source and target domains. Furthermore, we introduce the inter-channel similarity feature alignment based on the domain-invariant structural prior information, which facilitates the shared pixel-wise classifier to achieve robust performance on target domain features by aligning the source and target domain features across channels. Without any exaggeration, our method significantly outperforms existing state-of-the-art UDA methods on three public datasets (i.e., the heart dataset, the brain dataset, and the prostate dataset). To address the adverse side effects associated with systemic high-dose methylprednisolone (MP) therapy for acute spinal cord injury (SCI), we have developed a N-2-hydroxypropyl methacrylamide copolymer-based MP prodrug nanomedicine (Nano-MP). Intravenous Nano-MP selectively targeted to the inflamed SCI lesion and significantly improved neuroprotection and functional recovery after acute SCI. In the present study, we comprehensively assessed the potential adverse side effects associated with the treatment in the SCI rat models, including reduced body weight and food intake, impaired glucose metabolism, and reduced musculoskeletal mass and integrity. In contrast to free MP treatment, intravenous Nano-MP after acute SCI not only offered superior neuroprotection and functional recovery but also significantly mitigated or even eliminated the aforementioned adverse side effects. Background: Organochlorine pesticides, with their environmental persistence and bioaccumulation potential, have gained significant attention. This study explores the impact of organochlorine pesticides on mortality and chronic diseases, investigates their link to inflammatory states, and examines the role of anti-inflammatory diets in mitigating adverse reactions to these pesticides., Methods: This study, with 2,847 participants, used gas chromatography and mass spectrometry to measure organochlorine pesticide exposure in NHANES data. Conventional statistical methodologies, encompassing survival curves, Cox proportional hazards regression, regression analysis, and restricted quadratic spline analysis, were employed to investigate the association between pesticides and mortality, chronic ailments, and inflammation. Furthermore, machine learning techniques, comprising RF, AdaBoost, Extra-Trees, LightGBM, and BPNN, were leveraged to evaluate the impact of pesticides on chronic disease and mortality prognostication., Results: Organochlorine pesticides were significantly and positively correlated with increased mortality (p<0.05). Additionally, these pollutants were linked to the incidence of chronic diseases such as chronic kidney disease, diabetes, and hypertension (p< 0.05). Our study, utilizing various machine learning models, also showed a notable increase in the Area Under the Curve when incorporating organochlorine pesticide indicators into the model as opposed to excluding them. Furthermore, strong correlations were observed between serum c-reactive protein (CRP) and CRP to serum albumin ratio (CAR) concentrations with these substances, demonstrating their pro-inflammatory effects at specific concentrations. Interestingly, cutting down on dietary inflammation through changes in diet effectively reduced the risk of death at high organochlorine pesticide exposure levels, but the effect was less noticeable at low to moderate exposure levels., Conclusions: Exposure to organochlorine pesticides was linked to a higher risk of mortality, likely due to an increased prevalence of chronic diseases. High-spatiotemporal-resolution rainfall data are vital for investigating local terrestrial water cycles. Although remote-sensing satellite retrieval of precipitation products effectively reproduces spatial patterns of rainfall, it suffers from low spatial resolution. To overcome such limitations, a two-step downscaling approach is proposed here. First, 80 % of the meteorological-station data is utilized to calibrate the original Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM) data, enhancing the correlation between GPM and station data. Subsequently, utilizing elevation, slope, aspect, the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI), wind direction, water vapor, and land surface temperature, as well as slope and aspect correction factors, as independent variables, multiscale geographically weighted regression (MGWR) and temporal lag MGWR (TL-MGWR) models were constructed. Through the aforementioned steps, downscaled monthly and daily precipitation data for the geographic region under investigation in 2022 at a spatial resolution of 0.01° were obtained. Our findings indicate that selectively employing suitable MGWR or TL-MGWR models on a monthly basis can effectively downscale monthly GPM rainfall data. The downscaled (original) monthly precipitation data exhibited a correlation of 0.94 (0.768), with a mean absolute error (MAE) of 16.233 mm/month, root-mean-square error (RMSE) of 27.106 mm/month, and bias of -0.043. Similar enhancement was likewise noted in daily precipitation, displaying a correlation coefficient of 0.863 (0.318) for downscaled (original) data, and a RMSE of 3.209 mm/day, MAE of 1.082 mm/day, and bias of -0.06. The downscaled results show a correlation increase of 0.172 monthly and 0.545 daily, with MAE reductions of 18.43 mm/month and 1.658 mm/day, RMSE reductions of 26.172 mm/month and 4.183 mm/day, and bias reductions of 82.7 % and 56.8 %. In summary, the data after downscaling, both for monthly and daily datasets, was markedly improved in accuracy. Flue gas desulfurization gypsum (FGDG), a solid waste produced during sulfur removal in coal-fired power plants, has applications in saline-alkali soil amelioration due to its function of calcium‑sodium ion exchange. Existing research has focused on the use of gypsum to improve saline-alkali soils in non-coastal areas. However, coastal areas are not only extensively salinized, but an important source of methane, and surprisingly, FGDG may assist to decrease methane formation mainly by the action of sulfate radical. This is the first critical review to systematically discuss the effects of FGDG on both saline-alkali soil improvement and carbon emission control in tidal flats, including application status, amendment principles, environmental risks and methane emission control. After adding FGDG, soil salinization degree was weakened via adjusting soil structure, pH, exchangeable sodium percentage and electric conductivity, introduction of nutrients also promotes crop growth. The optimal FGDG dosage in tidal flats seems to be higher (>2 %) than that in non-coastal areas (<1 %). Its environmental risks regarding heavy metals and eutrophication are evaluated safe. In tidal areas, more methane is produced in hot seasons and ebb tides. Plants and invertebrates also promote methane release. FGDG controls methane production by promoting the activity of sulfate-reducing bacteria and inhibiting methanogens. Cancer is one of the serious threats to public life and health. Early diagnosis, real-time monitoring, and individualized treatment are the keys to improve the survival rate and prolong the survival time of cancer patients. Liquid biopsy is a potential technique for cancer early diagnosis due to its non-invasive and continuous monitoring properties. However, most current liquid biopsy techniques lack the ability to detect cancers at the early stage. Therefore, effective detection of a variety of cancers is expected through the combination of various techniques. Recently, DNA frameworks with tailorable functionality and precise addressability have attracted wide spread attention in biomedical applications, especially in detecting cancer biomarkers such as circulating tumor cells (CTCs), exosomes and circulating tumor nucleic acid (ctNA). Encouragingly, DNA frameworks perform outstanding in detecting these cancer markers, but also face some challenges and opportunities. In this review, we first briefly introduced the development of DNA frameworks and its typical structural characteristics and advantages. Then, we mainly focus on the recent progress of DNA frameworks in detecting commonly used cancer markers in liquid-biopsy. We summarize the advantages and applications of DNA frameworks for detecting CTCs, exosomes and ctNA. Furthermore, we provide an outlook on the possible opportunities and challenges for exploiting the structural advantages of DNA frameworks in the field of cancer diagnosis. Introduction: Prostate cancer (PCa) located in the peripheral zone (PZ) and transitional zone (TZ) showed a different clinical and pathological characteristic. This passage aims to preliminarily evaluate the relationship between the zonal heterogeneity of PCa quantitatively assessed by bpMRI and pathological risk stratification of the primary lesion., Methods: This prospective study was conducted from January 2019 to February 2023. A total of 113 PCa patients whose bpMRI data indicated that the lesions located in only 1 single zone of the prostate were selected. A transrectal ultrasound and MRI-targeted biopsy were performed to verify the bpMRI results, and then radical prostatectomy (RP) was performed in 3 weeks after the biopsy. The high-risk (HR) group was defined as ISUP grades ≥ 3. Binary regression was performed to evaluate if the zonal heterogeneity could be an independent predictor of the HR group. The receiver operator characteristic (ROC) curve was performed to analyze the added value of zonal location in predicting the HR group., Results: PSA, T staging, and ISUP grades, incidence of positive surgical margins were significantly lower in the TZ PCa, and the ADCmin, and ADCmean values in the TZ PCa were significantly higher (all P < .01). Among various remediation methods for organic-contaminated soil, thermal desorption stands out due to its broad treatment range and high efficiency. Nonetheless, analyzing the contribution of factors in complex soil remediation systems and deducing the results under multiple conditions are challenging, given the complexities arising from diverse soil properties, heating conditions, and contaminant types. Machine learning (ML) methods serve as a powerful analytical tool that can extract meaningful insights from datasets and reveal hidden relationships. Due to insufficient research on soil thermal desorption for remediation of organic sites using ML methods, this study took organic pollutants represented by polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) as the research object and sorted out a comprehensive data set containing >700 data points on the thermal desorption of soil contaminated with PAHs from published literature. Several ML models, including artificial neural network (ANN), random forest (RF), and support vector regression (SVR), were applied. Model optimization and regression fitting centered on soil remediation efficiency, with feature importance analysis conducted on soil and contaminant properties and heating conditions. This approach enabled the quantitative evaluation and prediction of thermal desorption remediation effects on soil contaminated with PAHs. Results indicated that ML models, particularly the RF model (R 2  = 0.90), exhibited high accuracy in predicting remediation efficiency. The hierarchical significance of the features within the RF model is elucidated as follows: heating conditions account for 52 %, contaminant properties for 28 %, and soil properties for 20 % of the model's predictive power. A comprehensive analysis suggests that practical applications should emphasize heating conditions for efficient soil remediation. Long-term and excessive alcohol consumption can lead to the development of alcoholic liver disease (ALD), characterized by oxidative damage, intestinal barrier injury, and disruption of intestinal microbiota. In this study, we extracted fucoidan (Aj-FUC) from Apostichopus japonicus using enzymatic methods and characterized its structure. The ALD model was established in male Balb/c mice using 56° Baijiu, with silymarin as a positive control. Mice were orally administered 100 mg/kg·bw and 300 mg/kg·bw of Aj-FUC for 28 days to evaluate its effects on liver injury in ALD mice and explore its potential role in modulating the gut-liver axis. The results showed significant improvements in histopathological changes and liver disease in the Aj-FUC group. Aj-FUC treatment significantly increased the levels of glutathione (GSH) and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) while weakly reduced the elevation of malondialdehyde (MDA) induced by ALD. It also regulated the Nrf2/HO-1 signaling pathway, collectively alleviating hepatic oxidative stress. Aj-FUC intervention upregulated the expression of ZO-1 and Occludin, thus contributing to repair the intestinal barrier. Additionally, Aj-FUC increased the content of short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) and regulated the imbalance in gut microbiota. These results suggested that Aj-FUC alleviates ALD by modulating the gut-liver axis homeostasis. Background and Purpose: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is called "immortal cancer", and it affects the quality of life, disability rate and even the survival of patients. This study aimed to observe the clinical efficacy, and adverse reactions of intradermal acupuncture (IA) in the treatment of RA patients with liver and kidney deficiency syndrome., Materials and Methods: 132 RA patients were split into an IA group and a sham IA group at a 1:1 ratio. Both groups were assessed before and after the intervention with the assessments: a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome evaluation, the Health Assessment Questionnaire (HAQ), the Disease Activity Score 28 (DAS28) and serum C-reactive protein (CRP)., Results: There was a statistically significant difference in TCM syndrome evaluation, HAQ, DAS28, and CRP between both groups before and after treatment (P < 0.01). The improvement of TCM syndrome evaluation (95% CI [1.14(0.38-1.89)]; P = 0.001), HAQ (95% CI [2.00(1.00-3.00)]; P = 0.003), and DAS28 (95% CI [0.11(0.02-0.20)]; P = 0.021) in the IA group was more obvious than that in the sham IA group (P < 0.05), except for CRP (95% CI [0.50(- 2.09 to 7.08)], P = 0.786). The difference in CRP outcome changes between the two groups was not statistically significant (P > 0.05). Both groups had comparable results in the implementation of RA in the upper and lower extremity acupoints and did not differ due to different sites (IA group: P = 0.852; sham IA group: P = 0.861). The comparison of effective rate of the upper limb as well as that of the lower limb was statistically significant (P = 0.001). Background: Our study aimed to assess the clinical and hemodynamic characteristics of pulmonary hypertension (PH) in patients with overlapping obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), referred to OSA-COPD overlap syndrome (OS)., Methods: We enrolled a total of 116 patients with OS, COPD, or OSA who underwent right heart catheterization (RHC) due to suspected PH. We conducted a retrospective analysis of the clinical and hemodynamic characteristics of these patients., Results: Among the three groups (OS group, n = 26; COPD group, n = 36; OSA group, n = 54), the prevalence of PH was higher in the OS group (n = 17, 65.4%)compared to OSA group (n = 26,48.1%) and COPD group (n = 20,55.6 %). Among three groups with PH, the superior vena cava pressure (CVP) and right ventricular pressure (RAP) were higher in the OS group than in the OSA group (P < 0.05). Patients in the OS and COPD groups had higher pulmonary artery wedge pressure (PAWP) than in the OSA group (14.88 ± 4.79 mmHg, 13.45 ± 3.68 mmHg vs. 11.00 ± 3.51 mmHg, respectively, P < 0.05). OS patients with PH exhibited higher respiratory event index (REI), time spent with SpO 2 <90%, oxygen desaturation index (ODI), minimal SpO 2 (MinSpO 2 ) and mean SpO 2 (MSpO 2 ) compared to OS patients without PH. After adjusting for potential covariates, we found that MinSpO 2 (OR 0.937, 95 % CI 0.882-0.994, P = 0.032), MSpO 2 (OR 0.805, 95% CI 0.682-0.949, P = 0.010), time spent with SpO 2 <90% (OR 1.422, 95% CI 1.137-1.780, P = 0.002), and FEV1 % pred (OR 0.977, 95 % CI 0.962-0.993, P = 0.005) were related to the development of PH., Conclusions: Patients with OS showed higher prevalence of PH, along with higher PAWP, CVP and RAP. Pain is a widespread motivation for seeking healthcare and stands as a substantial global public health concern. Despite comprehensive investigations into the mechanisms of pain sensitization induced by inflammation, efficacious treatments options remain scarce. Neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) have been associated with the progression and tissue damage of diverse inflammatory diseases. This study aims to explore the impact of NETs on the progression of inflammatory pain and explore potential therapeutic approaches. Initially, we observed neutrophil infiltration and the formation of NETs in the left hind paw of mice with inflammatory pain induced by complete Freund's adjuvant (CFA). Furthermore, we employed the peptidyl arginine deiminase 4 (PAD4) inhibitor Cl-amidine (diluted at 50 mg/kg in saline, administered via tail vein injection once daily for three days) to impede NETs formation and administered DNase1 (diluted at 10 mg/kg in saline, once daily for three days) to break down NETs. We investigated the pathological importance of peripheral NETs formation in inflammatory pain and its influence on the activation of spinal dorsal horn microglia. The findings indicate that neutrophils infiltrating locally generate NETs, leading to an increased release of inflammatory mediators that worsen peripheral inflammatory reactions. Consequently, this results in the transmission of more harmful peripheral stimuli to the spinal cord, triggering microglial activation and NF-κB phosphorylation, thereby escalating neuroinflammation and fostering pain sensitization. Suppression of peripheral NETs can mitigate peripheral inflammation in mice with inflammatory pain, reverse mechanical and thermal hypersensitivity by suppressing microglial activation in the spinal cord, ultimately diminishing inflammatory pain. Alkaline protease AprE, produced by Bacillus licheniformis 2709 is an important edible hydrolase, which has potential applications in nutrient acquisition and medicine. The expression of AprE is finely regulated by a complex transcriptional regulation system. However, there is little study on transcriptional regulation mechanism of AprE biosynthesis in Bacillus licheniformis, which limits system engineering and further enhancement of AprE. Here, the severely depressed expression of aprE in degU and degS deletion mutants illustrated that the regulator DegU and its phosphorylation played a crucial part in AprE biosynthesis. Further electrophoretic mobility shift assay (EMSA) in vitro indicated that phosphorylated DegU can directly bind to the regulatory region though the DNase I foot-printing experiments failed to observe protected region. The plasmid-mediated overexpression of degU32 (Hy) obviously improved the yield of AprE by 41.6 % compared with the control strain, which demonstrated the importance of phosphorylation state of DegU on the transcription of aprE in vivo. In this study, the putative binding sequence of aprE (5'-TAAAT……AAAAT…….AACAT…TAAAA-3') located upstream -91 to -87 bp, -101 to -97 bp, -195 to -191 bp, -215 to -211 bp of the transcription start site (TSS) in B. licheniformis was computationally identified based on the DNA-binding sites of DegU in Bacillus subtilis. Schisandra chinensis (Turcz.) Baill (SC) is a traditional sedative in China, with wide applications for treating various neurological disorders. Its polysaccharide component has been gaining increased attention for its potential in nerve protection. While raw SC is the primary focus of current research, its processed products are primarily utilized as clinical medicines. Notably, limited research exists on the mechanisms underlying the effects of wine-processed Schisandra chinensis polysaccharide (WSCP) in Alzheimer's Disease (AD). Therefore, this study seeks to assess the therapeutic impact of WSCP on AD mice and investigate the underlying mechanisms through biochemical and metabolomics analyses. The results demonstrate that WSCP exerts significant therapeutic effects on AD mice by enhancing learning and memory abilities, mitigating hippocampal neuronal damage, reducing abnormal amyloid-beta (Aβ) deposition, and attenuating hyperphosphorylation of Tau. Biochemical analysis revealed that WSCP can increase SOD content and decrease MDA, IL-6, and TNF-α content in AD mice. Furthermore, serum metabolomic results showed that WSCP intervention can reverse metabolic disorders in AD mice. 43 endogenous metabolites were identified as potential biomarkers for WSCP treatment of AD, and the major metabolic pathways were Ala, Glu and Asp metabolism, TCA cycle. Myzus persicae is an important pest that has developed resistance to nearly all currently used insecticidal products. The employment of insecticide synergists is one of the effective strategies that need to be developed for the management of this resistance. Our study showed that treatment with a combination of the antibiotic, rifampicin, with imidacloprid, cyantraniliprole, or clothianidin significantly increased their toxicities against M. persicae, by 2.72, 3.59, and 2.41 folds, respectively. Rifampicin treatment led to a noteworthy reduction in the activities of multifunctional oxidases (by 32.64%) and esterases (by 23.80%), along with a decrease in the expression of the CYP6CY3 gene (by 58.57%) in M. persicae. It also negatively impacted the fitness of the aphids, including weight, life span, number of offspring, and elongation of developmental duration. In addition, bioassays showed that the combination of rifampicin and a detoxification enzyme inhibitor, piperonyl butoxide, or dsRNA of CYP6CY3 further significantly improved the toxicity of imidacloprid against M. persicae, by 6.19- and 7.55-fold, respectively. Potentiometric sensors based on the molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) as the receptors have been successfully developed for determination of various organic and biological species. However, these MIP receptors may suffer from problems of low selectivity. Especially, it would be difficult to distinguish the target analyte from its structurally similar interferents. In this work, we propose a novel strategy that using specific functional monomer to fabricate MIP with high selectivity towards the target molecule. The density functional theory calculations are used to investigate the interactions between the template and the functional monomer. The binding energy between the template and functional monomer can be used as the criterion for identifying the optimal monomer. As a proof-of-concept experiment, bisphenol A (BPA) is chosen as the template and the MIP is synthesized by the precipitation polymerization method using the specific allyl-β-cyclodextrin (allyl-β-CD) with high affinity towards BPA as the functional monomer. The high-affinity MIP is employed as the receptor for the construction of the potentiometric sensor. The proposed potentiometric sensor based on the MIP using allyl-β-CD as the functional monomer shows an improved response performance in terms of selectivity and sensitivity compared to the conventional potentiometric sensor based on the MIP with the common monomer (i.e., methacrylic acid). This allyl-β-CD MIP-based potentiometric sensor shows a detection limit of 0.29 μM for BPA, which is about one order of magnitude lower than that obtained by the conventional MIP-based potentiometric sensor. Accurate and efficient quantitative analysis of the decomposition products of the insulating medium SF 6 in gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) is important for an effective assessment of its internal insulation status. In this work, a quantitative calibration model of Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) combined with SCARS-DNN (Stability Competitive Adaptive Reweighted Sampling-Deep Neural Network) is proposed for the rapid non-destructive detection of SF 6 decomposition products. First, the interference of the background gas SF 6 on the absorption spectra of the decomposition products is eliminated according to the Lambert-Beer law, while baseline correction and Savitzky-Golay (S-G) smoothing are used to remove baseline drift and noise. Subsequently, a Monte Carlo cross-validation method is used to detect and eliminate the anomalous samples. Then feature selection is performed using uninformative variable elimination (UVE) and stability competitive adaptive reweighted sampling (SCARS), and finally quantitative calibration models of FULL-DNN (full spectral band), UVE-DNN, and SCARS-DNN are developed. For the quantitative detection of SF 6 decomposition products, the SCARS-DNN model had the best prediction performance with a maximum reduction of 96.18% in the root mean square error (RMSE) and 96.11% in the mean absolute percentage error (MAPE). Results reveal that the relative errors are basically kept below 1.36% when predicting the three decomposition products, even in the presence of a high level of SF 6 interference. This study reports the strain Aspergillus flavus A5P1 (A5P1), which is with the capable of degrading the azo dye reactive orange 16 (RO16). The mechanism of RO16 degradation by A5P1 was elucidated through genomic analysis, enzymatic analysis, degradation pathway analysis and oxidative stress analysis. Strain A5P1 exhibited aerobic degradation of RO16, with optimal degradation at an initial pH of 3.0. Genomic analysis indicates that strain A5P1 possesses the potential for acid tolerance and degradation of azo dye. Enzymatic analysis, combined with degradation product analysis, demonstrated that extracellular laccase, intracellular lignin peroxidase, and intracellular quinone reductase were likely key enzymes in the RO16 degradation process. Oxidative stress analysis revealed that cell stress responses may participate in the RO16 biotransformation process. The results indicated that the biotransformation of RO16 may involves biological processes such as transmembrane transport of RO16, cometabolism of the strain with RO16, and cell stress responses. Trimethylamine N-oxide (TMAO) is a novel risk factor for atherosclerosis, and its underlying regulatory mechanisms are under intensive investigation. Inflammation-related vascular endothelial damage is the major driver in atherogenic process. Pyroptosis, a type of proinflammatory programmed cell death, has been proved to promote the initiation and progression of atherosclerosis. In our study, we found that TMAO triggered endothelial cells excessive mitophagy, thereby facilitating pyroptosis. This process is mediated by the upexpression of phosphatidylethanolamine acyltransferase (LPEAT). Phenotypic antimicrobial susceptibility testing enables reliable antibiotic screening but requires multiple strategies to identify each phenotypic change induced by different bactericidal mechanisms. Bacteria apoptosis with typical phenotypic features has never been explored for antibiotic screening. Herein, we developed an antibiotic screening method based on the measurement of antibiotic-induced phosphatidylserine (PS) exposure of apoptotic bacteria. Phosphatidylserine externalization of E. coli that can be widely used as an apoptosis marker for antibiotics with different antibacterial mechanisms was explored. A positively charged PS-binding peptide was immobilized on magnetic beads (MBs) to recognize and capture apoptotic E. coli with PS externalization. Apoptotic E. coli binding led to the charge or charge density change of MBs-peptide, resulting in a potential change on a magneto-controlled polymeric membrane potentiometric sensor. Based on the detection of apoptotic E. coli killed by antibiotics, antibiotic screening for different classes of antibiotics and silver nanoparticles was achieved within 1.5 h using a potentiometric sensor array. Essential oils (EOs) are liquid extracts derived from various parts of herbal or medicinal plants. They are widely accepted in food packaging due to their bioactive components, which exhibit remarkable antioxidant and antimicrobial properties against various pathogenic and food spoilage microorganisms. However, the functional efficacy of EOs is hindered by the high volatility of their bioactive compounds, leading to rapid release. Combining biopolymers with EOs forms a complex network within the polymeric matrix, reducing the volatility of EOs, controlling their release, and enhancing thermal and mechanical stability, favoring their application in food packaging or processing industries. This study presents a comprehensive overview of techniques used to encapsulate EOs, the natural polymers employed to load EOs, and the functional properties of EOs-loaded biopolymeric particles, along with their potential antioxidant and antimicrobial benefits. Additionally, a thorough discussion is provided on the widespread application of EOs-loaded biopolymers in the food industries. However, research on their utilization in confectionery processing, such as biscuits, chocolates, and others, remains limited. Due to the unique lamellar structures, physicochemical and biological properties, electronegative two-dimensional (2D) materials have been explored for surface modification of carbon fibers reinforced polyetheretherketone (CFR-PEEK) composite. Deposition of electronegative 2D materials based on a porous surface created by concentrated H 2 SO 4 has been studied to promote osteogenesis of CFR-PEEK. Generally, a porous layer will be pre-built on CFR-PEEK through severe corrosion of concentrated sulfuric acid to help the loading of 2D materials. However, the severe corrosion will greatly reduce surface mechanical strength, especially wear resistance and hardness, which increases the risk of collapse or even peeling of the bioactive coating by external force. Herein, instead of the severe corrosion, a mild corrosion by concentrated HNO 3 was applied to modify the surface of CFR-PEEK to pre-create a dense transition layer for the further surface decoration of electronegative 2D materials (graphene oxide (GO) and black phosphorus (BP), representatively). The results indicated that hardness and wear resistance of the dense transition layer were markedly higher than those of the porous layer. Although GO and BP can be both loaded on these two transition layers, -SO 3 H on the porous transition layer showed moderate cytotoxicity, while -NO 2 on the dense transition layer showed good cytocompatibility. The dense transition layer displayed higher mineralized deposition in vitro and new bone formation rate in vivo than the porous transition layer, moreover, GO and BP coatings improved osteogenesis. Surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) is an ultrasensitive analytical method which has been applied in many fields, and the reproducibility of the substrate is important for reliable SERS analysis. In present work, an innovative method inspired by the flower planting process is put forward to acquire gold nanoflower (AuNF) SERS substrate. Three steps (digging holes, sowing the gold nanoseeds and seeds grow into gold nanoflowers) are included in the substrate fabrication process, and the influence of preparing conditions (like reacting time and Na 3 Au(SO 3 ) 2 concentration) on the substrate morphology and SERS performance are investigated. The acquired AuNF substrate not only exhibits good SERS performance but also possesses excellent reproducibility while being used to detect the rhodamine 6G (R6G) molecular. The relative standard deviation (RSD) of Raman signals among substrates acquired in distinct batches (substrate-to-substrate) is as low as 6.67 %. In the thermal treatment of municipal solid waste incineration fly ash (FA), the presence of chlorides leads to the pronounced volatilization of heavy metals at high temperature, making heavy metals stabilization challenging. Conventional washing processes struggle to remove chlorides completely, and even minor residual chlorides can lead to significant heavy metal volatilization. This study innovatively applied iron(III) sulfate as a chlorine depleting agent, which can form FeCl 3 (boiling point 316 °C) and volatilize to remove the residual chlorides at below 500 °C, thus preventing the chlorination and volatilization of heavy metals at 600-1000 °C. Using water-washed FA to produce lightweight aggregate (LWA) preparation, after adding iron(III) sulfate, the volatilization rates of Pb and Cd at 1140 °C decreased to 5.4% and 9.3%, respectively, a reduction of 82.8% and 84.1% compared to before its addition. The LWA met standard requirements in both performance and heavy metal leaching toxicity. The mechanism was further studied through thermodynamic equilibrium calculations and heating experiments of pure chemicals. Research Question: What impact does dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) have on ovarian angiogenesis and function in a rat model of with premature ovarian insufficiency (POI), and what are the potential mechanisms of action?, Design: DHEA was added to a culture of human microvascular endothelial cells (HMEC-1) to investigate its effects on cell proliferation, migration and tube formation. A rat model of POI was established by intraperitoneal injection of cyclophosphamide, followed by continuous oral administration of DHEA or vehicle for 28 days. Ovarian angiogenesis, follicular growth and granulosa cell survival in ovarian tissues were assessed through haematoxylin and eosin staining, immunohistochemistry and TdT (terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase)-mediated dUTP nick-end labelling (TUNEL). The effect of DHEA on the fertility of rats with POI was evaluated in pregnant animals. The expression levels of characteristic genes and proteins in the hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF)-1α/vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) pathway was determined using quantitative reverse transcription PCR and western blotting., Results: In-vitro experiments revealed that DHEA stimulated the proliferation, migration and tube formation of HMEC-1. In in-vivo studies, DHEA treatment improved the disruption of the oestrous cycle and hormone imbalances in POI rats. This study aims to investigate the influence of seasonal variations on Volatile fatty acids (VFAs) production from food waste (FW) and to quantify their impact. Results of batch experiments with external pH control indicated that the properties of FW exhibited significant seasonal variations and were markedly different from kitchen waste (KW). The spring group demonstrated the highest VFA concentration and VFA/SCOD, at 31.24 g COD/L and 92.20 % respectively, which were 1.22 and 1.27 times higher than those observed in the summer season. The combined proportion of acetic acid and butyric acid accounted for 81.10 % of the total VFAs in spring, suggesting the highest applicability to the carbon source. The VFA content of all seasonal groups in descending order was butyric acid, propionic acid and acetic acid. The co-contamination of pesticide residues and mycotoxins in agricultural products is a global concern, with the potential for cumulative and synergistic damaging effects, imposing substantial health and economic burdens to the public. The dosage-sensitive and simultaneous detection of multiple pollutants, with a heightened sensitivity in real samples, poses a significant demand and challenge. Herein, we propose a portable detection method integrating surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS)-with lateral flow immunoassay (LFIA), offering high sensitivity and multiplex analysis capabilities. This approach enables the simultaneous detection of imidacloprid (IMI), pyraclostrobin (PYR) and aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) through a single test strip. Utilizing the immune-specific binding between antigen and antibodies, we immobilised antibody- conjugated SERS nanotags on three test lines of the strips to generate Raman signal amplification in the proposed biosensor. Accurate quantitative analysis was performed by measuring the SERS signal intensity on the test lines. The limits of detection were 8.6 pg/mL for IMI, 97.4 pg/mL for PYR and 8.9 pg/mL for AFB1, exhibiting sensitivities 12-fold, 102-fold and11-fold higher than the colorimetric signals, respectively. Importantly, the SERS-LFIA immunosensor demonstrated robust performance when applied to real samples, yielding recoveries ranging from 86.16 % to 115.0 %, with relative standard deviation values below 8.67 %. These results underscore the excellent stability, high selectivity and reliability the proposed SERS-LFIA immunosensor. Background: XueFuZhuYu (XFZY), a typical Chinese herbal formula, has remarkable clinical effects for treating Pulmonary Hypertension (PH) with unclear mechanisms. Our research involved the utilization of network pharmacology to explore the traditional Chinese herbal monomers and their related targets within XFZY for PH treatment. Furthermore, molecular docking verification was performed., Methods: The XFZY's primary active compounds, along with their corresponding targets, were both obtained from the TCMSP, ChEMBL, and UniProt databases. The target proteins relevant to PH were sifted through OMIM, GeneCards and TTD databases. The common "XFZY-PH" targets were evaluated with Disease Ontology (DO), Gene Ontology (GO), and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) analyses with the assistance of R software. The Protein-Protein Interaction (PPI) network and compound-target-pathway network were constructed and a systematic analysis of network parameters was performed by the powerful software Cytoscape. Molecular docking was employed for assessing and verifying the interactions between the core targets and the top Chinese herbal monomer., Results: The screening included 297 targets of active compounds in XFZY and 8400 PH-related targets. DO analysis of the above common 268 targets indicated that the treatment of the diseases by XFZY is mediated by genes related to Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Obstructive Lung Disease (OLD), ischemia, and myocardial infarction. Background: Immune checkpoint inhibitors in combination with tyrosine kinase inhibitors are standard treatments for advanced clear cell renal cell carcinoma (RCC). This phase III RENOTORCH study compared the efficacy and safety of toripalimab plus axitinib versus sunitinib for the first-line treatment of patients with intermediate-/poor-risk advanced RCC., Patients and Methods: Patients with intermediate-/poor-risk unresectable or metastatic RCC were randomized in a ratio of 1 : 1 to receive toripalimab (240 mg intravenously once every 3 weeks) plus axitinib (5 mg orally twice daily) or sunitinib [50 mg orally once daily for 4 weeks (6-week cycle) or 2 weeks (3-week cycle)]. The primary endpoint was progression-free survival (PFS) assessed by an independent review committee (IRC). The secondary endpoints were investigator-assessed PFS, overall response rate (ORR), overall survival (OS), and safety., Results: A total of 421 patients were randomized to receive toripalimab plus axitinib (n = 210) or sunitinib (n = 211). With a median follow-up of 14.6 months, toripalimab plus axitinib significantly reduced the risk of disease progression or death by 35% compared with sunitinib as assessed by an IRC [hazard ratio (HR) 0.65, 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.49-0.86; P = 0.0028]. The median PFS was 18.0 months in the toripalimab-axitinib group, whereas it was 9.8 months in the sunitinib group. The IRC-assessed ORR was significantly higher in the toripalimab-axitinib group compared with the sunitinib group (56.7% versus 30.8%; P < 0.0001). An OS trend favoring toripalimab plus axitinib was also observed (HR 0.61, 95% CI 0.40-0.92). Huntington's disease (HD) is a neurodegenerative disorder involving psychiatric, cognitive and motor deficits, as well as peripheral symptoms, including gastrointestinal dysfunction. The R6/1 HD mouse model expresses a mutant human huntingtin transgene and has been shown to provide an accurate disease model. Recent evidence of gut microbiome disruption was shown in preclinical and clinical HD. Therefore, we aimed to assess the potential role of gut microbial modulation in the treatment of HD. The R6/1 HD mice and wild-type littermate controls were randomised to receive diets containing different amounts of fibre: high-fibre (10 % fibre), control (5 % fibre), or zero-fibre (0 % fibre), from 6 to 20 weeks of age. We characterized the onset and progression of motor, cognitive and affective deficits, as well as gastrointestinal function and gut morphological changes. Faeces were collected for gut microbiome profiling using 16S rRNA sequencing, at 14 and 20 weeks of age. When compared to the control diet, high-fibre diet improved the performance of HD mice in behavioral tests of cognitive and affective function, as well as the gastrointestinal function of both HD and wild-type mice. While the diets changed the beta diversity of wild-type mice, no statistical significance was observed at 14 or 20 weeks of age within the HD mice. Analysis of Composition of Microbiomes with Bias Correction (ANCOM-BC) models were performed to evaluate microbiota composition, which identified differences, including a decreased relative abundance of the phyla Actinobacteriota, Campylobacterota and Proteobacteria and an increased relative abundance of the families Bacteroidaceae, Oscillospiraceae and Ruminococcaceae in HD mice when compared to wild-type mice after receiving high-fibre diet. PICRUSt2 revealed that high-fibre diet also decreased potentially pathogenic functional pathways in HD. In conclusion, high-fibre intake was effective in enhancing gastrointestinal function, cognition and affective behaviors in HD mice. Washing method has attracted much attention in the research of municipal solid waste incineration (MSWI) fly ash treatment and resource utilization. However, the controlled leaching of heavy metals and the extraction of recyclable calcium in the washing process are still blank. Acid controlled washing was conducted with different acids, concentrations, times and temperatures to extract calcium while inhibiting heavy metals. The mechanism was investigated by reaction kinetics calculation and washed fly ash characterization. The high Ca concentration of 37,420 mg/L while the low heavy metal concentrations of around or <1 mg/L were achieved at 25 °C for 60 min under a liquid-solid ratio (L/S) of 3/1 in 1.5 M HCl. The reaction kinetics of acid controlled washing conformed the layer diffusion control. The results of X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM) and energy dispersive spectrum (EDS) analysis indicated that the rate-limiting step was the diffusion of ions through the product layer. The formation of stable and mature biofilms affects the efficient and stable removal of ammonium by biological activated carbon (BAC). In this study, the new granular activated carbon (GAC) was preloaded with the carbon source (glucose and sucrose) and nano manganese dioxide (nMnO 2 ) before using. Then tests were performed to determine whether substrate preloading promoted ammonium removal. The ammonium removal treated by nMnO 2 coupled with sucrose-loaded BAC reached 49.1 ± 2.5%, which was 1.7 times higher than that by the nonloaded BAC 28.2 ± 1.9%). The biomass on the substrate-loaded BAC reached 5.83 × 10 6 -1.22 × 10 7  cells/g DW GAC on Day 7, which was 4.6-9.5 times higher than the value of the nonloaded BAC (1.28 × 10 6  cells/g DW GAC). The amount of extracellular polymer (i.e., protein) on nMnO 2 coupled to sucrose-loaded BAC was promoted significantly. Flavobacterium (0.7%-11%), Burkholderiaceae (13%-20%) and Aquabacterium (30%-67%) were the dominant functional bacteria on the substrate-loaded BAC, which were conducive to the nitrification or denitrification process. The results indicated that loading nMnO 2 and/or a carbon source accelerated the formation of biofilms on BAC and ammonium removal. Priming effect (PE) plays a crucial role in regulating the decomposition of soil organic matter (SOM). Multiple empirical results have shown that nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) addition can significantly alter the direction and intensity of PE, which may significantly affect carbon turnover in grasslands, especially in alpine meadows that are sensitive to N and P enrichment. To evaluate the PE responses to N and/or P addition, we conducted an incubation experiment by adding 13 C-labeled glucose and nutrient additions (+N, +P, and +NP) in soils collected from an alpine meadow. The soils were incubated for 30 days and soil/microbial properties and enzyme activities were measured. Partial correlation and linear regression analyses were then performed to investigate their correlations with PE. The results showed that mean PE intensity among all treatments was 0.61 mg C g -1 soil or 1.35 (ratio). Nitrogen addition increased PE intensity, which was attributed to the better match between soil resources and microbial demands and enhanced enzyme activities. However, the PE intensity in P-addition soils was lower than that in control soils. This discrepancy may be related to the P-induced decrease of N availability and stronger microbial C/N imbalance. No significant response of PE intensity to NP addition was detected, and this could be explained by the offset of positive N effects and negative P effects on microbial decomposition. In this experiment, N or P addition altered the PE intensity by mediating the match between soil C:N:P ratio and microbial demands, which supported the stoichiometric decomposition hypothesis. Although efficient removal of Cs from wastewater is of great importance because of the nuclear energy sustainable development and public health, removing cesium is challenging for the high concentrations of sodium and potassium ions coexist. In this work, we synthesized the first novel bismuth-doped layered tin sulfide (KBS) and applied it to the efficient green adsorption of liquid cesium resources. KBS could reach the adsorption equilibrium for Cs + within only 2 min with a theoretical adsorption capacity of 425.55 mg/g. Furthermore, the adsorption performance remained reliable after 10 cycles of use. The structure and properties of KBS were explained at the molecular level by DFT calculations, and the calculated results were in sound agreement with the experimental data. Meanwhile, in this study, the material was reinforced and shaped by the electrostatic interaction of Zein and sodium alginate hydrogel, and finally, Zein@SA/KBS spherical composite adsorbent was obtained. The problem of the difficult recovery of adsorbent and the secondary contamination was solved. The adsorption performance of Zein@SA/KBS on Cs + was better than most composite adsorbents and showed reliable stability. In order to accelerate the start-up of biological activated carbon (BAC) filters and enhance ammonium (NH 4 + -N) removal performance, three substrates (sucrose and/or nano manganese dioxide (nMnO 2 )) pre-loaded BAC filters were set up to investigate the pollutants removals and microbiological characteristics for a long-term operation of 197 days. The average NH 4 + -N removal performance treated by the sucrose coupled with nMnO 2 loaded BAC filter was the highest (71.18 %), which was 3.83 times of that by the control filter (18.58 %). 29 % of NH 4 + -N treated by the sucrose coupled with nMnO 2 loaded BAC removed through the traditional nitrification and denitrification, or simultaneous nitrification and denitrification (SND) pathways according to the calculation of the alkalinity consumption (6.12 mmol/L). There was no leakage of carbon source and Mn, and no accumulation of nitrite from the substrates loaded BAC. The dominant bacteria in the sucrose coupled with nMnO 2 loaded BAC were Dechloromona (accounting for 8.02% of the total bacterial) and Acidaminobacter (accounting for 15.16% of total bacterial) on the Day 180, which had the capacity of nitrification or denitrification. NH 4 + -N and micropollutants removals treated by the combined process of peracetic acid (PAA) pre-oxidation and substrates loaded BAC were significant due to the generation of assimilable organic carbon (AOC) (5.98 ± 1.93 μg-C/mL) by PAA (100 μM)/Fe 2+ pre-oxidation and the higher biomass ((4.57 ± 3.07) × 10 7  cells/g DW BAC) in the sucrose coupled with nMnO 2 loaded BAC filter. However, the low transplantation and retention rate of stem cells and loss of stemness due to in vitro expansion limits the therapeutic efficacy. In our study, we combined collagen hydrogel and human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (uMSCs) for improving the regeneration of thin endometrium, by using the potent pluripotency and low immunogenicity of uMSCs and collagen hydrogel that promotes the anchorage and proliferation of stem cells. Results showed that collagen hydrogel has favorable biocompatibility and the capacity to enhance the cell viability and expression of stemness-associated genes (including organic cation/carnitine transporter4 (Oct-4), Nanog homeobox (Nanog) and SRY-box transcription factor 2 (SOX2)) of uMSCs. The combination of collagen hydrogel and uMSCs prolonged the retention time of the constructs in the uterine cavity and improved endometrial thickness compared with uMSCs alone, leading to increase the fertility of the rats with thin endometrium.
