Climate change threatens all forms of life. Urgent responses in the form of adaptation strategies are one way that biodiversity and human communities might withstand the coming disruptions. Mountainous landscapes are particularly suited to adaptation responses because of the diversity of habitats they provide for many species within relatively small areas. Yellowstone to Yukon (Y2Y) is a mountainous region within which a network of agencies, organizations, indigenous groups, and communities is promoting and implementing a vision designed to anticipate and enable climate adaptation. The Crown Conservation Initiative provides a specific example of the finer-scale application of climate adaptation strategies within the Y2Y region.
