Introduction: Training of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for biomedical image analysis depends on large annotated datasets. This study assessed the efficacy of Active Learning (AL) strategies training AI models for accurate multilabel segmentation and detection of periapical lesions in cone-beam CTs (CBCTs) using a limited dataset., Methods: Limited field-of-view CBCT volumes (n = 20) were segmented by clinicians (clinician segmentation [CS]) and Bayesian U-Net-based AL strategies. Two AL functions, Bayesian Active Learning by Disagreement [BALD] and Max&#95;Entropy [ME], were used for multilabel segmentation ("Lesion"-"Tooth Structure"-"Bone"-"Restorative Materials"-"Background"), and compared to a non-AL benchmark Bayesian U-Net function. The training-to-testing set ratio was 4:1. Comparisons between the AL and Bayesian U-Net functions versus CS were made by evaluating the segmentation accuracy with the Dice indices and lesion detection accuracy. The Kruskal-Wallis test was used to assess statistically significant differences., Results: The final training set contained 26 images. After 8 AL iterations, lesion detection sensitivity was 84.0% for BALD, 76.0% for ME, and 32.0% for Bayesian U-Net, which was significantly different (P < .0001; H = 16.989). The mean Dice index for all labels was 0.680 ± 0.155 for Bayesian U-Net and 0.703 ± 0.166 for ME after eight AL iterations, compared to 0.601 ± 0.267 for Bayesian U-Net over the mean of all iterations. The Dice index for "Lesion" was 0.504 for BALD and 0.501 for ME after 8 AL iterations, and at a maximum 0.288 for Bayesian U-Net., Conclusions: Both AL strategies based on uncertainty quantification from Bayesian U-Net BALD, and ME, provided improved segmentation and lesion detection accuracy for CBCTs. Efficient catalysts for oxygen (O 2 ) activation under room condition are required for effective wet air oxidation (WAO) technology. Here, we report a novel manganese-cobalt-based composite (MnO-CoO@Co) fabricated on a graphite felt (GF) support for catalyzing the electro-activation of O 2 under room condition. Abundant Co-MnO and CoO-MnO heterointerfaces are formed in the composite. In comparison to the single-metal counterparts, i.e. CoO@Co/GF (16.99 wt% Co) and MnO/GF (26.83 wt% Mn), the bimetal MnO-CoO@Co/GF (5.29 wt% Co and 8.79 wt% Mn) displays an improved oxygen storage capacity and provides more active sites to accommodate surface adsorbed oxygen species. Notably, the strong synergy derived from bimetal heterointerfaces enhances the electron transfer and oxygen mobilization during the electro-activation of O 2 , thereby significantly reducing the reaction barrier. MnO-CoO@Co/GF exhibits excellent efficiency and stability in electrocatalytic WAO (ECWAO) towards the removal of pharmaceuticals and personal care products (PPCPs) over a wide pH range from 4.0 to 10.0. A model pollutant sulfamethoxazole (SMX) acquires mineralization efficiency of 78.4 ± 2.1% and mineralization current efficiency of 157.89% at +1.0 V of electrode potential. The toxicity of PPCPs can be totally eliminated after the ECWAO treatment. This work highlights the synergy derived from bimetal heterointerfaces in O 2 electrocatalysis, and provides a promising approach for advanced WAO catalysts in PPCPs pollution control., (Copyright © 2021 Elsevier B.V. Humans have been suffering from vitiligo for a long time. Target vitiligo drugs have yet been approved. Activation of Wnt/β-catenin signalling has potential in the therapeutic use of vitiligo, so exploring new drugs that specifically directly activate Wnt is worthwhile to obtain new anti-vitiligo agents. In this work, two portions design and synthesis were put into effect. firstly, 17 phenanthridine derivatives with C-4 substitutes were designed and synthesized, which compounds 4, 6, 12, 13 served as H-acceptor with protein showed enhance melanogenesis activity; Secondly, 7 hybrid new scaffolds of compounds were designed and synthesized, scaffold hopping compound 36 that aromatic benzene was replaced pyrazole on ring C showed enhance melanogenesis and tyrosinase activity; The last and most important, a comprehensive optimization and SARs of compound 36 were carried out, compounds 41 and 43 shared phenolic hydroxyl or 3-methyl-pyridine substitutes at C-7 position remarkably improved the capacity of melanogenesis and tyrosinase activity. Compound 43 were identified as new anti-vitiligo agents that specifically activate the Wnt/β-catenin signalling pathway by targeting Axin. Structure-activity relationship analysis implied that H-acceptor substitutions at the C-4 position and phenolic hydroxyl or pyridine substitutions at the C-7 position would improve the activities of the compounds. Ten new nortriterpenes, euphorbiumrins A-J (1-10), together with three known analogues (11-13) were isolated from the latex of Euphorbia resinifera. Their structures were established on the basis of extensive spectroscopic analyses (IR, UV, HRESIMS, 1D and 2D NMR). Their inhibitions on tomato yellow leaf curl virus (TYLCV) were evaluated and compound 5 exhibited significant anti-TYLCV activity with an inhibition rate of 71.7% at concentration of 40 μg/mL., (Copyright © 2021 Elsevier B.V. Objective: To analyze the correlation between placenta related disease of pregnant women with antecedent hysteroscopic adhesiolysis due to intrauterine adhesions (IUA)., Materials and Methods: This is a single center, non-randomized, open-label, retrospective cohort Study. 74 patients who had adhesiolysis and hormone therapy for IUA and progressed into the third trimester were group A and 296 without IUA were group B. The main outcome measure is the incidence of placenta related disease including placenta accreta spectrum, placenta previa, placental abruption, intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR), and pregnancy-induced hypertension (PIH). The second outcome is the perinatal, and intrapartum complications., Results: Patients in group A had a higher frequency of prior pregnancy times (2.51 ± 1.56 vs.1.84 ± 1.06, p = 0.001) and lower frequency of prior delivery times (0.20 ± 0.41 vs. 1.30 ± 0.51, p < 0.05) than group B at baseline. At delivery, there is no difference between the incidence of PIH and IUGR between two groups. However, a significantly higher frequency of placenta accreta (17.6% vs. 1.4%, OR = 15.56, 95% CI 4.91-49.34), placenta increta (5.4% vs. 0.7%, OR = 8.4, 95% CI 1.51-46.78), placenta previa (8.1% vs. 2.0%, OR = 4.265, 95%CI1.33-13.63) and postpartum hemorrhage (21.6% vs. 3.4%, OR = 7.890, 95% CI 3.41-18.26) were observed in group A than in group B., Conclusions: Compared to general population, the rates of placenta accreta, placenta increta, placenta previa, postpartum hemorrhage are higher among the IUA patients after hysteroscopic adhesiolysis, and special attention is needed at the termination of the pregnancy., Competing Interests: Declaration of Competing Interest The authors have no conflicts of interest relevant to this article., (Copyright © 2020. Two new sesquiterpenoids were isolated from Stellera chamaejasme L., known as the traditional Chinese herb 'Rui Xiang Lang Du'. The compounds were elucidated as stelleraguaianone B (1) and C (2) by comprehensive spectroscopic analysis, including 1D and 2D NMR as well as HRESIMS, and by comparing their NMR data with known compounds. In addition, the structure of 1 was further confirmed by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Both the compounds were evaluated for their cytotoxicity on common tumour cell lines in vitro, which revealed that compound 1 exhibits cytotoxic activity on A549 cells, while 2 has no activity., (Copyright © 2019 Elsevier B.V. Phenanthridine derivativeHLY78 has previously been identified as the first Wnt/β-catenin signalling pathway agonist that targets the DAX domain of axin. However, due to the relatively weak activation on the Wnt/β-catenin signalling pathway, HLY78 is insufficient for further pharmacological study. Herein, the structural optimization of HLY78 and analyses of the structure-activity relationships (SARs) of HLY78-derived phenanthridine derivatives as agonists of the Wnt/β-catenin signalling pathway are presented. In this work, 36 derivatives were designed and synthesized with some derivatives exhibiting stronger Wnt activity than the activity of HLY78. In particular, one of them, 8-((1,3-dimethy-pyrazol-5-yl)methoxy)-5-ethyl-4-methyl-5,6-dihydro-phenanthridin-9-ol, exhibited strong Wnt active activity and is 10 times more potent than HLY78. The following SAR analysis suggests that a pyrazole group, especially at the C-8 position, is important for Wnt activation; a methyl group at the C-4position seems to be more beneficial for Wnt activation than ethyl; and oxidation of the C-6 position reduces the Wnt activation., (Copyright © 2018. Five previously undescribed ambuic acid derivatives, pestallic acids A-E and three known analogs were isolated from the cultured broth of Pestalotiopsis sp. FT172. The structures of the pestallic acids A-E were determined through the analysis of HRMS and NMR spectroscopic data. The absolute configurations (ACs) of pestallic acids B-E were assigned by comparison of the experimental electric circular dichroism (ECD) spectra or the optical rotations with those in the literature. All compounds were tested against A2780 and cisplatin resistant A2780 (A2780CisR) cell lines. Seven sesquiterpene derivatives, including chaetopenoids A-F and dendryphiellin A1, and 6-methyl-(2E, 4E, 6S) octadienoic acid were isolated from the culture broth of Chaetoconis sp. FT087. Their structures were determined through the analysis of HRMS and NMR spectroscopic data. The absolute configurations of chaetopenoids A-D were elucidated by comparison of their CD and optical rotation data with those in the literature. Chaetopenoids A-C and E belong to the eremophilane type of sesquiterpenoids, while chaetopenoids D and F and dendryphiellin A1 have a trinor-eremophilane skeleton. All compounds were tested against A2780 and cisplatin resistant A2780CisR cell lines, and dendryphiellin A1 was moderately active with IC50 values of 6.6 and 9.1 μg/mL, respectively., (Copyright © 2016 Elsevier Ltd. Five right-handed patients with subcortical aphasia that involved the left hemisphere subcortical lesion sites were subjected to CT scans. Given their etiology, two cases were infarctions and the other three were hemorrhages. Two of the patients presented an involvement of the anterior limb of the internal capsule and of the basal ganglia and an anterior superior white-matter lesion extension. In both cases slow scanty dysarthric speech was noted; one had markedly impaired auditory comprehension, and the others were only partially impaired. The third patient presented an involvement of the posterior limb of the internal capsule and of the thalamus and a posterior paraventricular white-matter lesion extension. He had poor auditory comprehension, echolalia, and fluent speech. The last two patients presented an involvement of the internal capsule, the basal ganglia, and the thalamus and an anterior posterior paraventricular white-matter lesion extension. The latter two showed poor auditory comprehension with nonfluent and scanty spontaneous speech. The speech sounds were nonsensical monosyllabic words with a pattern similar to that of global aphasia. All patients had lasting right hemiplegia.
