Mesotrione is a herbicide used in agricultural production; however, its stability and long-term residues pose ecological risks to soil health and subsequent crops. In this research, the strain Amycolatopsis nivea La24 was identified as capable of completely degrading 50 mg∙L -1 mesotrione within 48 h. It exhibited a broad adaptability to various environment and could degrade three sulfonylurea herbicides (nicosulfuron, chlorimuron-methyl, and cinosulfuron). Non-target metabonomic and mass spectrometry demonstrated that La24 strain broke down the mesotrione parent molecule by targeting the β-diketone bond and nitro group, resulting in the production of five possible degradation products. The differentially expressed genes were significantly enriched in fatty acid degradation, amino acid metabolism, and other pathways, and the differentially metabolites in glutathione metabolism, arginine/proline metabolism, cysteine/methionine metabolism, and other pathways. Additionally, it was confirmed by heterologous expression that nitroreductase was directly involved in the mesotrione degradation, and NDMA-dependent methanol dehydrogenase would increase the resistance to mesotrione. Finally, the intracellular response of La24 during mesotrione degradation was proposed. Lathyrane-based diterpenoid is one of the critical bioactive elements of Euphorbia lathyris L., a widely used traditional Chinese medicine for the treatment of inflammation and infection. In this study, we introduced and evaluated seven synthetic or natural lathyrane-based diterpenoids with the same core structure but notable structural variations at specific positions, for their anti-inflammatory and gout-alleviating properties. There was no significant cytotoxicity below 10 μM among the initial test of the cell counting kit 8 of the seven candidate derivatives (compounds 13 to 19) in this work. Furthermore, maintaining the acyloxy group at 15-C position and the strongly hydrophobic aryl structure at 3-C and 5-C positions, compounds 15 (Euphorbia factor L3, EFL3) and 17 strikingly inhibited the production of IL-1β related to the actuation of the inflammasome in our study. The ELISA assay indicated that the anti-inflammatory effects of EFL3 were better associated with MSU stimulation than other second-line pathways triggered by inflammasome. Further examinations on the acute paw gout model in C57BL/6 mice showed that EFL3 had a significantly inflammatory retarding effect by intraperitoneal injection. It decreased swelling volume as well as the cleavage and activation of local IL-1β and casepas-1 in the paw. To conclude, our findings reveal several potential key structure-activity relationships that govern the anti-inflammatory effects of lathyrane-type diterpenoids, the dispensable acyl group at the 15-C position, the importance of maintaining the spatial structure of the B-ring, and the potential importance of hydrophobic substituents at the 3-C position. The growing interest in paper-based materials for packaging is driven by their renewable and eco-friendly characteristics. However, their poor barrier performance against water, oil, and gas limits their application in the food packaging industry. In this study, we developed a simple dual-layer coating method to create water- and oil-repellent, gas barrier, antioxidant, and antibacterial paper-based materials using naturally-derived materials, including chitosan (CS), ethyl cellulose (EC), and cascade biorefinery products from green walnut husk (GWHE and CNC). The bottom CS/CNC oil-resistant coating and the top EC/GWHE water-resistant coating were applied to the paper surface. The synergistic effect of these coatings enhances the gas barrier and imparts functional properties to the paper. Compared to uncoated paper, the dual-layer-coated paper demonstrated a 239.1 % increase in tensile index, a higher kit rating value of 12/12, a lower Cobb 60 value of 3.21 mg/m 2 , a 44.0 % decrease in water vapor permeability (WVP), and a 90.7 % reduction in air permeability (AP). Additionally, this coated paper exhibited good antioxidant and antibacterial properties and favorable biodegradability. -Accurate lung tumor segmentation from Computed Tomography (CT) scans is crucial for lung cancer diagnosis. Since the 2D methods lack the volumetric information of lung CT images, 3D convolution-based and Transformer-based methods have recently been applied in lung tumor segmentation tasks using CT imaging. However, most existing 3D methods cannot effectively collaborate the local patterns learned by convolutions with the global dependencies captured by Transformers, and widely ignore the important boundary information of lung tumors. To tackle these problems, we propose a 3D boundary-guided hybrid network using convolutions and Transformers for lung tumor segmentation, named BGHNet. In BGHNet, we first propose the Hybrid Local-Global Context Aggregation (HLGCA) module with parallel convolution and Transformer branches in the encoding phase. To aggregate local and global contexts in each branch of the HLGCA module, we not only design the Volumetric Cross-Stripe Window Transformer (VCSwin-Transformer) to build the Transformer branch with local inductive biases and large receptive fields, but also design the Volumetric Pyramid Convolution with transformer-based extensions (VPConvNeXt) to build the convolution branch with multi-scale global information. Then, we present a Boundary-Guided Feature Refinement (BGFR) module in the decoding phase, which explicitly leverages the boundary information to refine multi-stage decoding features for better performance. Extensive experiments were conducted on two lung tumor segmentation datasets, including a private dataset (HUST-Lung) and a public benchmark dataset (MSD-Lung). Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) in high-latitude polar regions and the Tibetan Plateau have received widespread international attention. Here, we measured 18 PFASs and 11 major isomers in the lake water, sediment, and surrounding runoff of Lake Nam Co in 2020. The concentrations of ultrashort-chain trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) and perfluoropropanoic acid (PFPrA) and major isomers of perfluoooctanoic acid (PFOA) and perfluoooctane sulfonate acid (PFOS) in water bodies in high-latitude polar regions and the Tibetan Plateau are reported for the first time. The results showed that the concentration of ∑PFASs in glacial runoff was approximately 139 % greater than that in nonglacial runoff. The concentrations of ∑PFASs in the lake water and sediment in the southern lake with multiple glacial runoff events were approximately 113 % and 108 % higher, respectively, than those in the northern lake. The concentrations of short-chain perfluorobutanoic acid (PFBA) and ultrashort-chain TFA and PFPrA, which may be indicators of ice and snow melt, exhibited significant spatial heterogeneity. Berberine (BBR), a well-known quaternary ammonium alkaloid, is recognized for its ability to prevent and alleviate metabolic disorders because of its anti-oxidative and anti-inflammatory properties. However, the underlying mechanisms of BBR to mitigate fatty liver hemorrhagic syndrome (FLHS) through the modulation of gut microbiota and their metabolism remained unclear. The results revealed that BBR ameliorates lipid metabolism disorder in high-energy and low-protein (HELP) diet-induced FLHS laying hens, as evidenced by improved liver function and lipid deposition of the liver, reduced blood lipids, and the expression of liver lipid synthesis-related factors. Moreover, BBR alleviated HELP diet-induced barrier dysfunction, increased microbial population, and dysregulated lipid metabolism in the ileum. BBR reshaped the HELP-perturbed gut microbiota, particularly declining the abundance of Desulfovibrio_piger and elevating the abundance of Bacteroides_salanitronis_DSM_18170. Meanwhile, metabolomic profiling analysis revealed that BBR reshaped microbial metabolism and function, particularly by reducing the levels of hydrocinnamic acid, dehydroanonaine, and leucinic acid. Furthermore, fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) experiments revealed that BBR-enriched gut microbiota alleviated hepatic lipid deposition and intestinal inflammation compared with those chicks that received a gut microbiota by HELP. Yolk Peritonitis can lead to a rapid decline in egg production, which seriously affects the health of laying hens and the profitability of chicken farms. Escherichia coli (E. coli) is the most common cause of yolk peritonitis in laying hens. In this study, bacterial samples were collected from the ovaries and fallopian tubes of laying hens with suspected yolk peritonitis from a laying farm in Jiangsu Province, and their pathogenicity and drug resistance were investigated. Initially, morphological and biochemical detection methods were employed to isolate and identify the pathogenic bacteria. The results showed that a total of 16 strains of E. coli were isolated from laying hens with yolk peritonitis. Subsequently, the drug resistance and pathogenicity of a randomly selected E. coli strain were analyzed and predicted by genome sequencing technology, and the drug resistance of E. coli was verified by drug sensitivity test and PCR. Finally, the virulence was verified by infection experiment in mice. The study revealed that the egg-yolk peritonitis in laying hens was caused by E. coli infection, and the genome sequencing analysis revealed that the bacteria had multidrug resistance and high virulence. The drug susceptibility testing indicates that E. coli exhibited resistance to aminoglycosides, β-lactam, macrolides, fluoroquinolones, and sulfonamides. In this study, resistance genes including KdpE, aadA5, APH(3 ")-ID, APH(6)-ID, and TEM-1 were identified, and their expression levels varied across different stages of bacterial growth. The results of virulence analysis indicated a mortality rate of 50% in mice infected with E. coli at a concentration of 2.985 × 10 7 CFU/mL. E. coli infection resulted in damage to various tissues and organs in mice, with the intestinal tissue structure being the most severely affected. Heavy metals interact with each other in a coexisting manner to produce complex combined toxicity to organisms. At present, the toxic effects of chronic co-exposure to heavy metals hexavalent chromium [Cr(VI)] and divalent nickel [Ni(II)] on organisms are seldom studied and the related mechanisms are poorly understood. In this study, we explored the mechanism of the colon injury in mice caused by chronic exposure to Cr or/and Ni. The results showed that, compared with the control group, Cr or/and Ni chronic exposure affected the body weight of mice, and led to infiltration of inflammatory cells in the colon, decreased the number of goblet cells, fusion of intracellular mucus particles and damaged cell structure of intestinal epithelial. In the Cr or/and Ni exposure group, the activity of nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) increased, the expression levels of MUC2 were significantly down-regulated, and those of ZO-1 and Occludin were significantly up-regulated. Interestingly, factorial analysis revealed an interaction between Cr and Ni, which was manifested as antagonistic effects on iNOS activity, ZO-1 and MUC2 mRNA expression levels. Transcriptome sequencing further revealed that the expression of genes-related to inflammation, intestinal mucus and tight junctions changed obviously. Moreover, the relative contents of Cr(VI) and Ni(II) in the Cr, Ni and Cr+Ni groups all changed with in-vitro gastrointestinal （IVG）digestion, especially in the Cr+Ni group. The in-situ high-frequency monitoring of total nitrogen (TN) and total phosphorus (TP) in rivers is a challenge and key to instant water quality judgment and early warning. Based on the physical and chemical association between TN/TP and sensor-measurable predictors, we proposed a novel "indirect" measurement method for TN and TP in rivers. This method combines the timeliness of multi-sensor and the accuracy of intelligent algorithms, utilizing 188,629 data sets from 131 water monitoring stations across China. Under 5 algorithms and 4 predictor group scenarios, the results showed that: (1) extra tree regression (ETR) with 6 predictors exhibited the best precision, and the mean determination coefficient (R 2 ) of TN and TP inversion across 131 stations reached 0.78 ± 0.25 and 0.79 ± 0.22 respectively; (2) among 6 potential predictors, the importance degrees of temperature, electrical conductivity, NH 4 -N, and turbidity were greater than that of pH and DO, and >80 % of stations exhibited acceptable prediction accuracy (R 2  > 0.6) when the number of predictors (P) ranged from 4 to 6, which showed good tolerability to predictor variations; (3) the accurate classification rates of water quality standard (ACR ws ) of all stations based on TN and TP reached 90.41 ± 6.96 % and 92.33 ± 6.41 %; (4) in 9 regions/basins of China, this method showed universal application potential with no significant prediction difference. Compared with laboratory test, water quality automatic monitoring station, and remote sensing inversion, the proposed method offers high-frequency, high-precision, regional adaptability, low cost, and stable operation under rainy, cloudy, and nighttime conditions. Backgrounds: The functional recovery after peripheral nerve injury remains unsatisfactory. This study aims to perform a comprehensive evaluation of the efficacy of Fasudil Hydrochloride at treating the sciatic nerve transection injury in rats and the mechanism involved., Materials and Methods: In animal experiments, 75 Sprague Dawley rats that underwent transection and repair of the right sciatic nerve were divided into a control, Fasudil, and Fas + LY group, receiving daily intraperitoneal injection of saline, Fasudil Hydrochloride (10 mg/kg), and Fasudil Hydrochloride plus LY294002 (5 mg/kg), respectively. At day 3 after surgery, the expression of ROCK2, p-PI3K, and p-AKT in L 4-5 DRG and the lumbosacral enlargement was determined using Western blotting. At day 7 and 14, axon density in the distal stump was evaluated with immunostaining using the anti-Neurofilament-200 antibody. At day 30, retrograde tracing by injecting Fluoro-gold in the distal stump was performed. Three months after surgery, remyelination was analyzed with immostaining using the anti-MPZ antibody and the transmission electron microscope; Moreover, Motion-Evoked Potential, and recovery of sensorimotor functions was evaluated with a neuromonitor, Footprint, Hot Plate and Von Frey Filaments, respectively. Moveover, the Gastrocnemius muscles were weighed, and then underwent H＆E staining, and staining of the neuromuscular junction using α-Bungarotoxin to evaluate the extent of atrophy and degeneration of the endplates in the Gastrocnemius. In vitro, spinal motor neurons (SMNs) and dorsal root ganglia (DRG) were cultured to examine the impact of Fasudil Hydrochloride and LY294002 on the axon outgrowth., Results: Three days after injury, the expression of ROCK2 increased significantly (P＜0.01), and Fasudil application significantly increased the expression of p-PI3K and p-AKT in L 4-6 DRG and the lumbosacral enlargement (P < 0.05). At day 7 and 14 after surgery, a higher axon density could be observed in the Fasudil group(P < 0.05). At day 30 after surgery, a larger number of motor and sensory neurons absorbing Fluoro-gold could be observed in the Fasudil group (P < 0.01) Three months after surgery, a greater thickness of myelin sheath could be observed in the Fasudil group (P < 0.05). The electrophysiological test showed that a larger amplitude of motion-evoked potential could be triggered in the Fasudil group (P < 0.01). Behavioral tests showed that a higher sciatic function index and a lower threshold for reacting to heat and mechanical stimuli could be measured in the Fasudil group. (P < 0.01). The wet weight ratio of the Gastrocnemius muscles and the area of the cross section of its myofibrils were greater in the Fasudil group (P < 0.01), which also demonstrated a higer ratio of axon-endplate connection and a larger size of endplates (P < 0.05). And there were no significant differences for the abovementioned parameters between the control and Fas + LY groups (P＞0.05). This study carried out the atmospheric and precipitation observation in Beijing for nearly one year, and firstly simultaneously observed the pollution characteristics of PFASs and their main isomers, focusing on their gas-particle partitioning mechanism and dry and wet deposition characteristics. After deducting PFASs in the aqueous phase of particulate matter, the gas-particle partitioning coefficients (-7.04 to -5.49) were about 3-4 units smaller than before (-2.77 to -1.51), and all were smaller than 0, which indicated that each PFAS and isomer were more distributed in the gas phase. Dry deposition was dominant in the atmospheric deposition of each PFAS and isomer with relative contribution of 66 ± 17%, but the relative contribution of dry deposition was significantly different. It was found that the gas-particle partitioning coefficient can be influenced by key chemical structures such as carbon chain length, functional group type, and isomer structure. Furthermore, the gas-particle partitioning can influence the dry and wet deposition of PFASs. The facultative intracellular bacterium Listeria (L.) monocytogenes may cause severe diseases in humans and animals. The control of listeriosis/L. monocytogenes requires the concerted action of cells of the innate and adaptive immune systems. In this regard, cell-intrinsic immunity of infected cells, activated by the immune responses, is crucial for the control and elimination intracellular L. monocytogenes. Both the immune response against L. monocytogenes and cell intrinsic pathogen control are critically regulated by post-translational modifications exerted by the host ubiquitin system and ubiquitin-like modifiers (Ubls). The development of novel topoisomerase I (TOP1) inhibitors is crucial for overcoming the drawbacks and limitations of current TOP1 poisons. Here, we identified two potential TOP1 inhibitors, namely, FTY720 (a sphingosine 1-phosphate antagonist) and COH29 (a ribonucleotide reductase inhibitor), through experimental screening of known active compounds. Biological experiments verified that FTY720 and COH29 were nonintercalative TOP1 catalytic inhibitors that did not induce the formation of DNA-TOP1 covalent complexes. Molecular docking revealed that FTY720 and COH29 interacted favorably with TOP1. Molecular dynamics simulations revealed that FTY720 and COH29 could affect the catalytic domain of TOP1, thus resulting in altered DNA-binding cavity size. The alanine scanning and interaction entropy identified Arg536 as a hotspot residue. In addition, the bioinformatics analysis predicted that FTY720 and COH29 could be effective in treating malignant breast tumors. Biological experiments verified their antitumor activities using MCF-7 breast cancer cells. Their combinatory effects with TOP1 poisons were also investigated. Further, FTY720 and COH29 were found to cause less DNA damage compared with TOP1 poisons. This study was conducted to examine how colostrum pasteurization affects resistance genes and microbial communities in calf feces. Forty female Holstein calves were randomly assigned to either the control (CON) group, which received unheated colostrum, or the pasteurized colostrum (PAT) group. The calves body weight was measured weekly before morning feeding. Calf starter intake were measured and recorded daily before morning feeding. Samples of colostrum were collected before feeding. Blood was collected on d 1 and 70 before morning feeding. Ten calves were randomly selected from each group (n = 20 calves total) for fecal sampling on d 3, 28, 56 and 70 for subsequent DNA extraction and metagenomic sequencing. Total bacterial counts in the colostrum were markedly higher in the CON group than in the PAT group. Pasteurized colostrum administration substantially reduced the ARO diversity and diminishes the abundance of Enterobacteriaceae, thereby decreasing their contribution to resistance genes. Pasteurization also reduced glucoside hydrolase-66 activity in 3-day-old calves which led to an increase in the activity of aminoglycoside antibiotics, resulting in 52.63 % of PAT-enriched bacteria acquiring aminoglycoside resistance genes. However, from the perspective of overall microbial community, the proportion of aminoglycoside, beta-lactam and tetracycline resistance genes carried by microbial community in PAT group was lower than CON group (P < 0.05). Fecal samples from the PAT group contained greater abundances of Subdoligranulum (P < 0.05) and Lachnospiraceae&#95;NK4A136&#95;group (P < 0.05) on days 28 and 70 compared to CON. Network analysis and abundance variations of the different bacteria obtained by linear discriminant analysis effect size analysis showed that pasteurized colostrum feeding reduced the interactions among related bacteria and maintained stability of the hind-gut microbiome. Background and Aims: Pulpitis, a pulp disease caused by caries, trauma, and other factors, has a high clinical incidence. This study focused on identifying possible metabolic biomarkers of pulpitis cases and analyzing the related metabolic pathways for providing a theoretical foundation to diagnose and prevent pulpitis., Materials and Methods: Pulp samples from 20 pulpitis cases together with 20 normal participants were analyzed with a serum metabolomics approach using ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography (UPLC)/Orbitrap mass spectrometry. Moreover, this work carried out multivariate statistical analysis for screening potential biomarkers of pulpitis., Results: Through biomarker analysis and identification, such as partial least squares discrimination analysis, orthogonal partial least squares discriminant analysis model establishment, correlation analysis, and biomarker pathway analysis, 40 biomarkers associated with 20 metabolic pathways were identified, including 20 upregulated and 20 downregulated metabolites. Porous organic polymers (POPs) present superior adsorption performance to steroid endocrine disruptors. However, the effective recovery and high cost have been a big limitation for their large-scale applications. Herein, magnetic azo-linked porous polymers (Fe 3 O 4 @SiO 2 /ALP-p) were designed and prepared in a green synthesis approach using low-price materials from phloroglucinol and pararosaniline via a diazo-coupling reaction under standard temperature and pressure conditions, which embedded with Fe 3 O 4 @SiO 2 nanoparticles to form three-dimensional interlayer network structure with flexible-rigid interweaving. The saturated adsorption capacity to bisphenol-A (BPA) was 485.09 mg/g at 298 K, which increased by 1.4 times compared with ALP-p of relatively smaller mass density. This enhanced adsorption was ascribed to increment from surface adsorption and pore filling with 2.3 times of specific surface area and 2.6 times of pore volume, although the total organic functional groups decreased with Fe 3 O 4 @SiO 2 amendment. Also, the adsorption rate increased by about 1.1 and 1.5-fold due to enhancement in the initial stage of surface adsorption and subsequent stage pore diffusion, respectively. Moreover, this adsorbent could be used in broad pH (3.0-7.0) and salinity adaptability (<0.5 mol/L). The loss of adsorption capacity and magnetic recovery were lower than 1.1% and 0.8% in each operation cycle because of the flexible-rigid interweave. This excellent performance was contributed by synergistic effects from physisorption and chemisorption, such as pore filling, electrostatic attraction, π-π stacking, hydrogen bonding, and hydrophobic interaction. Pulmonary artery remodeling is a characteristic feature of broiler ascites syndrome (BAS). Pulmonary artery endothelial cells (PAECs) regulated by HIF-1α play a critical role in pulmonary artery remodeling, but the underlying mechanisms of HIF-1α in BAS remain unclear. In this experiment, primary PAECs were cultured in vitro and were identified by coagulation factor VIII. After hypoxia and RNA interference, the mRNA and protein expression levels of HIF-1α and VEGF were determined by qPCR and Western blotting. The transcriptome profiles of PAECs were obtained by RNA sequencing. Our results showed that the positive rate of PAECs was more than 90%, hypoxia-induced promoted the proliferation and apoptosis of PAECs, and RNA interference significantly downregulated the expression of HIF-1α, inhibited the proliferation of PAECs, and promoted the apoptosis of PAECs. In addition, transcriptome sequencing analysis indicated that HIF-1α may regulate broiler ascites syndrome by mediating COL4A, vitronectin, vWF, ITGα8, and MKP-5 in the ECM, CAMs and MAPK pathways in PAECs. This study aims to seek angiotensin-I-converting enzyme inhibitory (ACEi) peptides from walnut using different enzymatic hydrolysis, and further to validate the potent ACEi peptides identified and screened via peptidomics and in silico analysis against hypertension in spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHRs). Results showed that walnut protein hydrolysate (WPH) prepared by combination of alcalase and simulated gastrointestinal digestion exhibited high ACEi activity. WPH was separated via Sephadex-G25, and four peptides were identified, screened and verified based on their PeptideRanker score, structural characteristic and ACE inhibition. Interestingly, FDWLR showed the highest ACEi activity with IC 50 value of 8.02 μg/mL, which might be related to its close affinity with ACE observed in molecular docking. Subsequently, high absorption and non-toxicity of FDWLR was predicted via in silico absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion and toxicity. Endometritis is a disease caused by a postpartum bacterial infection with a poor prognosis that primarily affects dairy cows. Three-dimensional organoids have been used as a model for endometritis, because they exhibit a structure comparable to that of the endometrium, demonstrating both expansibility and hormone responsiveness. These characteristics render them an ideal platform for in vitro investigations of endometrial diseases. Estradiol (E2) is an endogenous steroid hormone with demonstrated anti-inflammatory properties, and the objective of this study was to determine the mechanism by which E2 modulates the inflammatory response and the Wnt signal transduction pathway in bovine endometrial epithelial cells and organoids following E. coli infection. We present the techniques for isolating and culturing primary bovine endometrial epithelial cells (BEECs), and producing endometrial organoids. For the experiments, the endometrial epithelial cells and organoids were infected with E. coli for 1 h, followed by incubation with E2 for 12 h. The mRNA and protein expressions of the inflammation-related genes, IL-1β, IL-6, TLR4, and NF-κB, as well as the Wnt pathway-related genes, Wnt4, β-catenin, c-Myc, and CyclinD1, were assessed using real-time quantitative-PCR and western blotting, respectively. The CCK8 viable cell counting assay was utilized to determine the optimal concentration of the Wnt inhibitor, IWR-1. The mRNA and protein expression of Wnt pathway-related genes was assessed following IWR-1 treatment, while the expression levels of proliferation-associated genes (Ki67, PCNA) and barrier repair genes (occludin, claudin, and Zo-1) in BEECs and organoids were evaluated after E2 treatment. The results of this study show that mRNA expression of the inflammatory genes, IL-1β, TLR4, and NF-κB (P < 0.05) decreased in BEECs following E2 treatment compared to the E. coli group. The protein expression of the IL-1β, IL-6, TLR4 and NF-κB genes was also inhibited (P < 0.05). Similar results were observed in tests on the organoids. Our findings demonstrate that E2 significantly upregulates the expression of Wnt-related genes, including β-catenin and c-Myc, while concurrently downregulating the expression of GSK3β (P < 0.05). Next, we treated E. coli-infected BEECs and organoids with the Wnt inhibitor, IWR-1. Compared with E. coli and E. coli + E2, the expression of mRNA and protein from Wnt 4, β-catenin, and CyclinD1 in E. coli + E2 and E. coli + IWR-1 was down-regulated (P < 0.05). The expression of the proliferation genes, Ki67, PCNA, and the tight junction genes, occludin, claudin1, and Zo-1, in organoids was significantly higher than that in BEECs (P < 0.05). In summary, we found strong potential for E2 mitigation of the E. coli-induced inflammatory response in BEECs and organoids, through activation of the Wnt pathway. The ectonucleotidase CD39 has been regarded as a promising immune checkpoint in solid tumors. However, the expression of CD39 by tumor-infiltrating CD8 + T cells as well as their potential roles and clinical implications in human gastric cancer (GC) remain largely unknown. Here, we found that GC-infiltrating CD8 + T cells contained a fraction of CD39 hi cells that constituted about 6.6% of total CD8 + T cells in tumors. These CD39 hi cells enriched for GC-infiltrating CD8 + T cells with features of exhaustion in transcriptional, phenotypic, metabolic and functional profiles. Additionally, GC-infiltrating CD39 hi CD8 + T cells were also identified for tumor-reactive T cells, as these cells expanded in vitro were able to recognize autologous tumor organoids and induced more tumor cell apoptosis than those of expanded their CD39 int and CD39 - CD8 + counterparts. Furthermore, CD39 enzymatic activity controlled GC-infiltrating CD39 hi CD8 + T cell effector function, and blockade of CD39 efficiently enhanced their production of cytokines IFN-γ and TNF-α. Finally, high percentages of GC-infiltrating CD39 hi CD8 + T cells correlated with tumor progression and independently predicted patients' poor overall survival. In this study, dialdehyde carboxymethyl cellulose (DCMC, 10 wt% based on gelatin) and varying contents of coffee leaf extract (CLE, 1, 3, 5 and 7 wt% based on gelatin) were incorporated into gelatin (GEL) matrix to develop multifunctional food packaging films. DCMC acted as a physical reinforcing filler through crosslinking with GEL matrix by Schiff-base reaction, CLE served as an active filler to confer film functional properties. The micro-morphology, micro-structure, physicochemical and functional properties of the GEL/DCMC/CLE composite film were investigated. The results demonstrated that mechanical, barrier properties and thermal stability of films were significantly improved by incorporation of CLE. Compared with pure GEL film, the GEL/DCMC/5%CLE film exhibited excellent UV light blocking while kept enough transparency, the best mechanical property, water resistance, water vapor and oxygen barrier, as well as thermal stability. GEL/DCMC/5%CLE film also possessed strong antioxidant activity and some antibacterial activity against E. coli and S. aureus. Objectives: Hip fractures are a significant cause of mortality among older adults. However, predictive markers for an unfavorable prognosis are still lacking. Serum calcium is an essential element in several biochemical reactions in the body. This study investigated the role of the preoperative serum calcium level as a prognostic parameter for postoperative mortality in older adult patients with hip fractures., Design: We conducted a prospective cohort study at the trauma center in our hospital, from January 1, 2015, to September 30, 2019. A total of 2333 older patients with hip fractures were recruited. This prospective cohort study was conducted in accordance with the criteria of STROCSS., Setting and Participants: Older adult patients with hip fractures were screened between January 2015 and September 2019 at the trauma center of our hospital., Methods: Demographic and clinical characteristics of the patients were collected. Linear and nonlinear multivariate Cox regression models were used to identify the association between preoperative serum calcium level and all-cause mortality. All analyses were performed using EmpowerStats and the R software., Results: A total of 2333 older adult patients with hip fractures were included in the study. The mean follow-up was 37.5 months. Overall, 770 patients (33%) died of all causes. The preoperative serum calcium concentrations were 2.18 ± 0.13 mmol/L. Linear multivariate Cox regression models showed that preoperative serum calcium levels were associated with mortality [hazard ratio (HR) 0.37, 95% CI 0.21-0.67; P = .0009] after adjusting for confounders. However, the linear association was unstable, and nonlinearity was identified. A preoperative serum calcium level of 2.3 mmol/L was an inflection point for prediction. When the preoperative serum calcium concentration was below 2.3 mmol/L, serum calcium concentration increased by 1 mmol/L, and mortality risk decreased by 77% (HR 0.23, 95% CI 0.13-0.43, P < .0001). Fatty liver hemorrhagic syndrome (FLHS) is a prevalent metabolic disorder observed in egg-laying hens, characterized by fatty deposits and cellular steatosis in the liver. Our preliminary investigations have revealed a marked decrease in the concentration of butyric acid in the FLHS strain of laying hens. It has been established that sodium butyrate (NaB) protects against metabolic disorders. However, the underlying mechanism by which butyrate modulates hepato-lipid metabolism to a great extent remains unexplored. In this study, we constructed an isolated in vitro model of chicken primary hepatocytes to induce hepatic steatosis by free fatty acids (FFA). Our results demonstrate that treatment with NaB effectively mitigated FFA-induced hepatic steatosis in chicken hepatocytes by inhibiting lipid accumulation, downregulating the mRNA expression of lipo-synthesis-related genes (sterol regulatory element binding transcription factor 1 (SREBF1), acetyl-CoA carboxylase 1(ACC1), fatty acid synthase (FASN), stearoyl-CoA desaturase 1 (SCD1), liver X receptor α (LXRα), 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-CoA reductase (HMGR)) (P < 0.05), and upregulating the mRNA and protein expression of AMP-activated protein kinase α1 (AMPKα1), peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor α (PPARα), and carnitine palmitoyl-transferase 1A (CPT1A) (P < 0.05). Moreover, AMPK and PPARα inhibitors (Compound C (Comp C) and GW6471, respectively) reversed the protective effects of NaB against FFA-induced hepatic steatosis by blocking the AMPK/PPARα pathway, leading to lipid droplet accumulation and triglyceride (TG) contents in chicken primary hepatocytes. To reveal the impact of chlorination on the high-risk resistome in size-fractionated bacterial community, we employed metagenomic approaches to decipher dynamics of high-risk antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) and driving mechanisms in the free-living and particle-associated fractions within a full-scale drinking water treatment system. Our results revealed that chlorination significantly increased the relative abundance of high-risk ARGs in the free-living fraction to 0.33 ± 0.005 copies/cell (cpc), bacitracin and chloramphenicol resistance types were major contributors. Furthermore, chlorination significantly increased the relative abundance of mobile genetic elements (MGEs) in the free-living fraction, while decreasing it in the particle-associated fraction. During chlorination, size-fractionated bacterial communities varied considerably. Multiple statistical analyses highlighted the pivotal role of the bacterial community in altering high-risk ARGs in both the free-living and particle-associated fractions, while MGEs had a more pronounced impact on high-risk ARGs in the free-living fraction. Specifically, the enrichment of pathogenic hosts, such as Comamonas and Pseudomonas, led to an increase in the abundance of high-risk ARGs. Concurrently, MGEs exhibited significant correlations with high-risk ARGs, indicating the potential of horizontal transfer of high-risk ARGs. The pollution and toxic effects of hexavalent chromium [Cr(VI)] and divalent nickel [Ni(II)] have become worldwide public health issues. However, the potential detailed effects of chronic combined Cr(VI) and Ni exposure on colonic inflammation in mice have not been reported. In this study, 16S rDNA sequencing, metabolomics data analysis, qPCR and other related experimental techniques were used to comprehensively explore the mechanism of toxic damage and the inflammatory response of the colon in mice under the co-toxicity of chronic hexavalent chromium and nickel. The results showed that long-term exposure to Cr(VI) and/or Ni resulted in an imbalance of trace elements in the colon of mice with significant inflammatory infiltration of tissues. Moreover, Cr(VI) and/or Ni poisoning upregulated the expression levels of IL-6, IL-18, IL-1β, TNF-α, IFN-γ, JAK2 and STAT3 mRNA, and downregulated IL-10 mRNA, which was highly consistent with the trend in protein expression. Combined with multiomics analysis, Cr(VI) and/or Ni could change the α diversity and β diversity of the gut microbiota and induce significant differential changes in metabolites such as Pyroglu-Glu-Lys, Val-Asp-Arg, stearidonic acid, and 20-hydroxyarachidonic acid. They are also associated with disorders of important metabolic pathways such as lipid metabolism and amino acid metabolism. Correlation analysis revealed that there was a significant correlation between gut microbes and metabolites (P < 0.05). In summary, based on the advantages of comprehensive analysis of high-throughput sequencing sets, these results suggest that chronic exposure to Cr(VI) and Ni in combination can cause microbial flora imbalances, induce metabolic disorders, and subsequently cause colonic damage in mice. The simultaneous sensing and remediation of multiple heavy metal ions in wastewater or soil with microorganisms is currently a significant challenge. In this study, the microorganism Bacillus subtilis was used as a chassis organism to construct two genetic circuits for sensing and adsorbing heavy-metal ions. The engineered biosensor can sense three heavy metal ions (0.1-75 μM of Pb 2+ and Cu 2+ , 0.01-3.5 μM of Hg 2+ ) in situ real-time with high sensitivity. The engineered B. subtilis TasA-metallothionein (TasA-MT) biofilm can specifically adsorb metal ions from the environment, exhibiting remarkable removal efficiencies of 99.5% for Pb 2+ , 99.9% for Hg 2+ and 99.5% for Cu 2+ in water. Furthermore, this engineered strain (as a biosensor and absorber of Pb 2+ , Cu 2+ , and Hg 2+ ) was incubated with biochar to form a hybrid biofilm@biochar (BBC) material that could be applied in the bioremediation of heavy metal ions. The results showed that BBC material not only significantly reduced exchangeable Pb 2+ in the soil but also reduced Pb 2+ accumulation in maize plants. In addition, it enhanced maize growth and biomass. Disruption of intervertebral disc (IVD) homeostasis caused by oxidative stress and nucleus pulposus cell (NPC) senescence is a main cause of intervertebral disc degeneration (IDD). The sonic hedgehog (Shh) pathway plays an important role in IVD development, but its roles in IDD are unknown. This study aimed to investigate the effects of the Shh pathway on the alleviation of IDD and the related mechanisms. In vivo, the effect of the Shh pathway on IVD homeostasis was studied by intraperitoneal injection of recombinant Shh (rShh) and GANT61 based on puncture-induced IDD. GANT61, lentivirus-coated sh-Gli1 and rShh were used to investigate the role and mechanism of the Shh pathway in NPCs based on senescence induced by Braco19 and oxidative stress induced by TBHP. Shh pathway expression decreased, and senescence and oxidative stress increased with age. Intraperitoneal injection of rShh activated the Shh pathway to suppress oxidative stress and NPC senescence and consequently alleviated needle puncture-induced IDD. In vitro, the Shh pathway upregulated glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPX4) expression to suppress oxidative stress and senescence in NPCs. Moreover, GPX4 suppression in NPCs by si-GPX4 significantly reduced the protective effect of the Shh pathway on oxidative stress and senescence in NPCs. Our results demonstrate for the first time that the Shh pathway plays a key role in the alleviation of IDD by suppressing oxidative stress and cell senescence in NP tissues. The effective delivery and targeted release of drugs within tumor cells are critical factors in determining the therapeutic efficacy of nanomedicine. To achieve this objective, a conjugate of maltose (Mal) and bovine serum albumin (BSA) was synthesized by the Maillard reaction and self-assembled into nanoparticles with active-targeting capabilities upon pH/heating induction. This nanoparticle could be effectively loaded with doxorubicin (DOX) to form stable nanodrugs (Mal-BSA/DOX) that were sensitive to low pH or high glutathione (GSH), thereby achieving a rapid drug release (96.82 % within 24 h). In vitro cell experiments indicated that maltose-modified BSA particles efficiently enhance cellular internalization via glucose transporters (GLUT)-mediated endocytosis, resulting in increased intracellular DOX levels and heightened expression of γ-H2AX. Consequently, these results ultimately lead to selective tumor cells death, as evidenced by an IC 50 value of 3.83 μg/mL in HepG2 cells compared to 5.87 μg/mL in 293t cells. The efficacy of Mal-BSA/DOX in tumor targeting therapy has been further confirmed by in vivo studies, as it effectively delivered a higher concentration of DOX to tumor tissue. This targeted delivery approach not only reduces the systemic toxicity of DOX but also effectively inhibits tumor growth (TGI, 75.95 %). Di(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate (DEHP), as an environmental endocrine disruptor, has adverse effects on eco-environments and health. Thus, it is crucial to highly sensitive on-site detect DEHP. Herein, a double-enzyme active MnO 2 @BSA mediated dual-modality photoelectrochemical (PEC)/colorimetric aptasensing platform with the cascaded sensitization structures of ZnIn 2 S 4 and TiO 2 as signal generators was engineered for rapid and ultrasensitive detection of DEHP using an all-in-one lab-on-paper analytical device. Benefitting from cascaded sensitization effect, the ZnIn 2 S 4 /TiO 2 photosensitive structures-assembled polypyrrole paper electrode gave an enhanced photocurrent signal. The MnO 2 @BSA nanoparticles (NPs) with peroxidase-mimic and oxidase-mimic double-enzymatic activity induced multiple signal quenching effects and catalyzed color development. Specifically, the MnO 2 @BSA NPs acted as peroxidase mimetics to generate catalytic precipitates, which not only obstructed interfacial electron transfer but also served as electron acceptors to accept photogenerated electrons. Besides, the steric hindrance effect from MnO 2 @BSA NPs-loaded branchy polymeric DNA duplex structures further decreased photocurrent signal. The target recycling reaction caused the detachment of MnO 2 @BSA NPs to increase PEC signal, realizing the ultrasensitive detection of DEHP with a low detection limit of 27 fM. Ingeniously, the freed MnO 2 @BSA NPs flowed to colorimetric zone with the aid of fluid channels and acted as oxidase mimetics to induce color intensity enhancement, resulting in the rapid visual detection of DEHP. The coal-to-natural gas project alleviates the shortage of natural gas in China by using the abundant coal resources, but it has the problems of single product and poor ability to deal with risks. The coal to synthetic natural gas (SNG)/methanol polygeneration process can solve this by coproducing chemicals and have the advantages of high economic benefit and energy saving. The impact of polygeneration process design on carbon emission reduction is still the key issue to be solved urgently. Therefore, for the coal-to-SNG/methanol polygeneration process, this paper explores the interactions between the polygeneration process design and carbon emissions by using life-cycle assessment method, and evaluates the environmental impact potential of the process. The fluctuations of industrial parameters are also simulated using Monte Carlo analysis, and most of the results are concentrated at ±6.5 %, which verifies the reasonableness of the results. And the carbon emission reduction effect of the polygeneration process is examined by comparing with coal-to-gas and coal-to-methanol processes. Background: Colorectal neuroendocrine carcinoma is a relatively rare tumor, for which a prognosis prediction model is lacking. Based on the data from Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database and Fujian Cancer Hospital, the study constructed and validated a prognostic nomogram to assess overall survival of patients with colorectal neuroendocrine carcinoma(CRNEC)., Methods: We extracted data of patients diagnosed with CRNEC from the SEER database. These patients were randomly divided into a training cohort(N = 1425) and an internal validation cohort(N = 612). Data of patients diagnosed with CRNEC in Fujian Cancer Hospital was collected as an external validation cohort(N = 54). A prognostic nomogram was established. The performance of the nomogram was assessed with ROC curve, C-index and calibration curve. Decision curve analysis(DCA) and ROC curve were used to compare the prediction efficacy of nomogram with the seventh edition of the TNM classification of the American Joint Commission of Cancer., Results: Nine variables were identified as independent predictors. Nomogram were established by the nine variables. AUC of the nomogram in predicting 1-, 3- and 5-year OS were 0.900, 0.912 and 0.915 in training cohort, 0.900, 0.925 and 0.919 in internal validation cohort, 0.900, 0.903 and 0.928 in external validation cohort. C-index were 0.845, 0.854 and 0.837. Calibration curves overlapped well with reference lines. Compared with the AJCC TNM staging system, the nomogram performed more effectively. A comprehensive understanding of nutrient transport patterns and clarification of pollutant sources' load contributions are critical prerequisites for developing scientific pollution control strategies in complex river basins. Here, we focused on the Minjiang River Basin (MRB) and employed the Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) model to systematically investigate the nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) loads from both point and non-point sources. Results revealed that the key source areas of N and P pollution in the MRB were predominantly located along the riverbanks, influenced by a combination of sediment, precipitation, agricultural activities such as fertilization. Our analysis indicated that soil nutrient loss, fertilization, and livestock farming were the major contributors to N and P inputs, accounting for over 70 % of the total input, followed by rural residential and urban point sources. Based on the identification of non-point source pollution as the primary load source, a multi-objective optimization was conducted using response surface methodology (RSM) coupled with the non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm-II (NSGA-II), resulting in the identification of optimal best management practices (BMPs) that achieve a reduction of 40.04 % in N load, 39.22 % in P load, and a net economic benefit of -1.13 billion yuan per year. Compared to the RSM and automated optimization results, the proposed management measures exhibited significant improvements in N and P load reduction and net benefits. In the paper, Nisin was grafted onto native pectin by the 1-ethyl-(3-dimethylaminopropyl) carbodiimide hydrochloride (EDC·HCl) method. Structure characterisation showed that the carboxyl group of pectin interacted with the amino group of Nisin and formed an amide bond. The highest grafting ratio of the modified pectin was up to 24.89 %. The emulsifying property of modified pectin, significantly improved, and emulsification performance improved with increasing grafting ratio. Emulsifying activity, emulsion stability, Zeta potential, and droplet morphology data demonstrate a notable enhancement in pectin's emulsifying properties due to Nisin's introduction, with the degree of grafting showing a direct correlation with the improvement observed. Pectin-based emulsion is utilized to load curcumin, enhancing its stability and bioavailability. Research findings highlight that the incorporation of Nisin-modified pectin significantly elevates curcumin encapsulation efficiency, while decelerating its release rate. Moreover, the stability of curcumin loaded in the modified pectin under light exposure, alkaline conditions, and long-term storage is also significantly improved. Objectives: The global prevalence of osteoporosis is rising, yet it is unclear whether people with osteoporosis have a higher risk of depression than those without osteoporosis., Study Design: A cross-sectional study., Methods: We used nationally representative data from the US National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) in 2005-2006, 2007-2008, 2009-2010, 2013-2014, and 2017-2020. The diagnosis of osteoporosis was based on the bone mineral density of the femoral neck measured by dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry. Depression was assessed by the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9), with a score ≥5 as depressive symptoms and a score ≥10 as probable depression. We used logistic regression models to evaluate the association between osteoporosis and depressive symptoms and probable depression., Results: We included 11,603 adults (aged 50 years and older, 52.3% male) and observed 5.2% of them had osteoporosis. 31.9% of these osteoporotic people had depressive symptoms, and 10.0% had probable depression. Compared to participants without osteoporosis, those with osteoporosis were 1.73 times more likely to experience depressive symptoms (odds ratio [OR] = 1.73, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.20-2.50) and 1.91 times more likely to experience probable depression (OR = 1.91, 95% CI 1.02-3.59), after adjusting for sex, age, race/ethnicity, education, marital status, family income, body mass index, smoking, physical activity, and alcohol abuse. Moderate-to-vigorous activities mediated the associations between osteoporosis and depression and depressive symptoms., Conclusions: Osteoporosis is an independent risk factor for depression. Bis (2-ethylhexyl) tetrabromophthalate (TBPH) is a new type of brominated flame retardant. Some studies suggest that TBPH exposure may be associated with thyroid damage. However, there is a paucity of research on the authentic exposure-related effects and molecular mechanisms in animals or cells. In this study, we used male Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats and the Nthy ori3-1 cell line (the human thyroid follicular epithelial cell) to explore the potential effects of TBPH (5, 50, 500 mg/kg and 1, 10, 100 nM) on the thyroid. The genes and their proteins of cytokines and thyroid-specific proteins, thyroglobulin (TG), thyroid peroxidase (TPO), and sodium iodide cotransporter (NIS) were examined to investigate the possible mechanisms. At the end of the experiment, it was found that 50 and 500 mg/kg TBPH could increase the levels of total thyroxine (TT4) and free thyroxine (FT4) significantly. The messenger RNAs (mRNAs) of Tg, Tpo, Interleukin-6 (Il6), and Interleukin-10 (Il10) in the thyroid tissues from the rats treated with 500 mg/kg were enhanced clearly. Meanwhile, the mRNAs of TG, TPO, IL6, and IL10 were elevated in Nthy ori3-1 cells treated with 100 nM TBPH as well. The mRNAs of TG and TPO were elevated after the knockdown of IL6. To our surprise, after the knockdown of IL10 or the treatment of anti-IL-10-receptor (anti-IL-10-R) antibody, the mRNAs of TG and TPO were significantly reduced, and the effects of TBPH were diminished. Airborne particles can spread quickly and enter human respiratory system via inhalation, causing chronic diseases, even cancer. Although recent studies have informed of toxicity of various pollutants, understanding the transport and deposition characteristics of particles in lower respiratory tract is still challenging. The current study proposes a novel model to simulate flow field change from the entrance of lower respiratory tract to pulmonary acinus, while studying particle transport and deposition characteristics. This model for lower respiratory tract with several bronchial extensions containing virtual pulmonary acinus is calculated using computational fluid dynamics and dynamics mesh. The results showed that in the first 10 generations of the lower respiratory tract, vortices and gravity interfered with particles' trajectory, affecting particle deposition distribution. For the first to the tenth-generation respiratory tract, coarse particles were deposited throughout almost the whole respiratory tract model. In contrast, ultrafine particles did not deposit in the higher-generation respiratory tract. The particle enrichment ability of various lobes was uneven with three particle deposition fraction variation patterns. Virtual pulmonary acinus influenced particle deposition and distribution because of vortex ring's trapped ability during expansion and contraction. Background and Aims: Little research have focused on the relationship between systemic oxidative stress status and NAFLD and fibrosis. The Oxidative Balance Score (OBS) is employed to evaluate whole-body lifestyle and diet exposures related to oxidative stress, with higher OBS scores implying exposure to more antioxidants. This study aimed to explore whether OBS is correlated with NAFLD and NAFLD-related fibrosis., Methods and Results: 12,223 participants from NHANES 2003-2018 were enrolled in this study. NAFLD was defined as USFLI ≥30 and liver fibrosis was determined as FIB-4 ≥ 2.67. OBS was scored by 20 lifestyle and dietary factors. Weighted logistic regression and restricted cubic splines were used to assess the association between OBS and NAFLD and fibrosis. The prevalence of NAFLD was 29.67%. There was a significant negative correlation between OBS, dietary OBS, lifestyle OBS and NAFLD and no correlation with NAFLD-related fibrosis. Compared to the lowest quartile, the adjusted ORs for the highest quartile of OBS, lifestyle OBS, dietary OBS and NAFLD were 0.55(95%CI:0.35,0.85), 0.12(95%CI:0.08,0.16), 0.70(95%CI:0.52,0.94) respectively. In stratified analyses, lifestyle OBS was negatively associated with NAFLD across gender, dietary OBS was only negatively correlated with NAFLD in men, and any OBS was not observed to be relevant to NAFLD-related fibrosis., Conclusions: OBS was negatively associated with NAFLD, but not with NAFLD-related fibrosis. Atlantification, known as impacts of high-latitude Atlantic water inflows on the Arctic Ocean has strengthened owing to climate change, corresponding to the rapid ice retreat in the Arctic. The relationship between phytoplankton and environmental changes in the Arctic on the interannual scale is unclear because of the lack of long-time series data. In this study, we discuss the ecological response to Atlantic water intrusion in the Kongsfjorden,Svalbard. We measured chlorophyll a and photosynthesis pigments for the water column samples from a fixed section along the Kongsfjorden to study the response of phytoplankton biomass and communities to Atlantic water intrusion in the summer season from 2007 to 2018. The results showed that dinoflagellates, prasinophytes, cryptophytes, and chlorophytes consistently accounted for over 50% of the total biomass, with the distinct annual variation of chlorophyll a. Bioavailable nitrogen was the main limiting factor on phytoplankton growth in the study area, as inferred by its concentration and nutrients ratios. The relationship between phytoplankton and water mass analysis suggested that the intrusion of Atlantic water in Kongsfjorden may cause interannual variability of the phytoplankton biomass and community structure by influencing the nutrient supply and water stratification in the fjord region. Nicotine is an addictive substance often found in tobacco and cigarette smoke and excessive exposure to it can cause various diseases. Herein, core-molecule-shell gold/4-aminothiophenol/silver nanorods (Au@PATP@Ag NRs) were prepared for quantitative detection of nicotine by using surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) technology. The obtained Au@PATP@Ag NRs showed an outstanding SERS effect due to the plasticity of their morphology and the bimetallic synergistic effect between the excellent stability of Au and the highly enhanced effect of Ag. The Au@PATP@Ag NRs substrate exhibited an extremely high enhancement factor (EF) of 2.17 × 10 7 . In addition, in-situ synthesized PATP was used as an internal standard to correct signal fluctuation and improve the reliability of quantitative nicotine detection. A wide linear dynamic range from 10 -8 to 10 -3  M was obtained and an ultra-low limit of detection (LOD) was about 3.12 × 10 -9  M, which was superior to most of previously reported methods. This work has also been used for determining nicotine content in cigarettes and simulated environmental tobacco smoke by using a portable device. Bisphenols (BPs) can negatively affect neurobehaviors in rats, whereas the mechanism remains unclear. Here, the mechanism of BPs-induced neurodevelopmental toxicity and its effective detoxification measures were investigated in vitro and in vivo. In in vitro experiments, primary hippocampal neurons from neonatal rats of different genders were treated with bisphenol A (BPA), bisphenol S (BPS) and bisphenol B (BPB) at 1 nM-100 μM, epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) and G15, an antagonist of G protein-coupled estrogen receptor (GPER) for 7 d. Results indicated that BPs affected neuronal morphogenesis, impaired GABA synthesis and Glu/GABA homeostasis. Neuronal morphogenetic damage induced by low-doses BPA may be mediated by GPER. Neurotoxicity of BPS is weaker than BPA and BPB. In in vivo studies, exposure to BPA (0.5 μg/kg·bw/day) on PND 10-40 caused oxidative stress and inflammation in rat hippocampus, disrupted neuronal morphogenesis and neurotransmitter homeostasis, ultimately impaired spatial memory of rats. Males are more sensitive to BPA exposure than females. Both in vivo and in vitro studies indicated that EGCG, a phytoestrogen, can alleviate BPA-induced neurotoxicity. Taken together, low-doses BPA exposure sex-specifically disrupted neurodevelopment and further impaired learning and memory ability in rats, which may be mediated by GPER.
