Bone tumor is a rare heterogeneous malignancy. Osteosarcoma is the most common bone tumor with no apparent underlying pathogenesis, and its peak incidence often occurs during puberty. The intensive application of chemotherapy rarely alters the poor prognosis of the patients in advanced stage. Despite intensive chemotherapy in clinical practice, patients still suffer from the poor prognosis, or even progression of bone tumor. We identified integrin-associated protein (IAP) Cluster of Differentiation 47 (CD47) as a target for monoclonal antibody, and use anti-CD47 antibody to block its expression in bone tumors. CD47 was highly expressed in the bone tumor rats when comparing to the healthy rats. Likewise, Western blotting assay revealed a higher protein expression of CD47 in the bone tumor cells when compared to the normal osteoblasts. Further studies have shown the association between the mRNA expression of CD47 and the disordered bone tumors development and decreased rate of overall survival of diseased rats. In addition, blocking the CD47 monoclonal antibody has been shown to drive macrophages to engulf bone tumor cells in vitro and thus inhibiting tumor metastasis in rats. Taken together, the results of this study suggested that CD47 is a key regulator of bone tumor cell metastasis and that targeting inhibition of anti-CD47 may be a new immunotherapy for bone tumors. Abstract In contemporary architecture, the combination of utilizing passive ventilation and spray-based evaporative cooling technology has been proven to be very effective in improving the interior thermal climate of traditional construction, which has played an important role in advancing the development of green buildings. But the application of this technology in modern buildings has always been limited at best. With the advent of capillary action, a new evaporative cooling method combined with liquid window screen and passive lateral ventilation proposed in this paper, it becomes feasible to cool the air through a liquid capillary window screen, which was developed theoretically by drawing enthalpy diagram, calculating air enthalpy and CFD simulation, providing the theoretical basis and data to support the future advancement of this technology. Abstract In order to improve the operating condition in construction site of project personnel in central China and make qualitative and quantitative evaluations for the indoor thermal environment in the prefabricated house, this paper made periodical measurement for the indoor thermal environment in a double-deck prefabricated house in a construction site in Zhengzhou area in summer and winter, tested the thermal environment condition and analyzed the achievement scale of the thermal comfort level. And then this paper compared the test data and analyzed some influence factors of the indoor thermal environment in the prefabricated house, and found the reasons why the indoor thermal environment in the prefabricated house deteriorated, thereby established theoretic basic for the target optimization and energy-saving design of the prefabricated house in the future. Abstract The climate responsive strategies contained in traditional earth buildings can provide a theoretical basis for the development of sustainable buildings today. This study focuses on a qualitative analysis of cliff-side cave dwelling. The analysis shows that the climate responsive strategy mainly depends on the heavy envelope structure; Under the natural operation conditions, the indoor air temperature ranges from 10.9 °C to 14.6 °C in winter, 22.7 °C to 27.9°C in summer; the indoor air relative humidity varies from 26.8% to 58.7% in winter, 68.3% to 87.6% in summer. In this paper, the thermal performance of a sandwich ventilation wall was studied based on the hot and cold box. The model consists of two types of cover plates: wall thermal insulation set and non-set. We tested the surface temperature, air temperature and the heat flux density of air interlayer in three different forms of airflow within the wall. The experiment results show that introducing fresh air from the outside in cold areas in winter will not affect the thermal insulation performance of the wall if the hole openings are reasonably organized. Compared with the traditional exterior wall, the air flow rate and pressure increase in the structure of the air layer can improve the thermal performance of the sandwich wall. By com-paring the two kinds of wall heat transfer coefficienies of the non-thermal insulation cover plate and the thermal insulation cover plate, it is found that the thermal insulation design of the cover plate can further improve the thermal performance of the sandwich wall by 12.3%. In the recent decade, investigation on the total building performance has become increasingly important for the environmental modelling community. With the advance of integrated design and modelling tool and Building Information Modelling (BIM) development, it is now possible to simulate and predict the building energy efficiency, air quality & health assessment, risk analysis & mitigation scenario for our urban planning analysis; all seamlessly in a single urban digital platform. In order to achieve the national goal of at least 80% of the buildings in Singapore to be green by 2030, Singapore Government has introduced the new BCA Green Mark 2015 scheme for accelerating the green building agenda. During the recent third Green Building Masterplan announced in 2015, it was decided to engage building tenants and occupants more actively to drive energy consumption behavioural change and to address the well-being of the people. Following up from this Masterplan, it is important for both the stakeholders and agency to jointly develop Performance Driven and Scientific Based Simulation Methodology and Evaluation Parameters as a frame work to evaluate the building design based on Singapore's hot and humid climate and densely-built-up urban areas for the Green Mark 2015 Scheme. In this paper, we will present the methodology and perform a baseline case study for the natural ventilation performance with the typical Non-Residential Building (NRB) industrial building. This can be resulted in the comprehensive CFD Quality Check List for the Environmental Sustainable Design (ESD) consultant in order to maintain modelling result accuracy. One characteristic of tumor-associated CD4+Foxp3+ regulatory T cells (Tregs) is the high expression of tumor necrosis factor receptor type II (TNFR2), a receptor that mediates the decisive effect of tumor necrosis factor (TNF) in the activation and expansion of Tregs. There is increasing evidence that inhibition of TNFR2 can enhance anti-tumor immune responses. Therefore, we screened Chinese herbal extracts for their capacity to block TNF-TNFR2 interaction. The results showed that the treatment with a Chinese herb extract could inhibit TNFR2-induced biological responses in vitro , including the proliferation of TNFR2+ Tregs. Our subsequent study led to the identification of flavonoid compound scutellarin was responsible for the activity. Our results showed that scutellarin is able to disrupt the interaction of TNF-TNFR2 and inhibited the phosphorylation of p38 MAPK, a down-stream signaling component of TNFR2. Importantly, in vivo scutellarin treatment markedly enhanced the efficacy of tumor immunotherapy with CpG oligodeoxynucleotide in mouse CT26 colon cancer model. This effect of scutellarin was associated with the reduction of the number of tumor-infiltrating TNFR2-expressing Tregs and increased tumor infiltration of interferon-γ–producing CD8+ T cells. Our result also suggests that scutellarin or its analogs may be used as an adjuvant to enhance the anti-tumor effect of immunotherapeutic agent by eliminating TNFR2+ Treg activity. The emerging phase change materials (PCMs) have attracted much attention due to their unique properties and applications. However, the optical properties of PCM at high pressures have not been well explored. In this work, the microstructure and optical properties of GeTe and Sn-substituted GeTe at high pressures up to 30 GPa have been systematically investigated. We find that the substitution of small amounts of Sn for Ge combined with the introduction of high pressure can induce an optical contrast of 117% in crystalline GeTe, which is even higher than the highest optical contrast reported so far (90%) caused by amorphous GeTe to crystalline GeTe. The pressure-induced contrast does not originate from any phase transition as previously, but from the combined effect of Peierls distortion elimination and Ge vacancy formation, which leads to an increase in carrier concentration. The relationship between pressure/atomic composition, Peierls distortion/vacancy formation, and optical contrast can be well explained by a combination of experiments and theoretical calculations. Exploring new therapeutic diseases for existing drugs plays an essential role in reducing drug development costs. However, existing methods for predicting drug–disease association (DDA) lack fusion to multi-neighborhood information, which limits their ability to generalize and forces them to rely on prior knowledge. To this end, we propose a novel DDA model called the Neighborhood Contrastive Learning Heterogeneous Networks (NCH-DDA). NCH-DDA uses both single-neighborhood and multi-neighborhood feature extraction modules to extract important features of drugs and diseases in parallel from multiple potential spaces, such as heterogeneous networks and similarity networks. NCH-DDA fuses single-neighborhood and multi-neighborhood features using contrastive learning to enhance information interaction in different neighborhood spaces, ultimately obtaining universal domain features of drugs and diseases. NCH-DDA uses a combination of predictive loss and triplet loss to reduce dependence on prior knowledge. In different partition schemes of multiple datasets, NCH-DDA achieved the best performance in predicting DDA, outperforming several current state-of-the-art methods. Moreover, NCH-DDA demonstrated better performance in experiments on data sparsity and drug repositioning for Alzheimer's disease, indicating its greater potential in DDA prediction with sparse omics data and drug repositioning applications. • Neighborhood contrastive model for heterogeneous representation and DDA prediction. • MNFEM and SNFEM capture the important features in multiple potential spaces. • Contrast learning aggregated generic neighborhood features of drugs and diseases. • Presented a mixing optimization strategy to reduce the dependence on prior knowledge. • Four of the top five drugs recommended for AD by NCH-DDA were proved to be effective. • Adobe Yaokang for traditional heating in cold climates was presented. • A quantitatively analysis of the thermal performance of Yaokang was conducted. • Effect of Yaokang heating on indoor air quality were analyzed. • A mathematic model based on thermodynamics equilibrium of Yaokang was proposed. As a traditional heating system, Yaokang are widely used in cave dwellings in rural China. Yaokang are built by local craftsmen, according to traditional construction methods. To study the thermal environment of Yaodong dwellings with Yaokang heating and the effect of the burning of Yaokang on the health of residents, the thermal performance of Yaokang and the indoor air quality with Yaokang heating were quantitatively analyzed. The results showed that Yaokang has an excellent thermal storage capacity, and can supply heat to the room for a long period, even after the burning has stopped, with a thermal efficiency of 67.7%. Meanwhile, the concentrations of CO, particulate matter (PM2.5), CO 2 , and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in the indoor air were generally within the ranges of good air quality or light pollution. Finally, based on the theory of thermodynamics, a mathematical model of Yaokang heating process was established, and verified using experimental data. Based on the model, optimization of the thermal characteristics of Yaokang and effective regeneration designs for the Yaodong can be obtained. The phosphor-in-glass (PiG) coating was fabricated via multilayer screen-printing and low-temperature sintering. The PiG coating consisted of Eu 2 O 3 -doped P 2 O 5 -ZnO-B 2 O 3 (PZB) glass, Y 3 Al 5 O 12 :Ce 3+ (YAG:Ce) yellow phosphor, and CaAlSiN 3 :Eu 2+ (CASN:Eu) red phosphor. Eu 2 O 3 and CASN:Eu were used to provide red emission for tunable chromaticity of white light-emitting diodes (LEDs), and surprisingly, the luminous efficacy was also enhanced. The impact of the variation in the B 2 O 3 content on the PZB glass and the effect of Eu 2 O 3 , YAG: Ce, and CASN:Eu on the luminescent properties of the PiG coating were investigated. The glass matrix with 8 mol% B 2 O 3 showed the lowest transition temperature and a suitable coefficient of thermal expansion. The spectra showed that the coating can be excited by blue light and produce yellow light and red light. The spatial distribution of the PiG coating was inspected by scanning electron microscopy, and it was observed that only a low erosion of phosphor by the glass matrix occurred. Furthermore, the white LEDs devices were constructed with the PiG coating on the blue LED chips. This method showed a decreased correlated colour temperature of 5137, a increased colour rendering index of 82.8 and an improvement in the luminous efficacy. [Display omitted] The tissue engineering is a promising method for cartilage regeneration studies. The rough in vivo initial repair environment of articular cartilage is a challenge for the development of cartilage tissue engineering. Hereon, in this study, a silk fibroin/collagen type II scaffold was designed. The optimal mechanical environment for chondrocyte/scaffold complex in vitro maturation culture was determined and in vitro cultured mature artificial cartilage was evaluated for in vivo defect repair. Our research shows that the silk fibroin/collagen type II scaffold has good performance and can meet the special requirements of cartilage repair. 10 % compressive strain is the optimal compressive loading in vitro. Under optimal compression loading in vitro , chondrocytes can proliferate and grow rapidly on the scaffold to achieve better "maturation". The in vitro cultured chondrocyte/scaffold complex effectively improves the cartilage repair effect after implantation. The compressive elastic modulus of the new tissue reached 0.682 ± 0.010 MPa after 12 weeks of repair (0.714 ± 0.011 MPa for the surrounding host cartilage). Therefore, this study not only enhance the effect of cartilage repair but also provides a promising strategy for mechanical stimulation to promote functional in situ regeneration of articular cartilage.
