Stress, a pervasive issue in today's world, significantly impacts mental and physical health. With approximately 20% of adults experiencing mental health disorders each year, and depression affecting over 260 million people globally, effective stress manage- ment is crucial. Chronic stress is also associated with physical ailments, including cardiovascular diseases, the leading global cause of death. In parallel, the wearable device market has witnessed substantial growth, with over 300 million units sold worldwide in 2021. These devices offer a unique opportunity to collect physiological and behavioral data, making them invaluable for stress detection and prediction. Combining artificial intelligence (AI) and wearables, this paper explores their accuracy in capturing vital data and the potential to revolutionize stress management, ultimately improving mental and physical well-being. In this paper, the ensemble-based classifier known as the Histogram-based Gradient Boosting Classifier detected stress from heart rates with an accuracy of 73%. This establishes the independent nature of Heart Rates for stress prediction, emphasizing that there is no need for sophisticated ECG and HRV readings. This paper examines the prevalence, correlates, and developmental consequences of divorce among junior high school students in rural China. Specifically, we investigate the connections between parental divorce and student mental health and academic performance, while also examining whether a student's living arrangement after divorce influences these outcomes. Data were collected from 17,955 students across 122 rural junior high schools in China on their mental health, characteristics, and academic performance. Mental health was measured using the self-reported Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire. About 8.35 % of the students had divorced parents, with increased risk observed for students who were only children, had migrant mothers, or had higher educated mothers (ORs = 4.35, 29.94, and 1.78, respectively; Bonferroni - adjusted p < 0.05). Students with divorced parents exhibited a higher likelihood of internalizing (0.032), externalizing (0.052) abnormality (Bonferroni - adjusted p < 0.001) and scored 0.203 SD lower on the math test (Bonferroni - adjusted p < 0.001). Living arrangements post-divorce, either with a mother or a father, equally negatively impacted student mental health and academic performance, with a mitigating effect observed when grandparental childcare was provided. Our study faced limitations in assessing the influence of grandparental childcare on coping with parental divorce due to challenges in gauging the extent of such support for students residing with a parent after divorce. This study did not empirically find differences by ethnicity; further in-depth case study is needed to better illuminate the findings. Parental divorce among young students in rural China is associated with adverse developmental outcomes. As is now well-known, COVID-19 is a highly contagious disease, which for some can cause symptoms that last long after initial infection. In 2021, a clinical set of symptoms referred to as long-COVID was identified. For many patients, long-COVID is a confusing and frightening multisystem disease, with the potential for myriad negative psychosocial effects, including significant impacts on employment and mental health, and requiring ongoing care. Research and treatment of long-COVID will be facilitated by a sound measure that addresses aspects of well-being, symptom experiences, and psychosocial impacts among long-COVID patients. The present work addresses this need by presenting the results of the development and preliminary psychometrics for the Long-COVID Well-Being Scale (LCOVID-WBS). The COVID-19 pandemic has brought global physical, psychological, social and occupational health challenges. Telework and hybrid work have been a necessary response that has sustained and transformed companies and work at a global level. The main objective of this paper is to understand and characterize how ecosystems of healthy work environments in the context of telework and hybrid work. The Healthy Workplace Model proposed by the World Health Organization (Burton, 2010) was adopted. Thus, we analyzed the relationship between core principles related to physical work environment, psychosocial work environment, organizational culture, enterprise internal and external social responsibility and resources for occupational health in teleworking and hybrid working contexts. The study involved a total of 1829 participants, 1246 (68.1%) female and 571 (31.2%) male. The age of the professionals varies between 18 and 72 years, with a mean of 43 years and standard deviation of 10.45. The Healthy Workplaces Ecosystems Tool (EATS) was used (Gaspar et al., 2022). 57% of participants were in telework, 16% in hybrid work and 27% in face-to-face work. The comparative results showed statistically significant differences in relation to all dimensions of healthy work environments between the three types of work. The professionals in hybrid work situations have a more positive perception of the organisational culture, psychosocial work environment, physical work environment, resources for health and social responsibility, and better mental health indicators. The professionals in hybrid situations are followed by the professionals in telecommuting and, finally, the professionals in face-to-face situations. Three linear regression models were performed to understand the factors that best explain the psychosocial risks related to mental health (PRMH) in the three types of work. The results reveal that for workers who are in face-to-face exclusive work what best explains PRMH (R2 =.41) is marital status, psychosocial environment, leadership commitment, professional engagement, physical environment and stress management skills. For professionals in hybrid work what best explains the PRMH (R2 =.36) is age, marital status, psychosocial environment, professional engagement and stress management skills. For teleworking professionals that best explains the PRMH (R2 =.39) is psychosocial environment, leadership commitment, professional engagement, community engagement/social responsibility, physical environment and stress management competencies. The results show that workers in hybrid situation reveal a more positive perception of the ecosystems of healthy work environment. The professionals who have exclusive face-to-face job are those who report a more negative perception of the work environment. For all workers, PRMH are explained by the psychosocial environment, the professional's involvement and stress management skills. Specificities are identified for each type of work that should be taken into account in the promotion of healthy work environment ecosystems adapted to the new types and diversity of work models in order to promote mental health and prevent psychosocial risks at work. This paper describes how work system theory (WST) was used to achieve the goal of creating an information system artifact that allows for both static and dynamic views of the work systems used in social care environments, in particular those of addiction peer support. In so doing, the internal environment, strategies, and infrastructure created the foundation upon which the Collaborative Health Information for Peer Support Specialists (CHIPSS) was implemented. Doing so was part of an organizational and state-sponsored strategy to streamline social care practices and enhance client care. Scenario-based requirements gathering was instrumental in ensuring that the work of the peer support specialist, rather than the information system, was the focus of the artifact. This study reports on the alignment of initial requirements to the final artifact. • This adaptation model reduces barriers to implementing LGBQ-affirmative practice. • The model provides a tool for implementing clinical trial results in practice. • LGBQ-affirmative principles provide evidence-based clinical guidance. • Systematic LGBQ-affirmative case conceptualization ensures flexible yet yet targeted uptake. The mental health field now possesses clinical trials attesting to the efficacy of affirmative practice with sexual minority individuals. With the goal of efficiently moving the results of these clinical trials into real-world clinical practice, this paper offers a model for adapting existing evidence-based practices originally developed for the general population to be lesbian, gay, bisexual, and queer (LGBQ)-affirmative. The adaptation model presented here guides clinicians to incorporate six LGBQ-affirmative transtheoretical principles of change into practice. These principles facilitate raising awareness of the impact of minority stress on sexual minority clients' mental health and on client self-evaluation while drawing upon sexual minority resilience and intersectional experiences to build empowering coping skills and validating relationships. The adaptation model also provides a transtheoretical approach to case conceptualization that directs clinicians to consider the role of early and ongoing minority stress on sexual minority clients' cognitive, affective, motivational, behavioral, and self-evaluative experiences that maintain current distress. This case conceptualization approach highlights common associations among these experiences, suggesting clear routes of interventions for many sexual minority client presentations. Case examples from recent clinical trials of LGBQ-affirmative cognitive-behavioral therapy illustrate how these principles and this case conceptualization can be effectively utilized in practice. While the principles and case conceptualization are meant to be transtheoretical and therefore applicable across therapeutic techniques, to date they have been tested only in clinical trials for cognitive-behavioral treatments. Therefore, this paper concludes with a call for future research to determine the effectiveness of implementing this adaptation model across diverse therapeutic modalities and client presentations. Dans cette communication, nous montrons que la littérature sur la prévalence des troubles psychiatriques et liés à l'usage de substances en milieu pénitentiaire est riche. Son interprétation se heurte toutefois à plusieurs difficultés : (i) une grande hétérogénéité des systèmes judiciaire et de soins de santé mentale entre les pays et (ii) des spécificités de l'environnement carcéral parfois négligées dans la méthodologie des études. Forts de ce constat, nous développons les résultats d'un certain nombre de travaux de référence sur la prévalence des troubles psychiatriques et liés à l'usage de substances dans les prisons françaises. In this paper, we show that the literature on the prevalence of psychiatric and susbtance use disorders in prisons is substantial. However, there are a number of difficulties one encounters in interpreting this literature: (i) there is considerable heterogeneity between countries' judicial and mental health care systems, and (ii) the specific features of the prison environment are sometimes overlooked in the methodology used to conduct such studies. With this in mind, we discuss a number of benchmark studies on the prevalence of psychiatric and substance use disorders in French prisons. • New threats emerging with antitransgender and gender diverse legislation in many U.S. states. • Brief review of the sociopolitical climate, impact of the climate on TGD people, and challenges faced by mental health providers serving TGD clients. • Recommendations for supporting TGD clients in the current sociopolitical context and a call for advocacy. Despite efforts to improve the sociopolitical landscape for sexual and gender minorities, including legislation to ban sexual orientation and gender identity change efforts (SOGICE), new threats have arisen with a sharp increase in state legislatures enacting anti-TGD (transgender and gender diverse) legislation. Some of these laws and the accompanying hostile climate may prevent mental health providers from providing the best evidence-based care for their TGD clients. This paper briefly reviews the current sociopolitical climate, the impact of the climate on TGD people, and challenges faced by mental health providers serving TGD clients. We conclude with recommendations for supporting TGD clients in the current sociopolitical context and a call for advocacy to continue efforts to ban SOGICE and protect access to social, legal, and medical gender affirmation for youth and adults. • Conversion practices cause significant harms to mental health and wellbeing. • Health practitioners typically have gaps in knowledge about these practices. • Practitioners need to be prepared to recognise, support and affirm survivors. • There is an urgent need for the health sector to be engaged with these issues. Conversion practices include a range of efforts that attempt to change or suppress LGBTQA+ individuals' sexual or gender identity. Formal versions of these practices are occurring less frequently in Western settings, yet informal versions and the ideology underpinning them continue to cause psychological and spiritual harm to people who are subjected to them. As evidence for the harmful nature of conversion practices increases, and some governments and professional bodies are responding with measures that restrict their use, there is a growing need for the mental health sector to be engaged with these issues so that practitioners are appropriately prepared to recognize and support survivors in ways that are effective and affirming of sexual and gender diversity. In this paper, we review the state of the evidence concerning associated harms and their lack of efficacy in changing sexuality or gender identity, and highlight the changing nature of research in this space to focus on the negative impacts of conversion practices on survivors. We then discuss the evidence around mental health practitioners' knowledge and support capacity for conversion practices survivors. Digital mental health interventions (DMHIs) offer potential solutions for addressing mental health care gaps, but often suffer from low engagement. Text messaging is one promising medium for increasing access and sustaining user engagement with DMHIs. This paper examines the Small Steps SMS program, an 8-week, automated, adaptive text message-based intervention for depression and anxiety. We conducted an 8-week longitudinal usability test of the Small Steps SMS program, recruiting 20 participants who met criteria for major depressive disorder and/or generalized anxiety disorder. Participants used the automated intervention for 8 weeks and completed symptom severity and usability self-report surveys after 4 and 8 weeks of intervention use. Participants also completed individual interviews to provide feedback on the intervention. Participants responded to automated messages on 70 % of study days and with 85 % of participants sending responses to messages in the 8th week of use. Usability surpassed established cutoffs for software that is considered acceptable. Depression symptom severity decreased significantly over the usability test, but reductions in anxiety symptoms were not significant. Participants noted key areas for improvement including addressing message volume, aligning message scheduling to individuals' availability, and increasing the customizability of content. This study does not contain a control group. An 8-week automated interactive text messaging intervention, Small Steps SMS, demonstrates promise with regard to being a feasible, usable, and engaging method to deliver daily mental health support to individuals with symptoms of anxiety and depression. • Daily interactive SMS is acceptable for supporting affective self-management skills. • A personalized automated SMS intervention supports sustained engagement (8 weeks). • An SMS-based mental health intervention is associated with reductions in depression. Si une telle question peut à première vue sembler purement rhétorique, de récentes propositions de réforme de l'article 122-1 du Code pénal suggèrent qu'il n'en est rien. Une recommandation, publiée dans les Annales Médico-Psychologiques (Bouchard, 2018), de réécriture dudit article s'appuie même explicitement sur une argumentation en faveur de l'abandon des concepts – légitimement jugés insuffisamment précis – d' abolition et d' altération du discernement, auxquels devrait se substituer l'idée, supposément moins équivoque, d'un lien de causalité nouant (de façon « exclusive » ou non) la présence d'un trouble mental et la commission des faits. Nous nous proposons ici de démontrer en quoi le raisonnement censé justifier l'évacuation de l'examen de la qualité du discernement – remplacé par une estimation de type causal particulièrement ambitieuse – repose sur des prémisses éminemment controversables et nous achemine en outre vers d'insurmontables difficultés évitées par le texte actuel. Despite the growing interest on the Russian-Ukrainian war and its repercussion on the children's health, there is no previous systematic review compiling the current evidence on this topic. This study conducted a rapid systematic review to investigate the current findings concerning the impact of the Ukraine war on the social and health aspects of the Ukrainian pediatric population. A rapid systematic review was conducted. PubMed, Scopus, CINAHL, PsycINFO, Web of Science, and Virtual Health Library (BVS Spain) were searched between February and April 2023. In addition, high-impact journals and institutions focused on pediatric health and human rights were also consulted. All relevant original articles, letters, editorials, and policy papers assessing the health and social repercussions of the war on Ukrainian children were included. From 134 publications matching the search criteria, 23 were included. These publications were categorized into three distinct domains: 'Public health challenges for the physical and mental health of children and adolescents', 'Lack of Healthcare resources and initiatives to mitigate suffering', and 'Policies, Government, and Children's rights'. Our findings revealed that the war is seriously impacting the life and the health of Ukrainian children, resulting in worse physical and mental health outcomes and perpetrating a deprived situation. To overcome such problems, several initiatives have been proposed by European and non-European countries, relying mostly on receiving refugees, providing mental health support, complementing lack of resources, and establishing policies to improve health care. The SARS-CoV-2 virus pandemic has left a massive global death toll in its wake. Associated restrictions, precautions and lockdowns have disrupted daily routines, which has been associated with social isolation and major health implications for the world's youth. This paper shares young adults' visions for life beyond the pandemic as it relates to the prevention and management of noncommunicable diseases (NCDs). NCD Child hosted a global Twitter campaign for young adults, some of whom are living with NCDs, to express their reflections on life beyond the pandemic. Contributions were subjected to qualitative thematic analysis. 52 responses from the campaign described six main themes: Health system strengthening; Access to care; Issues of sustainability, including the environment and the economy; Human rights, equity, and social issues; Mental health, and NCD prevention. Young adults expressed optimism about postpandemic life and emphasized the importance of comprehensive intersectoral approaches to create resilient health systems. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Les notions de crise et d'urgence sont fréquemment confondues autant par les familles que par bon nombre de professionnels bien qu'elles ne soient pas synonymes. L'urgence en pédopsychiatrie correspond à une situation pathologique aiguë à laquelle s'associe la notion de risque vital pour le jeune. Alors que l'urgence exige une prise en charge immédiate du jeune, la crise nécessite, quant à elle, le développement de nouvelles manières de voir et de faire ainsi que de nouveaux mécanismes adaptatifs pour faire face aux changements. Suite à la nouvelle politique en santé mentale enfants-adolescents développée par le ministère de la Santé publique belge en 2015, l'unité thérapeutique adolescents destinée aux 10–18 ans de l'hôpital Vincent Van Gogh, a dédié 2 de ses 15 lits pour la prise en charge spécifique de la crise pédopsychiatrique. L'objectif de cet article est de présenter le fonctionnement du dispositif « lits de crise » au sein de l'unité. Seront définis tout d'abord la notion de crise ainsi que les modèles théoriques d'intervention proposés en clinique. Ensuite, le contexte historique de l'implémentation des lits de crises de l'hôpital VVG ainsi que leur fonctionnement seront évoqués. Enfin, 3 cas cliniques illustreront non seulement toute la prise en charge réalisée en unité de crise mais aussi les différentes issues possibles au terme du séjour. À travers ceux-ci, sera mis en évidence également l'impact qu'ont les facteurs individuels intrapsychiques et systémiques sur la crise et son devenir. The notions of crisis and emergency are frequently mixed up by family members, as well as by many professionals, although they are not synonymous. In child psychiatry, an emergency is an acute pathological situation which is associated with the idea that the child's life is in danger. While an emergency requires immediate care, a crisis requires the development of new ways of seeing and navigating the world, as well as new adaptive mechanisms to deal with these changes. Following the new child-adolescent mental health policy developed by the Belgian Ministry of Public Health in 2015, the therapeutic unit for adolescents (10 to 18-year-old) at the Vincent Van Gogh Hospital dedicated two of its fifteen beds to the treatment of child psychiatric crises. The objective of this paper is to present the functioning of the "crisis beds" device within the hospital unit. We will begin with a definition of the notion of crisis and of the theoretical models of intervention offered in clinics. This will be followed by an explanation of the historical context behind the implementation of the crisis beds in the Vincent Van Gogh hospital and a description of how this device works. We will conclude with an overview of three clinical cases which illustrate the extent of the treatment provided in the crisis unit and the different possible outcomes at the end of the stay. Poor mental health is associated with sexual and reproductive health (SRH) risks, including human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and pre-exposure prophylaxis discontinuation. Adolescents and young people (AYP) are vulnerable to HIV and depression. This paper describes the prevalence and severity of depression and associated factors in AYP accessing SRH services in South Africa. A cross-sectional analysis of enrollment data (January 2019 to December 2021) from a cohort of individuals receiving pre-exposure prophylaxis services at eight clinics in three provinces in South Africa was conducted. Females (n = 1,074) and males (n = 231) aged 15–24 years were included. Interviewer-administered questionnaires were conducted, and the prevalence and severity of depression assessed using the Patient Health Questionnaire-9. Multivariate analysis was used to identify factors associated with depression. Over 40% of participants had experienced any depression symptoms (43.7% of females, 38.5% of males). For males, experiencing intimate partner violence was the only predictor of depression symptoms (adjusted odds ratio (AOR) 8.81, 95% confidence intervals (CI) 1.03–75.44). For females, living with both parents (AOR 1.70, 95% CI 1.15–2.51), having transactional sex (AOR 1.63, 95% CI 1.00–2.65), experiencing any intimate partner violence (AOR 1.96, 95% CI 1.34–2.89), and using drugs (AOR 1.78, 95% CI 1.03–3.11) were all positively associated with depression symptoms. Resilience was a protective factor against depression symptoms for both sexes (males: AOR 0.96, 95% CI 0.93–0.98; females: AOR 0.96, 95% CI 0.95–0.97). There is a high burden of depression among AYP accessing SRH services in South Africa. Mental health screening should be integrated into SRH and HIV prevention programs for AYP. Using data from the Australian Journeys Home survey, we investigate whether the early onset of mental health conditions make a first transition into homelessness more likely. Similarly, we analyze whether early experiences of homelessness increase the likelihood of early onset of depression or anxiety. We perform our analysis separately for men and women since there are gender differences in rates of both mental health diagnosis and homelessness. After accounting for the effects of joint observed and unobserved determinants, we find that a person's first episode of depression makes a transition to homelessness more likely for both men and women. In contrast, anxiety disorders have no effect on the likelihood of experiencing homelessness. In addition, people's first experience of homelessness has no effect on the likelihood of developing depression, but does increase the likelihood of anxiety disorders for men only. Background: Hospital-in-the-Home (HiTH) services provide "inpatient-style" care for patients at home. While relatively well known in non-psychiatric settings, little is known about mental health (MH)-HiTH services, with even less known about the role of a clinical pharmacist (CP) within a MH-HiTH multidisciplinary team (MDT).Objective: The aim of this paper is to describe the evolution of the first MH-HiTH MDT in Western Australia and the various facets of the CP's role integrated within the service.Method: The integration of a CP into a non-traditional practice setting represents a cultural change in the pharmacy profession. Hence, this paper utilised a descriptive-realistic style of the autoethnographic method, with the narrative written in the first-person point of view of the first author (M.F.). It specifically focused on the tasks performed by the team's CP. A narrative analysis approach was used to reflect on the reason these tasks are performed, the potential benefits and limitations of integrating a CP into the team and subsequent cultural influence on the pharmacy profession.Findings: The service commenced in 2014, consisting of an MDT of a consultant psychiatrist, a psychiatric registrar, clinical nurses, an occupational therapist, a social worker and a CP. Starting with 4 then 8 "virtual beds", it was gradually increased to 16 virtual beds. The MH-HiTH CP combined hospital clinical tasks - e.g. medication reconciliation and therapeutic drug monitoring - with home medication reviews as part of the MH-HiTH MDT. Lessons learnt include proactively integrating and flexibly adapting into a novel practice setting.Conclusion: There is scope to embed a CP within an MH-HiTH MDT; the major advantage is the inclusion of a comprehensive medication management service. While this is a promising new area where the pharmacy profession is becoming engaged, more studies are needed to quantify and confirm the stated benefits of such service. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Body appreciation, defined as accepting, holding favourable attitudes towards, and respecting the body, is the most widely studied facet of positive body image. Despite more than 15 years of research investigating associations between body appreciation and psychological wellbeing constructs, a synthesis of this literature has yet to be performed. We conducted the first systematic review and meta-analysis of research on body appreciation and its psychological correlates. Two-hundred-forty papers were included, of which only eight investigated prospective associations. Random effects meta-analyses were performed on 35 cross-sectional correlates of body appreciation. Prospective associations were reviewed qualitatively. Meta-analyses showed that body appreciation was inversely associated with numerous indices of eating (eating pathology, restraint) and body image disturbances (appearance-ideal internalization, body surveillance, sociocultural pressures), and general psychopathology (depression, anxiety). Body appreciation was positively associated with several adaptive wellbeing constructs (self-esteem, self-compassion, sexual satisfaction). Crucially, pooled associations were still evident after controlling for the influence of negative body image. Qualitative synthesis showed that body appreciation may also promote better wellbeing over time. Findings confirm that body appreciation is consistently associated with better psychological wellbeing. • The tsunami increased household out-of-pocket health expenses by 35% in heavy damage areas in the short run. • Worsened mental wellbeing was associated with a 4% fall in wage earnings among men two years after the tsunami struck. • Worsened physical wellbeing was associated with a 34% fall in wage earnings among men three years after the tsunami struck. • Although the direct health costs of the tsunami were seen only in the short term, indirect costs were apparent in the medium term. This paper looks at the direct and indirect health-related monetary costs that households incurred in the short and medium terms because of the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami. The paper uses three rounds of a longitudinal household survey of Aceh and North Sumatra where data were collected 5–17, 18–30, and 31–40 months after the event. The results show that direct costs, measured by out-of-pocket health expenses, increased significantly by a third (35%) compared to pre-tsunami spending, for households living in heavily damaged areas. This effect, however, was seen only in the short-term, 5–17 months after the tsunami struck, and did not persist to the later years. The tsunami had significant effects on mental wellbeing as measured using the post-traumatic stress reaction score (PTSR). Among men, these changes to mental wellbeing were associated with a 4% fall in wage earnings two years after the tsunami. Physical health also worsened according to self-reported measures, and this was associated with a 34% fall in men's earnings three years after the tsunami. Thus, although the direct costs of the tsunami in terms of increasing household out-of-pocket health spending were seen only in the short term, the indirect costs via effects on mental and physical health were apparent two to three years after the event. This special feature in Cognitive and Behavioral Practice is a commemoration to Aaron T. Beck's contributions to the science and practice of CBT. The fact that so many leading scholars participated, including several Past Presidents of the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies, speaks volumes about the high regard held for Beck. Included are papers that cover the Beckian model of depression, its refinement and application to obsessions, compulsions, hoarding, as well as how the model addresses interpretational biases in emotional psychopathology and has been adapted for youth. Additionally there are papers conveying how Beck's phenomenological approach to understanding the client's perspective is useful in attending to cultural differences, and in mitigating the mental health impact of marginalization and discrimination. Expert commentaries are extended to relational processes (case formulation, therapeutic relationship, collaboration and guided discovery, alliance, rupture repair, homework), change processes (cognitive reappraisal, dialectical thinking, acceptance and defusion, emotional schemas), and to important scientific advances (conceptualizing processes within techniques, data analytic advances that bridge the scientist-practitioner gap, and technology augmentation). Poverty alleviation programs, such as cash transfers and monetary grants, may not only lift people out of poverty but, some argue, may improve mental health as well. However, to date, the impact of such programs on children and adolescents' mental health is unclear. We carried out a systematic review and meta-analysis of poverty alleviation interventions providing monetary support and reporting mental health outcomes in 0–19 year olds in low-, middle-, and high-income countries. We searched 11 databases for research published between January 1, 1990 and June 1, 2020 and included interventions offering unconditional and/or conditional monetary support and reporting mental health outcomes. After screening 7,733 unique articles, we included 14 papers (16,750 children and adolescents at follow-up) in our narrative summary. We meta-analyzed data on internalizing symptoms from 8 papers (13,538 children and adolescents analyzed). This indicated a small but significant reduction in adolescents' internalizing problems postintervention compared to control (odds ratio 0.72, 95% confidence interval 0.59–0.88, p <.01; I2 = 67%, τ2 = 0.05, p <.01). Our narrative synthesis provides further support for the overall effectiveness of cash programs but also notes that monetary support alone may not be sufficient in extreme risk settings and that imposing conditions may be actively harmful for the mental health of adolescent girls. We provide causal evidence that monetary interventions reduce internalizing symptoms of adolescents experiencing poverty. We recommend that future programming thoughtfully considers whether to apply conditions as part of their interventions and highlight the importance of providing additional comprehensive support for children and adolescents living in extreme risk settings. LGBTQI+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex and additional gender, sexual and romantic minority identities) individuals often experience stress due to their minority identity. This stress is caused by experiences of discrimination, harassment, and ostracisation and has been noted as a driving force behind the commonly reported mental health problems within this community. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) has potential utility as an evidence-based therapeutic framework to combat this problem as it cultivates psychological flexibility (PF), which evidence shows may help buffer minority stress. This systematic review aimed to describe how ACT has been used to help LGBTQI+ individuals improve wellbeing and PF, and how it was tailored to suit LGBTQI+ individuals' needs. Five of the initial 1430 papers identified were included in this review. Results suggested that ACT can promote PF for LGBTQI+ individuals, consequentially leading to symptom reduction for a variety of mental health problems. ACT has also been tailored to LGBTQI+ individuals unique challenges, and participants appeared to find it a tolerable therapeutic approach. While results are promising, the small number of studies and overall methodological weaknesses limit interpretation. This paper serves as a call for action for researchers to overcome methodological challenges to expand our knowledge of ACT with this community who have been historically underserved and systematically impacted by heterosexism and cissexism. The current staffing shortage across all disciplines of post-acute and long-term care (PALTC) settings is affecting the health and safety of residents, as well as the well-being of the current staff. The need to retain and recruit new talent to this challenging but fulfilling setting demands that we look to existing evidence-based strategies and identify ways to implement them quickly, effectively, and in a sustainable way. Using the 4 Ms Framework of the Age-Friendly Health System developed by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement and the John A. Hartford Foundation (What Matters, Medication, Mentation, and Mobility), we can build on successful strategies to address what matters to staff, mental health, career mobility, and the overall safety and wellness of our nation's careforce. This paper summarizes "More of a Good Thing: A Framework to Grow and Strengthen the PALTC Careforce," a series of 6 roundtable discussions held in 2022 that brought together clinicians, industry leaders, and change-makers to share strategies that have been researched and successfully implemented and discuss ways to scale and disseminate them to a broader audience. The role of PALTC leadership is highlighted, with key points from the final roundtable discussion outlined, and challenging leadership to think about what they can begin doing immediately to build trust with existing staff and lay the foundation for a stronger nursing home careforce. Next steps for "More of a Good Thing" include a survey of participants about what they have tried, what has been successful, and what barriers they face; a series of focused interviews with leaders; and potential collaboration with quality improvement organizations to help facilities build on and implement the strategies presented. Common mental disorders (CMDs) are prevalent throughout the population. Psychological therapy is often sought via primary care; however, equitable access is not commonplace. This review aims to investigate the barriers and facilitators adults experiencing CMDs perceive when accessing evidence-based psychological treatment in England. A qualitative systematic review with meta-synthesis was conducted (PROSPERO CRD42020227039). Seven electronic databases were searched for papers from 2008 to October 2022. Searches identified 30 studies from which three themes were developed with seven subthemes. Stigma and patients' perceptions and understandings of CMDs impacted their help-seeking decision-making and engagement with services. This meant that services were not used as a first resort for help-seeking. Upon reaching services, patients appeared to perceive primary care as not prioritising mental health problems, nor as being the place where they would be supported, particularly as healthcare professionals did not appear to know about CMDs and therapy was seen as difficult to access. The interaction between healthcare professional and patients was seen as pivotal to whether patients accessed support or not. The review is limited to research conducted within England. Additionally, it only explores access barriers prior to treatment experiences. Knowledge, attitudinal, systemic and relational barriers and facilitators were identified. Future research should focus on developing stigma reduction initiatives. Introduction : In comparison to the general population and other emergency services workers, paramedics experience high rates of work-related psychological injury. However, there is limited understanding of the case and practitioner-related factors that increase the risk of psychological injury among these workers. This paper aims to identify case and practitioner-related factors associated with paramedic work-related psychological injury in Victoria, Australia, through data linkage. Methods : Data linkage of 7,223 paramedic injury reports with electronic patient care records, and paramedic demographic data from the single state-wide ambulance service in Victoria, Australia – Ambulance Victoria. Injuries reported between 1 January 2015 and 30 June 2020 were included. Factors associated with paramedic psychological injury were assessed using multivariable logistic regression analysis. Results : A total of 4,641 (64%) injury reports were successfully linked, of which, 244 (5%) were psychological injuries. Shift hours between 0401 and 0800 (AOR 1.83; 95%CI: 1.12–2.97), cardiac arrest or deceased patient attendances (AOR 2.15; 95%CI: 1.06–4.34), hospital or medical center case locations (AOR 2.44; 95%CI: 1.22–4.91), and Priority 0 (AOR 2.27; 95%CI: 1.26–4.09), Priority 2 (AOR 1.56; 95%CI: 1.04–2.33), and Priority 3 (AOR 1.95; 95%CI: 1.15–3.32) dispatch codes were associated with increased odds of psychological injury. Increasing patient age (AOR 0.98; 95%CI: 0.97–0.99), and the absence of other emergency services on scene (AOR 0.50; 95%CI: 0.34–0.72) were associated with decreased odds of paramedic psychological injury. Conclusions: This is the first study to collectively examine and identify EMS case and practitioner-related characteristics associated with paramedic psychological injury through data linkage of EMS agency-level data sources. Practical application: The findings of this study highlight the dispatch case characteristics that may increase the risk of a paramedic sustaining a work-related psychological injury, and consequently facilitate the early identification, intervention, and support of the individuals most at risk. • Mental Health Concerns (MHC) index is constructed using Google Trends data. • We study if economic uncertainty raises concerns about mental health in the U.S. • A positive shock to uncertainty is shown to raise MHC index. This paper investigates if heightened economic uncertainty raises concerns about mental health in the U.S. We first quantify such concerns by constructing a composite Mental Health Concerns index, using time series of the intensity of Google search queries related to mental disorders and distress. This index i) rises significantly during the three recessionary episodes and ii) comoves negatively with survey responses that reflect views on current consumer sentiment or on future economic conditions. We find that the concerns regarding mental health substantially increase after an unexpected hike in economic uncertainty; uncertainty not only channels through its negative impacts on economic activity, but also directly affects the level of concerns. • Many mental health disorders first emerge during early childhood or adolescence. • Wait times for children's mental health services have been an international and widespread problem. • Long wait times prolong the emotional distress of children and/or adolescents and their caregivers which can exacerbate mental health difficulties. • The majority of research in this area has been conducted in the United Kingdom and Canada and focus on one waitlist strategy. • Common strategies include alternative service delivery models, increasing system capacity, and improving intake and assessment processes. Background: Although many mental health disorders first emerge during early childhood or adolescence, there is a significant gap between demand and availability of mental health resources, leading to long waitlists for services. Objective: The objective of this scoping review was to identify and characterize the research literature related to the range of waitlist management strategies that have been implemented in outpatient child and adolescent mental health care. Methods: Electronic databases reviewed included: Medline (Ovid), Embase (Ovid), PubMed, PsychINFO, SCOPUS, CINAHL, and ISI Web of Science. Grey literature databases included: OpenGrey, Conference Papers Index, and Proquest Digital Dissertations. Articles were screened by two reviewers in two steps: first by title and abstract, then full text level. Data were extracted using an a-priori developed data extraction framework, which was piloted and modified iteratively. Results: A total of 119 papers related to waitlist interventions in child and adolescent mental health were reviewed. Of these 119 papers, 11% were reviews, summary, or theoretical papers; 8% used a randomized control trial design and 2.5% were trial protocols. Most studies used less rigorous designs, such as uncontrolled before-and- after designs. The large majority focused on just one waitlist strategy each. The most commonly used approaches included: prioritization/triage and initial assessment; brief consultation and advice or brief therapy approaches; group-based models; interim services; increasing capacity; and strategies to decrease non-attendance. Most studies were conducted in the United Kingdom or Canada. Discussion: While mental health systems are complex, most studies examining waitlist initiatives explored the implementation of single initiatives. It is unlikely that a single waitlist strategy can be effective in managing wait times for children's mental health. Autistic adolescents are at increased risk of developing mental health problems. Improving psychological well-being could reduce the likelihood of such problems developing. Research has tended to prioritise the voices of non-autistic people and has neglected to consult autistic young people themselves. Our meta-synthesis aimed to systematically review qualitative research on the perspectives of autistic young people and their parents on the lived experience of psychological well-being. We conducted a pre-planned systematic search which identified 2552 papers, with 37 of those meeting full inclusion criteria. Included papers were published between 2008 and 2023, with three-quarters published since 2018. We extracted qualitative data from each paper pertaining to the lived experience of psychological well-being in autistic young people and conducted a thematic synthesis. We identified three themes; Walking a tightrope: the need for growth versus recharging through rest and familiarity; Developing a positive sense of self in the social world; Internally driven sources of happiness. Psychological interventions aiming to improve well-being in autistic young people should respect their autonomy and need for rest whilst encouraging growth and skills development, provide opportunities to understand social needs and differences, and promote opportunities to enjoy special interests. • A systematic review of the lived experience of well-being in autistic adolescents. • 37 papers published between 2008 and 2023 were included in a thematic synthesis. • Results give new insights into factors contributing to psychological well-being. • Psychological interventions should be designed based on lived experience. Existing research has documented various determinants of mental health related to individuals' social connections, but less is known about the role of the structural features of interpersonal networks. This is especially true in the case of bridging , which refers to ties to people who are otherwise disconnected from each other. By intersecting theories of social networks and gerontology, this study employs within- and between-person analysis with data from the National Social Life, Health, and Aging Project (NSHAP) to examine the association between social network bridging and depression in later life. The study finds that bridging, particularly between kin and non-kin members in the network, is associated with increased depressive symptoms in later life. This association is contingent on social support and strain respondents experienced, and it exhibits variations within individuals over time, especially among older adults in the youngest age cohort (57–64 years old included in NSHAP in 2005). Many youth experience mental health problems and digital games hold potential as mental health interventions. This systematic review provides an overview of randomised controlled studies assessing the effectiveness of digital applied and casual games for improving mental health in youth aged 6–24 years. A systematic search of PsycINFO, Web of Science and Pubmed yielded 145 eligible studies. Studies on (sub)clinical participant samples (n = 75) most often focused on attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism and anxiety. Applied games were found most effective for improving social skills, verbal memory and anxiety, whereas casual games were found most effective for improving depression, anxiety and ADHD. Studies involving healthy youth (n = 70) were grouped into papers examining anxiety in medical settings, momentary effects on positive and negative affect, and papers employing a longitudinal design measuring mental health trait outcomes. Promising results were found for the use of games as distraction tools in medical settings, and for applied and casual games for improving momentary affect. Overall, our findings demonstrate the potential of digital games for improving mental health. This paper examines the conflicts and challenges faced by women managers in Japan following the introduction of a new law in 2020 which merely obliges employers to take preventive measures against workplace bullying and pawahara (power harassment), but does not stipulate any criminal punishment for corporations or individuals responsible for workplace harassment, or the specific grounds for victims to have the right to claim damages. Cases are left to be disputed and decided in a costly and complicated process of arbitration, which could further exacerbate the precarious position of vulnerable workers, including women managers who are not only a small minority, but many are also marginal players in the workplace where job promotions do not enhance their participation in corporate decision-making. This paper elucidates how the new law ironically enables employers to legitimize discriminatory practices and acts of harassment against women, with serious, long-term ramifications on the emotional and mental health of these workers, as well as on the gendered workforce in Japan amidst global trends towards improving gender equality. The aim of this FEPSAC Position Statement is to summarize current knowledge about athletes' dual careers (DCs) in the European context and propose recommendations for future DC research, practice, and policy. Inspired by the European Union's Guidelines on Dual Careers of Athletes (European Commission, 2012), researchers, practitioners, and policy makers collaborated over the last decade to create the European DC discourse as a context-informed and negotiated body of DC knowledge. In this paper, we proceed from analyzing this body of knowledge using recent review papers and European DC psychological research projects to formulating seven postulates summarizing DC research findings on factors influencing athletes in their striving for DC excellence. These factors include (1) context, (2) pathways and transitions, (3) challenges, (4) resources and coping, (5) support and empowerment, (6) student–athletes' mental health, and (7) DC development environments. In the final section, we acknowledge the contributions of European DC discourse in serving athletes in their pursuit of DC excellence and European DC culture. • Clients act as entrepreneurs in mental health services under austerity. • Budget cuts incentivise creative fundraising activities. • Access to services becomes conditional on these entrepreneurial practices. • This is a new form of conditionality that is flexible and self-imposed. • Austerity is eroding the distinction between client and staff labour. This paper investigates work undertaken by clients of voluntary sector mental health services in the context of austerity. While mental health geographers have often interrogated 'work cures', little attention has been paid to client work within traditional care-oriented services. Drawing on interviews and fieldwork in a mental health day centre threatened with closure, I demonstrate that client fundraising can become a crucial source of income when marketised services face budget cuts. Clients are incentivised to act as entrepreneurs, developing creative strategies to secure funding. I conceptualise this as a novel form of conditionality, as access to services comes to depend on entrepreneurial activities. Existing theories offer a narrow conception of conditionality, as behavioural standards imposed through rules. Entrepreneurship appears more flexible, autonomous and voluntary than such rule-based conditionalities. Yet in practice clients face the same choice: work or lose access to welfare provision. I argue that entrepreneurship transforms the institutional geographies of services, directing them towards economic productivity. This can undermine longstanding practices of care, leading some clients to withdraw from services. By focussing on client responses to austerity, this paper makes a crucial contribution to geographical research into voluntary sector precarity, which has tended to focus on staff. More broadly, it advances understandings of the institutional geographies which embed the politics and economics of austerity within everyday experiences of care provision. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

• Digital mental health interventions are a promising way to disseminate evidence-supported therapy for depression. • Research supports the efficacy of digital cognitive-behavioral interventions for depression. • There is a need to make digital mental health interventions for depression more appealing. • Entertaining forms of digitally-based CBT hold promise as a method to increase treatment engagement. This paper provides an overview of the of digital mental health (DMHI) interventions for depression. The paper begins with a description of the clinical context and services needs for persons experiencing depressed mood. It is well-known that there is a large gap between the availability of evidence-supported psychotherapy for depression and the large number of people who would likely benefit from it. DHMIs based on a cognitive-behavioral (CBT) model have shown substantial promise as a method to deliver tested-effective treatment to large numbers of people experiencing depression. The article continues with a review of clinical research evaluating DMHIs for depression with a special emphasis on CBT. The article also reviews both the strengths and challenges associated with the clinical use of DHMI for depression. Next, the article continues with a description of a newly-developed DHMI for depression that uses an entertaining approach to deliver well-established CBT strategies. • Digital Mental Health Services (DMHS) can greatly increase access to care. • Training is needed so providers can effectively integrate DMHS into their treatments. • More research on DMHS is needed, along with regulatory standards. • DMHS may help reduce health disparities but questions remain about cultural tailoring. The papers in this special series make a compelling case for the value of digital mental health services (DMHS; including technology-based interventions, assessments, and prevention programs) to help address some of the currently unmet needs in mental health care. At the same time, the papers highlight the work that needs to be accomplished for DMHS to fulfill their promise. We review the papers' contributions in terms of (a) the imperative to increase access to evidence-informed, high-quality care, especially for underserved populations, both in the United States and globally; (b) ways to use DMHS to improve the ways that clinical care is provided to make treatment provision more effective and efficient; and (c) the current state of the research on DMHS for emotional disorders. We then consider lessons learned and recommendations to move the field forward, such as increasing (and making transparent) the research base on DMHS, adopting regulatory standards for DMHS, attending carefully to training issues for DMHS and best practices for dissemination and implementation, designing specifically for digital platforms, and being intentional about efforts to reduce disparities regarding who benefits from DMHS. The purpose of this paper is to critically analyze the Tidal Model of Mental Health Recovery. This examination consolidates the existing knowledge used in developing and implementing this model in order to add clarity and explores how its theory relates to practice, research, and educational activities. This paper follows Chinn and Kramer's theory analysis framework, which includes the following criteria: clarity, simplicity, generalizability, importance, and accessibility. While the Tidal Model theory meets the criterion of clarity, simplicity is impeded due to the complexity of its concepts. That being said, Barker's theory is applicable across different psychiatric nursing settings because it is general and accessible. About a quarter of the adults living in England have been diagnosed with a mental health condition (for example, anxiety and depression). The purpose of this paper is to discuss the difficulties faced by these people when they travel, and ways in which policy interventions could be used to encourage them to travel more. The main evidence in the paper comes from a weighted sample of 363 people with mental health conditions who completed an on-line survey. The paper concentrates on anxiety issues. The anxieties are considered under five headings: interacting with fellow travellers, interacting with staff and purchasing tickets, wayfinding, needing support, and needing to take urgent action. Policy interventions to improve access to infrastructure and services to help address the anxieties are discussed under these headings. The number of respondents who say that they would travel more if some of the interventions were introduced is then considered. Major health shocks can have far-reaching implications for the welfare of an individual's support and emotional network. This paper investigates both long-term and short-term spillover effects of a major non-communicable health shock, namely a cancer diagnosis (CD), on the health and well-being of an individual's partner. We rely on data from a longitudinal sample of individuals over fifty from 19 European countries. Our estimates provide economically relevant evidence of the spillovers of a CD on the partner's mental health and well-being. We document a robust and time persisting negative relationship between a partner's CD and several measures of well-being, which is not driven by changes in health behaviors. These findings suggest that focusing solely on the individual economic impact of a CD will likely underestimate its long-term welfare effects unless the external effects on the emotional support network are considered. Adolescents' mental health was severely compromised during the COVID-19 pandemic. Longitudinal real-world studies on changes in the mental health of adolescents during the later phase of the pandemic are limited. We aimed to quantify the effect of COVID-19 pandemic on adolescents' mental health outcomes based on electronic health records. This was a retrospective cohort study using the computerized database of a 2.5 million members, state-mandated health organization in Israel. Rates of mental health diagnoses and psychiatric drug dispensations were measured among adolescents 12 to 17 years of age with and without pre-existing mental history, for the years 2017 to 2021. Relative risks were computed between the years, and interrupted time series (ITS) analyses evaluated changes in monthly incidence rates of psychiatric outcomes. The average population size was 218,146 in 2021. During the COVID-19 period, a 36% increase was observed in the incidence of depression (95% CI = 25-47), 31% in anxiety (95% CI = 23-39), 20% in stress (95% CI = 13-27), 50% in eating disorders (95% CI = 35-67), 25% in antidepressant use (95% CI = 25-33), and 28% in antipsychotic use (95% CI = 18-40). A decreased rate of 26% (95% CI = 0.80-0.88) was observed in ADHD diagnoses. The increase of the examined outcomes was most prominent among youth without psychiatric history, female youth, general secular Jewish population, youth with medium−high socioeconomic status, and those 14 to 15 years of age. ITS analysis confirmed a significantly higher growth in the incidence of psychiatric outcomes during the COVID-19 period, compared to those in previous years. This real-world study highlights the deterioration of adolescents' mental health during the COVID-19 pandemic and suggests that youth mental health should be considered during health policy decision making. • The published clinical guidance on conducting an efficient and precise functional interview is relatively sparse. • The current study outlines an approach to clinical interviewing designed to solicit useful clinical information from caregivers while still providing opportunities for rapport building. • The Structured Function-Based Interview (SFBI) was found to be reliable to administer (98.5%), and generated functional hypotheses that were validated by the use of functional analysis. • Caregivers rated the SFBI to be useful as an information-gathering tool and to promote understanding about their child. The most common reason that children are referred to mental health providers relates to behavior and emotional problems. Without intervention, children with maladaptive behaviors are at risk for poor school performance, interpersonal difficulties, and significant conduct problems later in life. Previous research on the assessment of these problems has focused primarily on caregiver self-report questionnaires, observational coding, and/or diagnostic classification. The behavior literature has far fewer examples of best-practice interview strategies to solicit meaningful clinical information from primary stakeholders. Since caregiver report is essential during initial interviews to better understand his or her child's presenting issues and given the primary role of assessment is to integrate information into the design of an evidence-based intervention (Barlow et al., 2005), additional published guidance on the content of these clinical interactions is warranted. OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this paper was to understand associations between low sleep duration (< 8 hours) and positive mental health screens among adolescents (ages 13-18) seen for preventive visits in primary care. METHODS: Data were from two randomized controlled trials testing the efficacy of an electronic health risk behavior screening and feedback tool for adolescent preventive visits. Participants (n = 601) completed screeners at baseline, 3 months, and 6 months which included sleep duration in hours and the Patient Health Questionnaire 9 and Generalized Anxiety Disorder 7 screeners for depression and anxiety, respectively. Main analyses included adjusted logistic regressions testing associations between low sleep duration and positive mental health screens. RESULTS: Adjusted models showed that low sleep duration was associated with significantly greater odds of a positive depression screen (OR = 1.58, 95% CI: 1.06-2.37) but not with a positive anxiety screen or co-occurring positive depression and anxiety screens. However, follow-up analyses indicated an interaction between sleep duration and anxiety in the association with a positive depression screen, such that the association between low sleep and a positive depression screen was driven by those who did not screen positive for anxiety. CONCLUSIONS: As pediatric primary care guidelines for sleep continue to evolve, further research, training, and support for sleep screening are warranted to ensure effective early intervention for sleep and mental health problems during adolescence. Obstetric patients are at increased risk for psychological distress and the development or exacerbation of mental illness, particularly in the setting of pregnancy or delivery complications. Inpatient antepartum, labor and delivery, and postpartum hospitalization is an important opportunity for psychiatric support and intervention. The aims of this paper are to review the unmet mental health needs in obstetric inpatient care, examine the current state of obstetric consultation-liaison (OB CL) psychiatry services, present one existing model of such a service at the authors' institution, provide broad recommendations for the structure and implementation of this service, and detail areas of future research within the area of OB CL psychiatry. We argue that the inpatient obstetric setting is a critical space for mental health evaluation, education and intervention, and that dedicated OB CL psychiatry services are a potentially valuable tool in addressing the perinatal mental health crisis. Through experiments, this paper tests that after using cloud computing technology, the accuracy of the mental health service platform for users' psychological test is 78% at the highest and 70% at the lowest, while the accuracy of the mental health service platform for users' psychological test before using cloud computing is 60% at the highest and 50% at the lowest. Nursing staff within the mental health sector are major actors in delivering healthcare. They face considerable obstacles that may hinder the provision of high-quality care to patients with mental health challenges. The current study offers a description of mental health nurses' viewpoints, insights into obstacles encountered during their experiences, and recommendations for enhancing psychiatric inpatient nursing care and achieving progress toward the goals set out by Saudi Vision 2030. The study employed a phenomenological qualitative design. Semistructured interviews were conducted with 10 currently practicing mental health nurses during two focus group sessions. The inductive data produced underwent member and peer checking. Emergent themes and subthemes were extracted. Two main themes and related subthemes were identified. The first theme—obstacles faced by mental health nurses—was composed of the following subthemes: policy at institutions; clear job roles; low professional self-confidence and inadequate support; stressed, insecure, and unsafe; and stigmatization. The second theme—recommendations to improve the quality of mental health nursing—was composed of two subthemes: to enhance mental health awareness and improve professional skills and education. This narrative literature review aims to present the studies on the concept of welcome in the field of health. The concept of reception remains difficult to define by healthcare professionals and their beneficiaries. This is a fruitful concept but whose outlines are still poorly defined. This paper aims to identify the intrinsic dimensions of reception? A narrative synthesizes systematic reviews was conducted using 4 search engines: PubMed, PsychINFO, Cairn and Science Direct. A total of 17 publications was selected. Seven dimensions of the welcome have emerged: (1) relational approach; (2) singular and iterative process; (3) conditions of the reception; (4) risks of the encounter; (5) personal qualities of healthcare professionals; (6) gestures at the reception; (7) needs of people welcomed. These results highlight the importance of integrating these dimensions within an integrative model. It appears that reception must be perceived as a complex iterative process enroll in a relational approach. • Violence against older people is one of the least known forms of violence, despite being significantly represented worldwide. • Nowadays, the most common types of violence are neglect and psychological or emotional abuse. • The keywords "elderly abuse" led to a low number of results, showing low interest in this topic. • This type of abuse is little reported and not adequately addressed. Social and structural changes are of primary importance. • This paper is a call to the scientific community to study epidemiological and medico-legal aspects of older people abuse. The World Health Organization (WHO) describes gender violence as a real global health problem with a major impact not only on the victims' physical and mental health, but also on the economics of the National Health System. Gender-based violence has been also extended to all types of subjects defined as fragile: children, elderly, women, men and disabled people. Older people abuse, more frequent in women, is a far less socially debated issue, with many forms: physical, sexual, psychological, abandonment, neglect, economic-financial, pharmaceutical, discriminatory, institutional. An electronic literature research was carried out search using the keywords "elderly abuse" on various online sources. The research showed low number of results and little attention to this topic in the scientific literature. The paper highlights how the theme of older people abuse is little reported and not adequately addressed in scientific literature and in real life, being a form of violence certainly underestimated by the public. Recent times have seen an increase in the prevalence of allergic diseases due in part to the alterations and exacerbations of the global pollen cycle resulting from climate change. Climate change related temperature increases are associated with increased pollen production and an earlier and longer pollen season. A broad body of research has emerged demonstrating that green spaces in urban areas have mental health benefits. Yet, whether the relationship between green space and mental health may be altered by the presence of allergenic pollen remains underexamined. Using Scopus and Web of Science as search engines, this paper systematically reviews the emerging body of research exploring how allergenic pollen in green spaces may alter mental health, behavioural and perceptual outcomes. A total of 26 papers were identified. We found relatively consistent evidence that people living near green spaces with higher levels of allergenic pollen (real or perceived) experienced worse mental health than those living near green spaces with lower levels. However, for those currently visiting green space, the mental health effects of allergenic pollen were less clear. There was strong evidence that those who perceived the presence of pollen within a green space had adverse perceptions of that space. Green spaces with higher objective pollen counts also received less visitors. Finally, a small number of studies identified that green spaces that contained mainly hazel, alder, birch, cypress, linden, poplar, plane, maple and juniper trees were all associated with higher perceived pollen levels, avoidance, and adverse mental health effects, although more research is required to confirm this. Historically, nature has been considered central to healing and recovery in institutional mental health settings, with inpatient spaces designed to mirror the restorative forces nature may afford. Within contemporary healthcare architecture, the discourse surrounding nature's role has once again become prominent, especially in the concept of 'healing architecture'. While the literature on 'healing architecture' primarily considers how to connect recovery to nature through interventions in the built environment, less interest has been directed towards how nature is configured in design processes and what implications that has for the everyday experiences of patients and staff. In this paper we consider the design and implementation of one particular psychiatric hospital in Denmark to show that the 'nature' brought into this healthcare space can be experienced as anything but 'natural' and may reduce rather than enhance a felt sense of 'vitality' amongst patients. • This study reviewed forced family separation as the result of migration policies. • Forced family separation is linked to negative mental health outcomes for children. • Forced family separation is linked to adverse health among parents/caregivers. • There is racial and ethnic discrimination in punitive immigration policies. This paper aims to systematically look at the impacts of child separation from the primary caregiver as the result of migration policies from a racial and ethnic equity perspective. An online systematic search of Web of Science Core Collection, PsycINFO, PubMed, and Sociological Abstracts with keywords relevant to migration, family separation, and health outcomes was conducted in January 2022. The studies retrieved through the search were independently reviewed by two of the authors using the PRISMA checklist for scoping reviews and Covidence systematic review software. Based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria of the study, 14 papers were included in the scoping review. We found that none of the studies were centered on a racial and ethnic equity framework. The reviewed studies showed that forced separation was associated with negative mental health outcomes including anxiety, depression, emotional and behavioral problems, post-traumatic stress or post-traumatic stress disorder, sleep disturbance, and stress among children. Similar adverse health outcomes were reported among caregivers.
