A remarkable resorcin[4]arene-based [Co 12 ] supermolecule cage functionalized by bio-inspired [Co 4 O 4 ] cubanes was applied as an efficient visible light-driven water oxidation catalyst. The design and assembly of efficient water oxidation catalysts (WOCs) is quite desirable, but still remains a synthetic challenge. Herein, we researched remarkable calix[4]resorcinarene-based [Co 12 ] coordination cages with bio-inspired [Co 4 O 4 ] cubanes. Markedly, the coordination cage features efficient visible light-driven water oxidation activity, and represents a unique example of calix[4]resorcinarene-based [Co 4 O 4 ] cubane WOC. It afforded an optimal turnover number (TON) of 119, corresponding to a quite high turnover frequency (TOF) of 793 h−1 and an oxygen yield of 17.0%. The efficient degradation and accurate quantification of tetracycline in environment and food samples is pivotal for ensuring public health and safety by monitoring potential contamination and maintaining regulatory standards. Hence, in this study, photocatalytic degradation of tetracycline and its electrochemical detection in environment and food samples based on dual-functional silver-doped zinc ferrite nanoparticles embedded chitosan-functionalized carbon nanofibers fabricated on a screen-printed carbon electrode (AgZFO/CHIT-CNF/SPCE) is presented. A hydrothermal method was used in the synthesis of Ag-doped ZFO, and chitosan was functionalized on the CNF surface using a swift and cost-effective chemical modification process of carboxyl groups. Various techniques, such as XRD, HRTEM, elemental mapping, EIS, XPS, FTIR, VSM, BET, UV–Vis DRS, and Raman spectroscopy were used to analyze the characteristics of the prepared nanocomposite. Cyclic voltammetry and differential pulse voltammetry were used to evaluate the surface-controlled electrocatalytic properties of AgZFO/CHIT-CNF towards tetracycline. Electrochemical tests revealed that the proposed electrode exhibited excellent sensitivity for detecting tetracycline. The fabricated electrode had a low detection limit of 1 nM and a wide linear range (0.2–53.2 μM). The sensor also demonstrated exceptional selectivity, stability, and reusability. The practical feasibility evaluated with real samples, including chicken feed, shrimp, milk, soil, and wastewater, resulted in high recovery values. [Display omitted] • Surface iodinated Bi 2 O 2 S were prepared as inspired [Bi 2 O 2 ]2+-containing materials. • Surface iodide ions facilitated the separation of photo-generated carriers in IBOS. • 2.0%IBOS exhibited superb abilities for the adsorption and activation toward CO 2. • The CH 4 yield of 80.03 μmol g−1 was achieved by visible light-driven CO 2 photoreduction. • The reaction mechanism was unveiled by experimental and theoretical analyses. Solar-energy-driven CO 2 conversion to green fuels has great potential to alleviate energy crises and environmental issues. However, the low separation efficiency of charge carriers and the weak adsorption ability towards CO 2 still hamper the efficiency of photocatalytic CO 2 reduction. Herein, surface iodinated Bi 2 O 2 S materials (IBOS) were demonstrated to be efficient [Bi 2 O 2 ]2+-containing photocatalysts, which could be prepared through facile hydrothermal process. The surface iodide ions are grafted onto the Bi atoms of Bi 2 O 2 S by replacing surface adsorbed OH, which slightly changes the electronic structure and then facilitates the separation of photo-generated electrons and holes in IBOS. Meanwhile, surface iodination also exhibits an enhanced adsorption and activation ability towards CO 2 , which contributes to photocatalytic CO 2 conversion to CH 4. The vital role of surface iodination was evidenced by the experimental analyses and theoretical calculations in detail. The optimized 2.0%IBOS shows marked photocatalytic CO 2 reduction performance with a CH 4 yield of 80.03 μmol g−1 under 90 min of visible light irradiation, which is ∼25-folds higher than pristine Bi 2 O 2 S. The mechanism of green transformation of CO 2 to CH 4 on 2.0%IBOS was finally proposed by the analyses of in situ FT-IR patterns. Abstract: Silver-modified ZnO nanorods array has been prepared and the effect of silver modification has been studied. ZnO nanorods array were fabricated through a wet chemical route and a photo deposition method was taken to fabricate silver nano particulate on the ZnO nanorods. The structural and optical properties were characterized by field emission scanning electron microscope, high resolution transmission electron microscope, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, Raman, UV–vis and photoluminescence (PL) spectra. The UV photocatalytic activity of these materials was studied by analyzing the degradation of methylene blue (MB) in aqueous solution. The photocatalytic performance indicated that Ag deposit acted as not only electron sinks to enhance the separation of photoexcited electrons from holes, but also charge carrier recombination centers, so the optimized amount of Ag deposit was investigated. Abstract: The simultaneous Ag loaded and N-doped TiO2 hollow nanorod arrays with various contents of silver (Ag/N–THNAs) were successfully synthesized on glass substrates by one-pot liquid phase deposition (LPD) method using ZnO nanorod arrays as template. The catalysts were characterized by Raman spectrum, field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), high-resolution transmission electron microscope (HRTEM), ultraviolet–vis (UV–vis) absorption spectrum and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The results suggest that AgNO3 additive in the precursor solutions not only can promote the anatase-to-rutile phase transition, but also influence the amount of N doping in the samples. The photocatalytic activity of all the samples was evaluated by photodegradation of methylene blue (MB) in aqueous solution. The sample exhibited the highest photocatalytic activity under UV light illumination when the AgNO3 concentration in the precursor solution was 0.03M, due to Ag nanoparticles acting as electron sinks; When the AgNO3 concentration was 0.07M, the sample performed best under visible light illumination, attributed to the synergetic effects of Ag loading, N doping, and the multiphase structure (anatase/rutile). Abstract: The Z-scheme type CdS–Au–TiO2 hollow nanorod arrays have been constructed on glass substrates by following these simple steps: firstly, highly ordered TiO2 hollow nanorod arrays (THNAs) were synthesized by liquid phase deposition (LPD) using ZnO nanorod arrays as templates; then both Au core and CdS shell nanoparticles were achieved on the THNAs by in situ photodeposition. The prepared three-component films were characterized by field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FSEM), high-resolution transmission electron microscope (HRTEM), Raman scattering and ultraviolet–visible absorption spectrum. The results showed that Au–CdS core–shell nanoparticles were well dispersed on wall of anatase THNAs from top to bottom. The three-component nanojunction system was evaluated for their photocatalytic activity through the degradation of methylene blue (MB) in aqueous solution. It was found that the CdS–Au–TiO2 three-component hollow nanorod arrays exhibited significantly enhanced photocatalytic activity compared with single (THNAs) and two components (Au-THNAs or CdS-THNAs) systems. Reasons for this enhanced photocatalytic activity were revealed by photoluminescence (PL) results of our samples. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
