Abstract To optimize the usage of the enormous amount of data that results from medical imaging studies (e.g. Digital Imaging and Communication in Medicine – DICOM – metadata), which is relevant to characterize healthcare provision, it is pertinent to identify the main advantages and challenges related to the indexing of DICOM metadata for secondary analyses. In the study reported in the present paper, the authors performed a secondary analysis on the results of research studies supported on the indexing of DICOM metadata from Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) of different healthcare facilities. The analysis was made according to two perspectives: i) advantages of indexing and analyzing DICOM metadata from the PACS of different healthcare facilities; and ii) challenges associated to the indexing and managing of large volumes of DICOM metadata. The research studies being analyzed revealed the potential for the use of DICOM metadata by aggregating and consolidating huge amounts of DICOM metadata to characterize healthcare provision. Now-a-days an individual is directly or indirectly attached to many smart devices. One can find his or her whereabouts if we monitor the devices they are using by collecting the metadata of the photos posted by them in the social media. Some social media websites have a feature to post the place of their recent past. To provide a simple Android application, this will be using the feature of Geo tagging available with most of the smart phones. We can use this location based data to track the people based on longitude and latitude of Global positioning system(GPS). We can use this to collect the photos posted by individuals and to analyze them to know their present position. The proposed article verifies the metadata associated with image and track the individual country, city, route and street based on the GPS Altitude, GPS Latitude, GPS Longitude and GPS position. Abstract: OpenID is an open standard providing a decentralized authentication mechanism to end users. It is based on a unique URL (Uniform Resource Locator) or XRI (Extensible Resource Identifier) as identifier of the user. This fact of using a single identifier confers this approach an interesting added-value when users want to get access to different services in the Internet, since users do not need to create a new account on every website they are visiting. However, OpenID providers are normally used as a point to store certain personal attributes of the end users too, which might be of interest for any service provider willing to make profit from collecting that personal information. The definition of a reputation management solution integrated as part of the OpenID protocol can help users to determine whether a given service provider is more or less reliable before interacting with it and transferring their private information. This paper is providing the definition of a reputation framework that can be applied to the OpenID SSO (Single Sign-On) standard solution. It also defines how the protocol itself can be enhanced so OpenID providers can collect (and provide) recommendations from (to) users regarding different service providers and thus enhancing the users' experience when using OpenID. Abstract: We introduce a statistical, process-oriented metadata model to describe the process of medical research data collection, management, results analysis and dissemination. Our approach explicitly provides a structure for pieces of information used in Clinical Study Data Management Systems, enabling a more active role for any associated metadata. Using the object-oriented paradigm, we describe the classes of our model that participate during the design of a clinical trial and the subsequent collection and management of the relevant data. The advantage of our approach is that we focus on presenting the structural inter-relation of these classes when used during datasets manipulation by proposing certain transformations that model the simultaneous processing of both data and metadata. Our solution reduces the possibility of human errors and allows for the tracking of all changes made during datasets lifecycle. The explicit modeling of processing steps improves data quality and assists in the problem of handling data collected in different clinical trials. The case study illustrates the applicability of the proposed framework demonstrating conceptually the simultaneous handling of datasets collected during two randomized clinical studies. Finally, we provide the main considerations for implementing the proposed framework into a modern Metadata-enabled Information System. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract: In all fields of geochemical and environmental sample analysis, reference materials play an increasingly important role. Although the provider of an analytical result must document the measurement process used to establish traceability links, most publications do not contain data of reference materials. Therefore, the focus of this paper is to clarify the role and use of reference materials and certified reference materials, to discuss the importance of reference materials for geoanalytical work and to present the GeoReM database for reference materials of geological and environmental interest. The GeoReM database contains published analytical data, compiled data and metadata for about 1800 geochemical and environmental reference materials, provides geoanalysts with details of those samples of particular relevance to applications. Preferred values and their uncertainties are also provided in this database. Although most of the GeoReM preferred values are not ISO compliant, they have a high level of confidence and are therefore useful for calibration purposes and quality control. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
