• The ultrahigh piezoelectric coefficient (d 33 , 1264 pC/N) reaches in the composition with x = 0.55 near the tetragonal-pseudocubic (T-PC) phase boundary. • On a local scale, electric fields do not induce phase transitions, suggesting that the exceptional piezoelectric performance in PNN-PZT stems from polarization extension near the T-PC boundary. • Both the relative permittivity and planar electromechanical coupling coefficient experience a sharp rise in the temperature range of −25 °C to 25 °C. The heightened piezoelectric performance observed in most explored perovskite systems is typically attributed to the electric-field-induced phase transition near the morphotropic phase boundary (MPB) or polymorphic phase boundary (PPB). This study, however, unveils a distinct piezoelectric enhancement mechanism in the x Pb(Nb 2/3 Ni 1/3)O 3 -(1– x)Pb(Zr 0.3 Ti 0.7)O 3 (PNN-PZT) system, diverging from the MPB/PPB-centered piezoelectric systems. Notably, the composition with x = 0.55, positioned close to the tetragonal-pseudocubic (T-PC) phase boundary, achieves an unprecedented piezoelectric coefficient (d 33) of 1264 pC/N, while retaining a tetragonal local structure. Importantly, on a local scale, electric fields do not incite phase transitions, suggesting that the exceptional piezoelectric performance in PNN-PZT stems from polarization extension near the T-PC boundary. Distinct from other mechanisms, the relative permittivity significantly increases post-poling due to this particular enhancement process. The dielectric behavior in poled specimens does not exhibit a conspicuous change at the ferroelectric-relaxor transition temperature. However, both the relative permittivity and planar electromechanical coupling coefficient experience a sharp rise in the temperature range of −25 °C to 25 °C. This investigation underscores the pivotal role of designing compositionally-driven T-PC phase boundaries, presenting a promising avenue for enhancing piezoelectric properties in ferroelectric ceramics. [Display omitted] Type 2 (T2) inflammation plays a pathogenic role in chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS). The effects of endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS) on T2 inflammation are unknown. The aim of this study was to compare T2 inflammatory biomarkers from middle meatal (MM) mucus for distinguishing patients with CRS from CRS-free patients, identifying major phenotypes (CRS without nasal polyps [CRSsNP] and CRS with nasal polyps [CRSwNP]), assessing endotypic change, and establishing cross-sectional and longitudinal outcomes in patients undergoing ESS. MM mucus samples were collected from patients with CRSsNP and patients with CRSwNP before and 6 to 12 months after ESS and compared with samples from CRS-free control patients. T2 biomarkers were evaluated both continuously and using threshold-based definitions of T2 endotype to identify relationships with patient-reported (based on the 22-Item Sinonasal Outcomes Test and Chronic Rhinosinusitis Patient-Reported Outcomes Measure) and clinician-reported (radiographic and endoscopic) severity. Linear mixed models were developed to analyze clinical variables associated with T2 biomarker levels. A total of 154 patients with CRS (89 with CRSsNP and 65 with CRSwNP) were enrolled, with a mean interval of 9 months between ESS and follow-up. An analysis of pre-ESS MM mucus samples revealed elevated levels of T2 mediators in patients with CRSwNP versus in patients with CRSsNP and CRS-free controls. Temporally stable correlations between levels of IL-13 and IL-5, levels of periostin and complement 5a, and levels of eosinophil cationic protein (ECP) and eotaxin-3 were observed. On this basis and on the basis of pathologic significance, levels of IL-13, periostin and ECP were further analyzed. After ESS, levels of IL-13 and periostin decreased significantly, whereas ECP levels remained unchanged. Across pre- and post-ESS evaluation, the T2 endotype was associated with radiographic severity but did not predict outcomes. CRSwNP status and African American race were associated with higher levels of IL-13 and periostin, whereas ECP level was higher in patients undergoing extensive surgery. ESS decreased levels of IL-13 and periostin in the middle meatus. T2 inflammation after ESS was correlated with patient- and clinician-reported severity across phenotypes. The aim of this study was to investigate the role of ferroptosis in fluorosis women and the in vitro molecular mechanisms leading to ovarian dysfunction and abnormal hormone secretion by sodium fluoride (NaF) treatment of KGN cells. Fifty women with fluorosis as Fluorosis group and fifty healthy women as Control group were included in this study. The levels of lipid peroxidation and activities of antioxidant enzyme were assessed by photometric methods. The content of iron and glutathione (GSH) in serum was measured by microplate method. KGN cells were treated by different concentration of NaF (0, 1, 2, 4 and 8 ×10−3 M) for 24 h. The mRNA and protein expression levels of ferroptosis-related molecules, including glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPX4), solute carrier family 7 member (SLC7A11), nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2), ferritin heavy chain 1 (FTH1) and p53, were assessed by qRT-PCR and western blot analysis. Fluorosis group women had a significant higher levels of iron, Malondialdehyde (MDA), FSH and LH, and a lower levels of E 2 and antioxidant enzyme in serum than that in the control group. The representative molecular changes of ferroptosis, such as the decrease in GPX4, Nrf2 and SLC7A11 expression (mRNA and protein expression), the increase in protein expression of p53, and a reduced level of E 2 were observed in KGN cells treated by excessive NaF.It is concluded therefore that NaF increases the expression of p53 and inhibits ovarian granulosa cell ferroptosis preventive protein expression, resulting in abnormal hormone secretion and the ovarian dysfunction. • Level of iron was significantly increased in women from fluorosis group. • Ferroptosis is critically involved in the ovarian dysfunction caused by fluorosis. • NaF increases the expression of p53 (mRNA and protein expression). • NaF inhibits ovarian granulosa cell ferroptosis preventive protein expression. Abstract The energy industry has seen a revolutionary transformation in the growth of renewables over the past decade. With recent advances in battery storage performance, solar energy is fast becoming the focus of the global energy shift towards a more sustainable future. Photovoltaic (PV) systems integrated with Battery Energy Storage (BES) systems are expected to play an important role in the UK's future energy industry, aided in part by manufacturing cost reductions. For energy consumers, these systems can deliver considerable savings in utility costs and potentially bring a financial return via a feed-in-tariff (FIT) scheme. Such a system could also help energy suppliers and network operators ease the burden of a huge surge of future energy demand, mitigate network congestion and improve system resilience and autonomy. There is, however, limited literature that utilises simulation to investigate the influence of PV-BES system deployment at urban scale on the grid based on economic and technical analysis. In this work, a household-level model is developed that includes load demand heterogeneities, as well as BES and PV systems. The single household model can be scaled to higher levels, such as streets and community, hence the model can be applied to study the interaction between households, the wider community and the grid, in terms of electricity im/export, BES usage and network injection impact. A comprehensive analysis of both technical and economic perspectives is presented based on several key performance indicators (KPIs), such as self-consumption rate (SCR), self-sufficiency rate (SSR) and reduction in peak charges. The addition of a BES system can significantly increase the self-consumption of a home PV system, by at least 15%, however the expensive upfront cost of the BES system leads to a much longer payback time. In this study, we synthesized solid solutions of x Bi(Ni 1/2 Hf 1/2)O 3 -(1 − x)PbTiO 3 (x BNH-PT) with the aim of elucidating their phase boundary behaviors and the associated physical properties. A tetragonal (T) - pseudocubic (PC) phase boundary was confirmed at x = 0.38. For x = 0.36 and x = 0.37 with distinct tetragonal distortions, a spontaneous ferroelectric-relaxor transition was observed. The introduction of a T-PC phase boundary not only led to enhanced piezoelectric properties (d 33 = 456 pC/N, x = 0.39) but also effectively suppressed the spontaneous ferroelectric-relaxor transition. Detailed analysis revealed that the local structure of the initial state in 0.39BNH-0.61PT remained tetragonal. After poling, a long-range tetragonal phase was formed from the short-range tetragonal clusters, with the c/a value of ∼1.01. Our observations of frequency dispersion strongly suggest the presence of local inhomogeneities, resulting in distinct poling effects on the dielectric and elastic behaviors of the material. ● The onset of a T-PC phase boundary could enhance piezoelectric properties and suppress the spontaneous F-R transition. ● The poling field promoted the formation of a long-range T phase from the short-range T clusters in 0.39BNH-0.61PT. ● The presence of the local inhomogeneities gave different poling effects on the dielectric and elastic behaviors. Inflammation involves in the progression of intracranial aneurysms (IAs). However, whether the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) as an inflammatory marker links to IAs stability is unidentified. This study was performed to assess the association of the NLR with IAs stability. We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of patients diagnosed with unruptured IAs from January 2014 to June 2018. According to the quartiles of the NLR, patients with unruptured IAs were categorized into four groups. We evaluated the association between the NLR and IAs stability scores and IAs growth. Multiple logistic regression models were used in the analysis. A significant dose-response association was found between the NLR with IAs stability scores and IAs growth. After adjustment for potential confounders, an elevated NLR (fourth quartile) was associated with increased PHASES score (>5) (adjusted odds ratio [OR], 2.007; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.361–2.960; p<0.001 [p for trend <0.001]), increased ELAPSS score (>15) (adjusted OR, 1.581; 95% CI, 1.074–2.328; p=0.020 [p for trend =0.001]), increased JAPAN 3-year rupture risk score (>5) (adjusted OR, 1.512; 95% CI, 1.033–2.215; p=0.034 [p for trend <0.001]), and IAs growth (adjusted OR, 16.759; 95% CI, 3.022–92.928; p=0.001 [p for trend <0.001]). 18. Pressure Injury Risk Assessment and Associations in an Adult Inpatient Rehabilitation Sample- Retrospective Cohort Study.

To identify risk factors for the development of Hospital Acquired Pressure Injury (HAPI) over 6 months in an Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility (IRF) using the Braden Scale for Pressure Injury Prevention (Braden) and other variables. Observational Retrospective Cohort Study. 262 bed free-standing IRF at an urban academic medical center. Adults 18 years and older admitted to IRF from July through December 2020 were included. N/A. Logistic regression is used to assess HAPI occurrence during episode of care, against possible predictors including the Braden total score, Braden subscales, demographics, lab albumen, pain, diagnosis-related impairment group, external medical/orthopedic devices, expression of ideas/wants and understanding of verbal content. Of 1342 unique patients with 1494 episode of care, 54 (3.6%) HAPI events occurred. Before adjustment, Braden total score of 15 (14.69, SD 1.92) and below was associated with increased HAPI occurrence (p< 0.001). Univariate analyses identified the following significant risk factors for HAPI: age, impairment group, gastrointestinal tube, urinary catheter, expression of ideas/wants and understanding of verbal content. After adjusting for these variables, each one-point increase was associated with a 23% reduced odds of HAPI occurrence (95% CI, 0.65-0.90; p< 0.001). Three variables were still strongly associated with increased HAPI occurrence: Braden subscale "Friction/Shear" (OR 0.47; 95%CI, 0.27-0.81; p< 0.007), presence of a gastrointestinal tube (OR 2.51 higher odds; 95%CI, 1.03-5.66; p< 0.001), and rarely/never expresses ideas/wants (OR 9.16 higher odds; 95%CI, 0.94-70.05; p< 0.04) compared to no difficulty. Impairment group modified the effects: People with Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) had a greater odds of HAPI occurrence compared to those with Brain (OR 0.28; 95% CI, 0.11-0.66; p< 0.001) and Medically Complex (OR 0.31; 95% CI, 0.15-0.63; p< 0.001) impairments. This study builds on prior SCI-related Braden research by including all patients admitted to IRF. Clinicians should consider adult IRF patients at risk for HAPI with Braden total scores of 15 and below, worse problems of "Friction/Shear", presence of a gastrointestinal tube, and patient's inability to express ideas/wants. In this study, we successfully grew large-sized single crystals (12 × 11 × 8 mm³) of 0.91Bi 0.5 Na 0.5 TiO 3 -0.06BaTiO 3 -0.03(K 0.5 Na 0.5)NbO 3 (BNT-6BT-3KNN) with a <100> c orientation using the flux growth method. This marks the first instance of achieving such crystals. The single crystals display double hysteresis loops, featuring a maximum polarization of ∼64.6 μC/cm2. Capitalizing on the nonergodic/ergodic boundary, the single crystals exhibit a substantial strain (S m) of 0.91% at the maximum electric field of 20 kV/cm and an exceptionally high inverse piezoelectric coefficient d 33 * of 4550 pm/V. The creation of long-range domains from needle-like nanodomains and polar-nano regions under the application of an electric field was confirmed through bright-field transmission electron microscopy and piezoresponse force microscopy analyses. The phase diagram for BNT-6BT-3KNN single crystals was constructed by analyzing the temperature dependence of dielectric, ferroelectric, and electrostrain behaviors. 20. Suitability of energy storage with reversible solid oxide cells for microgrid applications.

• Study of hydrogen energy storage for microgrid using a reversible solid oxide cell. • Optimisation is used to choose and size components for simulated microgrid. • Case studies are considered for England and Texas. • Economics for such a system are challenging: payback generally at least 20 years. • Hybrid storage (hydrogen + battery) preferred to battery for high self sufficiency. Reversible solid oxide cells (rSOCs) offer the prospect of long term bulk energy storage using hydrogen or methane fuel. Solid oxide technology, whilst less mature than alkaline and PEM technology, offers superior conversion efficiency - especially for electrolysis. Furthermore, the possibility of using the cells reversibly means that separate 'power-to-gas' and 'gas-to-power' components are not needed, potentially reducing costs. In this work, we consider the suitability of energy storage using rSOCs and/or battery storage for a microgrid consisting of houses equipped with solar PV generation. An agent-based simulation model is developed to assess the performance of such a microgrid. The model enables the microgrid's self-sufficiency to be quantified, and hence the possible cost savings through avoided imports of grid power. Sizing of microgrid components is optimised to determine the most cost-effective design capable of achieving given self-sufficiency ratio. Case studies are considered for England and Texas. Initially, designs are considered with hydrogen energy storage only; subsequently, hybrid energy storage is considered, with a community scale battery working alongside the rSOC. Results suggest that payback periods for pure rSOC systems tend to be unfavourable. However, if prices fall to levels foreseen in the literature, a system designed to achieve 50% grid-independence could pay back its investment costs within 20 years. Systems designed for Texas need relatively less storage, owing to the good year-round solar resource; as such, payback time in Texas is superior to the UK. Hybrid storage with battery + rSOC is found to be preferable to battery only systems when (i) high SSR is required and (ii) large over-capacity of PV generation is not possible. Rooftop photovoltaics (PV) have become widely adopted by domestic customers in tandem with energy storage systems to generate clean energy and limit import from the grid, however most applications struggle to achieve profitability. The level at which energy storage is deployed, be it household energy storage (HES), or as a community energy storage (CES) system, can potentially increase the economic feasibility. Furthermore, the introduction of a Time-of-Use (TOU) tariff enables households to further reduce their energy costs through demand side management (DSM). Here we investigate and compare the performance of HES and CES with DSM. The results suggest that TOU tariffs can effectively shave peak demand by up to 30% and lower energy bills by at least 20%, but do not improve self-consumption or self-sufficiency rate. This study indicates that all cases considered are environmentally friendly and can pay back the total CO 2 emissions associated with the manufacturing within 8 years. However, the levelised cost of storage (LCOS) is still beyond a household's affordability, ranging from £0.4 to £2.03 kWh−1, though CES is proven more effective at improving self-consumption for consumers and shaving peak demand for network operators. The feasibility can be improved by 1) combining different services and tariffs to obtain more revenues for households; 2) more legislative and financial support to reduce system costs; and 3) more innovative business models and policies to optimise revenues with existing resource. • Techno-enviro-economic analysis of energy storage for two communities is presented. • Flat tariff maximises PV consumption; TOU tariff allows greater cost reductions. • Storage feasibility still hindered by expensive LCOS, from £0.4 - £2.03 kWh−1. • Inter-house trading reduces energy cost by 50% but needs policy support. • All cases can pay back total manufacturing CO 2 emissions within 8 years. Excessive taking fluoride (F) causes severe damage to reproductive system through stimulation of apoptosis and oxidant stress. Selenium (Se) may promote anti-oxidant enzymes and invert cell apoptosis. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of Se on peripheral blood mononuclear cell (PBMC) apoptosis and oxidant stress in women with fluorosis. Sixty women were divided into three groups according to serum and urine fluoride and hair Se as High F + high Se group, High F group and Control group. The activities of anti-oxidant enzymes, malondialdehyde (MDA) and Se were measured. The levels of sirtuin type 1 (SIRT1), estradiol (E 2), follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH) were measured by enzyme-linked immune sorbent assay (ELISA) kits. The expression of protein and apoptosis rate were detected by Western blot and Flow cytometry. The levels of E 2 , anti-oxidant enzymes in High F group were significantly lower than that in Control group, while the levels of SIRT1 and MDA were significantly higher. The levels of anti-oxidant enzymes and heat shock protein 70 (HSP70) were significantly increased in High Se + high F group while the expression of caspase-3 was significantly increased in high F group. The levels of LH and FSH in serum were significantly increased in High F group and High Se + high F group. Therefore, Se alleviates apoptosis induced by F through improving the expression of HSP70 and reduces oxidative stress by regulating levels of SIRT1 and anti-oxidant enzymes, and the secretion of certain reproductive hormones. Residential electricity demand is expected to rise in the next few decades due to the electrification of heating and transport. Both European and UK national policies suggest that efforts should be made to reduce carbon emissions and increase the share of renewable energy, an important element of which is encouraging generation, typically PV, in partnership with energy storage systems in the residential sector. The scale of the energy storage system is important, i.e. in individual properties or as a community resource. Many advantages of community energy storage (CES) over household energy storage (HES) have been identified, but the design and operation of CES has received significantly less attention. Most existing research has analysed CES at community level only, but the performance and impact on individual households has yet to be fully explored. In this study an agent-based model is proposed to investigate and analyse CES based on a range of criteria. Results indicate that both HES and CES can significantly reduce the grid peak power import and export, improve the community self-consumption rate (SCR) and self-sufficiency rate (SSR), and contribute to much higher energy saving. Furthermore, optimising the CES capacity leads to more effective use of PV power and better demand localisation during high PV-generation periods. It is found that an important challenge for CES systems is to realise the value of the shared electricity equitably amongst the participants and potentially to seek other revenue streams. In this study, multicomponent rare-earth zirconate ceramics (Sm 0.2 Eu 0.2 Tb 0.2 Dy 0.2 Lu 0.2) 2 Zr 2 O 7 and (La 0.2 Eu 0.2 Gd 0.2 Yb 0.2 Y 0.2) 2 Zr 2 O 7 were synthesized via conventional sintering and reactive flash sintering, respectively. Single-phase (Sm 0.2 Eu 0.2 Tb 0.2 Dy 0.2 Lu 0.2) 2 Zr 2 O 7 ceramics, with the defect fluorite structure, were successfully obtained via conventional sintering and reactive flash sintering, while secondary phase segregation and precipitation were observed only in conventionally-sintered (La 0.2 Eu 0.2 Gd 0.2 Yb 0.2 Y 0.2) 2 Zr 2 O 7 ceramics. This study proposes that the critical electric field of reactive flash sintering introduces defects to soften the lattice, which not only improves the mass transportation, but also relieves the lattice stress induced by the atomic radius difference, resulting in the single-phase defect fluorite structure of (La 0.2 Eu 0.2 Gd 0.2 Yb 0.2 Y 0.2) 2 Zr 2 O 7. Thus, reactive flash sintering is an efficient route for synthesizing and developing novel multicomponent oxides that cannot be synthesized via conventional sintering due to pronounced lattice stress. Globally, cancer is a serious health problem. It is unfortunate that current anti-cancer strategies are insufficiently specific and damage the normal tissues. There's urgent need for development of new anti-cancer strategies. More recently, increasing attention has been paid to the new application of ferroptosis and nano materials in cancer research. Ferroptosis, a condition characterized by excessive reactive oxygen species-induced lipid peroxidation, as a new programmed cell death mode, exists in the process of a number of diseases, including cancers, neurodegenerative disease, cerebral hemorrhage, liver disease, and renal failure. There is growing evidence that inducing ferroptosis has proven to be an effective strategy against a variety of chemo-resistant cancer cells. Nano-drug delivery system based on nanotechnology provides a highly promising platform with the benefits of precise control of drug release and reduced toxicity and side effects. This paper reviews the latest advances of combination therapy strategies based on biomedical nanotechnology induced ferroptosis for cancer therapeutics. Given the new chances and challenges in this emerging area, we need more attention to the combination of nanotechnology and ferroptosis in the treatment of cancer in the future. • Simulation of peer-to-peer (P2P) electricity trading with PV and electric vehicles. • Uni-directional EV chargers (V1G) and bi-directional chargers (V2H, V2G) compared. • Case study of 50 households, simulated for a week in different seasons. • P2P can achieve reduced household bills, greater energy independence. • Combination of P2P with V2H achieves significantly greater benefits than either in isolation. Peer-to-peer (P2P) energy trading enables households to trade electricity with one another, rather than just with their supplier. This can help to incentivise the shifting of electrical loads to align with local renewable generation, which leads to decreased dependence on grid electricity and can bring financial savings for households. P2P is expected to be particularly suitable to complement embedded PV generation and electrical vehicles (EVs), two key technologies for grid decarbonisation. In this work we simulate P2P energy sharing for a local microgrid of 50 households with PV and EV ownership at various penetrations. In particular, we consider the merits of P2P in combination with uni-directional EV chargers ('V1G), and with chargers that can discharge EV battery energy to the home ('V2H') or the grid ('V2G'); we also consider the use of community energy storage ('CES') as an alternative to storage of energy in EV batteries. We simulate the interactions of the households with the P2P energy market over one week, for each of three seasons, and evaluate the microgrid's energy independence and the financial savings for households. Results suggest that P2P trading with V1G can effect an increase in shared energy, modest improvements to microgrid self-sufficiency, and improvements to household bills. However, the combination of P2P with V2H brings advantages substantially greater than either innovation individually. The typical household can save approaching £100/a (compared to an average bill of ca. £540 with no P2P), with savings exceeding £200/a in some situations. Importantly, we find that the P2P can achieve savings regardless of technology penetration, and furthermore, all types of household can benefit, including households that own both PV and EV. 28. Nomogram-Predicted Survival of Breast Cancer Brain Metastasis: a SEER-Based Population Study.

The prognosis of patients with breast cancer brain metastasis (BCBM) was dismal and the prognoses varied according to different prognostic factors. In this study, we used the SEER (Surveillance Epidemiology and End Results) database to identify prognostic factors with the BCBMs. We identified and built a robust prognostic model and developed reliable nomograms to estimate the individualized overall survival (OS) and breast cancer–specific survival (BCSS) of patients with BCBM. A total of 789 patients with newly diagnosed BCBM were identified from the SEER database and randomly divided into training (n = 554) and testing (n = 235) cohorts. The log-rank tests and the Cox proportional hazards model were applied to evaluate the prognostic effects of multiple clinicopathologic variables on the survival of training cohorts. Significant prognostic factors were combined to build the nomograms that were evaluated using the concordance index and calibration plots for internal and external validations. Two nomograms shared the common prognostic indicators including age, tumor subtype, chemotherapy, surgery, number of metastatic sites except the brain, and median household income. In the training cohort, the Harrell concordance index for the constructed nomogram to predict OS and BCSS was 0.668 and 0.676, respectively. The calibration plots were consistent between nomogram-predicted survival probability and actual survival probability. These results were reproducible when nomograms were applied to the testing cohort for external validation. Nomograms that predicted 6-month, 1-year, and 2-year OS and BCSS for patients with newly diagnosed BCBM with satisfactory performance were constructed to help physicians in evaluating the high risk of mortality in patients. Abstract: By mimicking biological olfaction, biosensors have been used for the detection of important ligands in complex environments. An olfactory biosensor based on odorant-binding proteins (OBPs) was designed by immobilizing honeybee OBPs (Acer-ASP2) on the interdigitated golden electrodes, with its ligands of floral odors and pheromones detected by electrochemical impedance sensing. The relative decrease of charge transfer resistance of the biosensor proportional to the logarithm of ligand concentration from 10−6 M to 10−3 M. To explore the molecular recognition processes of the biosensor the tertiary structure of Acer-ASP2 was modeled and the protein–ligand interactions were investigated by the molecular docking. The docking results verified the validity of experiments and presented related surrounding residues of the protein. According to the special hydrophobic cavity of Acer-ASP2 structure, impedance model was discussed to explain the correlations between changes of protein conformations and electrical impedance. The OBP-based biosensor provides a promising approach for chemical molecular sensing, as well as for precise binding functions investigating of this kind of special olfactory proteins. High precision wind speed forecasting plays an important role in the process of wind power conversion. In the study, a hybrid wind speed forecasting structure is proposed based on signal decomposition, feature selection and GMDH network. Several decomposition methods including the ensemble empirical mode decomposition, the wavelet packet decomposition, and two novel secondary decomposition method are utilized to decompose the original wind speed into several subseries, respectively. The binary-coded genetic algorithm is adopted to optimize the input features and arrange the input-output structure for the built predictors. The selected variables are put into the GMDH network to build the forecasting model for each subseries.
