Abstract: A novel three-dimensional (3D) polymer [Cd2(Hbiim)4] n (H2biim=2,2′-biimidazole) 1 was obtained through hydrothermal reaction and characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction, and the fluorescent property was also determined. Compound 1 crystallizes in a monoclinic chiral space group P21 and contains two types of helical chains. Hbiim− partially deprotonated of H2biim exhibits two different coordination modes, which contributes greatly to the formation of the 3D chiral framework. Compound 1 exhibits blue fluorescence at 488nm in the solid-state upon excitation at 430nm. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract: A series of metal-organic frameworks, namely [Ni(PDB)(H2O)] n (1), [Pb(PDB)(H2O)]·(H2O) (2), [Co2(PDB)2(bpy)2(H2O)4]·4H2O (3) and [Co2(PDB)2(phen)2] n (4) (H2PDB=pyridine-3,5-dicarboxylic acid, bpy=2,2′-bipyridine, phen=1,10-phenanthroline), have been synthesized based on pyridine-3,5-dicarboxylate acid and two neutral chelate ligands, with different metal ions such as NiII, CoII and PbII, under hydrothermal conditions. The framework structures of these polymeric complexes have been determined by the X-ray single crystal diffraction technique. In the four complexes, the pyridine-3,5-dicarboxylate acid ligand exhibits diverse coordination modes, which play an important role in the construction of metal-organic frameworks. The thermal analyses of these four complexes have been measured and discussed. In addition, complex 2 shows strong phosphorescent emission at room temperature and the magnetic measurement of the polymer of 4 reveals a typical antiferromagnetic exchange. Abstract: Three complexes, M2(bpy)2(bpdc)2·xH2O [M=Cu, x =0; M=Zn or Cd, x =2], have been hydrothermally synthesized by 1,1′-biphenyl-2,2′-dicarboxylic acid (H2bpdc) with 2,2′-bipyridine (bpy) to form binuclear molecules. In each, the two bpdc groups align the two opposing planar [M(bpy)]2+ cations. The molecules are connected by C–H⋯O hydrogen bonds, π–π stacking, and C–H⋯π interactions to form three dimensional supramolecular networks. Furthermore, at room temperature, complex 3 exhibits strong photoluminescence. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract: Two new lead-carboxylate complexes based on nicotinic acid N-oxide ligand, [Pb(NNO)(FA)0.5] (1) (HNNO=nicotinic acid N-oxide, FA=fumaric acid) and [Pb2(NNO)(BTC)] (2) (H3BTC=1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylic acid) were hydrothermally synthesized and characterized by the elemental analyses, IR spectra and single crystal X-ray diffraction.
