This study examines the efficiency of crypto markets in the context of the AI revolution, focusing on AI-Crypto sectors. By employing the Adjusted Market Inefficiency Magnitude (AMIM) and conducting quantile efficiency and liquidity analyses, we observe dynamic fluctuations in market efficiency across sectors like Generative AI, AI Big Data, Cybersecurity, and Distributed Computing. Our findings reveal that most AI-Crypto sectors present a tendency towards higher efficiency in extreme market conditions. The introduction of ChatGPT 3 significantly enhanced market efficiency, with sectors associated with AI experiencing positive mean returns and increased liquidity. Our results suggest that market efficiency in these sectors is not static but evolves with technological innovations and sector-specific characteristics, in that AI-related sectors are driving the recent market dynamics, with increased liquidity and efficiency observed post-ChatGPT 3 launch. This research extends previous work on crypto market efficiency and explores the incorporation of information in AI tokenized projects, underscoring the transformative impact of AI on the crypto market landscape. Ampullary lesions (ALs) of the minor duodenal papilla are extremely rare. Endoscopic papillectomy (EP) is a routinely used treatment for AL of the major duodenal papilla, but the role of EP for minor AL has not been accurately studied. We identified 20 patients with ALs of minor duodenal papilla in the multicentric database from the Endoscopic Papillectomy vs Surgical Ampullectomy vs Pancreatitcoduodenectomy for Ampullary Neoplasm study, which included 1422 EPs. We used propensity score matching (nearest-neighbor method) to match these cases with ALs of the major duodenal papilla based on age, sex, histologic subtype, and size of the lesion in a 1:2 ratio. Cohorts were compared by means of chi-square or Fisher exact test as well as Mann-Whitney U test. Propensity score–based matching identified a cohort of 60 (minor papilla 20, major papilla 40) patients with similar baseline characteristics. The most common histologic subtype of lesions of minor papilla was an ampullary adenoma in 12 patients (3 low-grade dysplasia and 9 high-grade dysplasia). Five patients revealed nonneoplastic lesions. Invasive cancer (T1a), adenomyoma, and neuroendocrine neoplasia were each found in 1 case. The rate of complete resection, en-bloc resection, and recurrences were similar between the groups. There were no severe adverse events after EP of lesions of minor papilla. One patient had delayed bleeding that could be treated by endoscopic hemostasis, and 2 patients showed a recurrence in surveillance endoscopy after a median follow-up of 21 months (interquartile range, 12-50 months). This study focuses on exploring the relationships between different categories of crypto assets and measures of uncertainty in BRIC countries, specifically examining geopolitical risk (GPR) and economic policy uncertainty (EPU). Our findings indicate that the co-movement of the EPU and GPR indexes with different categories of crypto assets is influenced by factors such as the time period, investment horizons, and the type of event, and that it differs across crypto assets. An overall pattern is observed, suggesting that the crypto market does not act as a hedge against economic policy uncertainties (EPU) but demonstrates a hedging effect against geopolitical risk (GPR). This distinction in hedging effectiveness is influenced by the nature of events (COVID-19 and the Russian invasion of Ukraine), since investors' expectations and perception of risk differ during these events. Furthermore, our analysis shows that stablecoins and memecoins do not exhibit consistent results in relation to GPR and EPU, suggesting that they may not serve as reliable hedging instruments against geopolitical risks or economic policy uncertainties in the BRIC countries. Our findings carry important implications for investors, portfolio managers, policy makers, and researchers, offering insights into portfolio risk management, regulatory frameworks, and the behavior of the cryptocurrency market in the face of uncertainties. [Display omitted] Enterobacteriaceae species are part of the 2017 World Health Organization antibiotic-resistant priority pathogens list for development of novel medicines. Multidrug-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae is an increasing threat to public health and has become a relevant human pathogen involved in life-threatening infections. Phage therapy involves the use of phages or their lytic endolysins as bioagents for the treatment of bacterial infectious diseases. Gram-negative bacteria have an outer membrane, making difficult the access of endolysins to the peptidoglycan. Here, three endolysins from prophages infecting three distinct Enterobacterales species, Kp2948-Lys from K. pneumoniae , Ps3418-Lys from Providencia stuartii , and Kaer26608-Lys from Klebsiella aerogenes , were purified and exhibited antibacterial activity against their specific bacterium species verified by zymogram assays. These three endolysins were successfully associated to liposomes composed of dimyristoyl phosphatidyl choline (DMPC), dioleoyl phosphatidyl ethanolamine (DOPE) and cholesteryl hemisuccinate (CHEMS) at a molar ratio (4:4:2), with an encapsulation efficiency ranging from 24 to 27%. Endolysins encapsulated in liposomes resulted in higher antibacterial activity compared to the respective endolysin in the free form, suggesting that the liposome-mediated delivery system enhances fusion with outer membrane and delivery of endolysins to the target peptidoglycan. Obtained results suggest that Kp2948-Lys appears to be specific for K. pneumoniae , while Ps3418-Lys and Kaer26608-Lys appear to have a broader antibacterial spectrum. Endolysins incorporated in liposomes constitute a promising weapon, applicable in the several dimensions (human, animals and environment) of the One Health approach, against multidrug-resistant Enterobacteriaceae. Background Small bowel capsule endoscopy represents the initial investigation for obscure gastrointestinal bleeding. Flexible spectral imaging colour enhancement (FICE) is a virtual chromoendoscopy technique designed to enhance mucosal lesions, available in different settings according to light wavelength – FICE1, 2 and 3. Aims To compare the diagnostic yield of FICE1 and white light during capsule endoscopy in patients with obscure gastrointestinal bleeding. Methods Retrospective single-centre study including 60 consecutive patients referred for small bowel capsule endoscopy for obscure gastrointestinal bleeding. Endoscopies were independently reviewed in FICE1 and white light; findings were then reviewed by another researcher, establishing a gold standard. Diagnostic yield was defined as the presence of lesions with high bleeding potential (P2) angioectasias, ulcers or tumours. Results Diagnostic yield using FICE1 was significantly higher than white light (55% vs 42%, p = 0.021). A superior number of P2 lesions was detected with FICE1 (74 vs 44, p = 0.003), particularly angioectasias (54 vs 26, p = 0.002), but not ulcers or tumours. Conclusions FICE1 was significantly superior to white light, resulting in a 13% improvement in diagnostic yield, and potentially bleeding lesions particularly angioectasias were more often observed. This study aims the reproductive and DNA content characterization of ten different Paspalum species from the Plicatula group (P. atratum, P. compressifolium, P. guenoarum, P. lenticulare, P. lepton, P. oteroi, P. plicatulum, P. rhodopedum, P. rojasii and P. wrightii), contributing to the determination of the best breeding and conservation method to be used. The DNA content of 150 accessions was estimated by flow cytometry using foliar tissues. The reproductive mode of 135 accessions was characterized by flow cytometric seed screening, and five accessions were determined by cytoembryological ovary analysis. DNA content ranged from 1.50 pg (BGP 380) to 4.27 pg (BGP 193), both from P. compressifolium species. Most of the accessions were compatible to the tetraploid level, except for BGP 281 (P. lenticulare), BGP 272 (P. rojasii), and BGP 380 (P. compressifolium), which were diploids. Accessions with tetraploid DNA content presented apomictic reproduction, whereas the three diploid accessions were sexual. These results contribute to the reproductive knowledge of species of the Plicatula group. The diploid sexual accessions identified represent important material to overcome the apomictic barrier in crosses and can be used after polyploidization as female parents in crosses with apomictic accessions in Paspalum breeding programs.
