Hepatitis C virus (HCV) management in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) is uncertain. The ECCO guidelines 2021 recommended HCV treatment but warn about the risk of IBD reactivation. We aimed to evaluate 1) the effectiveness and safety of direct-acting antivirals (DAAs) in IBD; 2) the interaction of DAAs with IBD drugs. Multicentre study of IBD patients and HCV treated with DAAs. Variables related to liver diseases and IBD, as well as adverse events (AEs) and drug interactions, were recorded. McNemar's test was used to assess differences in the proportion of active IBD during the study period. We included 79 patients with IBD and HCV treated with DAAs from 25,998 IBD patients of the ENEIDA registry. Thirty-one (39.2 %) received immunomodulators/biologics. There were no significant differences in the percentage of active IBD at the beginning (n = 11, 13.9 %) or at the 12-week follow-up after DAAs (n = 15, 19 %) (p = 0.424). Sustained viral response occurred in 96.2 % (n = 76). A total of 8 (10.1 %) AEs occurred and these were unrelated to activity, type of IBD, liver fibrosis, immunosuppressants/biologics, and DAAs. National data demonstrate that increasing opportunities exist for organ donation among hepatitis C virus (HCV)–infected individuals. We developed a clinical practice protocol for the acceptance of HCV+ organs for HCV- patients who underwent heart transplantation (HT) and retrospectively reviewed the outcomes at our institution. Inclusion criteria were as follows: all adult patients listed for HT. Exclusion criteria were as follows: pre-existing HIV or active hepatitis B viremia in the recipient/donor. We transplanted 21 patients from HCV+ donors. Nineteen were viremic donors, and 2 were non-viremic donors. The recipients included 18 patients who underwent HT alone, and 3 patients who underwent combined heart-kidney transplants. There was no HCV transmission from the non-viremic donors (n = 2). All 19 recipients of the viremic donors developed HCV infection (100% transmission). The median age of the viremic donors was 34 years (interquartile range 30–46), and 84.2% were considered US Public Health Service–increased risk. Induction immunosuppression consisted of anti-thymocyte globulin (7/21), basiliximab (7/21), or none (8/21). Maintenance immunosuppression comprised tacrolimus, mycophenolate mofetil, and prednisone. Post-operative Week 2 HCV viral load was not related to induction. Direct anti-viral agent (DAA) therapy for a 12-week course consisted of glecaprevir/pibrentasvir (14/19, 74%), sofosbuvir/velpatasvir (2/19, 11%), elbasvir/grazoprevir (2/19, 11%), and ledipasvir/sofosbuvir (1/19, 5%). All the patients on DAA therapy cleared viremia. The sustained virological response rate at 12 weeks in 18 evaluable patients was 100%. We report successful single-center experience using HCV+ organs for HT into HCV- recipients. We believe that there is utility in using such organs to expand the current donor pool. Background and Aims: Although central to the hepatitis C virus (HCV) epidemic, many patients with both substance use disorders (SUD) and HCV have difficultly engaging in treatment for either condition. To facilitate HCV care in Veterans with active SUD, a comprehensive HCV screening, education, referral, and treatment program was integrated into a VA residential SUD treatment program.Methods: Evaluation of HCV screening, education, referral, and treatment initiative among admissions to a residential SUD treatment program from December 2014 to April 2018.Results: To date, 97.49% (582/597) of admissions to the program have been screened for HCV infection, with 12.71% (74/582) of the cases confirmed HCV-positive, and 100% (74/74) of the positive cases being connected or re-connected to the infectious disease clinic for further evaluation and, if appropriate, to begin HCV pharmacotherapy. Importantly, 18.92% (14/74) of the HCV-positive cases were newly diagnosed and would have likely gone undetected without this program. Of the HCV-positive cases, 78.38% (58/74) have received pharmacotherapy, with a sustained virologic response rate of 82.76% (48/58).Conclusions: Integrating comprehensive HCV care within a residential SUD treatment program using a collaborative care model can substantially increase the detection of previously undiagnosed infections, facilitate linkage to care, and promote HCV treatment uptake among HCV-infected Veterans with SUD. Background & Aim In the mid-1990s, a group of Rh negative women was diagnosed with hepatitis C virus (HCV) genotype 1b infection, following administration of contaminated anti-D immunoglobulin in 1977–79. We aimed to describe their disease history and estimate the effect of selected host and treatment factors on disease progression. Methods We conducted a cohort study on the women infected with HCV. Information was collected from records at seven HCV treatment centres on demographics, treatment and health outcomes up to the 31st December 2013. We calculated cumulative incidence, case fatality, and sub hazard ratios (SHR) for disease progression using competing risks regression. Results Six hundred and eighty-two patients were included in the study. Among the chronically infected patients (n = 374), 35% completed interferon-based antiviral treatment; 42% of whom had a sustained virological response. At the end of 2013, 19%, 1.9%, and 4.9% of chronically infected patients had developed cirrhosis, hepatocellular carcinoma, and liver-related death, respectively, compared with 10%, 0.8%, and 2.4% at the end of 2008. At the end of 2013, 321 (86%) of the chronically infected patients remained alive, 247 (77%) of whom were still chronically infected. Factors associated with increased cirrhosis rates included high alcohol intake (aSHR = 4.9 [2.5–9.5]) and diabetes mellitus (aSHR = 5.0 [2.9–8.8]). Conclusions Development of liver-related outcomes accelerated with time, with the risk of cirrhosis, hepatocellular carcinoma, and liver-related death doubling in the last five years of follow-up, particularly in women with high alcohol consumption and diabetes mellitus. We recommend that patients with chronic HCV infection be advised of the additive harmful effect of alcohol, and that data be collected on this cohort after a further five years to analyse the effect of subsequent antiviral treatment during this rapidly evolving period in HCV treatment history. Background Molecular testing at the point-of-care may turn out to be game changer for HCV diagnosis and treatment monitoring, through increased sensitivity, reduced turnaround time, and ease of performance. One such assay GeneXpert ® has recently been released. Objectives Comparative analysis between performances of GeneXpert ® and Abbott HCV-RNA was done. Study design 174 HCV infected patients were recruited and, one time plasma samples from 154 patients and repeated samples from 20 patients, obtained at specific treatment time-points (0, 4, 12 and 24) weeks were serially re-tested on Xpert ® . Results Genotype 3 was the commonest, seen in 80 (66%) of the cases, genotype 1 in 34 (28.3%), genotype 4 in 4 (3.3%) and genotypes 2 and 5 in 1 (0.8%) each. Median HCV RNA load was 4.69 log 10 (range: 0–6.98 log 10 ) IU/ml. Overall a very good correlation was seen between the two assays (R 2 = 0.985), concordance of the results between the assays was seen in 138 samples (89.6%). High and low positive standards were tested ten times on Xpert ® to evaluate the precision and the coefficient of variation was 0.01 for HPC and 0.07 for the LPC. Monitoring of patients on two different regimes of treatment, pegylated interferon plus ribavirin and sofosbuvir plus ribavirin was done by both the systems at baseline, 4, 12 and 24 weeks. Perfect correlation between the assays in the course of therapy at different treatment time- point in genotypes 3 and 1 was seen. Background & Aims: In light of the dramatically changing hepatitis C therapeutic landscape, knowledge of the current burden of HCV infection in the general population of the United States is critical. Methods: The National Health and Nutrition Examination survey collects nationally representative data on HCV infection in the civilian population of the United States. Data from 2001 to 2010 were combined for this study. HCV testing was completed in 38,025 participants. Results: The prevalence of anti-HCV in the United Sates decreased from 1.9% (95% CI 1.5%–2.5%) in 2001–2002 to 1.3% (95% CI 0.9%–1.8%) in 2005–2006, and remained stable up to 2010. About 67% of all infected persons were positive for HCV RNA, indicating 2.3 million people with chronic HCV infection, of whom 68% have genotype 1. Seventy percent of infected persons were born between 1945 and 1965, with prevalence of 3.5% (95% CI 2.2%–4.8%). The stable rate since 2006 is mostly related to prevalent cases and foreign born persons migrating into US. Other important risk factors include less education and low economic status. Race, HIV status, number of sexual partners, and blood transfusions are no longer associated with HCV infection. Conclusions: As of 2010, approximately 2.3 million persons were chronically infected with Hepatitis C in the US. Most of those infected are prevalent, rather than incident cases. The prevalence of HCV was on the decline, but has stabilized since 2006. Future studies should explore reasons for no decline in HCV prevalence since 2006. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Peripheral neuropathy is not an uncommon manifestation in patients with chronic hepatitis. The role of cryoglobulin (CG) in neuropathy in patients with chronic hepatitis remains controversial. There is limited information about the autonomic neuropathy in chronic hepatitis. This study aimed to evaluate autonomic function in treatment-naive patients with chronic hepatitis B or hepatitis C infection and to elucidate the association between autonomic neuropathy and CG in these patients. A total of 29 treatment-naive patients with chronic, yet mild degrees of hepatitis B or C infection were evaluated for autonomic function, including those in the sympathetic sudomotor, cardiovagal, and adrenergic domains, to compare with the control subjects. The autonomic impairment was graded using the Composite Autonomic Scoring Scale. Then, association analyses between autonomic parameters/scores and CG were performed. Patients with chronic hepatitis B or C infection had significantly worse autonomic function than control subjects, especially in the sudomotor and cardiovagal domains. The autonomic manifestations in cases with and without CG were similar. There was no significant difference in autonomic dysfunction between patients with hepatitis B and C infections. The study demonstrated that autonomic neuropathy was not uncommon in patients with chronic hepatitis B or C infection. There was no association between autonomic neuropathy and CG. Abstract: Mixed cryoglobulinemia is commonly related to chronic HCV infection, and renal complications occur frequently. Typical renal involvement presents with diffuse proliferative glomerular pathology, similar to membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis, with necrotizing arteritis of medium-sized vessels, referred to as cryoglobulinemic glomerulonephritis. However, the histological appearance may vary according to the clinical presentation and treatment applied. Not only membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis but also certain types of systemic vasculitis (Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, Polyarteritis Nodosa), thrombotic microangiopathy, and Waldenstrom''s Macroglobulinemia may exhibit similar histopathological findings in the biopsy with cryoglobulinemic glomerulonephritis. For an optimal differential diagnosis, clinicopathological correlation and serological findings should accompany the pathological findings. Abstract: Objectives: The present study was designed to determine whether aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) exposure has any role to play in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients from northern India. Design and methods: A total of 266 HCC patients and 251 patients of chronic liver disease without-HCC were enrolled into the study. All samples were screened for serological markers for hepatitis B and C infections and levels of AFB1 in food and urine samples. Results: A threefold (OR=3.43) and five-fold (OR=5.47) increased risk of HCC was observed amongst HBV infection and AFB1-levels in food and urine samples, respectively. However, a non-significant risk was observed with respect to HCV infection (OR=1.27) and alcohol consumption (OR=1.18). A threefold (OR=3.15) increased risk of HCC was observed amongst cases of non-viral etiology with respect to urinary AFB1. Conclusion: The data provides an exposure and disease risk information for establishing intervention studies to diminish the impact of aflatoxin exposure in Indian population. Abstract: Background and study aims: Neurological complications in HCV-infected patients occur predominantly in the peripheral nervous system. Vasculitic neuropathy is the most firmly linked neurologic illness associated with HCV infection. This type of neuropathy occurs frequently in the presence of cryoglobulinemia. HCV-related cranial neuropathies have been also reported. This study was conducted to investigate the various peripheral neurological complications of chronic hepatitis C infection and their possible pathogenetic mechanisms. Patients and methods: This study was conducted on 160 patients with chronic hepatitis C infection comprised two subgroups: group I, composed of 80 chronic hepatitis C patients with clinically apparent neurological complication(s), and group II, composed of 80 chronic hepatitis C patients neurologically asymptomatic. Patients were subjected to clinical evaluation, estimation of hepatitis markers, cryoglobulins, anticardiolipin antibodies, antinuclear antibodies and nerve conduction studies. Results: Peripheral neuropathies represented the most commonly encountered neurological disorders, occurring in 25 patients (31.25%). The sensory peripheral neuropathy was the most common type, representing 32% of neuropathic patients (8/25). A statistically significant difference was found between groups I and II regarding the presence of cryoglobulin and anticardiolipin antibody, being more common in group I. Antinuclear antibody was more common in group I than in group II. Results of nerve conduction studies showed nerves were more affected in group I and in cryoglobulin and ANA positive patients. Conclusion: Peripheral neuropathies represent the most common HCV-related peripheral neurological disorders especially when associated with cryoglobulins and ANA antibodies. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract: Background: Patients in haemodialysis units are at an increased risk of blood borne virus infections. Birmingham city (West Midlands, UK) has a large number of its population from an ethnic origin other than white (30%). Recently due to the increase in number of haemodialysis centres abroad and particularly in the Indian Subcontinent, a large number of haemodialysis patients from these ethnic minorities are encouraged to take holidays in their countries of origin. Objectives: To present the data on a series of cases of holiday haemodialysis acquired hepatitis C virus (HCV) infections from two large dialysis units in Birmingham. Study design: In this retrospective study we have reviewed the case records of all patients in two large dialysis units who had holiday dialysis abroad and developed HCV infection after returning to the UK. Results: A total of 16 patients from two large dialysis units in Birmingham who developed HCV infection after haemodialysing abroad mainly in the Indian Subcontinent are being described. This constituted 44% of the total HCV positive patients in the two haemodialysis units (16/36). The cases occurred over a period of 9 years between 2000 and 2008. The last twelve of these fifteen cases had been diagnosed in the past 17 months. There were 10 male patients with a mean age 62.8 years (range 26–84 years) and 6 female patients with a mean age of 57 years (range 44–68 years). HCV genotypes 1, 3 and 4 were found in 9, 4 and 3 patients, respectively. Conclusion: These cases underline the importance of enhanced surveillance and infection control procedures in haemodialysis units for patients who return after dialysing in resource poor countries. To the best of our knowledge this represents the largest series of imported HCV infection after holiday haemodialysis, and demonstrates clearly the significance of the perceived risk with increasing number of incident infections. Background: Data from rodent models suggest that a subpopulation of CD4+ T cells, characterized by the constitutive expression of CD25, play a key role in regulating many immune responses. Human CD4+CD25+ T cells also appear to possess a regulatory function, but their role in infections is not fully defined. Objectives: We sought to explore the possibility of a role for CD4+CD25+ T cells in controlling immunity to hepatitis C virus (HCV). We hypothesized that CD4+CD25+ T cells might account for the paucity of immune responses measurable in chronically viremic patients by suppressing the immune responses to HCV antigens. Methods: We compared the responses of PBMCs to 3 different recombinant HCV antigens before and after depletion of CD25+ cells in 15 chronically viremic patients, 14 nonviremic HCV antibody–positive subjects, and 14 healthy control subjects. We also tested the ability of CD4+CD25+ T cells purified from HLA-matched viremic or nonviremic blood to suppress the responses of HCV epitope–specific T-cell clones. Results: To our surprise, depletion of peripheral blood CD25+ cells led to a pronounced increase in proliferation of and IFN-γ production by PBMCs only in nonviremic patients. Furthermore, the CD4+CD25+ T cells purified from HLA-matched nonviremic blood (in contrast to CD4+CD25+ T cells isolated from chronically viremic blood) inhibited the responses of HCV epitope–specific T-cell clones. Objective: To analyze the impact of seropositivity with hepatitis C virus (HCV) on in vitro fertilization (IVF) outcomes. Design: Retrospective, case-controlled study. Setting: Fertility clinic of academic hospital. Patient(s): 42 IVF/intracytoplasmic sperm injection cycles in HCV-seropositive women and 84 matched control cycles. Intervention(s): IVF/intracytoplasmic sperm injection treatment for infertility. Main Outcome Measure(s): Ovarian response to stimulation, laboratory findings, and implantation and pregnancy rates. Result(s): Absence of ovarian response was statistically significantly higher for HCV-seropositive women compared with controls (10/42 vs 5/84 cycles, respectively). For cycles with oocyte retrieval, HCV-seropositive women required more gonadotropin units compared with controls. The maximum estradiol levels and number of collected oocytes were similar, but HCV-seropositive women had statistically significantly fewer embryos available compared with controls. Embryo morphologic features, number of transferred embryos, and rates of implantation and pregnancy were similar for HCV-seropositive women and controls. Hereditary hemochromatosis (HH) is very rare in Asia. Here, we describe a Taiwanese woman presenting with fully developed characteristics of HH including bronze skin, DM, decreased MRI T2 signal intensity over liver and pituitary gland. Biochemistry of iron profile indicated a severe status of iron overload by serum iron: 194μg/dL, serum ferritin: 6640μg/L, transferrin saturation: 92.8%. By measuring the hepatic iron index 8.48 (>1.9) of her liver biopsy tissue, the diagnosis of HH was established. Diagnosis of non-HFE HH was carried out since the whole HFE genome was sequenced but failed to localize any genetic alterations. The whole genome of transferrin receptor 2 (TfR2) was sequenced and a novel mutation of 13528 G→A (Arg 481 His) in exon 11 was detected. Therefore, type 3 hemochromatosis was confirmed. The distinct clinical features, extremely high iron index and impressive iron staining in her liver biopsy tissue may represent an aggravated iron deposition in the liver caused by this novel mutation. Our finding implicates functional importance of histidine in exchange of arginine at amino acid 481 of transferrin receptor 2 in iron homeostasis. This case reminds physicians in Asia to keep in mind that hemochromatosis could be a rare cause of DM. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract: Background: Recent evidence suggests that new-onset diabetes after transplant (NODAT) adversely affects orthotopic liver transplant (OLTX) patient and graft survival. The objective of this study is to evaluate the effect of hepatitis C infection on the natural history of NODAT. Methods: A retrospective review of 492 OLTX recipients at a single center was conducted from January 1993 to January 2003. Patients were followed for a minimum of 12 months (range 12 months-10 years). The study population consisted of 444 OLTX recipients who were either HCV positive (n = 206) or HCV negative (n = 238). NODAT was defined by the need for antidiabetic medication for at least 7 days starting anytime after OLTX. Statistical analysis was performed by using the Student t test, Kaplan-Meier survival, and chi-square tests. Results: The overall incidence of NODAT was 33% (146/444). There was a significant difference in the development of NODAT between the HCV-positive group (82/206, 40%) and the HCV-negative group (64/238, 27%) (P < .001). Other independent risk factors for development of NODAT were male gender and age >50 years. Conclusion: Hepatitis C infection contributes to the development of diabetes mellitus in OLTX recipients. The mechanisms behind HCV infection and associated NODAT in HCV-positive OLTX recipients warrant further investigation. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

• Italy has had the highest HCV prevalence in Western Europe over the past 20 years, while current HCV estimates are unknown. • Using a probabilistic approach and a Markov liver disease progression modelling to estimate the number of annual historical HCV incident cases, we were able to estimate the number of infected asymptomatic individuals. • High estimated burden of 410,775 individuals with chronic HCV infection of whom 281,809 potentially undiagnosed, yet unlinked to care highlight the need to undertake an active country-based screening strategy to attain HCV elimination goals. The universal treatment of diagnosed patients with chronic HCV infection has been widely conducted in Italy since 2017. However, the pool of individuals diagnosed but yet to be treated in Italy has been estimated to end around 2025, leaving a significant proportion of infected individuals undiagnosed/without care. Estimates of this population are currently unknown. A probabilistic modelling approach was applied to estimate annual historical HCV incident cases by their age-group (0–100 years) distribution from available literature and Italian National database (1952 to October 2019). Viraemic infection rates were modelled on the main infection routes in Italy: people who inject drugs (PWID), tattoos, sexual transmission, glass syringe use, blood transfusion and vertical transmission. Annual liver fibrosis stage transition probabilities were modelled using a Markov model. The number of HCV viraemic asymptomatic (fibrosis stage F0-F3:potentially undiagnosed/unlinked to care) and symptomatic (fibrosis stage F4: potentially linked to care) individuals was estimated. By October 2019, total viraemic HCV individuals in Italy (excluding treated patients since 1992) were estimated to be 410,775 (0.68 % of current population of Italy; 95 % CI: 0.64−0.71%, based on the current Italian population), of which 281,809 (0.47 %; 95 % CI:0.35−0.60%) were fibrosis stage F0-F3. Among different high risk groups in stage F0-F3, the following distribution was estimated: PWID; 52.0 % (95 % CI:37.9–66.6 %), tattoo; 28.8 % (95 % CI:23–32.3 %), sexual transmission; 12.0 % (95 % CI:9.6–13.7 %), glass syringe and transfusion; 6.4 % (95 % CI:2.4–17.8 %), and vertical transmission; 0.7 % (95 % CI:0.4–1.2 %). Under the assumption that most untreated HCV-infected individuals with stage F0-F3 are undiagnosed, more than 280,000 individuals are undiagnosed and/or unlinked to care in Italy. Marked heterogeneity across the major routes of HCV transmission was estimated. This modelling approach may be a useful tool to characterise the HCV epidemic profile also in other countries, based on country specific epidemiology and HCV main transmission routes. • The influence of HCV and HBV infection on HNSCC is unclear. • We conducted a matched case-control study in patients with HNSCC. • Patients with HNSCCs presented with HCV and HBV infection more often than controls. Hepatitis B and C viruses are known to be carcinogenic and have been associated with the development of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma as well as hepatocellular carcinoma. The incidence of head and neck cancer is increasing worldwide, and early diagnosis is vital in order to achieve good oncological outcomes. To investigate the association between chronic hepatitis B and C infection, and head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). We performed a retrospective case control study with 774 head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) patients undergoing treatment, and 1518 cancer-free controls undergoing hernia surgery. Hepatitis B and C serologies were tested prior to treatment, and cases and controls were age- and sex-matched before analysing rates of infection. HNSCC patients were more likely than controls to have evidence of chronic hepatitis B (OR = 2.76; CI 95 %, 1.64–4.64) and hepatitis C (OR = 2.59; 95 % CI, 1.46–4.60) infection. No substantial association was found between hepatitis B and C infection and other known risk factors for head and neck cancer. These findings suggest a positive association between both hepatitis B and hepatitis C chronic infection, and HNSCC. More work is needed to establish a causal role, however an awareness of the possibility of increased risk of HNSCC may lead to earlier diagnosis and better outcomes in patients with hepatitis B and C. Summary: We report a rare case of human Taenia crassiceps infection in a 47-year-old female patient with untreated acquired immunodeficiency syndrome and chronic hepatitis C infection. Little experience exists regarding the appropriate treatment of this infection. Usually, a combination of anthelmintic drugs is applied. Whether surgical measures are indicated have not been clarified. In our patient, initial surgery showed an abscess and fluid collection with numerous transparent cysts localised in the subcutaneous tissue of the cubital fossa. Parasitological and pathological examinations identified these structures as larvae of the cestode T. crassiceps. After treatment with anthelmintic medications, the patient was discharged in good condition. However, the patient presented with the clinical symptoms of an acute fasciitis of the right upper extremity 7 days later. The deteriorating general condition entailing a pre-septical state demanded emergency debridement and fasciectomy of the right arm. After the surgery, the patient recovered fully. Conclusions: Surgical treatment appears to be an important measure to reduce the tissue parasite load in patients with severe immunodeficiency. It also has to be questioned whether the bioavailability and the penetration of the drugs commonly administered is sufficiently high to treat such a fulminant infection alone. Objective: The objective of the study was to determine vertical transmission rates of hepatitis C in 2 tertiary level maternity units. Study Design: This was a retrospective review of all hepatitis C-positive mothers and their pregnancy outcomes. Results: Of 74,629 deliveries, 559 liveborn infants were born to 545 hepatitis C mothers; the rate of antenatal hepatitis C infection was 0.7%. In the neonatal period, 423 infants tested negative for hepatitis C ribonucleic acid (RNA) (75.7%), 18 were positive (3.2%), and 118 infants were not tested or were lost to follow-up (21.1%). The overall vertical transmission rate is 18 of 441 (4.1%, 95% confidence interval 2.3% to 5.9%). The vertical transmission rate for infants following vaginal delivery or emergency cesarean in labor was no different when compared with those delivered by planned cesarean (4.2% vs 3.0%, P = NS). Among women in whom hepatitis C RNA was detected antenatally, this finding remained (7.2% vs 5.3%, P = NS). No case of vertical transmission was noted among hepatitis C RNA-negative mothers. Conclusion: This study reports a vertical transmission rate for hepatitis C of 4.1%. These results do not support a recommendation of planned cesarean to reduce vertical transmission of hepatitis C infection. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
