This work uses an alumina wheel to investigate the eco-benign grinding for better surface integrity of Inconel 625 (IN 625). To achieve this, applying nanofluids (NFs) with the minimum quantity lubrication (MQL) principle has been adopted, aiming at eco-benign grinding practices. In this work, MoS 2 NFs, MWCNTs NFs and hybrid NFs (prepared by mixing MoS 2 and MWCNTs in a 1:1 ratio) prepared using deionized water as the base fluid have been used. An in-house developed MQL setup is used to aim the NFs inside the grinding zone. The first attempt has been made to grind IN 625 in these environments. The characterisation of NFs in terms of nanofluid stability, dynamic viscosity, thermal conductivity and surface wettability have been performed before their utilization in grinding operations. A comparison has been made between the results obtained from NFs grinding and those from dry and soluble oil-based MQL grinding. It has been found that hybrid NFs provide excellent lubrication and cooling effects, reducing grinding forces and improving surface quality. Moreover, scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive spectroscopy and X-ray photon spectroscopy are applied to investigate the ground surfaces under different grinding conditions. Also, residual stress (with the help of X-ray diffraction and electron backscattered diffraction) and microhardness have been determined to gain further insights into the grinding behaviour. The wheel and chip morphology analyses have been performed to support the findings. The findings from this investigation lead to the conclusion that applying nano-MQL improves grinding effectiveness and promotes cleaner grinding outcomes. Hybrid NFs prove especially effective, as the physical synergistic effect enhances and safeguards the surface integrity of the produced ground components. Background: Endoscopic transmural drainage is usually not performed for pancreatic necrotic collection (PNC) < 4 weeks after onset of acute necrotizing pancreatitis (ANP) because of lack of encapsulating wall and increased risk of complications. Objective: Study safety and efficacy of early (<4 weeks) endoscopic transluminal drainage in patients with symptomatic PNC. Methods: Retrospective analysis of data base of patients with PNC treated with endoscopic transmural drainage within 4 weeks of onset of ANP (early drainage) was done. The outcomes and complications were compared with patients with PNC who underwent delayed endoscopic drainage (≥4 weeks of onset of ANP). Results: Thirty-four patients (26 males; mean age: 35.9 ± 8.6 years) underwent early and 136 patients (115 males; mean age: 37.9 ± 9.4 years) underwent delayed endoscopic drainage. The PNC was significantly larger (12.3 ± 2.1 cm vs 10.5 ± 2.7 cm, p <0.001) with increased solid component (47.7 ± 8.9% vs 28.3 ± 11.7%, p <0.001) in the early group. Clinical success was achieved in 94% patients in the early group and all patients in the delayed group. Direct endoscopic necrosectomy was performed more frequently in the early group (50% vs 7.4%; p<0.001). There was increased mortality (5.7% vs 0%), need for rescue surgical necrosectomy (5.7% vs 0%), and clinically significant bleeding (20% vs 1.5%, p<0.001) in the early group as compared to the delayed group. Conclusion: Early endoscopic drainage of PNC is feasible and seems to be safe as well as effective but is associated with increased risk of complications as compared to delayed drainage. • Clopidogrel which is an antiplatelet agent is a pro drug and its antipatelet effect maybe infuenced by genetic polymorphisms of the CYP 2C family. • Clopidogrel resistance was associated with the female gender which may be related to higher levels of leptin. Clopidogrel (CLP) is a second generation thienopyridine drug commonly used in secondary prevention of ischemic stroke (IS). Its antiplatelet response maybe variable due to genetic and non-genetic factors. Adipokines may affect platelet aggregation through ADP mediated platelet signalling. However, the combined effect of CYP genetic variants and adipokines on antiplatelet response of clopidogrel is unclear. Patients of IS/Transient ischemic attack (TIAs) within 3 months were prospectively screened following clopidogrel treatment. Major exclusions were cardioembolic and non atherosclerotic strokes. Antiplatelet effect of clopidogrel along with adipokine (Leptin and adiponectin) levels and genotyping of CYP, P2Y12 gene were investigated. Rare genetic variants were confirmed by DNA sequencing. 204 patients with ischemic stroke/TIAs were screened and 163 were recruited. 85 (52.1%) patients were poor responders to clopidogrel. Antiplatelet response to clopidogrel was weaker in females [Median 8.0 (IQR: 3.0–14.0)] compared to males [Median 5.0 (IQR: 2.0–10.0)]. In female subgroup analysis, association was found among high leptin levels and PPI (+) usage in poor responders. None of the genetic variants (CYP2C19*2,*3,*4*, CYP2C9*3, CYP2B6 and P2Y12) were found to influence the antiplatelet effects (p > 0.05). On multivariable logistic regression, a poor clopidogrel response was associated with female gender (Adjusted OR 2.55, 95% CI: 1.05–6.18) and PPI usage (Adjusted OR 2.42, 95% CI: 1.09–5.34). Despite a high prevalence of clopidogrel resistance in the North Indian stroke patients, female gender rather than genetic polymorphisms of CYP and P2Y12 genes may influence its antiplatelet effect. Abstract Background Congenital pyloric atresia (CPA) is a rare anomaly with an incidence of 1 in 100,000 live births. Depending on the type of anomaly patients can either present in the neonatal period or later in life with subtle nonspecific signs and symptoms. We present our institute's experience in handling these cases over the last decade and highlight lessons learnt. Materials and methods We retrospectively reviewed records of patients diagnosed with CPA and managed at our centre between Jan 2006 to June 2016. We looked into the period of gestation, birth weight, gender, age at onset of symptoms, age at presentation to the hospital, symptoms, investigations, associated anomalies, management and outcomes and follow up periods. Results Nine patients were operated during the ten year period of study (6 males and 3 females). The median age at onset of symptoms was 06 months (01 day-36 months) and the median age of reporting to the hospital was 07 months (01 day-44 months) with a mean delay of 5 months between onset of symptoms and reporting to hospital. Six patients (67%) had associated anomalies including one with posterior urethral valve which has been reported for the first time in literature. Four out of five (80%) late presenters underwent an upper gastrointestinal endoscopy for diagnostic confirmation. All patients were operated upon and Type 1 CPA was seen in five patients (56%), Type 2 in two patients (33%) and Type 3 in one patient (11%). The overall survival was 89% as one patient with associated Epidermolysis Bullosa expired after 4 months due to fulminant sepsis. Three patients were lost to follow up and amongst the remaining five; the median follow up period is 36 months. Conclusion CPA is a rare entity that may present late with subtle signs like failure to thrive and nonbilious vomit. A high index of suspicion is mandated in these cases and an Upper Gastrointestinal Endoscopy will help in early diagnosis and avoid further unnecessary investigations. • The Himalayas are the world's youngest and most biologically diverse biosphere. • At all altitudes, the average success rate of deodar forest regeneration was 43.21%. • The total biomass and carbon density rose from lower altitude to higher altitude range. In last few decades, the carbon dioxide concentration in the atmospheric has increased due to various anthropogenic activities. Therefore to understand carbon inventories for carbon dynamics are urgently needed to reduce the increasing emissions in global temperature. Cedrus deodara (Deodar) is aesthetically, socially, culturally and economically an important tree species of the temperate region in the Himalaya. Deodar-dominated forests have a great potential for storing carbon in the form of biomass and enhancing soil fertility through the addition of organic matter. Natural regeneration is one of the major problems in pure deodar stands owing to sensitive to exposure to sun and hindrance caused by needles in seed germination and anthropogenic causes. Therefore, the present investigation was carried to assess the floristic composition, natural regeneration status, carbon stock potential and soil physicochemical properties in C. deodara forest along the altitudinal gradient (1500 to 2400 m amsl). Three forest divisions viz., Seraj, Parvati and Kullu were selected and divided into three altitudinal ranges i.e., 1500–1800 m amsl (A 1), 1800–2100 m amsl (A 2) and 2100–2400 m amsl (A 3). The results revealed that there was a significant variation in species composition, soil characteristics, natural regeneration and carbon stock along the altitudinal gradient. C. deodara forests in lower elevation ranges were found denser and natural regeneration was recorded the maximum in A 2 and the minimum in A 3. Whereas, the biomass and soil physico-chemical properties varied inversely along the altitudinal gradient; however, an increasing trend was observed for carbon stock potential along the altitude. This work explores the grinding performance of Inconel 625 by comparing tangential forces and surface roughness under dry, wet, and minimum quantity lubrication (MQL) environments. Response surface methodology (RSM) and machine learning (ML) techniques establish correlations between inputs and outputs. RSM shows the quadratic regression model effectively captures experimental variability. Four ML models, namely: multilayer perceptron, KNN, and SVM with two kernels, were implemented to predict outcomes, among which KNN appeared as a better-suited model. Lower tangential forces and better ground surface quality support the suitability of MQL grinding compared with dry and wet grinding. Micro-graph investigations of the ground surfaces and chip morphology findings also upkeep the emergence of MQL grinding as a sustainable alternative for Inconel 625 grinding. Reactions of H, OH, and some one-electron oxidants have been studied with salicylic acid and 5-sulpho-salicylic acid in aqueous solutions. Rate constants for the reaction of with these compounds were of the order of 109 dm3 mol−1 s−1 and this reaction led to the formation of reducing radicals which could transfer electron to methyl viologen. Other one-electron reductants were not able to reduce these compounds. OH radicals reacted with these compounds by addition pathway with very high rate constants (>1010 dm3 mol−1 s−1) while O˙- radical anions could oxidize these molecules to give phenoxyl type of radicals. Amongst the one-electron oxidants, only N3˙ and SO4˙- could oxidize salicylic acid while 5-sulpho-salicylic acid could be oxidized only by SO4− radicals indicating that while one-electron reduction potential for semi-oxidized SA may be<1.33V vs. NHE (the Eo1 for N3˙ radical), it is more than 1.33V vs. NHE for semi-oxidized SSA species. A number of amines can be employed for all volatile treatment (AVT) of steam generator (SG) systems of nuclear power reactors. These amines form complexes with Cu2+ and Ni2+ ions which come into water due to corrosion. The redox reactions of a number of Cu(II)-AVT amine complexes and the stability of the transient species formed have been studied by pulse radiolysis technique. Rate constants for the reaction of eaq− with a number of Cu(II)-amine complexes have been determined by following the decay of eaq− absorption. Stability of Cu(I)-amine complexes was studied by following the kinetics of the bleaching signal formed at the λmax of the Cu(II) amine complex. Except for Cu(I)-triethanolamine complex all other Cu(I)-amine complexes were found to be stable. One-electron oxidation of Cu(II) amine complexes was studied using azidyl radicals for the oxidation reaction as OH radicals react with the alcohol groups present in the amines used in this study. Estrogen receptor-α (ER) drives tumor development in ER-positive (ER+) breast cancer. The transcription factor GATA3 has been closely linked to ER function, but its precise role in this setting remains unclear. Quantitative proteomics was used to assess changes to the ER complex in response to GATA3 depletion. Unexpectedly, few proteins were lost from the ER complex in the absence of GATA3, with the only major change being depletion of the dioxygenase TET2. TET2 binding constituted a near-total subset of ER binding in multiple breast cancer models, with loss of TET2 associated with reduced activation of proliferative pathways. TET2 knockdown did not appear to change global methylated cytosine (5mC) levels; however, oxidation of 5mC to 5-hydroxymethylcytosine (5hmC) was significantly reduced, and these events occurred at ER enhancers. Summary Objective A safe and optimal pneumoperitoneal pressure (PP) for laparoscopic renal surgery in infants is difficult to define. In a broad sense, a safe and optimal PP should cause least intraoperative and postoperative physiological stress for the infants and should be optimal for surgeon's technical feasibility. Unfortunately, the safe and optimal PP in infant for transperitoneal laparoscopic surgery has not been established by well validated study. To determine safe and optimal PP for laparoscopic renal surgery (LRS) in infants less than 10 kg. Method In a prospective and randomized setting, between July 2008 and June 2014, 46 infants of <10 kg (Group I, n = 23, PP = 6–8 mmHg and Group II, n = 23, PP = 9–10 mmHg) who underwent LRS, were analyzed. Hemodynamic, respiratory, and blood gas changes were measured at four points: before CO 2 insufflation (T 0 ), 10 min after insufflation (T 1 ), before desufflation (T 2 ) and 10 min after desufflation (T 3 ). Any required adjustments of ventilator parameters were noted. Time to resume feeding and postoperative pain at 1, 6, and 12 h, including requirement for postoperative rescue analgesia, were assessed. Technical feasibility with allocated PP was evaluated by means of successful completion of surgery, duration of surgery, and intraoperative complications. Results At T 1 and T 2 , changes in hemodynamic and respiratory parameters were significantly higher in Group II. At T 3 , most of the parameters statistically restored back to baseline in Group I but not so in Group II. Required adjustments in ventilatory parameters were 14 vs. 25 times in Group I vs. Group II ( p = 0.007, R = 0.552). Mean postoperative pain score, requirement for analgesia, and time to resume feeding were significantly greater in Group II. Surgeries were successfully completed in all the patients in both groups, with comparable duration of surgery and similar intraoperative complications (Table). Conclusion It was found that hemodynamic and respiratory changes were more pronounced with higher pneumoperitoneal pressure in infants for renal laparoscopic surgery. With a PP of 6–8 mmHg, intraoperative accessibility is optimal, and physiological changes are minimal. Interestingly, we found that infants with PP of 6–8 mmHg enjoy smooth and early postoperative recovery. There was no direct objective criterion to assess level of difficulty with allocated PP, which may be considered a limitation of the present study. Pneumoperitoneal pressure of 6–8 mmHg appears to be a safe and optimal range for transperitoneal laparoscopic renal surgery in infants. Abstract: Oxidation rate of silicon was altered by implanting argon (40Ar+) and fluorine (19F+) ions at doses ranging from 5×1013 to 1×1016 ions/cm2 and energies ranging from 20 to 70keV. Silicon wafers were oxidized using a rapid thermal oxidation system to retain post-implant conditions of the wafers until onset of oxidation cycle. Dramatic change in the uniformity of grown oxide was observed as a function of implantation dose and energy. Uniformity was found improving with increased implantation dose, whereas, it deteriorated with increased implantation energy. Two phenomenological models are proposed to explain the improvement in uniformity of the grown oxide films. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Background: A number of surgical approaches have been described for open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) of intra-articular distal humerus (IDH) fractures in adults. However, there is no consensus as to which approach is better in terms of functional outcomes and complications. The purpose of this study was to determine whether the functional outcomes and types and rates of complications are influenced by the choice of surgical approach for ORIF of IDH fractures (AO/OTA types 13 B & C).Methods: A systematic review of literature was performed using the PubMed, EMBASE and Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews databases. Studies, both prospective and retrospective and comparative or non-comparative, dealing with surgical approaches for ORIF of IDH fractures in adult patients were included. Conference abstracts, studies looking primarily at the results of internal fixation rather than the surgical approach, those including extra-articular distal humeral fractures, pediatric distal humeral fractures (<18 years of age), delayed unions, non unions, malunions, cadaveric studies, pathological fractures and studies with <10 patients were excluded. Studies that looked at surgical modalities other than internal fixation (for e.g. total elbow arthroplasty) for intra-articular distal humerus fractures or those that did not report a validated functional outcome scoring system were also excluded.Results: 11 studies were included in the qualitative analysis, of which 5 were comparative studies and 6 were non-comparative. Quantitative analysis was performed on two sets of two studies, each set comparing the Bryan and Morrey or the triceps-split approach to the olecranon osteotomy approach, and revealed no significant differences in the Mayo Elbow Performance Score, range of motion and rates of complications. The overall methodological quality of the studies included in the review was low.Conclusions: High-quality evidence on surgical approaches for ORIF of IDH fractures in adults is lacking. Evidence from low-quality studies indicates that there is no difference in the functional outcomes or complication rates when comparing the Bryan and Morrey or triceps-split to the olecranon osteotomy approach. Centrosomes are the major microtubule-organizing centers in animals and play fundamental roles in many cellular processes. Understanding how their composition varies across diverse cell types and how it is altered in disease are major unresolved questions, yet currently available centrosome isolation protocols are cumbersome and time-consuming, and they lack scalability. Here, we report the development of centrosome affinity capture (CAPture)-mass spectrometry (MS), a powerful one-step purification method to obtain high-resolution centrosome proteomes from mammalian cells. Utilizing a synthetic peptide derived from CCDC61 protein, CAPture specifically isolates intact centrosomes. Importantly, as a bead-based affinity method, it enables rapid sample processing and multiplexing unlike conventional approaches. Our study demonstrates the power of CAPture-MS to elucidate cell-type-dependent heterogeneity in centrosome composition, dissect hierarchical interactions, and identify previously unknown centrosome components. Overall, CAPture-MS represents a transformative tool to unveil temporal, regulatory, cell-type- and tissue-specific changes in centrosome proteomes in health and disease. Ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid (EDTA)- and nitrilo triacetic acid (NTA)-based formulations such as citric acid (CA)/EDTA/ascorbic acid (AA), CA/EDTA/gallic acid (GA), CA/NTA/AA and CA/NTA/GA were used for dissolving magnetite and hematite under similar experimental conditions of temperature, amount of the oxide and the concentration of the formulations (close to stoichiometric conditions). In unirradiated solutions, EDTA-based formulations were more efficient in dissolving these oxides than NTA-based formulations. Similarly, formulations containing AA as reductant gave better results as compared to formulations containing GA as reductant in unirradiated solutions. However, in gamma-irradiated formulations, the efficiency of dissolution was affected to a much greater extent in EDTA and AA containing formulations as compared to NTA and GA containing formulations. The cytokine interleukin-6 (IL6) and its downstream effector STAT3 constitute a key oncogenic pathway, which has been thought to be functionally connected to estrogen receptor α (ER) in breast cancer. We demonstrate that IL6/STAT3 signaling drives metastasis in ER+ breast cancer independent of ER. STAT3 hijacks a subset of ER enhancers to drive a distinct transcriptional program. Although these enhancers are shared by both STAT3 and ER, IL6/STAT3 activity is refractory to standard ER-targeted therapies. Instead, inhibition of STAT3 activity using the JAK inhibitor ruxolitinib decreases breast cancer invasion in vivo.
