33. Stable hydrogen storage of lithium borohydrides via the catalytic effect of Ni2B induced by thermodynamic destabilization reaction.

Abstract

• Porous hollow carbon microspheres composed of carbon-coated Ni nanoparticles are designed to nanoconfine LiBH 4. • The introduction of Ni nanoparticles leads to the decrease of the Gibbs free energy change for H 2 desorption of LiBH 4. • A reversible hydrogen storage capacity of 8.86 wt.% is obtained for nanoconfined LiBH 4 at 320 °C after 10 cycles. Lithium borohydride (LiBH 4) is regarded as a potential hydrogen storage material due to its high gravimetric and volumetric capacity, but its practical application suffers from high operating temperature and poor reversibility. Herein, porous hollow carbon microspheres composed of carbon-coated Ni nanoparticles with high content (denoted as Ni/C) are rationally designed as functional support, which not only induces effective nanoconfinement of LiBH 4 but also promotes efficiently homogeneous destabilization reaction between LiBH 4 and Ni nanoparticles. The introduction of Ni nanoparticles leads to the decrease of the Gibbs free energy change for H 2 desorption of LiBH 4 based on the formation of Ni 2 B down to −0.95 eV while this value reaches 1.19 eV for bulk LiBH 4 , validating the effective role of Ni in thermodynamically destabilizing H 2 desorption. Impressively, the average B–H bond length of LiBH 4 on Ni 2 B reaches 1.291 Å and thus the corresponding dissociation energy of removing one H atom from LiBH 4 is lowered to 1.00 eV, much lower than bulk LiBH 4 (4.22 eV) and even LiBH 4 on Ni (1.27 eV), which verifies superior role of Ni 2 B than Ni in catalytically enhancing H 2 desorption. Therefore, a capacity of 8.86 wt.% is obtained for LiBH 4 confined into Ni/C at 320 °C after 10 cycles. [Display omitted] [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Over-expression of DDX3X mRNA is associated with T cell loss in septic patients. This study aimed to investigate the molecular mechanism of DDX3X on T cell reduction in sepsis. The sepsis model was established using lipopolysaccharide stimulation in vitro and cecal ligation and puncture (CLP) surgery in vivo. Results showed that the expression of DDX3X was significantly upregulated in CD4+ T cells in sepsis. RK-33, the inhibitor of DDX3X, was found to dramatically increase CD4+ T cell counts and prolong the survival rate of mice with sepsis. The results also showed that the expression of caspase-1/GSDMD in CD4+ T cells was significantly increased in vitro and in vivo, and RK-33 can substantially reduce CD4+ T cell pyroptosis through inhibiting NLRP3/caspase-1/GSDMD. Globally, our results suggest that DDX3X is involved in the loss of CD4+ T cells partly through activating the pyroptotic pathway during sepsis, which may provide potential targets for therapeutic interventions in this highly lethal disease. • The expression of DDX3X in spleen CD4 +T cells upregulate in septic mice. • Inhibition of DDX3X by RK-33 alleviates CD4 +T cells loss and improves the prognosis of in Septic Mice. • RK-33 inhibits pyroptosis of CD4 + T cells. Abstract

Few-shot learning is often challenged by low generalization performance due to the model is mostly learned with the base classes only. To mitigate the above issues, a few-shot learning method with representative global prototype is proposed in this paper. Specifically, to enhance generalization to novel class, we propose a strategy for jointly training base and novel classes. This process produces prototypes characterizing the class information called representative global prototypes. Additionally, to avoid the problem of data imbalance and prototype bias caused by newly added categories of sparse samples, a novel sample synthesis method is proposed for augmenting more representative samples of novel class. Finally, representative samples and non-representative samples with high uncertainty are selected to enhance the representational and discriminative abilities of the global prototype. Intensive experiments have been conducted on two popular benchmark datasets, and the experimental results show that this method significantly improves the classification ability of few-shot learning tasks and achieves state-of-the-art performance.
