Abstract

Abstract: We demonstrate a high-contrast, high-intensity double chirped-pulse amplification (CPA) Ti:sapphire laser system using an optical parametric chirped-pulse (OPCPA) pre- amplifier. By injecting cleaned microjoule seed pulses into the OPCPA, a temporal contrast greater than 1010 within picosecond times before the main femtosecond pulse is demonstrated with an output pulse energy of 1.7J and a pulse duration of 30fs, corresponding to a peak power of 60 TW at a 10Hz repetition rate. This system uses a cryogenically-cooled Ti:sapphire final amplifier and generates focused peak intensities in excess of 1020 W/cm2. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract

Abstract: When a thin foil target is irradiated by two laser pulses, or it is irradiated by one pulse under the condition when the charge separation electric field exceeds the laser field, the electron motion in the direction perpendicular to the target surface is suppressed. Electrons can only slide along the foil. Using an analytical model, we describe the new regime of attosecond pulse generation by the relativistic-irradiance short laser pulse interacting with the sliding mirror. Pulses with the duration of few hundred attoseconds can be generated with the conversion efficiency up to few percents. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
