A consensus on ideal features of antibiotic therapy for the treatment of impetigo was appraised by an online Delphi-based method, based on a panel of 61 infectious disease specialists, pediatricians, and dermatologists coordinated by a scientific committee of 5 experts specializing in impetigo management. Full or very high consensus was reached on the 10 statements identified to describe the characteristics of the best hypothetic antibiotic therapy for impetigo together with indications for appropriate antibiotics use. Several criteria have to be considered when selecting topical antibacterial therapy for impetigo. Beyond efficacy and safety, antimicrobial susceptibility and pharmacological characteristics of the agent are essential points. Extravasation injury (EI) is an iatrogenic condition that occurs preferentially in neonatal and pediatric patients when the injection of fluid substances by intravenous access is required and it accidentally leaks into the adjacent tissues or in spaces outside of vascular compartment. Different types and amount of substances once undergoing extravasation can affect the EI differently [1]. In some instances immediate measures such as saline washout, local antidotes, enzymatic debridement and surgical interventions can be required in order to prevent the occurrence of a growing injury avoiding the progression of the EI to a medical emergency [6]. Here we report an unusual case of a preterm 2-month-old male patient in which the extravasation of balanced electrolyte solution on the upper right arm resulted in the development of full-thickness skin necrosis appearing as the clinical condition of necrotizing fasciitis. Skin disinfection with chlorhexidine gluconate has not been standardized in preterm infants. We present 5 cases of chemical burns that occurred within the first 2 days of life in very low birth weight neonates after skin disinfection with aqueous and alcohol-based chlorhexidine solutions. Background: Nail dystrophies in newborns are rare and are particularly frightening when they appear as masses involving a single digit, suggesting the possibility of a tumor. Objective: The aim of this study is to report 3 infants with a congenital pseudoclubbing appearance of a digit and with a reddish discoloration caused by the presence of a subungual hemangioma. Methods: Diagnosis was based on clinical examination and ultrasonography. Results: Clinical presentation and vitrocompression showed the presence of a vascular mass. Ultrasonography confirmed the diagnosis of a subungual hemangioma. The lesions showed a spontaneous regression on follow-up. Conclusion: Localization of hemangioma under the proximal nailfold is extremely rare and produces nail pseudoclubbing caused by capillary vessel proliferation in the soft tissue of the subungual region, which is associated with a reddish discoloration of the nail that typically fades with compression. Hemangiomas of infancy located in the proximal nailfold are rare, and, in our opinion, not at risk to become big masses with tissue damage and compression. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Terra firma-forme dermatosis is an underreported acquired pigmentation disorder caused by keratinocyte retention that is not mentioned in many textbooks. It is characterized by the onset of asymptomatic hyperpigmented patches or velvety plaques potentially involving any part of the body, including the trunk, extremities, and the skin folds such as neck, axilla, inguinal region, and umbilical folds. It affects both sexes equally and all age groups, although it seems more prevalent in children with a mean age of 10.4 years. The prompt regression after rubbing with an alcohol-soaked gauze is diagnostic and curative.
