The associated production of a Higgs boson with a $W$ or $Z$ boson decaying into leptons and where the Higgs boson decays to a $b\bar{b}$ pair is measured in the high vector-boson transverse momentum regime, above 250 GeV, with the ATLAS detector. The analysed data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 139 fb$^{-1}$, were collected in proton-proton collisions at the Large Hadron Collider between 2015 and 2018 at a centre-of-mass energy of $\sqrt{s} = 13$ TeV. The measured signal strength, defined as the ratio of the measured signal yield to that predicted by the Standard Model, is $0.72 ^{+0.39}_{-0.36}$ corresponding to an observed (expected) significance of 2.1 (2.7) standard deviations. Cross-sections of associated production of a Higgs boson decaying into $b$ quark pairs with a $W$ or $Z$ gauge boson, decaying into leptons, are measured in two exclusive vector boson transverse momentum regions, 250-400 GeV and above 400 GeV, and interpreted as constraints on anomalous couplings in the framework of a Standard Model effective field theory., Comment: 49 pages in total, author list starting page 33, 7 figures, 9 tables, published in Phys. In this paper, we investigate the consensus tracking control for a class of heterogeneous multi-agent systems with multiple unknown time-varying control directions and unknown direction actuator faults. Different from existing work, the directions of the multiple time-varying control coefficients are subject to fault-induced sign-switching. To address this challenge, a series of high-order Lyapunov functions and differentiable functions are introduced to avoid non-integrable terms. Then, a novel contradiction statement and some Nussbaum functions are used to handle the summation of multiple unknown control coefficients with time-varying amplitudes and directions. Meanwhile, a novel distributed observer with quantized communication is introduced to track a reference trajectory with unknown dynamics. It is shown that all closed-loop signals are globally uniformly bounded and the tracking errors converge to residual sets that can be made arbitrarily small. This paper focuses on an adaptive fuzzy based dynamic surface sliding mode control (ADSSMC) strategy for multi-machine power systems with SVC. The main characteristics of the proposed ADSSMC strategy are: (1) System robustness and the convergency speed of all surface error are enhanced by combining dynamic surface control with sliding mode, leading to the structural complexity of the controller in backstepping control scheme is eliminated; (2) By introducing an error performance conversion function, the errors of desired trajectory and system output are always within a predetermined range; (3) In the adaptive regulation laws, the number of estimated parameters of the control system is significantly reduced due to the utilization of the estimations of weight vector norm instead of the weight vectors itself. The stability analysis proves that the proposed ADSSMC control strategy can guarantee the boundaries of all signals in the closed-loop control system. In this paper, an output-feedback adaptive control scheme is proposed for a class of multi-input multi-output (MIMO) nonlinear systems, aiming at tolerating unknown actuator faults and unknown sensor faults simultaneously. The number of actuator faults is allowed be infinity, while the sensors may suffer from bias and gain variation all the time. By constructing an auxiliary filter and estimating the bounds of the fault uncertainties, the effects of the faults are successfully compressed. Also, the difficulty related to the high-frequency gain matrix is circumvented by introducing a matrix factorization and a similarity transformation. The proposed scheme is able to ensure that all closed-loop signals are globally uniformly bounded and the tracking error converges to a residual set exponentially. Abstract This paper proposes a dynamic path planning and trajectory tracking algorithm for an autonomous satellite, released from the space station, to get to the desired position for performing space tasks. The complex construction of the space station results in the presence of a geometric channel constraint for the obstacles avoidance. In addition, a three dimension B-spline template with minimizing the curvature of the path is designed, which could guarantee the continuity of the curvature to make the trajectory smooth and avoid the satellite from stopping at discontinuities waypoints. Then, the reference states and inputs are solved by a new projection method, which provides a foundation for the subsequent trajectory tracking. Subsequently, a finite horizon model predictive control method is constructed for the path tracking. The benefits of this approach are to take constraints into consideration, and to get optimal performance by minimizing the fuel consumption compared with other tracking controllers. The closed-loop stability is guaranteed by the feedback controller, terminal penalty, and a newly terminal constraint set. In simulation experiments, results illustrate the effectiveness and practicality of the algorithm. Abstract In this paper, a novel event-triggered adaptive fault-tolerant control scheme is proposed for a class of nonlinear systems with unknown actuator faults. Multiplicative faults and additive faults are taken into account simultaneously, both of which may vary with time. Different from existing results, our controller fuses static reliability information and dynamic online information, which is helpful to enhance the fault-tolerant capability. With the aid of an event-triggering mechanism, an actuator switching strategy and a bound estimation approach, the communication burden is significantly reduced and the impacts of the actuator faults as well as the network-induced error are effectively compensated for. Moreover, by employing the prescribed performance control technique, the system tracking error can converge to a predefined arbitrarily small residual set with prescribed convergence rate and maximum overshoot, which implies that the proposed scheme is able to ensure rapid and accurate tracking. In this paper, a decentralized output-feedback adaptive control scheme is proposed for a class of interconnected nonlinear systems with input quantization. Both logarithmic quantizers and improved hysteretic quantizers are studied, and a linear time-varying model is introduced to handle the difficulty caused by quantization. The proposed scheme allows the parameters of the quantizers to be freely changed during operation, and can guarantee global stability of the overall closed-loop system regardless of the coarseness of the quantizers and the existence of interactions among subsystems. Moreover, with the aid of a kind of high-gain K-filters, it is shown that all tracking errors converge to a residual set which can be made arbitrarily small by adjusting some design parameters. The effect of temperature on the flotation behavior of sodium oleate on the surface of diaspore was investigated by using molecular dynamics (MD) simulations at three selected temperatures of 278.15 K, 303.15 K and 328.15 K. Conformational analysis, RDF analysis, hydrogen bonds statistics, SASA calculations and interaction energy analysis revealed that a certain range of temperature increase was beneficial for flotation, and the right temperature could yield better reagent dispersion and better mineral-reagent interactions. It was also noted that the enhanced molecular motion due to increased temperature may negatively affect the adsorption of the reagent on the mineral surface. The present study has theoretical implications for the effect of temperature on the flotation behavior of ionic surfactants on mineral surfaces. • The effect of temperature on flotation was studied by molecular dynamics. • Different temperatures showed different performances of sodium oleate in collecting diaspore. • A suitable temperature could make the sodium oleate better dispersed and distributed. • Higher temperature did not necessarily lead to a better flotation environment. In this paper, a decentralized output-feedback adaptive backstepping control scheme is proposed for a class of interconnected nonlinear systems with unknown actuator failures. By introducing a kind of high-gain K -filters, a bound estimation approach and some smooth functions, the effect of actuator failures and interactions among subsystems is successfully compensated for and the actuators are allowed to change among the normal operation case and different failure cases infinitely many times. The proposed scheme is able to guarantee the global stability of the overall closed-loop system, regardless of the possibly infinite number of unknown actuator failures. An initialization technique is also introduced so that the L ∞ performance of tracking errors can be adjusted no matter if there exist unknown actuator failures. In this paper, an adaptive cooperative tracking control scheme is proposed for a class of high-order nonlinear time-varying multi-agent systems, where only the output of the leader is available for some followers. By introducing a bound estimation approach and a smooth function, the obstacle caused by unknown time-varying parameters is successfully circumvented without any restriction on their variation speed. With the aid of the dynamic surface control technique, simple distributed adaptive controllers are obtained and each follower needs only the first two states rather than the full states of its neighbor followers, which considerably reduces the computational and communication burden. It is shown that all tracking errors converge to a residual set which can be made arbitrarily small. Simulation results on robotic manipulators are presented to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed scheme. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this paper, a decentralized adaptive backstepping control scheme is proposed for a class of interconnected nonlinear systems with unknown actuator failures. By introducing a smooth function, some integrable auxiliary signals and a bound estimation approach, the effect of actuator failures is successfully compensated for. The proposed scheme has the following features: (1) the total number of failures is allowed to be infinite; (2) global stability of the overall closed-loop system is achieved without any bound knowledge of uncertainties; (3) all system outputs converge to zero asymptotically regardless of the possibly infinite number of failures and the unknown interactions among subsystems. 17. Postoperative Adjuvant Chemotherapy for Stage II Colorectal Cancer: A Systematic Review of 12 Randomized Controlled Trials.

Background: The impact of postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy on the oncological outcomes for stage II colorectal cancer remains controversial. Methods: The literature was searched for studies published between 1985 and 2010 in which patients with stage II colorectal cancer were randomly assigned to receive either surgery combined with postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy or surgery alone. End points included 5-year overall survival, 5-year disease-free survival, recurrence, and mortality. Results: A significant improvement in 5-year overall survival was associated with surgery combined with postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy for stage II colon cancer (hazard ratio, 0.81; 95% confidence interval (CI), 0.71-0.91) and for stage II rectal cancer (hazard ratio, 0.72; 95% CI, 0.61-0.86). The 5-year disease-free survival also favored the group of surgery combined with postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy for stage II colon cancer (hazard ratio, 0.86; 95% CI, 0.75-0.98) and for stage II rectal cancer (hazard ratio, 0.34; 95% CI, 0.22-0.51). For stage II colon cancer, a significant reduction in risk of recurrence was found in favor of postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy (risk ratio, 0.82; 95% CI, 0.71-0.95). Conclusions: Postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy for stage II colorectal cancer appears to be associated with improved 5-year overall survival and 5-year disease-free survival, and reduction in risk of recurrence. Multivariable adaptive control with less prior information of the high-frequency gain matrix (HFGM) is a longstanding problem of both theoretical and practical importance. In this paper, a solution is presented by proposing a novel output-feedback adaptive backstepping control scheme. Our scheme only requires the leading principal minors of the HFGM to be nonzero and allows their signs to be unknown, which significantly relaxes the assumptions on the HFGM in conventional multivariable adaptive control schemes. To cope with the unknown signs, we propose novel Nussbaum functions with some nice properties and construct periodical intervals in which the effects of the multiple Nussbaum functions reinforce rather than counteract each other. With these efforts, global stability of the closed-loop system and asymptotical convergence to zero of the tracking error are successfully achieved. The use of plasticizers is crucial in enhancing the flexibility of engineering plastics. Currently, the primary plasticizers employed in poly(vinyl chloride) materials are nonrenewable phthalates. These exhibit a detrimental impact on the environment and human health owing to their toxic benzene ring structure. Consequently, the development of easily synthesizable, green plasticizers with excellent properties using biobased resources has been a long-standing objective in the field of resin plasticizing. Herein, we synthesized a branched lactic acid ester (BLAE) plasticizer using esterification and acid anhydride end-capping methods. Further, we investigated its application performance and oral toxicity. The abundance of polar ester groups in the oligolactic acid structure enables them to form secondary bonds with polymer chains. This results in a glass transition temperature is 59% less than that of pure poly(vinyl chloride), thereby improving the mechanical properties of the material. The addition of the BLAE plasticizer not only improved the thermal stability of the compound film but also effectively reduced the self-catalytic dehydrochlorination reaction of poly(vinyl chloride). This overcomes the limitations of unmodified poly(vinyl chloride), such as performance deterioration and color variation due to light exposure. Furthermore, the hydrophobicity of the compound film was substantially enhanced, resulting in outstanding antifouling and self-cleaning properties. These findings suggest that lactic acid-based plasticizer exhibits comparable or even superior overall performance when compared to commercially available plasticizers such as dioctyl phthalate and acetyl tributyl citrate. This work not only addresses the gap in the toxicity assessment of lactic acid plasticizers but also demonstrates their nontoxic characteristics in acute oral toxicity tests. This research offers novel insights into the green synthesis and functional development of biobased plasticizers, showcasing considerable potential for the substituting of dioctyl phthalate. Secure guidance for missiles against cyber-attacks is an interesting topic of both theoretical and practical importance, but so far few results are available. In this paper, two multivariable secure guidance laws are proposed for precise strikes interceptors with cyber-attacks in guidance commands. Different engagement scenarios are studied in three-dimensional space. Against highly maneuvering targets, the proposed secure guidance law can guarantee some states related to the line-of-sight (LOS) angular rates to converge to zero within finite time, where the cyber-attacks are indirectly estimated and compensated with the aid of an attack observer. Moreover, against non-maneuvering targets with impact angle constraints, the proposed secure guidance law is designed based on the backstepping technique, where the cyber-attacks are directly estimated and compensated. Particularly, prescribed performance functions are introduced in the second guidance law to flexibly determine the convergence rates of the LOS angles. In this paper, an observer-based fault-tolerant control scheme is proposed for the attitude stabilization of rigid spacecraft in the presence of actuator fault, configuration misalignment, input saturation and even external disturbances simultaneously. More specifically, an iterative learning observer is firstly developed to estimate the torque deviation and steer the estimation errors into some small residual sets. And also the detailed derivations of the observer are provided, along with a thorough analysis for the associated ultimate bounded stability and estimation error convergence property. Then, an integral-type sliding mode control law is designed to produce the three-axis virtual control signals with the desired performance for being distributed among the individual actuators. Under this, a robust control allocation algorithm is developed to map the virtual control demand onto individual actuator in an optimal manner, which takes into account the estimation uncertainties and ensures some fault-tolerant ability. The key feature of the proposed strategies is that the whole closed-loop fault tolerant control system can be guaranteed theoretically to be stable by the development of Lyapunov methodology. This paper addresses the control problem of air-breathing hypersonic vehicles subject to input nonlinearities, aerodynamic uncertainties and flexible modes. An adaptive backstepping controller and a dynamic inverse controller are developed for the altitude subsystem and the velocity subsystem, respectively, where the former eliminates the problem of “explosion of terms” inherent in backstepping control. Moreover, a modified smooth inverse of the dead-zone is proposed to compensate for the dead-zone effects and reduce the computational burden. Based on this smooth inverse, an input nonlinear pre-compensator is designed to handle input saturation and dead-zone nonlinearities, which leads to a simpler control design for the altitude subsystem subject to these two input nonlinearities. It is proved that the proposed controllers can guarantee that all closed-loop signals are bounded and the tracking errors converge to an arbitrarily small residual set. In order to better regionalize and discuss the rationality/irrationality of the spatial patterns China’ food provision, food production and population data was collected and GIS spatial analysis and modeling methods were used. Multi-level spatial analysis and contrast between North and South China was carried out from three aspects: (1) Ecosystem food provision potential (EFPP). Step-by-step-modifying models were constructed to assess EFPP, parameters including solar radiation, temperature, humidity, topography, soil, and landuse. (2) Conversion ratio of the EFPP (CRFP), representing the ratio of actual food production to the EFPP. High EFPP and low CRFP means high remaining food potential for future exploration (or protecting, increasing). (3) Population pressure of food provision (PPFP). PPFP was calculated based on food production, population, nutrition ingredient, and consumption standards. High PPFP means food deficiency. Results : (1) The EFPP in South and Southeast China is much higher than in the North regions, while the CRFP is the opposite; this means the South and Southeast China has more remaining food potential to explore (or to protect). CRFP in Northeast China is the highest (81%), indicating the food provision in Northeast China is approaching its maximum potential. In the future it is not wise to rely solely on food provision increases in North China, which may aggravate some problems like water shortage and ecosystem deterioration. (2) PPFP in the South and Southeast of China is much greater than in the North and has been rising, indicating that South and Southeast China have deficiency in food supply and is more and more dependent on food transportation from North China. It is necessary to preserve the fertile and high-yielding croplands as well as reclaim new food resources in the southern and eastern to improve its food self-sufficiency. From the above results, we can derive that the “North Grain to South” (NGS) pattern of China is irrational. This is in opposition to the present pattern of NGS but consistent with some other studies of domain experts, who also claim the NGS pattern may need adjustment. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
