To achieve low-cost photocatalytic hydrogen (H 2) production, it is necessary to develop low-priced transition metal co-catalysts to replace the roles of noble metals for photocatalytic H 2 evolution. Herein, a co-catalyst of Mo-doped CoS x (Mo-CoS x) was synthesized by using the hydrothermal procedure, then attached to g-C 3 N 4 to construct a composite photocatalyst. As a co-catalyst, Mo-CoS x can work as an electron acceptor, it is utilized to receive electrons generated by g-C 3 N 4 photocatalyst on the surface of the catalyst, and inhibit the recombination of those electrons, thus showing enhanced charge transfer ability as well as reduction ability. The optimized Mo-CoS x /g-C 3 N 4 delivered a prominent photocatalytic H 2 evolution rate of 2062.4 μmol h−1 g−1, which was ∼193 times higher than g-C 3 N 4. Its AQE at 400 nm and 420 nm were 11.05% and 6.83%, respectively. This work provides a novel non-precious metal co-catalyst/g-C 3 N 4 photocatalyst that is expected to be an acceptable cost route to solar energy conversion. Sandwich-like mesoporous GS@Fe 3 O 4 @C nanosheets with a 2D nanoarchitecture have been successfully synthesized by one-step solvothermal treatment. Such type of 2D nanoarchitecture is made up of a number of Fe 3 O 4 nanoparticles uniformly grown on a graphene sheet and an even amorphous carbon layer covering on their surface. The Li-cycling properties of GS@Fe 3 O 4 @C nanosheets have been evaluated by galvanostatic discharge-charge cycling and impedance spectroscopy. Results indicate that the GS@Fe 3 O 4 @C nanosheets with about 5 wt % of graphene content provides a very high discharge capacity of 913.2 mAh g −1 at a current densities of 200 mA g −1 after 100 cycles and reveals a stable discharge capacity of 483.2 mAh g −1 at a rate of 1600 mA g −1 . In this work, a captivating S-scheme CuBi 2 O 4 /CoV 2 O 6 heterojunction was innovatively constructed by in situ growing CoV 2 O 6 nanoparticles on the surface of CuBi 2 O 4 microrods. Of note, the unique CuBi 2 O 4 microrods served as an outstanding substrate to achieve the uniform loading of CoV 2 O 6 nanoparticles. Compared with neat CoV 2 O 6 and CuBi 2 O 4 , as expected, the resulting CuBi 2 O 4 /CoV 2 O 6 illustrated significantly boosted photocatalytic efficiency for degrading tetracycline (TC) under visible light illumination. More impressively, the optimized CuBi 2 O 4 (30 wt%)/CoV 2 O 6 manifested the best TC removal rate of 0.01328 min−1 after 120 min of reaction, which was roughly 33.2 and 14.4 times larger than those of neat CoV 2 O 6 and CuBi 2 O 4 , separately. Such an exceptional photocatalytic activity was mainly ascribed to the expedited the charge spatial detachment and transport, and synchronously reserved the strong redox ability driven by the established S-scheme heterojunction between CoV 2 O 6 and CuBi 2 O 4. Moreover, the reactive species scavenging tests and electron spin resonance analysis substantiated that the superoxide radicals combined with photogenerated holes were unquestionably responsible for removing TC. Eventually, the possible degradation mechanism and pathways of TC over CuBi 2 O 4 /CoV 2 O 6 were also put forward. Coating a protective agent or promoter on the surface of the photocatalyst is a proven good strategy to realize photocatalytic hydrogen production from pure water, but remains still a considerable challenge. Herein, a novel CdS@Mg(OH) 2 core/shell composite nanorods photocatalyst was synthesized by coating Mg(OH) 2 on CdS surface by hydrothermal and precipitation processes. The coated-Mg(OH) 2 layer did not change the structure of CdS, and the photocatalytic overall water splitting performance of the CdS@Mg(OH) 2 under visible light irradiation was improved obviously. After loading nano-Pt via the photodeposited method, the hydrogen production rate and stability of Pt/CdS@Mg(OH) 2 were 3.3 and 2.4 times that of the Pt/CdS under the visible light irradiation, respectively. The surface Mg(OH) 2 layer improved the hydrophilicity and stability of the core/shell composites and increased the amount of active sites, thus improving the photocatalytic properties. Rational design of high-efficiency heterostructure photocatalyst is an effective strategy to realize photocatalytic H 2 evolution from pure water, but remains still a considerable challenge. Herein, an anatase/rutile TiO 2 /g-C 3 N 4 (A/R/CN) multi-heterostructure photocatalyst was prepared by a facile thermoset hybrid method. The combination of two type-II semiconductor heterostructures (i.e., A/R and R/CN) significantly improve the separation and transfer efficiency of photogenerated carriers of anatase TiO 2 , rutile TiO 2 and g-C 3 N 4 , and A/R/CN photocatalyst with high activity is obtained. The optimal A/R/CN photocatalyst exhibits significantly increased photocatalytic overall water splitting activity with a rate of H 2 evolution of 374.2 μmol g−1h−1, which is about 8 and 4 times that of pure g-C 3 N 4 and P25. Moreover, it is demonstrated to be stable and retained a high activity (ca. 91.2%) after the fourth recycling experiment. This work comes up with an innovative perspective on the construction of multi-heterostructure interfaces to improve the overall photocatalytic water splitting performance. Photocatalytic elimination of antibiotic pollutant is an appealing avenue in response to the water contamination, but it still suffers from sluggish charge detachment, limited redox capacity as well as poor visible light utilization. Herein, a particular S-scheme FeOOH/MgIn 2 S 4 heterojunction with wide visible light absorption was triumphantly constructed by in-situ growth of MgIn 2 S 4 nanoparticles onto the surface of FeOOH nanorods, and employed as a high-efficiency visible light driven photocatalyst for removing tetracycline (TC). Conspicuously, the as-obtained FeOOH(15 wt%)/MgIn 2 S 4 elucidated the optimal TC removal rate of 0.01258 min−1 after 100 min of visible light illumination, which was almost 33.1 and 6.6 times larger than those of neat FeOOH and MgIn 2 S 4 , separately. The exceptional degradation performance was principally put down to the establishment of S-scheme heterojunction between FeOOH and MgIn 2 S 4 , which could not merely accelerate the detachment of photogenerated carriers, but also retain the powerful reducing ability of photoinduced electrons for MgIn 2 S 4 and high oxidizing capacity of photoexcited holes for FeOOH, strongly driving the generation of plentiful active species including holes, superoxide and hydroxyl radicals. In this work, a novel fluorine-free anti-smudge non-isocyanate polyurethanes (NIPU) coating system was developed by using pentaerythritol glycidyl ether-based cyclic carbonate (PGC)/ single-end cyclic carbonate poly (dimethysiloxane) (PDMS-C) and ethylene imine polymer (PEI). The PDMS-C was used as a liquid-repellent agent to endow NIPU coatings with low surface energy and PEI as curing agent to form high crosslinking density in the NIPU coating matrix. The surface roughness of NIPU film with 0.5 wt% PDMS-C was only 0.387 nm as well as the optical transmittance of the film was more than 98.5%. It also found that NIPU coatings with 0.5 wt% PDMS-C exhibited striking liquid (hexadecane, pump oil, water, milk, corn oil, fingerprint fluid and cola) repellency, and the dust could slide down with water, and there are no residual traces of dust and water on the surface of the coating, indicating the NIPU coatings displayed excellent self-cleaning performance. Besides, these NIPU coatings showed striking inhibit ink deposition, they could maintain anti-ink performance after 5000 abrasion cycles, indicating the NIPU coatings possessed excellent mechanical properties and practical application availability. • A single-end cyclic carbonate poly (dimethysiloxane) (PDMS-C) was prepared by single-end epoxy poly (dimethysiloxane). • a novel non-isocyanate polyurethanes (NIPU) coating prepared by PDMS-C exhibited excellent anti-smudge properties. • The NIPU coatings showed striking inhibit ink deposition.
