Advances in the development of anti-tumour drugs and related technologies have resulted in a significant increase in the number of cancer survivors. However, the incidence of chemotherapy-induced cardiotoxicity (CIC) has been rising continuously, threatening their long-term survival. The integration of nanotechnology and biomedicine has brought about an unprecedented technological revolution and has promoted the progress of anti-tumour therapy. In this review, we summarised the possible mechanisms of CIC, evaluated the role of nanoparticles (including liposomes, polymeric micelles, dendrimers, and hydrogels) as drug carriers in preventing cardiotoxicity and proposed five advantages of nanotechnology in reducing cardiotoxicity: Liposomes cannot easily penetrate the heart's endothelial barrier; optimized delivery strategies reduce distribution in important organs, such as the heart; targeting the tumour microenvironment and niche; stimulus-responsive polymer nano-drug carriers rapidly iterate; better economic benefits were obtained. Nanoparticles can effectively deliver chemotherapeutic drugs to tumour tissues, while reducing the toxicity to heart tissues, and break through the dilemma of existing chemotherapy to a certain extent. It is important to explore the interactions between the physicochemical properties of nanoparticles and optimize the highly specific tumour targeting strategy in the future.

Iron-based layered double hydroxides (LDHs) have drawn tremendous attention as a promising peroxymonosulfate (PMS) activators, but they still suffer from low efficiencies limited by electrostatic agglomeration and low electronic conductivity. Herein, a MgFeAl layered double hydroxide/carbonitride (LDH/CN) heterostructure was constructed via triggering the interlayer reaction of citric acid (CA) and urea. CA as a structure-directing agent regulated the interlayer anion of MgFeAl-LDH, which enabled an interfacial tuning in the process of coupling with CN. AlN ceramic substrates (c-AlN), with excellent thermal conductivity, were used to deposit high-quality polycrystalline CdZnTe (CZT) thick films for the first time. Meanwhile, AlN transition layers, made by magnetron sputtering method, have been introduced and annealed to modulate the interface properties of CZT/c-AlN composite structures for UV photodetectors. The relationship between the structure as well as performance of CZT films and the anneal temperature of AlN transition layers was studied by SEM, XRD, EDS, UV–vis spectra, XPS and current–voltage (I-V) characteristic. The CZT films deposited on the AlN transition layer annealed at 1200 °C have the best properties, with the full width at half maximum (FWHM) and leakage current of 0.163°and 2.15 × 10−9 A, respectively. The interface regulation can effectively promote the crystallinity of CZT films and lead to optimum UV detection performance of CZT/AlN composite structures.

Enzyme-induced carbonate precipitation (EICP) is an economical and eco-friendly technology. The purpose of this study is to evaluate EICP technology for the control of coal dust pollution in open-pit coal mines. A biological dust suppressant was prepared by using urease extracted from soybean. The optimal proportion of biological dust suppressant was determined and the dust consolidation effect of biological dust suppressant was evaluated. The results show that when the volume ratio of urease and CaCl2-urea solution is 1: 3 and the concentration of CaCl2-urea solution is 0.6 mol/L, the precipitation ratio (PR) (83.83%) in coal dust is the highest. Moreover, the mineralization product is calcite-type CaCO3. In the wind erosion-resistance test, when the angle between the air flow and the sample is 0° and the concentration of CaCl2-urea is 0.6 mol/L, the weight loss of coal dust is 2.56%. The corrosive and toxicological properties of biological dust suppressant show that it is non-toxic, less corrosive and weakly alkaline (pH = 7.70). The above results indicate that EICP is a promising coal dust control technology.
