This study aimed to identify preoperative and postoperative risk factors of venous thromboembolism (VTE) after gastrectomy in gastric cancer (GC) patients.757 GC patients underwent gastrectomy at our institution and 246 patients with elevated postoperative D-dimer levels who received Doppler ultrasonography of lower/upper extremity veins were enrolled. Clinicopathological factors data were collected, and the differences in clinicopathological factors between postoperative VTE (+) and VTE (-) groups were analyzed. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were performed to identify independent risk factors of postgastrectomy VTE.Of 246 patients with elevated postgastrectomy D-dimer concentrations, 74 patients showed thrombosis in lower/upper extremity veins. Among preoperative factors, age, WBC level, D-dimer concentration, and blood glucose level were significantly higher in the postoperative VTE (+) group. Among the postoperative factors, hemoglobin level was significantly lower in the postoperative VTE (+) group. Among the pathological factors, tumor stage, depth of invasion and TNM classification indicated higher malignancy in the postoperative VTE (+) group. Univariate logistic regression analysis indicated age, preoperative blood glucose level, postoperative hemoglobin level, tumor stage, depth of invasion, and TNM classification as the independent risk factors for postgastrectomy VTE, whereas multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed age and tumor stage as independent risk factors for postgastrectomy VTE.Our study revealed that age, preoperative blood glucose level, postoperative anemia, and tumor malignancy were independent risk factors for GC patients exhibiting postgastrectomy VTE. Therefore, the perioperative monitoring, assessment and management of risk factors are important in achieving better outcomes after gastrectomy.

We explored the association of respiratory and cardiometabolic comorbidities with NSCLC overall survival (OS) and lung cancer-specific survival (LCSS), by stage, in a large, multicontinent NSCLC pooled data set.On the basis of patients pooled from 11 International Lung Cancer Consortium studies with available respiratory and cardiometabolic comorbidity data, adjusted hazard ratios (aHRs) were estimated using Cox models for OS. LCSS was evaluated using competing risk Grey and Fine models and cumulative incidence functions. Logistic regression (adjusted OR [aOR]) was applied to assess factors associated with surgical resection.OS analyses used patients with NSCLC with respiratory health or cardiometabolic health data (N = 16,354); a subset (n = 11,614) contributed to LCSS analyses. In stages I to IIIA NSCLC, patients with respiratory comorbidities had worse LCCS (stage IA aHR = 1.51, confidence interval [CI]: 1.17-1.95; stages IB-IIIA aHR = 1.20, CI: 1.06-1.036). In contrast, patients with stages I to IIIA NSCLC with cardiometabolic comorbidities had a higher risk of death from competing (non-NSCLC) causes (stage IA aHR = 1.34, CI: 1.12-1.69). The presence of respiratory comorbidities was inversely associated with having surgical resection (stage IA aOR = 0.54, CI: 0.35-0.83; stages IB-IIIA aOR = 0.57, CI: 0.46-0.70).The presence of either cardiometabolic or respiratory comorbidities is associated with worse OS in stages I to III NSCLC. Patients with respiratory comorbidities were less likely to undergo surgery and had worse LCSS, whereas patients with cardiometabolic comorbidities had a higher risk of death from competing causes. As more treatment options for stages I to III NSCLC are introduced into the practice, accounting for cardiometabolic and respiratory comorbidities becomes essential in trial interpretation and clinical management.

Using oxygen in the air as the sole oxidant to oxidize hydrocarbons into high value-added compounds is a highly promising synthesis strategy with economic advantages. However, the oxidation of hydrocarbons with molecular oxygen under mild conditions is challenging due to the large C-H bond energy in hydrocarbons. Herein, a metal-free two-dimensional covalent organic polymers (COP) functionalized by photoactive pyridinium units has been developed for heterogeneous photocatalytic oxidation of hydrocarbons. This is the first kind of COPs material that can achieve photocatalytic oxidation of hydrocarbons without any additives or stoichiometric oxidants except for the oxygen in the air.

Lupus anticoagulants (LA) increase the risk of thrombotic and obstetric events in patients with antiphospholipid syndrome than in those with other antiphospholipid antibodies. Anti-phosphatidylserine/prothrombin (aPS/PT) complex antibodies are thought to cause LA positivity. Therefore, we aimed to explore whether aPS/PT antibodies could prolong phospholipid (PL)-dependent clotting time and increase the risk of thrombosis or pregnancy complications based on LA positivity.We recruited 222 patients with positive LA and estimated their aPS/PT, anticardiolipin (aCL), anti-β2-glycoprotein I (aβ2GPI), and anti-β2GPI domain I (anti-D1) antibody (IgM and IgG) titers and PL-dependent clotting time.PT was longer in aPS/PT IgG-positive patients than in aPS/PT IgM-negative patients (P0.001), while there was no significant difference between aPS/PT IgM-positive and IgM-negative patients (P = 0.100). Both SCT-S and dRVVT-S were prolonged in aPS/PT (IgG and IgM)-positive patients compared to aPS/PT-negative patients (P0.001, P = 0.010, P0.001, P = 0.002, respectively). Similarly, the associations between aPS/PT IgG or IgM antibody titers and SCT-S or dRVVT-S were significant. SCT-C and dRVVT-C did not show any significant differences. The incidence of thrombosis in the aPS/PT IgG-positive group was much higher than that in the IgG-negative group (P = 0.012). Likewise, the incidence of thrombosis was higher in the anti-D1- and aPS/PT IgG-positive patients than in the negative controls (40% vs. 14.3%, χThe aPS/PT antibodies prolonged PL-dependent clotting time, especially SCT-S and dRVVT-S. In addition, the presence of aPS/PT IgG antibodies increased the risk of thrombosis in LA positivity.

To extend the contemporary understanding into the grain yield heterosis of wheat, the current study investigated the contribution of deleterious alleles in shaping mid-parent heterosis (MPH). These alleles occur at low frequency in the genome and are often missed by automated genotyping platforms like SNP arrays. The deleterious alleles herein were detected using a quantitative measurement of evolutionary conservation based on the phylogeny of wheat and investigations were made to: (1) assess the benefit of including deleterious alleles into MPH prediction models and (2) understand the genetic underpinnings of deleterious SNPs for grain yield MPH using contrasting crosses viz. elite × elite (Exp. 1) and elite × plant genetic resources (PGR; Exp. 2). In our study, we found a lower allele frequency of moderately deleterious alleles in elites compared to PGRs. This highlights the role of purifying selection for the development of elite wheat cultivars. It was shown that deleterious alleles are informative for MPH prediction models: modelling their additive-by-additive effects in Exp. 1 and dominance as well as associated digenic epistatic effects in Exp. 2 significantly boosts prediction accuracies of MPH. Furthermore, heterotic- quantitative trait loci’s underlying MPH was investigated and their properties were contrasted in the two crosses. Conclusively, it was proposed that incomplete dominance of deleterious alleles contributes to grain yield heterosis in elite crosses (Exp. 1).

The distributed formation tracking with preview information is investigated for discrete-time heterogeneous linear multi-agent systems (MASs) over directed communication networks. Firstly, by constructing an augmented system containing virtual regulation output and previewable information, the original problem is converted into a state regulation problem. Secondly, due to the coupling restriction of the eigenvalues of the exosystem matrix and the communication topology matrix, a linear distributed observer is proposed by introducing two extra parameters to realize asymptotic estimation. Using the output information of the observer, the problem was further formulated in the form of feedforward output regulation. Moreover, by solving the output regulation problem, the sufficient conditions are deduced for ensuring the achievement of the formation preview tracking. Meanwhile, numerical simulations show that the distributed design with preview actions has positive effect on the improvement of the transient response.
