Background TSAs are common side effects among cancer pts undergoing chemotherapy and may lead to inadequate dietary intake and reduced quality of life. Here, we investigate the incidence of multiple components of self-reported TSAs and its etiological determinants in a homogeneous group of pts with stage II-III CC. Methods We used data collected in an ongoing observational study within the Prospective Dutch Colorectal Cancer Cohort, designed to study nutritional factors and oncological outcomes. Pts receive questionnaires on dietary intake by food-frequency questionnaire (past month average intake), dietary supplement use and TSAs at diagnosis (T0), and at 6, 12, 24 months post-diagnosis. Here, we selected pts with stage II-III CC, with completed T6 questionnaires and available clinical data. Results We included 87/468 pts for analysis (updated for ESMO) with a mean age 64.0±7.6 years, 70% male and 70% current/former smokers. Adjuvant chemotherapy (ACT), received by 52% of pts, consisted of CAPOX (90%), FOLFOX (5%), or CAP (5%) as initial regimen. TSAs were reported at T0 (4% of pts) and at T6 (32% of pts). TSA presence was significantly related to receiving ACT (RR 13.8, 95%CI: 3.5-54.3), but not to age, sex, education and smoking status. ACT treated pts more often reported a change in taste ability (49%, p Conclusions TSAs are more prevalent in CC pts who received ACT compared to pts who did not, with taste more affected than smell. Pts had caloric intake below guideline recommendations at T6. The influence of TSAs on caloric intake appears to be limited when caloric intake is already insufficient. More pts, follow-up, and data on macronutrients and quality of life are needed to confirm and enrich these preliminary findings and ultimately help improve supportive care. International audience; Newcastle disease (ND) and avian influenza (AI) are issues of interest to avian producers in Madagascar. Newcastle disease virus (NDV) is the major constraint for village aviculture, and avian influenza viruses type A (AIAV) are known to circulate in bird flocks. This study aims at classifying smallholder poultry farms, according to the combination of risk factors potentially associated with NDV and AIAV transmission and to assess the level of infection for each farm class. Two study sites, Lake Alaotra and Grand Antananarivo, were chosen with respect to their differences in terms of agro-ecological features and poultry productions. A typology survey involving 526 farms was performed to identify possible risk factors for (i) within-village, and (ii) between-village virus transmission. A cross-sectional serological study was also carried out in 270 farms to assess sero-prevalences of NDV and AIAV for each farm class and the link between them and risk factor patterns. For within-village transmission, four classes of farms were identified in Grand Antananarivo and five in Lake Alaotra. For between-village virus transmission, four classes of farms were identified for each site. In both sites, NOV sero-prevalence was higher than for AIAV. There was no evidence of the presence of H5 or H7 subtypes of AIAV. Resume Les mecanismes responsables de la sarcopenie (fonte de la masse musculaire avec l’âge) restent mal connus. Le primum movens semble etre une moindre reponse anabolique du muscle a la prise alimentaire. Cette derniere peut etre liee a une moindre disponibilite systemique en acides amines, en rapport avec une augmentation de leur utilisation par les territoires splanchniques. Cette sequestration splanchnique peut etre saturee par l’augmentation des apports proteiques (globaux ou d’acides amines particulierement concernes), par une modification du rythme des apports, ou encore par l’utilisation de proteines rapidement digestibles. Alternativement (ou de facon complementaire), l’anomalie pourrait sieger au niveau musculaire par diminution des stimuli anaboliques (insuline, GH, testosterone…) ou par augmentation des agents cataboliques (cortisol, cytokines pro-inflammatoires…).
