Cloud computing has brought about a transformation in the delivery model of information technology from a product to a service. It has enabled the availability of various software, platforms and infrastructural resources as scalable services on demand over the internet. However, the performance of cloud computing services is hampered due to their inherent vulnerability to failures owing to the scale at which they operate. It is possible to utilize cloud computing services to their maximum potential only if the performance related issues of reliability, availability, and throughput are handled effectively by cloud service providers. Therefore, fault tolerance becomes a critical requirement for achieving high performance in cloud computing. This paper presents a comprehensive overview of fault tolerance-related issues in cloud computing; emphasizing upon the significant concepts, architectural details, and the state-of-art techniques and methods. The objective is to provide insights into the existing fault tolerance approaches as well as challenges yet required to be overcome. The survey enumerates a few promising techniques that may be used for efficient solutions and also, identifies important research directions in this area.

Background: Although conventional 60 mg of prasugrel allows for rapid and potent platelet inhibition within 30 min after loading dose, the efficacy and safety of lower doses of prasugrel in Indian patients has not yet been investigated. Objective: The study sought to compare the efficacy of a lower loading dose of prasugrel with conventional loading dose of prasugrel in Indian patients. Material and methods: Three hundred thirty-two Indian patients undergoing elective percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) were enrolled in the study. Participants were randomly administered loading doses of prasugrel 60 mg (group A, n = 166) or 30 mg (group B, n = 166) before undergoing elective PCI in a 1:1 manner. Primary efficacy end point was composite of in-hospital death and stent thrombosis at 96 h, while safety end point was in-hospital bleeding. Results: The two groups did not differ in their baseline characteristics. The primary efficacy end point was 0.6% in both the conventional 60 mg loading dose (LD) and lower 30 mg LD groups (p = not significant). Minor bleeding was significantly less in group B [Bleeding Academic Research Consortium 1, A = 6.63% vs B = 1.81%, odds ratio (OR) = 3.86, 95% confidence interval (CI) = 1.06–14.08, P = 0.05]. Major bleeding was higher in group A (A = 3.61%, vs B = 1.81%, OR = 2.04, 95% CI = 0.50–8.29, P = 0.50). Conclusion: In Indian patients, 30 mg of prasugrel loading is as effective as 60 mg of prasugrel with significantly less minor bleeding. An efficient synthesis of new six-membered carbasugars in both L-form and D-form starting from N–acetylglucosamine is described. The key synthetic steps involved regioselective protection and deprotection, Ferrier carbocyclization, Peterson olefination, hydroboration and stereoselective epoxidation followed by regioselective epoxide ring opening reactions. These six-membered carbasugars showed moderate glycosidase inhibitory activity and one of the compounds was found selective towards β-galactosidase inhibitory activity.

In the present study, pyrolysis of pine needles has been conducted in a semi-batch reactor at different operating parameters such as particle size, temperature and flow rate of nitrogen for bio-oil production. The maximum bio-oil yield of 43.5% was obtained at a temperature of 550 °C, N2 flow rate of 100 ml/min and particle size of 462μ. At the above optimum conditions, catalytic pyrolysis was observed that bio-oil yield decreased up to 35.2%. The analysis of bio-oil by using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) shows that zeolite HZSM-5 catalyst increases the production of aromatic hydrocarbon compounds and reduces the oxygenated compounds as compared to non-catalytic pyrolysis bio-oil. From the analysis, it has been confirmed that catalytic bio-oil produces more diesel and gasoline range compounds in comparison to non-catalytic bio-oil. In pyrolysis, products such as 2, 5 dimethyl furan compounds have been found that can be easily used as gasoline range compounds as well as rocket engine fuel.

Background and objectives: Haemoglobin content is the well accepted indicator for anaemia assessment. The high prevalence of anaemia, maternal health care issues and adverse delivery outcome in Jharkhand, we investigated whether delivering women with anaemia would present a modifiable risk of preterm (PTB) and low birth weight (LBW). Methods: A facility-based cross-sectional study involving pregnant women, with screening for pregnancy endpoints and haemoglobin assay, were conducted. Anaemia was classified according to World Health Organization's definition of anaemia in pregnancy. Confounding variables were adjusted in a logistic model. The adjusted odds ratios (AORs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were used for analyzing the association among maternal anaemia, PTB and LBW. Results: We observed a high prevalence of anaemia (78.45%) in delivering women, whereas high prevalence of preterm birth (34.75%) and LBW (32.81%) in delivering women overall. In the adjusted analysis, overall anaemia in pregnancy was strongly associated with preterm birth (OR, 3.42; 95% CI, 1.98–5.88; P ≤ .0001) as compared to LBW (OR, 1.12; 95% CI, 0.65–1.61; P = .0003). The risk of PTB and LBW were dependent on the stratification of the anaemia group, as the strongest association was observed in severe (OR, 4.86) followed by mild (OR, 3.66) and moderate (OR, 3.18) anaemia in PTB; whereas risk of LBW was found in severe (OR, 2.5) followed by moderate (OR, 1.11) and mild (OR, 0.57) anaemia. The risk of PTB and LBW across six pregnancy haemoglobin groups were compared, haemoglobin of 10–10.9 g/dl (OR, 1.25) and ≤ 8 g/dl (OR, 1.03) have shown association with PTB and LBW, respectively. However, high haemoglobin concentration was not associated with either PTB or LBW. Conclusions: Anaemia in delivering women was associated with an elevated risk of PTB and LBW and the risk increased with the severity of anaemia in pregnant women.
