Universal quantum algorithms (UQA) implemented on fault-tolerant quantum computers are expected to achieve an exponential speedup over classical counterparts. However, the deep quantum circuits makes the UQA implausible in the current era. With only the noisy intermediate-scale quantum (NISQ) devices in hand, we introduce the quantum-assisted quantum algorithm, which reduces the circuit depth of UQA via NISQ technology. Based on this framework, we present two quantum-assisted quantum algorithms for simulating open quantum systems, which utilize two parameterized quantum circuits to achieve a short-time evolution. We propose a variational quantum state preparation method, as a subroutine to prepare the ancillary state, for loading a classical vector into a quantum state with a shallow quantum circuit and logarithmic number of qubits. We study mutually unbiased bases (MUBs) in which all the bases are unextendible maximally entangled ones. We first present a necessary and sufficient condition of constructing a pair of MUBs in $C^2 \otimes C^4$. Based on this condition, an analytical and necessary condition for constructing MUBs is given. Moreover we illustrate our approach by some detailed examples in $C^2 \otimes C^4$. The results are generalized to $C^2 \otimes C^d$ $(d\geq 3)$ and a concrete example in $C^2 \otimes C^8$ is given., 14 pages

The monogamy relations of quantum correlation restrict the sharability of quantum correlations in multipartite quantum states. We show that all measures of quantum correlations satisfy some kind of monogamy relations for arbitrary multipartite quantum states. Moreover, by introducing residual quantum correlations, we present tighter monogamy inequalities that are better than all the existing ones. In particular, for multi-qubit pure states, we also establish new monogamous relations based on the concurrence and concurrence of assistance under the partition of the first two qubits and the remaining ones., 12 pages, 3 figures

Quantum entanglement has shown distinguished features beyond any classical state. Many methods have been presented to verify unknown entanglement with the complete information about the density matrices by quantum state tomography. In this work, we aim to identify unknown entanglement with only partial information of the state space. The witness consists of a generalized Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger-like paradox expressed by Pauli observables, and a nonlinear entanglement witness expressed by density matrix elements. First, we verify unknown bipartite entanglement and study the robustness of entanglement witnesses against the white noise. Second, we generalize such verification to partially unknown multipartite entangled states, including the Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger-type and W-type states. Third, we give a quantum-information application related to the quantum zero-knowledge proof. It further provides a useful method in blindly verifying universal quantum computation resources. These results may be interesting in entanglement theories, quantum communication, and quantum networks.

We study the generation of entanglement and the realization of controlled quantum phase gates in hybrid quantum systems. Based on the researches on acoustic wave resonators (AWRs) in recent years, we propose a hybrid system which consists of two high quality-factor AWRs, two ensembles of nitrogen-vacancy-centers (NVEs), and a superconducting resonator used to interact two NVEs. Utilizing this hybrid system we present detailed schemes to produce entangled states and carry out controlled-phase gates on two distant AWRs. The numerical simulation shows that from our protocols the fidelities of the entangled states and the controlled-phase gates can reach 99.19 % and 98.56 %, respectively, by taking into account the dissipation and dephasing of the whole system.

We study the mathematical structures and relations among some quantities in the theory of quantum entanglement, such as separability, weak Schmidt decompositions, Hadamard matrices etc. We provide an operational method to identify the Schmidt-correlated states by using weak Schmidt decomposition. We show that a mixed state is Schmidt-correlated if and only if its spectral decomposition consists of a set of pure eigenstates which can be simultaneously diagonalized in weak Schmidt decomposition, i.e. allowing for complex-valued diagonal entries. For such states, the separability is reduced to the orthogonality conditions of the vectors consisting of diagonal entries associated to the eigenstates; moreover, for a special subclass of these states this is surprisingly related to the so-called complex Hadamard matrices. Using the Hadamard matrices, we provide a variety of generalized maximal entangled Bell bases.

We study the entanglement of a multipartite quantum state. An inequality between the bipartite concurrence and the multipartite concurrence is obtained. In this Letter, two counterexamples show that the superadditivity inequality of relative entropy is not true even for the full-ranked quantum states. Thus, an inequality of quantum channels and complementary channels is not also true. Finally, a conjecture of weak superadditivity inequality is presented.

We present a kind of construction for a class of special matrices with at most two different eigenvalues, in terms of some interesting multiplicators which are very useful in calculating eigenvalue polynomials of these matrices. This class of matrices defines a special kind of quantum states -- $d$-computable states. We study quantum mechanical systems with "spin"-related contact interactions in one dimension. The boundary conditions describing the contact interactions are dependent on the spin states of the particles. In particular we investigate the integrability of $N$-body systems with $\delta$-interactions and point spin couplings. Teleportation of finite dimensional quantum states by a non-local entangled state is studied. For a generally given entangled state, an explicit equation that governs the teleportation is presented. Poisson algebraic structures on current manifolds (of maps from a finite dimensional Riemannian manifold into a 2-dimensional manifold) are investigated in terms of symplectic geometry. It is shown that there is a one to one correspondence between such current manifolds and Poisson current algebras with three generators. A geometric meaning is given to q-deformations of current algebras. The geometric quantization of current algebras and quantum current algebraic maps is also studied.

The gauge theory on the z 2 × z 3 group is presented according to the general formalism of the gauge theory on the discrete group. The Yang-Mills action, i.e., the Higgs potential is constructed with the assumption of the gauge fields consisting of three Higgs doublets and the assumption of the metric on the differential algebra. There are two types of solutions to the constrained equations imposed on the vacuum expected values of the three Higgs doublets, one conserving the CP symmetry and the other violating it. The violating solution corresponds to the true vacuum.
