This work is written on the basis of previously unpublished documents and materials of the State Archive of the Pskov Region.

In ‘Notes on Prosody’ (1964), Vladimir Nabokov's most detailed delineation of his views on versification, special attention is given to “pausative verse”. The present discussion of the semantic aura this meter had for Nabokov delves into the origins of his notion of the phenomenon, showing Nabokov's indebtedness to Sergei Bobrov's experimental writings on verse theory, especially to Bobrov's substantiation of the term “pauznik” in his numerous pre-Revolutionary publications on poetics. The outwardly paradoxical nature of Nabokov's attitude toward “pausative verse” was characterized, on the one hand, by his appreciation of this medium, and his avoidance of it in his own poetic praxis, on the other. It also can be called a focal point where various aspects of Nabokov's appreciation for Aleksandr Blok, the meter's most influential practitioner, come together. Making use of published as well as unpublished documents that shed light on Nabokov's notion of Blok's most lasting achievement, the present article shows that Nabokov's relationship with Blok cannot be satisfactorily interpreted along the lines of Harold Bloom's “anxiety of influence”, while an examination of Nabokov's translated oeuvre demonstrates that our present idea of his apparent aversion to accentual verse is in need of reconsideration.

This study seeks to offer an account of the British accounting inflation debate in the 1970s, from the perspective of Raymond J. Chambers and his contribution to this debate: Securities and Obscurities: A Case for Reform of the Law of Company Accounts. The purpose of this account is to trace the environmental and material circumstances that help us to understand why Chambers’ contribution to this inflation accounting debate was rejected. To create this empirical narrative, we draw on previously unpublished documents from the R. J. Chambers Archive. We use Czarniawska and Joerges’ (1996) work on the ‘travel of ideas’ as well as Mumford’s (1979) observations on accounting cycles as a theoretical framework to structure this narrative. The narrative demonstrates how factors not normally associated with the accounting research process, such as the choice of publisher, promotional material, and distribution methods, are just as important in explaining the trajectory of Chambers’ solution to inflation accounting as the ideas that he was promulgating.

Due to their beneficial effect on environment, electric vehicles are an important factor for the improvement of urban traffic and, more particularly, for a healthier living environment. A particularly promising field of application is the hybrid-electric city bus, which offers unprecedented opportunities for reducing energy consumption and emissions. Nowadays, various hybrid bus configurations are being proposed and are being demonstrated in several European cities with the support of the European Union's `Thermie' programme. The most important hybrid bus project within Thermie is the Sagittaire project [EU Thermie Project Sagittaire, Newsletter 2, September 1998; EU Thremie project Sagittaire, unpublished documents], aiming to introduce hybrid buses in nine European cities: Luxembourg, Besancon, Alicante, Sintra, Stavanger, Trento, Savona, Athens and Bruges.

Italian Abstract: I lavori di recupero del patrimonio storico artistico della chiesa di San Vito, recentemente eseguiti, hanno permesso di riscoprire, anche sulla scorta delle informazioni contenute in numerosi documenti, l’identita storico-architettonica di questo importante monumento barcellonese, che si ripropone nel gradevole connubio tra barocco, pitture policrome e pietra calcarea che fu generato dalla simbiosi tra la facies seicentesca e quella settecentesca della struttura e che era stato disperso negli ultimi due secoli.English Abstract: The jobs of recovery of the artistic historical patrimony of the church St. Vito of Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto (Messina) has allowed to rediscover, on the escort of the contained information in unpublished documents, the historical-architectural identity of this important monument barcellonese, that is proposed in the pleasant match among baroque, paintings policrome and calcareous stone that was produced by the symbiosis between the seventeenth-century facies and that eighteenth-century of the structure and that had been lost in the last two centuries.

Summary On occasion of the 175th anniversy of the Prague naturalist Corda his share in the transition period of Protistology in the first half of the 19th century is considered, using rare and often unpublished documents. By his relations to Ehrenberg and other contemporaries a characterization of this epoch is represented. The influence of time-conditioned biological meaning as well as subjective factors are analyzed.
