Purpose: Building on social exchange and leader-member exchange theories, this paper aims to propose a model of the impact of coronavirus-induced anxiety on health-care professionals' burnout and turnover intention through the mediation role of servant leadership. Design/methodology/approach: This model was examined by adopting partial least square-based structural equation modeling using data collected from 271 health professionals (doctors, nurses, midwives and analysts) from Turkey. Findings: The findings of the research illustrate that coronavirus-induced anxiety is positively associated with burnout and turnover intention. Furthermore, servant leadership mediates the relationship between coronavirus-induced anxiety, burnout and turnover intention. Yet, according to factor loadings, the mediating role of servant leadership is not strong (β : 0.035 and 0.053, respectively). Research limitations/implications: First, this study targeted the health-care professionals from Turkey. Therefore, this population may not be able to provide general information on the topic. Thus, this study suggests that the subject be addressed in other populations as well. Second, the data were self-reported by the participants. Although common method bias and social desirability bias were not an issue in this study, it should be known that the results are based on the subjective judgments of the participants. Third, this study was limited to investigating the mediating role of servant leadership only. Practical implications: This study gives much beneficial information to both administrators and organizations by mirroring highly stressed workers' inside throughout statistically results. Hence, it is assumed that the findings will help leaders to cope with several difficult situations, especially in crisis moments. As the chaotic circumstances occurred, achieving organizational goals became more and more difficult. To do this, some leaders play critical roles for members like servant leaders by contributing uniquely spiritual dimensions. Social implications: Struggling with the COVID-19 pandemic has aggravated the health-care professionals' existing mental health and has loaded more agitation on them. According to Mozes (2021), suicide cases among nurses have doubled the number of women in the general population. Thus, leaders should do something to lower those ratios. This study points out that servant leaders could break down those unwanted issues by decreasing burnout and turnover intention rates of health workers. Barbuto and Wheeler (2006) highlighted this situation by creating a dimension called "The Natural Desire to Serve Others." Originality/value: To the best of the authors' knowledge, to date, this study is the first to examine the mediating role of servant leadership in the effect of coronavirus-induced anxiety on burnout and turnover intention. Purpose – Using data from Turkey, this paper seeks to investigate whether relative price changes can help to explain the Phillips Curve relationship between inflation and output. Design/methodology/approach – Building on work by Ball and Mankiw, the paper includes measures of the variance and skews of relative price adjustment in an otherwise standard model of the Phillips Curve. It employs a bounds-testing approach based on an ARDL model to establish long-run relationships. It then uses error correction models to analyze short-run dynamics. Findings – No evidence was found for a long-run relationship between inflation and output. However, a long-run relationship is in fact found, once the variance and skew of relative price changes are included as regressors. The error correction model implies plausible short-term dynamics in this case. Originality/value – This paper combines two distinct literatures, on the Phillips Curve and on the distribution of relative price changes, showing that insights from the latter can be essential in constructing coherent models of the Philips Curve. Purpose ? The supplier selection problem has gained great attention in business management literature. The first objective of this study is to determine the required variables in selecting the best suppliers and to develop a supplier selection model based on these selected variables. The second objective is to explain how an integrated AHP-PGP model can be used in supplier selection decisions while minimizing suppliers' defects rate, rate of late order delivery, purchasing costs, and maximizing suppliers' scores and after-sales service levels.Design/methodology/approach ? An integration of an analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and multi-objective pre-emptive goal programming (PGP) is used to consider both quantitative and qualitative factors in selecting the best suppliers and allocating the optimum order quantities among them.Findings ? The integrated model is presented with a real-world application using source data provided by the manufacturing firm operating in an automotive industry in Turkey. Findings demonstrate that the integrated AHP-PGP model can be useful to all firms in their supplier selection decisions.Research limitations/implications ? The integrated model presented in this study could be used to incorporate criteria such as quantity discount, demand satisfaction and budget constraints, etc. Further, the AHP approach could be extended with the genetic algorithm or data envelopment analysis techniques in solving such a problem.Originality/value ? Although there is considerable research in the literature, this study differs from the literature by introducing stages of the AHP model extensively, and adding a service objective function related to the suppliers' after-sales service levels. Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to develop an analytical approach for workload measurement based on the task times and the changing task priorities of en route air traffic controllers (EATC). Design/methodology/approach - A model called Total Airspace Workload Measurement Model was developed to measure EATC workload. Turkish airspace was chosen for practical application of the model. A survey was conducted of EATC to calculate the weighting coefficients and times of different tasks defined in the model. The survey results were analyzed with SPSS 15.0. The real traffic data of Turkish airspace for two peak hours period in heavy traffic covering August 2007 was provided by the General Directorate of Turkish airports. Geomedia 6.0 was employed for the visualization of the real traffic data. Findings - The total airspace workload during two peak hours of traffic, estimated reference sector capacity and the number of operational sector were defined and calculated to analyze the distribution of workload among sectors. Practical implications - This study can be used for en route sector design such as decision of the number of operational sectors and planning of sectors capacity in the strategic level. Air traffic control service providers can also refer to this study for human resources and equipment planning. Originality/value - A number of parameters and variables were defined and included in the model by taking into consideration the different service types provided by EATC. All parameters and variables were identified with the task times of the controller. This analytical approach can be applied to those particular airspaces which have different characteristics.
