The article provides information on Intersil's ISL59421 as the design's central component in the U.S. The ISL59421 data sheets stated that it is 865-MHz bandwidth multiplexing amplifier designed for video switching. Systems requiring power conversion and level detection employ full-wave rectification, provided by a diode bridge. However, diode bridges consume a significant amount of board space and reduce signal amplitude. Moreover, solution involves using separate amplification for the positive and negative half-cycles and a comparator to switch between them.
