The article features Audrey Pulvar, an African American news anchor on prime time television. Before she started delivering the evening news on a major local station in Paris, African American faces were hardily ever seen on French TV So when she first appeared before the station's 5.5 million viewers two years ago, it caused something of a stir. After working for eight years at Antilles Television in Martinique, she was simply trying to get a job as a reporter in a larger market. When she was finally hired in 2002 at a smaller all-news channel in France, she knew her work had to be above reproach.
