In this study, the relations between conformation traits, herd life and milk yield inHolstein cows were investigated.The material of this study was formed by 247 headHolstein cows in Polatli State farm and 47 head Holstein cows in Ankara UniversityAgricultural Faculty Research Application Farm. Bu araştırmada doğum sonrası 41-60. günlerde bulunan ergin Siyah Alaca ineklerde (n= 44) bir prostaglandin F^ analoğu olan Cloprostenol ile kızgınlığın düzenlenmesi ve tohumlama için en uygun zamanın tespit edilmesine çalışılmıştır. Rastgele dört gruba ayrılan deneme materyalinin ilk üç grubuna 1 1 gün arayla iki defa 500 ug cloprostenol kas içi olarak enjekte edilmiştir. Birinci grup, 2. cloprostenol enjeksiyonunu izleyen 48. saatte, ikinci grup 80. saatte tek, 3. grup ise 72. ve 96. saatlerde iki defa tohumlanmışlardır. Dördüncü grubu oluşturan ineklerin birinci cloprostenol enjeksiyonundan sonraki 5 gün boyunca kızgınlıkları gözlenerek kızgın olduğu belirlenen inekler, kızgınlıklarının ikinci yansında tohumlanmışlardır. Kızgınlık göstermeyen ineklere de ilk enjeksiyondan 1 1 gün sonra ikinci doz cloprostenol enjekte edilerek, son enjeksiyonu izleyen 72. ve 96. saatlerde tohumlama yapılmıştır. Araştırmada kontrol grubu olarak (S. grup) işletmede 1995 yılı sonbahar mevsiminde buzağılayan 10 inek işletme kayıtlarına bakılarak 3-6 yaşlılar arasından rastgele seçilmiştir Araştırma materyalinin % 43'ü birinci enjeksiyonu izleyen 96 saat içinde, % 57'si ikinci enjeksiyonu izleyen 168 saat içinde kızgınlık göstermiştir. Birinci grupta kızgınlık belirtileri ikinci enjeksiyondan ortalama 64±16 saat, ikinci grupta 76±7 saat üçüncü grupta 63±6 saat ve dördüncü grupta da 84±5 saat sonra şekillenmiştir.Araştırmada clopr&tenol'ün servis periyodu ve gebelik başına tohumlama sayısı üzerine etkisi de hesaplanmıştır. Anılan özellikler bakımından deneme grupları arasında ve deneme ile kontml grupları arasındaki farklılık istatistik olarak önemli bulunmamıştır, ancak üçüncü j^Jördüncü grupta servis periyodu kontrol grubuna göre sırasıyla 17 ve 3 1 gün kısalmıştff Yine önemsiz çıkmasına rağmen gebelik başına tohumlama sayısı da kontrol grubuna göre 3. ve 4. grupta azalmıştır. İlk tohumlamada gerçekleşen gebelik oranı 1. grupta % 44, ikinci grupta % 50, üçüncü grupta % 67, dördüncü grupta % 54 ve kontrol grubunda da % 40 olarak tespit edilmiştir. Gruplar arası farklılıklar istatistik önemli bulunmamıştır. Bununla birlikte ilk tohumlamada 3. grupta kontrol grubuna göre gebelik oranı % 27 daha yüksek olmuştur. Cloprostenol uygulanan ineklerde kızgınlığın düzenlenmesi ve en uygun tohumlama zamanının tespit edilmesi için yürütülen bu araştırma % 100 senkronize edilen kızgınlık ve % 67 gebelik oranının sağlandığı üçüncü grup ile amacına ulaşmıştır.ANAHTAR KELİMELER: Süt sığın, kızgınlığın düzenlenmesi, tohumlama zamanı, prostaglandin This study was conducted to synchronise estrus with cloprostenol, a prostaglandin F; analogue, and to determine the most suitable time for insemination in 44 matur Holstein cows during their postpartum period from 41 days to 60 days Cows included in the treatment group were divided into four groups random!) Cloprostenol was injected two times intramuscularly to the first three groups of th treated material at a dose of 500 ug per animal at 1 1 day intervals. The first group wa inseminated at 48* hour, the second group at 80* hour and the third group at 72nd anı 96* hours after second cloprostenol injection. Cows comprising the fourth group wer inseminated during the second half of estrous on the basis of observation of estrou signs over five days after the first cloprostenol injection. Those cows showing n estrous were reinjected with cloprostenol 1 1 days after the first and were inseminated a 72nd and 96* hours after injection.The control group (5* group) for the trial was form» from ten 3-6 year-old cows which calved in Fall 199S randomly. Of the cows in the trial 43 % showed estrus within 96 hours following the first injection 37 % showed estrus within 168 hours after the second injection.. The average timi period in hours between the second injection and the exhibition of estrus signs in th< first, second, third and fourth groups were 64±16, 76±7, 63±6 and 84±5 respectively. mThe effects of cloprostenol on the interval between calving and conception and on the mean number of inseminations per pregnancy were also investigated. In regard to these traits, no statistically significant differences were found among the treatment groups and also between these and the control group. However the service periods were 17 days and 3 1 days shorter for the third and fourth groups respectively when compared with the control group. Although not significant, the means for the numbers of inseminations per pregnancy were lower for the cloprostenol-treated cows in the third and fourth groups compared with the controls. The conception rates at the first insemination with respect to four treatment groups and the control group were found as 44 %, 50 %, 67 %, 54 % and 40 % being statistically not significant However the rate of conception for the third group is 27 % higher than that for the control group. In the third group, the rate of synchronised estrus was 100 % and the rate of pregnancy was 67 % and these can be accepted as reasonable results. Araştırmanın materyalini toplam 171 işletme ve bu işletmelerde yetiştirilen 813 baş sağmal inek oluşturmuştur. Ayrıca farklı yaş gurubu ve cinsiyette 1860 baş sığır genel değerlendirme çerçevesinde incelenmiştir. Yapılan anketlerin değerlendirilmesinde, incelenen işletmelerin %47*sinin 1-5 BBHB' ne, %29'unun 6-10 BBHB' ne ve %24'ünün ise 11 ve daha fazla BBHB' ne sahip büyük işletmelerden olduğu saptanmıştır. Merkez ilçeye bağh köylerde toplam işlenebilir arazi varlığının %1.17'sinin yem bitkileri üretimi için kullanılmakta olduğu belirlenmiştir. The aim of the investigation was to find out the general structure of dairy cattle production in the region. The material of the research consisted of 171 farms and 813 milking cows that arc raised in these farms. In addition, 1860 cattle of all ages and both sexes were investigated within the framework of general evaluation. According to the findings in the research, the distribution of farms by size in LU were described as follows : small farms of 1-5 LU 47 %, medium size farms of 6-10 LU 29 %, and larger farms having 1 1 or more LU, 24%. İt was found that of the total cultivated land area at the villages of the main district 1.17% was used for the production of forage crops. İncelenen işletmelerde yetiştirilen toplam hayvan varlığının BBHB cinsinden% 84.5'ini oluşturan sığırların çoğunluğunun ( % 55.23) Esmer ırktan olduğu ve % 51.84'ünün inek olduğu belirlenmiştir. Bu işletmelerin % 17.78'inde 1-5 baş, % 44.44'ünde 6-10 baş ve % 37.78'inde 11 baş ve daha fazla sığır olduğu hesaplanmıştır. İşletme başına düşen ortalama 66.5 dekar arazinin yem bitkilerine ayrılan % 14'ünde kaba yem olarak yonca kuru otu ve korunga üretildiği belirlenmiştir. İşletmelerin % 71. ll'inin satın alarak sağladığı karma yemin % 51.16'sını süt yemi oluşturmaktadır. A survey covering 79 questions was performed on 45 farms, the structures of farms and the numbers and milk yields of cows on the farms were determined. On the farms investigated, it was determined that 84.5 % of the total number of animals were cattle and the majority (55.23 %) of them were Brown Swiss, 51.84 % being cows. It was found that the 17.78 %, 44.44 % and 37.78 % of these farms had 1-5, 6- 10 and 11 and greater heads of cattle, respectively. The mean land area per farm was 66.5 decares and 14 % of it was used for the production of the following roughages: alfalfa hay and sainfoin. The 71.11 % of the farms purchased the concentrates and 51.16 % of it was dairy feed. EÇ süt verimi ile toplam puan ve ana dış yapı özellikleri arasında pozitif fenotipik korelasyonlar bulunmuş olup dolaylı seleksiyon kriteri olarak kullanılabilir. Toplam dış yapı puanı ile bunu meydana getiren ana dış yapı özellikleri arasındaki pozitif ve önemli ilişkilerden dolayı toplam dış yapıya göre yapılan seleksiyonla ana dış yapı özelliklerinde de iyileşme görülebilir. In the study, the relationships between milk yield and type traits, live weight, height at withers and heart girth circumference were investigated. Type scoring was applied to milking cows in their 2nd through 7th month of lactation and from these animals the measurements for other traits were also obtained. The main components of the type, namely, general appearance, dairy character, body capacity and mammary system were evaluated individually. The relationships between the characteristics were studied using the methods of simple correlations and regressions. Significant positive phenotypic correlations were found between ME milk yield and final score and main component of the type which mean that they can be used as criteria for indirect selection. Due to the positive and significant phenotypic correlations between final score and its main components, improvements can be seen in main type traits by selecting for final score. Since the correlation found between ME milk yield and body weight was negative but very small it can be said that an increase in body weight does not always result in an increase in milk yield. Araştırmada süt verimi ile genel görünüş, sütçülük karakteri, gövde kapasitesi, meme sistemi, toplam puan, vücut ağırlığı, cidago yüksekliği ve göğüs çevresi arasındaki ilişkiler incelenmiştir. Bu ilişkiler basit ve babalar içi fenotipik korrelasyon ve regresyon yöntemleri ile analiz edilmiştir. The relationships of milk yield with general appearance, dairy character, body capacity., mammary system, final score, body weight, height at withers and hearth girth were studied. These relationships were analyzed with the methods of simçle and within-sire phenotypic correlations and regressions. Type appraisal was performed on the lactating cows between the 3rd and 7th months of lactations. From these cows the values for other characters under study were also obtained. The positive and significant phenotypic correlations were found between ME milk yield and final score and categorical type traits. These correlations indicate that an increase in ME milk yield could be achieved through selection on any of the type traits studied. The positive and significant relationships, between the final score and the categorical type traits constituting it, show that an improvement could be seen in the categorical type traits by selection on final score. The phenotypic correlation abtained between ME milk yield and body weight was negative and it suggests that increase in body weight or size of cows does not always result in an increase in milk yield. The following recommendations could be made: The type appraisal to be carried out of first-calf heifers in the milking herds of dairy farms; in the selection performed among these the final type scores should also be taken into consideration* type scores of cows should formally be recorded on their pedigrees. ÖZ Siyah Alaca ve Esmer ırkı sığırların ekonomik verim özelliklerini (gerçek süt verimi, 305 gün süt verimi, ergin çağ süt verimi, laktasyon süresi, gebelik basına asım sayısı) etkileyen bası çevre faktörleri transferin, hemoglobin vs kan grubu sistemleri polimarfismi ; transferin, hemoglobin tipi ve kan sistemleri ile verim özelikleri arasındaki ilişkiler 42 Siyah Alaca 27 Esmer inekte incelenmiştir. Transferin esgen frekansları Tf A, Tf D ve Tf E için Siyah Alacalarda sırasıyla 0,274±0. 048, 0.702±0.050 ve 0. 024±0,01-6, Esmerlerde ise aynı sırayla 0,352±0,066, 0,574±0.067 ve 0,074±0,036 bulunmuştur. Transferin genotiplerinin amprik ve teorik dağılışları arasındaki fark önemsiz (P >,05 ) bulunmuştur. Hemoglobin esgen frekansları Siyah Alacalarda Hfo A ve Hb B için sırasıyla 0,976±0,016 ve 0.024±0,016, Esmerler için aynı sırayla 0,370±0,0,45 ve 0,130±0,045 olarak bulunmuştur. Hemoglobin genotiplerinin amprik ve teorik dağılışları arasındaki fark Esmerlerde önemli (P,05> bulunmuştur. Esmer populasyonunda Tf A, Tf D ve Tf E esgenlerinin meydana getirdiği Tf AA, Tf DD, Tf AE, Tf AD ve Tf DE şeklinde iki homozigot ve üç heterozigot olmak üzere beş genotip tesbit edilmiştir.Siyah Alaca populasyonunda ise Tf AA, Tf DD` Tf AD, Tf DE gibi iki homozigot ve iki heterozigot olmak üzere dört genotip gözlenmiştir Transferin genotiplerinin amprik ve teorik dağılışları arasındaki fark önemsiz (P>,05) bulunmuştur. Siyah Alacalarda süt verim özelliklerine etkileri incelenen faktörlerden transferin, gerçek süt verimi ve laktasyon süresinde önemli (P,05 ). The frequencies of hemoglobin alleles in Black Pied for Hb A and Hb 3 were found as 0,9762:0,016 and 0,024±0,016 respectively and corresponding values in Brown Swiss were 0,870±0,045 and 0,130±0,045 Trie differences between the empirical and theoretical distributions of hemoglobin genotypes were found significant (P,05> in Black Pied. In the herd of Brown Swiss cattle five genotypes, two horaozygoses and three heterozygoses, were identified as Tf AA, Tf DD, Tf AD, Tf DD and Tf DE formed by the alleles of Tf A, Tf D and Tf E, Whereas in the herd of Black Pied cattle four genotypes, two homosygoses and two heterozygoses were observed as Tf AA, Tf DD, Tf AD and Tf DE. ÖZET Çalışmanın materyalini, Çiftlikte yetiştirilen sağmal Siyah Alaca süt sığırlarının 1984-1991 yıllarına ait 67 baş elden çıkmış, 73 baş laktasyona devam eden olmak üzere toplam 140 ineğin 419 adet laktasyon süt verimine ait 7388 adet kontrol verimleri ve yetiştirme kayıtları oluşturmaktadır. Bu ineklerin 41 başı çeşitli yaş dönemlerinde Sarım saklı Çiftliğinden getirilmiş olup, diğerleri çiftlikte yetiştirilmiştir. Süt verim kontrolleri ayda iki defa yapılmaktadır. İnekler günde üç defa makina ile sağılmakta dır. Çalışmadan elde edilen sonuçlar aşağıda özetlenmiştir. Süt verimi tanımlayıcı değerlerinden gerçek laktas yon süt verimi 7567±2335 kg, 305-2x-EÇ süt verimi 7806±3722kg ömürboyu süt verimi 17549±9088 kg, laktasyon süresi 348+82 gün kaydedilmiştir. Denemede Ankara tavukçuluk Araştırma Enstitüsünde elde edilen ve günlük civcivlerinde tüy rengine göre cinsiyet tayinine imkân veren Pe baba soyu ve Re ana soyundan horoz ve tavuklar kullanılmıştır. Bu soylar içinde iki generasyon üvey ve özkardeş verimlerine dayalı soy içi seleksiyon yürütülmüştür. Daha sonra bu soylardan elde edilen hibridler, melez döllerin performanslarına göre iki generasyon selekte edilmiş ebeveynlerden elde edilen hibridlerle eşit çevre şartlarında mukayese edilmişlerdir. Yapılan mukayesede, 60 haftalık yaşa kadarki yumurta verimi bakımından gruplar arasında farklılık bulunamamıştır. Yumurta ağırlığı bakımından gruplar arasındaki fark önemlidir(P< 0.01). Melez döllerin performanslarına göre ıslah edilen ebeveynlerden elde edilen hibridler ortalama 1.52 g daha ağır yumurta vermişlerdir. Soy içi seleksiyonla ıslah edil meye çalışılan Pe baba soyunda yumurta veriminde seleksiyonla bir generasyonda 14.5 adet, Re ana soyunda ise 2.75 adetlik bir artış meydana gelmiştir. Aynı soylarda yumurta ağırlığında meydana gelen değişmeler sırasıyla -0,1 g ve 1.8 g olarak gerçekleşmiştir. Gruplarda yumurta s-erimi ve ağırlığına ait varyanslarda ikinci generasyonlarda azalmalar tespit edilmiştir.Baba ve ana soylarında gerek seleksiyon sonuçlarından gerekse akrabalar arası benzerlikten yararlanarak 43 haftaya kadarki yumurta verimine ait kalıtım dereceleri de hesaplanmıştır. Seleksiyon sonuçlarından yararlanarak hesaplanan kalıtım dereceleri Pe baba soyunda 0.30, Re ana soyunda 0.20 olarak bulunmuştur. In the experiment the Pe sire strain and the Re dam strain developed at the Poultry Research Institute of Ankara were used. In these strains sexing based on the feather colour is possible in day old chicks. In these strains, family selection was carried out for two generations based on the performance of half and full-sib families. The hybrids obtained from these animals were compared under the same environmental condi tions with the hybrids acquired from the parents deve loped according to their crossbred progeny performance for two generation. In all groups, the effect of abrupt weaning on weaning shock was investigated and it was found that abrupt.weaning had no negative effects on the growth rate. Possibilities of early mating were investigated in male and females. Weaning at 7 and 14 weeks were compared and similar results were obtained in all traits. Early weaning increased the marketable milk production, reduced labor costs and affected the rumen development in a favorable direction.
