Zooplankton abundance and composition are one of the most important factors which affect the food web in aquatic ecosystems. The purpose of this study was to determine the water quality of Bafa Lake in Turkey, based on zooplankton communities. As the study case, Bafa Lake is one of the biggest lake in Turkey, and the lake is quite rich in terms of biodiversity. Bafa Lake is the under effects of domestic, agricultural and industrial wastes that accumulate and cause the deterioration of ecology in the lake by Büyük Menderes River. With this purpose, 8 sampling sites were determined and zooplankton samples were collected monthly for two years. TSINRot index and various versions of diversity indices were used to determine the water quality and ecological status of Bafa Lake. To determine similarities between the stations, the stations were clustered by using UPGMA based on zooplankton fauna. By applying Pearson Correlation, correlations between the indices based on zooplankton fauna were assessed. With the identification of collected zooplankton, a total of 73 taxa which belong to groups of Rotifera, Cladocera, Copepoda, and Meroplankton were detected. As a result of similarity analysis, most similarity values were obtained between stations 1, 2 and 8, respectively. According to TSINRot index, Bafa Lake has got a eutrophic ecological state while according to all versions of diversity indices, Bafa Lake has got the α-β mesosaprobic ecological state., Zooplankton miktarı ve dağılımı sucul ekosistemlerde besin ağını etkileyen en önemli faktörlerden biridir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, Türkiye'deki Bafa Gölü'nün su kalitesini zooplankton topluluklarını baz alarak belirlemektir. Çalışma alanı olarak Bafa Gölü, Türkiye'nin en büyük göllerinden biri olmakla birlikte göl biyolojik çeşitlilik açısından oldukça zengindir. Bafa Gölü, Büyük Menderes Nehri tarafından taşınarak gölde ekolojinin bozulmasına neden olan evsel, tarımsal ve endüstriyel atıkların etkisi altındadır. Bu amaçla 8 örnekleme alanı belirlenmiş ve zooplankton örnekleri iki yıl boyunca aylık olarak toplanmıştır. Bafa Gölü'nün su kalitesini ve ekolojik durumunu belirlemek için TSINRot indeksi ve çeşitlilik indekslerinin çeşitli versiyonları kullanılmıştır. İstasyonlar arasındaki benzerlikleri belirlemek için, istasyonlar zooplankton faunası temelli UPGMA kullanılarak kümelendirilmiştir. Pearson Korelasyonu uygulanarak, zooplankton faunasına dayalı indeksler arasındaki korelasyonlar değerlendirilmiştir. Toplanan zooplanktonik organizmaların tanımlanmasıyla Rotifera, Cladocera, Copepoda ve Meroplankton gruplarına ait toplam 73 takson tespit edilmiştir. Benzerlik analizi sonucunda, en yüksek benzerlik değerleri sırasıyla 1., 2. ve 8. istasyonları arasında elde edilmiştir. TSINRot indeksine göre, Bafa Gölü ötrofik ekolojik duruma sahipken, çeşitlilik indekslerinin tüm versiyonlarına göre, Bafa Gölü α-β mezosaprobik ekolojik duruma sahiptir.

Bu çalışmada, ilkbahar ve sonbahar dönemlerinde üç farklı bölgeden elde edilen sazan (Cyprinus carpio), sudak (Sander lucioperca), gümüşi havuz balığı (Carassius gibelio) ve kerevit (Astacus leptodactylus) örneklerinde diffüzyon agar metodu kullanılarak serum lizozim aktiviteleri incelenmiştir. Phylum Tardigrada, which has been quite a little studied both around the world and Turkey, belongs to members of a metazoan. In this study eight moss and lichen samples were collected and investigated from a variety of elevations of the Verçenik Mountain in Rize (Turkey). In total 62 specimens, 11 exivium and 10 eggs of tardigrades were found. Five species were identified, and they belong to genera: Acanthechiniscus, Pseudechiniscus, Macrobiotus, Paramacrobiotus and, Ramazzottius. Three of them are new records for Turkish fauna i.e. Acanthechiniscus victor (Ehrenberg, 1853), Pseudechiniscus ramazzottii ramazzottii Maucci, 1952 and Macrobiotus spectabilis Thulin, 1928. Including these three species, the tardigrade fauna of Turkey increased to 54. In this paper, we present the previous study a full list of the known high mountain and alpine tardigrade species with their localities. Bunlar: Acanthechiniscus victor (Ehrenberg, 1853), Pseudechiniscus ramazzottii ramazzottii Maucci, 1952 ve Macrobiotus spectabilis Thulin, 1928. Bu üç türün de dahil edilmesiyle, Türkiye’nin tardigrat faunası 54’e yükselmiştir. Bu çalışmada daha önceden elde edilen yüksek dağ ve alpin türlerinin tam listesini sunulmuştur. Tüm örnekler Ankara Üniversitesi Sucul Canlıları Araştırma Laboratuvarında saklanmaktadır.

Salaria fluviatilis (Asso,1801), Blenniidae familyasının Akdeniz’de temsil edilen tek tatlısu türüdür. Bu çalışmada, ülkemiz içsularında ilk kez doğadan örneklenen bir kemikli balığa ait yumurta ve larvaların morfolojik özellikleri verilmiştir. 22 Temmuz 2012’de Gökova Körfezi’ne açılan Akyaka Azmak Nehri’nden S. fluviatilis türüne ait çok sayıda aynı gelişim evresindeki (çoğunluğu son safhaya erişmiş) yumurtalar tespit edilmiştir. Demersal özellikteki yumurtaların çapları; 0,89-1,31x0,78-1,23 mm, bu yumurtalardan çıkan prelarvaların boyları; 2,4-3,8 mm, postlarvalarınki 3,3-4,2 mm olarak ölçülmüştür., Salaria fluviatilis (Asso,1801) is the only freshwater species of Blenniidae represented in the Mediterranean Sea. This study stands as the first one to provide the morphological characteristics of one of Teleost fish eggs and larvae sampled from their natural habitats in Turkey’s inland waters. A great majority of eggs (mostly at late stage) belonging to S. fluviatilis found in Akyaka Azmak creek flowing into the Gökova Bay on 22 July 2012. Diameters of these demersal eggs were 0.89-1.31x0.78-1.23 mm, and lengths of these hatched prelarvae were recorded as 2.4-3.8 mm, postlarvae 3.3-4.2 mm.

Rotifera assemblages of small floodplain wetlands (dobas or dubies) of lower and upper regions of the Brahmaputra river basin of Assam state of northeast India (NEI) reveal 157 species, belonging to 34 genera and 18 families, and highlight notable speciose constellation of up to 50 species/sample. One species, each is new to the Oriental region and Assam, and species of global and regional biogeographic interest form notable fractions. The biodiverse rotifer fauna and various interesting species are hypothesized to habitat diversity of the sampled dobas or dubies, impact of `the Assam-gateway’- an important biogeographic corridor of India, and location of the study area in the Indo-Burmese biodiversity hot-spot. Lecanidae and Lepadellidae are species-rich families, both of lower and upper Assam wetlands; upper Assam wetlands, in particular, are characterized by a distinct paucity of the Brachionidae and Brachionus spp., the relative paucity of Trichocerca, Keratella and Mytilina species, rare occurrence of Asplanchna and Filinia species, and lack of species of Conochilidae and Hexarthridae. Our results indicate the littoral-periphytic nature and tropical character of the rotifers. Overall, this study is an important contribution to Rotifera biodiversity of small lentic habitats of India, Asia and that of the tropics and subtropics.
